| 2 | Improving bubble-particle attachment during the flotation of low rank coal by surface modification显示文摘Based on the problems caused by many oxygen-containing functional groups and poor floatability on the surface of low rank coal,the characteristics of low rank coal were analyzed systematically by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)techniques.The bubble-particle induction time was used to determine the characterization of the bubble-particle attachment,and the bubble-particle attachment of low rank coal modified by soaking the coal samples in an acid or alkaline solution was analyzed.The floatability of the modified coal surface was verified by flotation tests.The results show that the particle size of 0.125–0.074 mm of the coal sample exhibited better bubble-particle attachment characteristics.The small bubble,the larger approach velocity of bubble and the larger bubble deformation were more helpful to enhance the bubbleparticle attachment.For an acid solution,the smaller the p H was and the longer the soaking time was,the better the floatability of the coal sample and the higher the combustible material recovery were.The combustible material recovery of low rank coal was increased to 78.79%by soaking the sample in an acid solution of pH=0 for 180 min.On the contrary there was a best concentration for the alkaline solution. | Haishan Hu Ming Li Lulu Li Xiuxiang Tao | 2020 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,2: | 27 |

| 5 | Sensitivity experiments of impacts of large-scale urbanization in East China on East Asian winter monsoon显示文摘By using the global atmospheric general circulation model CAM4.0 including an urban canopy parameterization scheme,the possible impacts of large-scale urbanization in East China on East Asian winter monsoon was investigated via idealized numerical experiments.Results suggest that large-scale urbanization can cause a significant warming effect in both surface temperature and air temperature near the surface over most areas of East China.Meanwhile,large-scale urbanization also alters the surface energy balance,causing evident increases in net surface long-wave radiation and sensible heat flux as well as intensified surface thermal heating to the atmosphere.Forced by the surface thermal heating anomalies induced by the large-scale urban expansion,East Asian winter monsoon circulation exhibits distinct changes.Overall,the extensive urbanization over East China will weaken East Asian winter monsoon,but intensify winter monsoon in northeast China. | CHEN HaiShan ZHANG Ye | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,3: | 12 |
| 6 | Possible linkage between winter extreme low temperature events over China and synoptic-scale transient wave activity显示文摘Based on NECP/NCAR reanalysis data and daily temperature data of 743 stations in China, possible causes of winter extreme low temperature events are explored from the perspective of the synoptic-scale transient wave (STW) activity. Results suggest that there is a close linkage between STW activity and extreme low temperature events. Firstly, case studies are carried out on the years with the most and least frequent extreme low temperature events. In the winter of 1967, two strong and stable STW trains were maintained over the Eurasian continent, and the strong westerly jet provided a good channel for the propagation of STW. Located in the downstream area of those two STW trains, China was significantly influenced by them and experienced frequent extreme low temperature events. Further analysis suggest that the intensity of the upstream transient wave and the areas where the transient waves reached are completely consistent with the intensity of extreme low temperature and the areas where frequent extreme low temperature event happened, respectively. In contrast, Westerly jet in 2006 was weaker and the path of transient wave propagation was shorter and weaker, resulting in the low frequency of extreme temperature. Secondly, in their long term variations, westerly jet is also consistent with the extreme low temperature frequency. The transient wave path changed before and after the 1980s. Further investigation suggests that transient wave intensities in key areas exhibit in-phase changes with the frequency of extreme low temperature events in the periods of 1959-1979 and 1986-2006. Meanwhile, the main features of transient wave activities in high-frequent years and low-frequent years of extreme low temperature events are similar to those of 1967 and 2006, respectively. Results indicate that winter extreme low temperature events in China have a very close relationship with the transient wave activity, implying the propagation and activity of STW are important factors affecting the winter extreme low temperature events in China. | 8 | Hypoglycemic mechanism of polysaccharide from Cyclocarya paliurus leaves in type 2 diabetic rats by gut microbiota and host metabolism alteration显示文摘Diabetes mellitus is a serious threat to human health.Cyclocarya paliurus(Batal.)Iljinskaja(C.paliurus)is one of the traditional herbal medicine and food in China for treating type 2 diabetes,and the C.paliurus polysaccharides(CP)were found to be one of its major functional constituents.This research aimed at investigating the hypoglycemic mechanism for CP.It was found that CP markedly attenuated the symptoms of diabetes,and inhibited the protein expression of Bax,improved the expression of Bcl-2 in pancreas of diabetic rats,normalized hormones secretion and controlled the inflammation which contributed to the regeneration of pancreaticβ-cell and insulin resistance.CP treatment increased the beneficial bacteria genus Ruminococcaceae UCG-005 which was reported to be a key genus for protecting against diabetes,and the fecal short-chain fatty acids levels were elevated.Uric metabolites analysis showed that CP treatment helped to protect with the diabetes by seven significantly improved pathways closely with the nutrition metabolism(amino acids and purine)and energy metabolism(TCA cycle),which could help to build up the intestinal epithelial cell defense for the inflammation associated with the diabetes.Our study highlights the specific mechanism of prebiotics to attenuate diabetes through multi-path of gut microbiota and host metabolism. | Qiqiong Li Jielun Hu Qixing Nie Xiao Chang Qingying Fang Junhua Xie Haishan Li Shaoping Nie | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,1: | 11 |
| 9 | Intelligent modeling and control for nonlinear systems with rate-dependent hysteresis显示文摘A new modeling approach for nonlinear systems with rate-dependent hysteresis is proposed. The approach is used for the modeling of the giant magnetostrictive actuator,which has the rate-dependent nonlinear property. The models built are simpler than the existed approaches. Compared with the experiment result,the model built can well describe the hysteresis nonlinear of the actuator for input signals with complex frequency. An adaptive direct inverse control approach is proposed based on the fuzzy tree model and inverse learning and special learning that are used in neural network broadly. In this approach,the inverse model of the plant is identified to be the initial controller firstly. Then,the inverse model is connected with the plant in series and the linear parameters of the controller are adjusted using the least mean square algorithm by on-line manner. The direct inverse control approach based on the fuzzy tree model is applied on the tracing control of the actuator by simulation. | 10 | Recognition of climatic effects of land use/land cover change under global warming显示文摘Greenhouse gas emissions and land use/land cover change(LUCC)are two human activities notably affecting climate change.Will temperature and precipitation increase significantly during global warming resulting in more pronounced LUCC climatic effects?Considering the interannual forcing of these two factors,the NCAR Community Atmosphere Model(CAM4.0)was used in this study to investigate the importance of climatological background to LUCC impacts.Experiments based on the difference in the background climate,the greenhouse gas concentrations in 1850 and in the present age indicate contrary changes in climate sensitivity through estimations of the radiative forcing associated with LUCC,which are 0.54°C/(W/m2)and 0.26°C/(W/m2),respectively.Therefore,the background climate appears to play an important role in the regional impact of LUCC,especially at higher latitudes.In addition,global warming predominantly influences snow-albedo feedback in the mid-latitudes,thus determining the impact of LUCC,whereas the regional difference in precipitation caused by global warming is responsible for the differing climate response to LUCC in the tropics and subtropics. | HUA WenJian CHEN HaiShan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,31: | 10 |

| 13 | Effects of future land use change on the regional climate in China显示文摘Land use and land cover change(LUCC)is one of the important human forcing on climate.However,it is difficult to infer how LUCC will affect climate in the future from the effects of previous LUCC on regional climates in the past.Thus,based on the land cover data recommended by the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5(CMIP5),a regional climate model(Reg CM4)was used to investigate the climate effects of future land use change over China.Two 15-year simulations(2036–2050),one with the current land use data and the other with future land cover scenario(2050)were conducted.It is noted that future LUCC in China is mainly characterized by the transition from the grassland to the forest.Results suggest that the magnitudes and ranges of the changes in temperature and precipitation caused by future LUCC show evident seasonality,which are more prominent in summer and autumn.Significant response of climate to future LUCC mainly happens in Northeast China,North China,the Hetao Area,Eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and South China.Further investigation shows that future LUCC can also produce significant impacts on the atmospheric circulation.LUCC results in abnormal southwesterly wind over extensive areas from the Indian peninsula to the coasts of the South China Sea and South China through the Bay of Bengal.Furthermore,Indian tropical southwest monsoons and South Sea southwest monsoons will both be strong,and the abnormal water vapor convergence from the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean will result in more precipitation in South China. | HUA WenJian CHEN HaiShan LI Xing | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,10: | 8 |
| 14 | Hotspots of the sensitivity of the land surface hydrological cycle to climate change显示文摘Due to the shortage of the global observational data of the terrestrial hydrological variables,the understanding of how surface hydrological processes respond to climate change is still limited.In this study,the Community Land Model(CLM4.0)with high resolution atmospheric forcing data is selected to simulate the global surface hydrological quantities during the period 1948–2006and to investigate the spatial features of these quantities in response to climate change at the regional scales.The sensitivities of evaporation and runoff with respect to the dominant climate change factors(e.g.temperature and precipitation)derived from the concept of climate elasticity are introduced.Results show that evaporation has a declining trend with a rate of 0.7 mm per decade,while runoff shows a weak increasing trend of 0.15 mm per decade over the global land surface.Analyses of the hotspots in the hydrological cycle indicate that the spatial distributions for evaporation and runoff are similar over many areas in central Asia,Australia,and southern South America,but differ largely in high latitudes.It is also found that,the evaporation hotspots in arid regions are mainly associated with the changes in precipitation.Our sensitive analysis suggests that the hydrological quantities show a rather complicated spatial dependency of response of the water cycle to the different climate factors(temperature and precipitation). | HUA WenJian CHEN HaiShan ZHU SiGuang SUN ShanLei YU Miao ZHOU LiMing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,30: | 7 |
| 15 | Regeneration dynamics of subalpine fir (Abies fargesii) forest across the altitudinal range in the Shennongjia Mountains, central China显示文摘Aims Age structure and regeneration dynamics have been used to infer population response to environmental events and reconstruct forest development history.The aim of this study was to characterize and examine the differences of the age structure and regeneration dynamics of subalpine fir(Abies fargesii)forest across the altitudinal range in the north and south aspects in the Shennongjia Mountains,central China.Methods Ten plots(20×20 m)at each altitudinal zone(i.e.the low elevation,the middle elevation and the high elevation)were established in both the north and south aspects of the Shennongjia Mountains,central China.Dendroecological techniques were applied to obtain information about ages of the trees in the plots.The population age structure was analyzed to investigate the regeneration dynamics across the altitudinal range.Important findings Fir regeneration dynamics and age structure were similar in both aspects,and a unimodal population age structure was found at different altitudinal sites of both aspects,indicating that environmental factors might play an important role in shaping the regeneration dynamics and age structure of A.fargesii across its altitudinal range.There was a sustained recruitment during the 19th century,but the regeneration was rarer in the last century at low and midelevations.A significant greater number of fir seedlings and saplings recruited at high elevations in the last century,and fir tree density at high elevations was significantly higher than that at low elevations.Thus,the fir population at the high elevations showed a significant increase in recruitment and stem density in the last century,and we propose that the gradual infilling of fir seedlings might result in changes in regeneration dynamics and stand structure of the subalpine fir forest at high elevations in the Shennongjia Mountains,central China. | Haishan Dang Kerong Zhang Yanjun Zhang Xunzhang Tong Quanfa Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,1: | 6 |

| 17 | Regional Features and Seasonality of Land–Atmosphere Coupling over Eastern China显示文摘Land-atmosphere coupling is a key process of the climate system, and various coupling mechanisms have been proposed before based on observational and numerical analyses. The impact of soil moisture(SM) on evapotranspiration(ET) and further surface temperature(ST) is an important aspect of such coupling. Using ERA-Interim data and CLM4.0 offline simulation results, this study further explores the relationships between SM/ST and ET to better understand the complex nature of the land-atmosphere coupling(i.e., spatial and seasonal variations) in eastern China, a typical monsoon area. It is found that two diagnostics of land-atmosphere coupling(i.e., SM-ET correlation and ST-ET correlation) are highly dependent on the climatology of SM and ST. By combining the SM-ET and ST-ET relationships, two 'hot spots' of land-atmosphere coupling over eastern China are identified: Southwest China and North China. In Southwest China, ST is relatively high throughout the year, but SM is lowest in spring, resulting in a strong coupling in spring. However, in North China, SM is relatively low throughout the year, but ST is highest in summer, which leads to the strongest coupling in summer. | 18 | Detecting Primary Precursors of January Surface Air Temperature Anomalies in China显示文摘This study aims to detect the primary precursors and impact mechanisms for January surface temperature anomaly(JSTA) events in China against the background of global warming, by comparing the causes of two extreme JSTA events occurring in 2008 and 2011 with the common mechanisms inferred from all typical episodes during 1979–2008. The results show that these two extreme events exhibit atmospheric circulation patterns in the mid–high latitudes of Eurasia, with a positive anomaly center over the Ural Mountains and a negative one to the south of Lake Baikal(UMLB), which is a pattern quite similar to that for all the typical events. However, the Eurasian teleconnection patterns in the 2011 event, which are accompanied by a negative phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation, are different to those of the typical events and the 2008 event. We further find that a common anomalous signal appearing in early summer over the tropical Indian Ocean may be responsible for the following late-winter Eurasian teleconnections and the associated JSTA events in China. We show that sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTAs) in the preceding summer over the western Indian Ocean(WIO) are intimately related to the UMLB-like circulation pattern in the following January. Positive WIOSSTAs in early summer tend to induce strong UMLB-like circulation anomalies in January, which may result in anomalously or extremely cold events in China, which can also be successfully reproduced in model experiments. | 19 | Classification of Northeast China Cold Vortex Activity Paths in Early Summer Based on K-means Clustering and Their Climate Impact显示文摘The classification of the Northeast China Cold Vortex(NCCV)activity paths is an important way to analyze its characteristics in detail.Based on the daily precipitation data of the northeastern China(NEC)region,and the atmospheric circulation field and temperature field data of ERA-Interim for every six hours,the NCCV processes during the early summer(June)seasons from 1979 to 2018 were objectively identified.Then,the NCCV processes were classified using a machine learning method(k-means)according to the characteristic parameters of the activity path information.The rationality of the classification results was verified from two aspects,as follows:(1)the atmospheric circulation configuration of the NCCV on various paths;and(2)its influences on the climate conditions in the NEC.The obtained results showed that the activity paths of the NCCV could be divided into four types according to such characteristics as the generation origin,movement direction,and movement velocity of the NCCV.These included the generation-eastward movement type in the east of the Mongolia Plateau(eastward movement type or type A);generation-southeast longdistance movement type in the upstream of the Lena River(southeast long-distance movement type or type B);generationeastward less-movement type near Lake Baikal(eastward less-movement type or type C);and the generation-southward less-movement type in eastern Siberia(southward less-movement type or type D).There were obvious differences observed in the atmospheric circulation configuration and the climate impact of the NCCV on the four above-mentioned types of paths,which indicated that the classification results were reasonable. | Yihe FANG Haishan CHEN Yi LIN Chunyu ZHAO Yitong LIN Fang ZHOU | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,3: | 4 |
