| 1 | Responses of activities, abundances and community structures of soil denitrifiers to short-term mercury stress显示文摘The responses of activities, abundances and community structures of soil denitrifiers to mercury (Hg) stress were investigated through a short-term incubation experiment. Four soil treatments with different concentrations of Hg (CK, Hg25, Hg50, and Hg100, denoted as 0, 25, 50, and 100 mg Hg/kg dry soil, respectively) were incubated for 28 days. Soil denitrification enzyme activity (DEA) was measured at day 3, 7 and 28. The abundances and community structures of two denitrification concerning genes, nirS (cd1-nitrite reductase gene) and nosZ (nitrous oxide reductase gene), were analyzed using real-time PCR and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). Results showed that soil DEA was significantly stimulated in the treatments of Hg25 and Hg50 compared with others at day 7. Meanwhile, no difference in the abundances of soil nirS and nosZ was found between Hg spiked treatments and CK, except the lower abundance of nirS (P < 0.05) in the Hg added treatments compared with that in the CK at day 28. The community structures of denitrifiers based on nirS gene presented obvious change at day 7 along with the Hg additions, however, no variation was found in all treatments based on the nosZ gene. | 2 | Archaeal community structure along a gradient of petroleum contamination in saline-alkali soil显示文摘The response of archaeal communities to petroleum contamination in saline-alkali soil was characterized by analyses of three soil samples with different total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations.Through the construction and screening of 16S rRNA gene clone libraries based on DNA extracts from these soils,nine distinct phylogenetic groups were identified.Statistical analyses showed that the distribution of archaeal community structures differ significantly along the gradient of petroleum contamination in these three saline- alkali soils.Five phylogenetic groups were dominant in the control soil,two of which were also abundant in the lightly contaminated soil.Four phylogenetic groups were dominant in heavily contaminated soil,one of which was also abundant in the lightly contaminated soil.The halophilic genus of Haloferax and the haloalkaliphilic genus of Natronomonas were more abundant in heavily contaminated soil.These results suggested that the genera of Haloferax and Natronomonas may have a role in the natural attenuation of petroleum- contaminated saline-alkali soil. | Xinxin Wang Zhen Han Zhihui Bai Jingchun Tang Anzhou Ma Jizheng He Guoqiang Zhuang | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,11: | 8 |
| 3 | Mineralogy of Manganese Oxide Minerals in Iron Manganese Nodules of Several Main Soils in China显示文摘X-ray diffraction and selective chemical dissolution methods were used to investigate the composition of Mn oxide minerals in Fe-Mn nodules of several main types of soils in China. The changes of relative intensity of X-ray diffraction patterns were studied both before and after chemically selective dissolution. It was found that lithiophorite was a common Mn oxide in all examined Fe-Mn nodules. Todorokite, however, was a predominant Mn oxide in Fe-Mn nodules in caf-aquic Vertisols of Linyi, Shandong Province. The Fe-Mn nodules of arp-udic Luvisols in Wuhan and Zaoyang, Hubei Province, contained birnessite and vernadite. Hollandite was found in Fe-Mn nodules of alt-udic Ferrisols of Yizhang, Hunan Province; arp-udic Luvisols of Zaoyang, Hubei Province; and cal-aquic Vertisols of Linyi, Shandong Province. The Fe-Mn nodules in alt-udic Ferrisols of Guiyang, Hunan Province, had a few coronadites. | 4 | Do land utilization patterns affect methanotrophic communities in a Chinese upland red soil?显示文摘Soil samples were collected from three plots under different land utilization patterns including degradation,farming,and restoration.The abundances of methanotrophs were quantified using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based on the pmoA and 16S rRNA genes,and the community fingerprint was analyzed using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) aiming at pmoA gene.Significantly lower 16S rRNA and pmoA genes copies were found in the degradation treatment than in farming and restoration.Higher abundances of Type I than those of Type II methanotrophs were detected in all treatments.The treatment of farming was clearly separated from degradation and restoration according to the DGGE profile by cluster analysis.The lowest diversity indices were observed in the F (farming plot),suggesting that the community structure was strongly affected by farming activities.There were significantly positive correlations between the copy numbers of pmoA also Type II-related 16S rRNA genes and soil available K content.Strong negative and positive correlations were found between Type I and soil pH,and available P content,respectively.We concluded that the vegetation cover or not,soil characteristics including pH and nutrients of P and K as a result of anthropogenic disturbance may be key factors affecting methanotrophic communities in upland soil. | Yong Zheng Xinzhan Liu Limei Zhang Zhifeng Zhou Jizheng He | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12: | 4 |

| 6 | Oxidation of As^Ⅲ by Several Manganese Oxide Minerals in Absence and Presence of Goethite显示文摘Oxidation of AsⅢ by three types of manganese oxide minerals affected by goethite was investigated by chemical analysis, equilibrium redox, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Three synthesized Mn oxide minerals of different types, birnessite, todorokite, and hausmannite, could actively oxidize AsⅢ to AsⅤ, and greatly varied in their oxidation ability. Layer structured birnessite exhibited the highest capacity of AsⅢ oxidation, followed by the tunnel structured todorokite. Lower oxide hausmannite possessed much low capacity of AsⅢ oxidation, and released more Mn2+ than birnessite and todorokite during the oxidation. The maximum amount of AsⅤ produced during the oxidation of AsⅢ by Mn oxide minerals was in the order: birnessite (480.4 mmol/kg) > todorokite (279.6 mmol/kg) > hausmannite (117.9 mmol/kg). The oxidation capacity of the Mn oxide minerals was found to be relative to the composition, crystallinity, and surface properties. In the presence of goethite oxidation of AsⅢ by Mn oxide minerals increased, with maximum amounts of AsⅤ being 651.0 mmol/kg for birnessite, 332.3 mmol/kg for todorokite and 159.4 mmol/kg for hausmannite. Goethite promoted AsⅢ oxidation on the surface of Mn oxide minerals through adsorption of the AsⅤ produced, incurring the decrease of AsⅤ concentration in solutions. | 7 | Host HDAC4 regulates the antiviral response by inhibiting the phosphorylation of IRF3显示文摘Class II HDACs, such as HDAC4, are critical regulators of the immune response in various immune cells;however, its role in innate immunity remains largely unknown.Here, we report that the overexpression of HDAC4 suppresses the production of type I interferons triggered by pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs). HDAC4 repressed the translocation of transcription factor IRF3 to the nucleus, thereby decreasing IRF3-mediated IFN-β expression. In particular, we also determined that HDAC4 can be phosphorylated and simultaneously block the phosphorylation of IRF3 at Ser386 and Ser396 by TBK1 and IKKε, respectively, by interacting with the kinase domain of TBK1 and IKKε. Furthermore, IFN-β may stimulate the expression of HDAC4. | 8 | Changes of Clay Mineral Association After High-Gradient Magnetic Separation显示文摘The changes of clay mineral association after high-gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) treatment, and the effects of chemical and physical technologies on concentrating Fe oxides for main soils in central and southern China were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical analysis methods. Results indicated that the concentrating times of Fe oxides by HGMS treatment were the largest for 0.2-2 μmsize fractions in the examined soils. For the soils in which 2: 1 phyllosilicates were dominant, concentrating times of iron oxides by HGMS treatment were larger than by 5 mol L-1 NaOH treatment. Phyllosili-cates were decreased after HGMS treatment; however, the decrease was less than that of kaorolinite. | 19 | Quantitative Estimation on Methane Storage Capacity of Organic-Rich Shales from the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Eastern Sichuan Basin, China显示文摘The assessment of gas storage capacity is crucial to furthering shale gas exploration and development in the eastern Sichuan Basin,China.Eleven organic-rich shale samples were selected to carry out the high pressure methane sorption,low-pressure N_(2)/CO_(2) gas adsorption,and bulk and skeletal density measurements to investigate the methane storage capacity(MSC).Based on the relative content of clay,carbonates,quartz+feldspar,we grouped the 11 samples into three lithofacies:silica-rich argillaceous shale(CM-1),argillaceous/siliceous mixed shale(M-2),and clay-rich siliceous shale(S-3).The total porosity of the shale samples varies from 3.4% to 5.6%,and gas saturation ranges from 47% to 89%.The measured total gas amount ranges from 1.84 mg/g to 4.22 mg/g with the ratio of free gas to total gas amount ranging from 52.7% to 70.8%.Free gas with high content in the eastern Sichuan Basin may be the key factor controlling amount of shale gas production.The TOC content critically controls the MSC of shales,because micropore,mesopore volumes and the specific surface areas associated with organic matter provide the storage sites for the free and adsorbed gas.The methane sorption capacities of samples from different lithofacies are also affected by clay minerals and moisture content.Clay minerals can provide additional surface areas for methane sorption,and water can cause a 7.1%-42.8% loss of methane sorption capacity.The total porosity,gas-bearing porosity,water saturation,free gas and adsorbed gas number of samples from different lithofacies show subtle differences if the shale samples had similar TOC contents.Our results suggest that,in the eastern Sichuan Basin,clay-rich shale lithofacies is also prospecting targets for shale gas production. | Xiaowen Guo Tao Luo Tian Dong Rui Yang Yuanjia Han Jizheng Yi Sheng He Zhiguo Shu Hanyong Bao | 2023 | Journal of Earth Science2023,34,6: | 0 |
