| 3 | Applying reticular synthesis to the design of Cu-based MOFs with mechanically interlocked linkers显示文摘The concept of“robust dynamics”describes the incorporation of mechanically interlocked molecules(MIMs)into metal-organic framework(MOF)materials such that large amplitude motions(e.g.,rotation or translation of a macrocycle)can occur inside the free volume pore of the MOF.To aid in the preparation of such materials,reticular synthesis was used herein to design rigid molecular building blocks with predetermined ordered structures starting from the well-known MOF NOTT-101.New linkers were synthesized that have a T-shape,based on a triphenylene tetra-carboxylate strut,and their incorporation into Cu(II)-based MOFs was investigated.The single-crystal structures of three new MOFs,UWCM-12(fof),β-UWCM-13(loz),UWCM-14(lil),with naked T-shaped linkers were determined;β-UWCM-13 is the first reported example of the loz topology.A fourth MOF,UWDM-14(lil)is analogous to UWCM-14(lil)but contains a[2]rotaxane linker.Variable-temperature,^(2)H solid-state NMR was used to probe the dynamics of a 24-membered macrocycle threaded onto the MOF skeleton. | Alexander J.Stirk Benjamin H.Wilson Christopher A.O’Keefe Hazem Amame Kelong Zhu Robert W.Schurko Stephen J.Loeb | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,2: | 1 |
| 4 | Geomechanical response of overburden caused by CO_2 injection into a depleted oil reservoir显示文摘This study investigates the hydro-mechanical aspects of carbon dioxide(CO_2) injection into a depleted oil reservoir through the use of coupled multiphase fluid flow and geomechanical modeling.Both singlephase and multiphase fluid flow analyses coupled with geomechanics were carried out at the West Pearl Queen depleted oil reservoir site,and modeling results were compared with available measured data.The site geology and the material properties determined on the basis of available geophysical data were used in the analyses.Modeling results from the coupled multiphase fluid flow and geomechanical analyses show that computed fluid pressures match well with available measured data.The hydromechanical properties of the reservoir have a significant influence on computed fluid pressures and surface deformations.Hence,an accurate geologic characterization of the sequestration site and determination of engineering properties are important issues for the reliability of model predictions.The computed fluid pressure response is also significantly influenced by the relative permeability curves used in multiphase fluid flow models.While the multiphase fluid flow models provide more accurate fluid pressure response,single-phase fluid flow models can be used to obtain approximate solutions.The ground surface deformations obtained from single-phase fluid flow models coupled with geomechanics are slightly lower than those predicted by multiphase fluid flow models coupled with geomechanics.However,the advantage of a single-phase model is the simplicity.Limited field monitoring of subsurface fluid pressure and ground surface deformations during fluid injection can be used in calibrating coupled fluid flow and geomechanical models.The calibrated models can be used for investigating the performance of large-scale CO_2 storage in depleted oil reservoirs. | Hema J.Siriwardane Raj K.Gondle Sai B.Varre Grant S.Bromhal Thomas H.Wilson | 2016 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,6: | 0 |
| 5 | Identification of QTL and underlying genes for root system architecture associated with nitrate nutrition in hexaploid wheat显示文摘The root system architecture(RSA) of a crop has a profound effect on the uptake of nutrients and consequently the potential yield. However, little is known about the genetic basis of RSA and resource adaptive responses in wheat(Triticum aestivum L.). Here, a high-throughput germination paper-based plant phenotyping system was used to identify seedling traits in a wheat doubled haploid mapping population, Savannah×Rialto. Significant genotypic and nitrate-N treatment variation was found across the population for seedling traits with distinct trait grouping for root size-related traits and root distribution-related traits. Quantitative trait locus(QTL) analysis identified a total of 59 seedling trait QTLs. Across two nitrate treatments, 27 root QTLs were specific to the nitrate treatment. Transcriptomic analyses for one of the QTLs on chromosome 2 D, which was found under low nitrate conditions, revealed gene enrichment in N-related biological processes and 28 differentially expressed genes with possible involvement in a root angle response.
