2Novel Framework of Segmentation 3D MRI of Brain Tumors显示文摘Medical image segmentation is a crucial process for computer-aided diagnosis and surgery.Medical image segmentation refers to portioning the images into small,disjointed parts for simplifying the processes of analysis and examination.Rician and speckle noise are different types of noise in magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)that affect the accuracy of the segmentation process negatively.Therefore,image enhancement has a significant role in MRI segmentation.This paper proposes a novel framework that uses 3D MRI images from Kaggle and applies different diverse models to remove Rician and speckle noise using the best possible noise-free image.The proposed techniques consider the values of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR)and the level of noise as inputs to the attention-U-Net model for segmentation of the tumor.The framework has been divided into three stages:removing speckle and Rician noise,the segmentation stage,and the feature extraction stage.The framework presents solutions for each problem at a different stage of the segmentation.In the first stage,the framework uses Vibrational Mode Decomposition(VMD)along with Block-matching and 3D filtering(Bm3D)algorithms to remove the Rician.Afterwards,the most significant Rician noise-free images are passed to the three different methods:Deep Residual Network(DeRNet),Dilated Convolution Auto-encoder Denoising Network(Di-Conv-AE-Net),andDenoising Generative Adversarial Network(DGAN-Net)for removing the speckle noise.VMDand Bm3D have achieved PSNR values for levels of noise(0,0.25,0.5,0.75)for reducing the Rician noise by(35.243,32.135,28.214,24.124)and(36.11,31.212,26.215,24.123)respectively.The framework also achieved PSNR values for removing the speckle noise process for each level as follows:(34.146,30.313,28.125,24.001),(33.112,29.103,27.110,24.194),and(32.113,28.017,26.193,23.121)forDeRNet,Di-Conv-AE-Net,and DGAN-Net,respectively.The experiments that have been conducted have proved the efficiency of the proposed framework against classical filters such as Bilateral,Frost,Kuan,and Lee according to different levels of noise.The attention gate U-Net achieved 94.66 and 95.03 in the segmentation of free noise images in dice and accuracy,respectively.Ibrahim Mahmoud El-Henawy Mostafa Elbaz Zainab H.Ali Noha Sakr 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0
3Design and Development of Low-cost Wearable Electroencephalograms (EEG) Headset显示文摘Electroencephalogram(EEG)is a method of capturing the electrophy-siological signal of the brain.An EEG headset is a wearable device that records electrophysiological data from the brain.This paper presents the design and fab-rication of a customized low-cost Electroencephalogram(EEG)headset based on the open-source OpenBCI Ultracortex Mark IV system.The electrode placement locations are modified under a 10–20 standard system.The fabricated headset is then compared to commercially available headsets based on the following para-meters:affordability,accessibility,noise,signal quality,and cost.First,the data is recorded from 20 subjects who used the EEG Headset,and signals were recorded.Secondly,the participants marked the accuracy,set up time,participant comfort,and participant perceived ease of set-up on a scale of 1 to 7(7 being excellent).Thirdly,the self-designed EEG headband is used by 5 participants for slide changing.The raw EEG signal is decomposed into a series of band sig-nals using discrete wavelet transform(DWT).Lastly,thesefindings have been compared to previously reported studies.We concluded that when used for slide-changing control,our self-designed EEG headband had an accuracy of 82.0 percent.We also concluded from the results that our headset performed well on the cost-effectiveness scale,had a reduced setup time of 2±0.5 min(the short-est among all being compared),and demonstrated greater ease of use.Riaz Muhammad Ahmed Ali M.Abid Anwar Toufique Ahmed Soomro Omar AlShorman Adel Alshahrani Mahmoud Masadeh Ghulam Md Ashraf Naif H.Ali Muhammad Irfan Athanasios Alexiou 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,3:0
4Petroleum system analysis-conjoined 3D-static reservoir modeling in a 3-way and 4-way dip closure setting: Insights into petroleum geology of fluvio-marine deposits at BED-2 Field (Western Desert, Egypt)显示文摘Imperfect determination of petroleum system processes coincidence,entrapment and charge timing,along with reservoir heterogeneity can considerably cause high risks throughout exploration and development phases of petroleum.Therefore,a complete subsurface visualization of the petroleum system nature,elements and processes,is badly required.To this end,we corroborated,in this study,static reservoir modeling with petroleum system analysis workflows,to better characterize the Cenomanian fluvio-marine reservoir,sandstones of Bahariya Formation,at Bed-2 Field,Abu Gharadig Basin(Western Desert,Egypt).We used dataset of 2D seismic profiles and well logs of eight wells.The geometry and property of the reservoir were acquired performing static reservoir geocellular modeling approach.The geohistory,timing of charge,migration pathways,and accumulation sites were identified performing 1D and 2D basin modeling approaches.Combining both approaches was aimed at identifying new petroleum prospect areas,and estimating the hydrocarbon volumes,that are the need for such poorly-defined petroleum systems area.As indicated by the constructed,robust,reservoir and 1D-2D basin models,an additional hydrocarbon prospect,to the north central part of Bed-2 Field,is proposed to be drilled during the further oilfield development phases of the area.This prospect has all features that adequately lead to reliable inferences regarding the ultimate petroleum potential of the area.Mohammad A.Abdelwahhab Emad H.Ali Nabil A.Abdelhafez 2023Petroleum2023,9,1:0

6Chlorine as an integrated approach for environmental health and hygiene:A case study on evaluation of the performance of waste stabilization ponds located at 11 governorates in Egypt显示文摘The current study summarizes the current status of wastewater stabilization ponds(WSPs)treatment plants that have already been built in 11 governorates throughout Egypt.Moreover,this study aims to determine the most appropriate chlorine dose for waste stabilization ponds(WSPs)effluents to ensure the treated effluents are suitable for reuse in unrestricted irrigation and to comply with the current legislation on direct discharge onto water bodies.According to the findings,the chlorine doses used as a disinfectant in the treated effluents of the majority of WSP treatment plants ranged from 3 to 13 mg/L.Meanwhile,two of the WSPs treatment plants effluents,the Qus WSPs treatment plant in Qena governorate and the Al Zarabii WSPs treatment plant in Asyut governorate used high chlorine doses reached to 17 and 19 mg/L,respectively.This is due to the fact that both the Qus and Al Zarabii WSPs treatment plants have a high organic load,which necessitated the use of more chlorine to achieve the optimum chlorine dose at 13 mg/L for Qus and 11mg/L for Al Zarabii.The findings demonstrated that chlorine has a powerful effect in completely removing bacteria.Furthermore,in most chlorine-treated wastewater final effluents,as the chlorine doses increased,the chlorophyll-a reading decreased.The amount of trihalomethanes(THMs)produced as disinfectant byproduct was measured.The results proved that the water can be used in unrestricted irrigation,and after adding chlorine,it can be dumped on water bodies without health risks.Sayeda M.Abdo Mohamed Azab El-Liethy Hala S.Doma Gamila E.El Taweel Gamila H.Ali 2022Emerging Contaminants2022,8,1:0
7Production and Mechanical Behaviour of Biomedical CoCrMo Alloy显示文摘Cobalt-based alloy(Co-30Cr-5.5Mo)is produced by the investment casting process.This alloy complies with the ASTM F75 standard and is widely used in the manufacturing of orthopedic implants because of its high strength,good corrosion resistance and excellent biocompatibility properties.SEM,XRD and microhardness tests are used to examine the mechanical properties of the material.The examined material exhibits the behaviour of indentation size effect(ISE).Our results reveal that Vickers and Knoop microhardness are dependent on indentation test load.The traditional Meyer's law,the proportional specimen resistance(PSR)model and the Hays-Kendall model(HK)are used to analyze the load dependence of the hardness.As a result,the Hays-Kendall model is found to be the most effective to determine the load-independent hardness HLI of CoCrMo alloy.O.Sahin A.Rıza Tuncdemir H.Ali Cetinkara H.Salih Guder E.Sahin 2011Chinese Physics Letters2011,28,12:0
8Corrosion Protection of 5083 AA in SalineWater by Polyacrylonitrile Nanofibers显示文摘Polymeric nanofibers are a promising technology to protect the metal surfaces from corrosion.Through the literature search,the use of polyacrylonitrile nanofibres(PANNFs)as a corrosion inhibitor coating for aluminum alloys has not been evaluated.This work includes the development of a new,lightweight,high surface area and efficient coating of PANNFs that produced using electrospinning process to resist the corrosion of aluminum alloys(AA5083)which immersed in 0.6 M NaCl at alkaline medium(pH=12)and acidic medium(pH=1)at a range of temperatures(293–323)K.The PANNFs coating was successfully deposited on AA 5083 specimens,where these samples were considered as a collector electrode in the electrospinning process.The corrosion experiments of the aluminum alloys coated with PANNFs before and after immersion in both corrosive mediums were investigated using cyclic potential polarization(CPP).The results confirmed that the PANNFs coating was able to protect the surface of the aluminum specimens from corrosion,by reducing the corrosion current and increasing the surface polarization resistance,thus reducing the corrosion rate.The protection efficiency was found in the alkaline medium 98.8%while in the acidic medium 83.3%.So,it was in both mediums decreased with the increase in temperature.The shape,distribution and size of the polymeric nanofibers that formed the coating were also examined using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)and the percentages of the structural components of these fibers were detected using the X-ray dispersion spectroscopy(EDS).The surface of aluminum specimens was completely covered by PANNFs.These electrospun nanofibers have worn out and lined up spacing after immersion in the corrosive mediums.The diameters average of PANNFs was found to be about 200 and 150 nm before and after immersion,respectively.Enas H.Ali Juman A.Naser Zainab W.Ahmed Taki A.Himdan 2021Journal of Renewable Materials2021,9,11:0
