| 1 | Experience with hemoadsorption (CytoSorb~?) in the management of septic shock patients显示文摘BACKGROUND Cytokines and inflammatory mediators are the hallmarks of sepsis.Extracorporeal cytokine hemoadsorption devices are the newer clinical support system to overcome the cytokine storm during sepsis.AIM To retrospectively evaluate the clinical outcomes of patients admitted in intensive care unit with septic shock with different etiologies.METHODS The laboratory parameters including biomarkers such as procalcitonin,serum lactate and C-reactive protein;and the hemodynamic parameters;mean arterial pressure,vasopressor doses,sepsis scores,cytokine levels and other vital parameters were evaluated.We evaluated these outcomes among survivors and non-survivors.RESULTS Of 100 patients evaluated,40 patients survived.Post treatment,the vasopressors dosage remarkably decreased though it was not statistically different;34.15%(P=0.0816)for epinephrine,20.5%for norepinephrine(P=0.3099)and 51%(P=0.0678)for vasopressin.In the survivor group,a remarkable reduction of biomarkers levels;procalcitonin(65%,P=0.5859),C-reactive protein(27%,P=0.659),serum lactate(27%,P=0.0159)and bilirubin(43.11%;P=0.0565)were observed from baseline after CytoSorb^® therapy.A significant reduction in inflammatory markers;interleukin 6 and interleukin 10;(87%and 92%,P<0.0001)and in tumour necrosis factor(24%,P=0.0003)was also seen.Overall,28(28%)patients who were given CytoSorb^® therapy less than 48 h after onset of septic shock survived and the maximum duration of stay for 70%of these patients in intensive care unit was less than 15 d.CONCLUSION CytoSorb^® is a safe and well tolerated rescue therapy option in patients with septic shock.However,early(preferably within<48 h after onset of septic shock)initiation could result in better clinical outcomes.Further randomized trials are needed to define the potential benefits of this new treatment modality. | Yatin Mehta Chitra Mehta Ashish Kumar Joby Varghese George Aditi Gupta Saurabh Nanda Gourav Kochhar Arun Raizada | 2020 | World Journal of Critical Care Medicine2020,9,1: | 2 |

| 3 | Evaluation and analysis of entrance surface air kerma of the thyroid gland during breast cancer screening mammography显示文摘Objective:To evaluate and analyze entrance surface air kerma(ESAK)of the thyroid during mammographies performed in a breast cancer screening program.Methods:The ESAK was measured for the left and right lobes of the thyroid gland for 120 female subjects undergoing routine mammographic screenings.All measurements were single-handedly performed on the Hitachi Hologic LORAD M-IVTM screen-film mammography system.Radiation dose measurements were made using optically stimulated luminescent dosimeters(OSLD)nanoDot™taped appropriately to the skin overlying the right and left lobes of the thyroid gland.The standard technique of two craniocaudal(CC)views and two mediolateral oblique(MLO)views with appropriate compression was used during the screening.Results:The average ESAK was(287102)μGy.The value of radiation dose to the thyroid was estimated as 71.17μGy.Compresssed breast thichness(CBT)was found as key parameter influencing radiation dose to the thyroid gland during mammography.ESAK changed approximately two folds for the CBT range of 2–5 cm.Radiation dose to the thyroid gland was increased with higher body mass index(BMI).Conculsions:A proper compression of the breast is crucial for the mammographic examination.In addition to applied exposure factors for examination,breast compression is the principal and influencing factor that affects various other parameters used during mammographic examinations,which in turn impact radiation dose to the thyroid gland. | Rajni Verma Gourav Kumar Jain Arun Chougule | 2021 | Radiation Medicine and Protection2021,2,2: | 1 |

| 5 | The Characteristics of Glued Tensile Shear Strength Constituted of Wood Cut by CO_(2) Laser显示文摘The performance of engineered wood products is highly associated with proper bonding and an efficient cutting method.This paper investigates the influence of CO_(2) laser cutting on the wetting properties,the modified che-mical component of the laser-cut surface,and the strength and adhesive penetration near the bondline.Beech-wood is cut by the laser with varying processing parameters,cutting speeds,gas pressures,and focal point positions.The laser-cut samples were divided into two groups,sanded and non-sanded samples.Polyvinyl acetate adhesive(PVAc)was used to bond the groups of laser-cut samples.After assembly with cold pressing,the tensile shear test was carried out.Numerical modelling was carried out to determine the partial elongation and shear strain of the glue line.Based on this,the shear modulus and linear elasticity of the glue line were estimated.Scan-ning electron microscopy was used to assess the adhesive penetration into the porosity structure of the laser-cut samples,and the depth of the heat-affected zone.The laser-cut surface was analysed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The wetting properties of the laser-cut surface were investigated by using a contact angle goni-ometer.The numerical model of the strain-stress curve confirmed the experimental model.The highest modulus of the linear elasticity of the glue in the numerical calculation belongs to the joint containing laser-cut samples at a gas pressure of 21(bar).The penetration depth of PVAc adhesive into the porosity structure of the laser-cut sam-ples was similar to that of sawn samples.The deepest heat-affected zone in the laser-cut samples was 150µm.A PVAc drop disappeared immediately on the laser-cut surface without sanding,but gradually on the sanded surface.In contrast,the drop on the sawn surface remained with an angle of 32°–48°.The degradation of hemi-cellulose and lignin was proven by the lower intensity of the C=O and C-O Bonds,compared to the sawn surface. | Fatemeh Rezaei Milan Gaff Róbert Nemeth Jerzy Smardzewski Peter Niemz Haitao Li Anil Kumar Sethy Luigi Todaro Gourav Kamboj Sumanta Das Roberto Corleto Gianluca Ditommaso Miklós Bak | 2023 | Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,8: | 0 |
| 6 | A remote sensing based analysis of climate change in Sikkim supported by evidence from the field显示文摘The Himalayas hailed as the‘water towers of the world’feed many perennial rivers which form the lifeline of the Indian sub-continent.Climate change induced rising global temperatures and changing rainfall patterns are currently threatening the glaciers that feed the rivers.The combination of these factors is causing water stresses to a part of the world which is usually considered water abundant.Though there are some large-scale studies done in the Himalayas,regional analysis of changing rainfall patterns and their impacts on vegetation and agriculture is lacking.Here we focus on the Indian state of Sikkim located in the Eastern Himalayas to evaluate these issues using mixed methods.We use satellite data from PERSIANN and MODIS to characterise the regional rainfall,vegetation,and surface temperature trends between 2001 and 2019.While the analysis shows overall declining rainfall trends across most land cover classes,the trends in temperature are mostly positive for the period of study,with winter Land Surface Temperature(LST)values showing the largest area with marginally significant(p<0.1)positive trends.In contrast,such patterns are not observed for agriculture.However,the interviews corroborate that even agriculture is impacted,implying that the trends continue at finer spatial scales too.The lack of government support for adaptation and mitigation is also lamented placing the communities at a precarious position to continuing climate change. | Rumia BASU Gourav MISRA Dipto SARKAR | 2021 | Journal of Mountain Science2021,18,5: | 0 |
| 7 | Implementation of safety and security standards for high dose rate brachytherapy sealed radioactive source used in a medical radiation facility显示文摘Objective:To provide guidance on basic concepts and elements for radiation safety and security measures for a HDR brachytherapy sealed radioactive source in a medical radiation facility.Methods:Brachytherapy sources are Category 2(High risk-very dangerous)radioactive source and Security Level B applied to cover the range of security measures needed for the associated risk with remote afterloading HDR brachytherapy sources.These security measures were applied based on a risk informed graded approach.A series of in-build and operational safety measures were implemented for equipment and radiation installation.Results:The medical radiation facility equipped with adequate radiation protection,detection and monitoring equipment such as survey meter,digital contamination monitor,gamma zone monitor,digital radiation monitor,personnel dosimeter,pocket dosimeter,long handled forceps,shielding material and emergency source storage container etc.to deal with radiological incidences.The contingency plan with security objectives for incidents and procedures for action was prepared in order to implement response function to fulfill the goal of adequate security of radioactive source.The emergency response plan documented against emergency scenarios during transport,loss of radioactive source,theft,sabotage,natural calamities/disasters such as fire,flood and earthquake.Conculsions:The paper provides various radiation safety and security aspects for the HDR brachytherapy.The HDR brachytherapy radioactive sources are Type A packages.Transport of radioactive material is the responsibility of consignors,consignee and carriers under the legislation,supervision and control of regulatory authority. | Rajni Verma Gourav Kumar Jain Arun Chougule | 2020 | Radiation Medicine and Protection2020,1,4: | 0 |
| 8 | Optical Spectroscopy of Classical Be Stars in Old Open Clusters显示文摘We performed the optical spectroscopy of 16 classical Be stars in 11 open clusters older than 100 Myr.Ours is the first spectroscopic study of classical Be stars in open clusters older than 100 Myr.We found that the Hαemission strength of most of the stars is less than 40?,in agreement with previous studies.Our analysis further suggests that one of the stars,[KW97]35–12,might be a weak Hαemitter in nature,showing Hαequivalent width of-0.5?.Interestingly,we also found that the newly detected classical Be star LSⅢ+4737b might be a component of the possible visual binary system LSⅢ+4737,where the other companion is also a classical Be star.Hence,the present study indicates the possible detection of a binary Be system.Moreover,it is observed that all 16 stars exhibit a lesser number of emission lines compared to classical Be stars younger than 100 Myr.Furthermore,the spectral type distribution analysis of B-type and classical Be stars for the selected clusters points out that the existence of CBe stars can depend on the spectral type distribution of B-type stars present in these clusters. | Madhu Kashyap Jagadeesh Blesson Mathew K.T.Paul Gourav Banerjee Suman Bhattacharyya R.Anusha Pramod Kumar S. | 2023 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,3: | 0 |
