| 2 | Studying thin film damping in a micro-beam resonator based on non-classical theories显示文摘In this paper, a mathematical model is presented for studying thin film damping of the surrounding fluid in an in-plane oscillating micro-beam resonator. The proposed model for this study is made up of a clamped-clamped micro-beam bound between two fixed layers. The microgap between the micro-beam and fixed layers is filled with air. As classical theories are not properly capable of predicting the size dependence behaviors of the micro-beam,and also behavior of micro-scale fluid media, hence in the presented model, equation of motion governing longitudinal displacement of the micro-beam has been extracted based on non-local elasticity theory. Furthermore, the fluid field has been modeled based on micro-polar theory. These coupled equations have been simplified using Newton-Laplace and continuity equations. After transforming to non-dimensional form and linearizing, the equations have been discretized and solved simultaneously using a Galerkin-based reduced order model. Considering slip boundary conditions and applying a complex frequency approach, the equivalent damping ratio and quality factor of the micro-beam resonator have been obtained. The obtained values for the quality factor have been compared to those based on classical theories. We have shown that applying non-classical theories underestimate the values of the quality factor obtained based on classical theo-ries. | 7 | Investigation of wax precipitation in crude oil:Experimental and modeling显示文摘In this work,a series of experiments were carried to investigation of rheological behavior of crude oil using waxy crude oil sample in the absence/presence of flow improver such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.The rheological data covered the temperature range of 5e30C.The results indicated that the performance of flow improver was dependent on its molecular weight.Addition of small quantities of flow improver,can improve viscosity and pour point of crude oil.Also,an Artificial Neural Network(ANN)model using Multi-Layer Perceptron(MLP)topology has been developed to account wax appearance temperature and the amount of precipitated wax and the model was verified using experimental data given in this work and reported in the literature.In order to compare the performance of the proposed model based on Artificial Neural Network,the wax precipitation experimental data at different temperatures were predicted using solid solution model and multi-solid phase model.The results showed that the developed model based on Artificial Neural Network can predict more accurately the wax precipitation experimental data in comparison to the previous models such as solid solution and multi-solid phase model with AADs less than 0.5%.Furthermore,the number of parameters required for the Artificial Neural Network(ANN)model is less than the studied thermodynamic models. | Taraneh Jafari Behbahani Ali Akbar Miran Beigi Zahra Taheri Bahram Ghanbari | 2015 | Petroleum2015,1,3: | 2 |
| 8 | Predicting seismic permanent displacement of soil walls under surcharge based on limit analysis approach显示文摘Seismic permanent displacement of the soil walls plays an important role in design of these structures. Due to the increase in growth of urban areas and the limitations in use of flat grounds, many structures are built near slopes and retaining walls. During earthquakes, these structures can apply an additional surcharge on the wall. The intensity and location of the surcharge is of considerable importance on the seismic displacements of the soil wall. In this study, by using the limit analysis and upper bound theorem, seismic permanent displacement of the soil wall under surcharge has been analyzed. Thus, a formulation is presented for calculating the yield acceleration and seismic displacement for different surcharge conditions. The effect of seismic acceleration, surcharge intensity, its location and soil properties is investigated. | 11 | Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection: Role of interleukin-6 and the inflammatory cascade显示文摘Since December 2019,a novel coronavirus that represents a serious threat to human lives has emerged.There is still no definite treatment for severe cases of the disease caused by this virus,named coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).One of the most considered treatment strategies targets the exaggerated immune regulator,and interleukin(IL)-6 is a crucial pro-inflammatory mediator.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)cases show an elevated level of IL-6 related to disease severity.IL-6 activity can be inhibited by the following:IL-6 itself,IL-6 signaling pathways such as Janus kinase and signal transducer and activator of transcription(JAK-STAT),gp130,IL-6R,and downstream activated ILs,such as IL-17 and IL-6 cytokine.Currently,according to these studies and their results,IL-6 blockade with anti-IL-6 or its receptor antibodies such as tocilizumab in COVID-19 is beneficial in severe cases and may reduce the mortality rate.JAK-STAT inhibitors block the cytokine storm by inhibiting several crucial pro-inflammatory mediators such as TNF-αand IL-6 and have shown various results in clinical trials.IL-6 induces IL-17 secretion,and IL-17 is involved in the pathogenesis of inflammatory processes.Clinical trials of anti-IL-17 drugs are currently recruiting,and anti-gp130 antibody is preclinical.However,this agent has shown positive effects in inflammatory bowel disease clinical trials and could be tested for SARS-CoV-2.This study aimed to review the role of IL-6 in the cytokine storm and studies regarding IL-6 and blockade of its inflammatory pathways in COVID-19 to determine if any of these agents are beneficial for COVID-19 patients. | Mohaddeseh Bahmani Rojin Chegini Elham Ghanbari Elham Sheykhsaran Parisa Shiri Aghbash HamedEbrahimzadeh Leylabadlo Ehsan Moradian Amir Masoud Kazemzadeh Houjaghan Hossein Bannazadeh Baghi | 2022 | World Journal of Virology2022,11,3: | 2 |

| 14 | Royal-jelly-based apitherapy can attenuate damages to male reproductive parameter following nicotine administration显示文摘Background:Nicotine administration can generate severe oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation.Royal jelly,with its antioxidant properties,acts as a scavenger of reactive oxygen species.This study describes the apitherapy effects of royal jelly on testicular damage following nicotine administration.Methods:Forty-eight male BALB/c mice were divided into 8 groups(n=6):saline,3 different doses of royal jelly(100,150,and 200 mg/kg body weight(BW)per day),nicotine(1.5 mg/kg),and 3 different groups of Nic+Roy(1.5 mg/kg of Nic+100,150,and 200 mg/kg BW per day of royal jelly).Nicotine was administrated intraperitoneally,and royal jelly was prescribed orally for 10 consecutive days.Serum levels of hormones(testosterone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle-stimulating hormone),total antioxidant capacity,nitric oxide(NO)status,malondialdehyde levels,sperm DNA fragmentation,sperm parameters,histopathological changes(H&E staining),immunohistochemistry against apoptotic proteins,and gene expression of Bcl-2,p53,Caspase-3,and Nrf2(real-time PCR)were assessed to evaluate the molecular and histological changes.Results:Hormone levels,sperm parameters,and status of antioxidants were decreased significantly(p<.05)following nicotine administration.Moreover,royal jelly treatment normalized hormonal and antioxidant characteristics,decreased apoptotic gene expression,increased Nfr2 gene expression,and restored histopathological alteration to the physiological status significantly(p<.05).Conclusion:Royal jelly upregulates the antioxidant status,inhibits the mitochondrialdependent apoptosis pathway,and increases the rate of proliferation.This therapeutic agent effectively protected the testis against nicotine-associated damages by antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects. | Mahsa Nazar-Zadeh Cyrus Jalili Amene Nikgoftar Fathi Ali Ghanbari Mitra Bakhtiari | 2022 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2022,5,2: | 2 |
