Organochlorine compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in surface sediment from Baiyangdian Lake,North China:Concentrations, sources profiles and potential risk显示文摘Organochlorine pesticides(OCPs),polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs),and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) were determined in nineteen surface sediment samples collected from Baiyangdian Lake and its inflowing river(Fuhe River) in North China.Total concentrations of OCPs,PCBs and PAHs in sediments ranged from 5.4 to 707.6 ng/g,2.3 to 197.8 ng/g,and 101.3 to 6360.5 ng/g,respectively.The levels of contaminants in Fuhe River were significantly higher than those in Baiyandian Lake. For hexachlorocyclohexane(HCHs) and dichlorodiphenytrichloroethanes(DDTs),α-HCH and p,p-DDT were predominant isomers;while for PCBs,PCB 28/31,PCB 40/103,PCB 60,PCB 101,and PCB 118 were predominant congeners.Possible sources derived from historical usage for OCPs and incomplete combustion fuel, wood, and coal and exhaustion of boats or cars for PAHs.Risk assessment of sediment indicated that sediments in Fuhe River were likely to pose potential biological adverse impact. | Guocheng Hu Xiaojun Luo Fengchao Li Jiayin Dai Jianyang Guo Shejun Chen Cao Hong Bixian Mai Muqi Xu | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2: | 42
A novel m6A reader Prrc2a controls oligodendroglial specification and myelination显示文摘While N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA, is linked to cell differentiation and tissue development, the biological significance of m6A modification in mammalian glial development remains unknown. Here, we identify a novel m6A reader, Prrc2a (Proline rich coiled-coil 2A), which controls oligodendrocyte specification and myelination. Nestin-Cre-mediated knockout of Prrc2a induces significant hypomyelination, decreased lifespan, as well as locomotive and cognitive defects in a mouse model. Further analyses reveal that Prrc2a is involved in oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) proliferation and oligodendrocyte fate determination. Accordingly, oligodendroglial-lineage specific deletion of Prrc2a causes a similar phenotype of Nestin-Cre-mediated deletion. Combining transcriptome-wide RNA-seq, m6A-RIP-seq and Prrc2a RIP-seq analysis, we find that Olig2 is a critical downstream target gene of Prrc2a in oligodendrocyte development. Furthermore, Prrc2a stabilizes Olig2 mRNA through binding to a consensus GGACU motif in the Olig2 CDS (coding sequence) in an m6A-dependent manner. Interestingly, we also find that the m6A demethylase, Fto, erases the m6A modification of Olig2 mRNA and promotes its degradation. Together, our results indicate that Prrc2a plays an important role in oligodendrocyte specification through functioning as a novel m6A reader. These findings suggest a new avenue for the development of therapeutic strategies for hypomyelination-related neurological diseases. | Rong Wu Ang Li Baofa Sun Jian-Guang Sun Jinhua Zhang Ting Zhang Yusheng Chen Yujie Xiao Yuhao Gao Qingyang Zhang Jun Ma Xin Yang Yajin Liao Wei-Yi Lai Xiaolong Qi Shukun Wang Yousheng Shu Hai-Lin Wang Fengchao Wang Yun-Gui Yang Zengqiang Yuan | 2019 | Cell Research2019,29,1: | 32
Type I IFN augments IL-27-dependent TRIM25 expression to inhibit HBV replication显示文摘Hepatitis B virus(HBV)can cause chronic hepatitis B,which may lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer.Type I interferon(IFN)is an approved drug for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B.However, the fundamental mechanisms of antiviral action by type I IFN and the downstream signaling pathway are unclear.TRIM25 is an IFN-stimulated gene(ISG)that has an important role in RIG-I ubiquitination and activation.Whether TRIM25 is induced in liver cells by type I IFN to mediate anti-HBV function remains unclear. Here we report that interleukin-27(IL-27)has a critical role in IFN-induced TRIM25 upregulation.TRIM25 induction requires both STAT1 and STAT3.In TRIM25 knockout HepG2 cells, type I IFN production was consistently attenuated and HBV replication was increased, whereas overexpression of TRIM25 in HepG2 cells resulted in elevated IFN production and reduced HBV replication.More interestingly,we found that TRIM25 expression was downregulated in HBV patients and the addition of serum samples from HBV patients could inhibit TRIM25 expression in HepG2 cells, suggesting that HBV might have involved a mechanism to inhibit antiviral ISG expression and induce IFN resistance.Collectively, our results demonstrate that type I IFN-induced TRIM25 is an important factor in inhibiting HBV replication, and the IFN-IL-27-TRIM25 axis may represent a new target for treating HBV infection. | Guangyun Tan Qingfei Xiao Hongxiao Song Feng Ma Fengchao Xu Di Peng Na Li Xiaosong Wang Junqi Niu Pujun Gao F Xiao-Feng Qin Genhong Cheng | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,3: | 13
Understanding formation mechanism of ZnO diatomic chain and multi-shell structure using physical mechanics:Molecular dynamics and first-principle simulations显示文摘In this paper, the possibility of the monatomic chain (MC) formation for ZnO material was studied by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The process of MC formation and the effects of temperature, strain rate and size were studied extensively. The tensile process can be divided to be five stages and the ZnO diatomic chain (DC) can be found. The MD results show that most atoms in MC came from the original surface of ZnO nanowires (NWs).Temperature and strain rate are two important factors affecting the process, and both high temperature and low strain rate in a certain range would be beneficial to the formation of DC.Moreover, the effects of strain rate and temperature could attribute to the Arrhenius model and the energy release mechanism.Furthermore,multi-shell structure was found for the samples under tensile strain and the layer-layer distance was about 3.Our studies based on density functional theory showed that the most stable structure of ZnO DC was confirmed to be linear, and the I-V curve was also got using ATK. | WANG BinBin WANG FengChao ZHAO YaPu | 2012 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,6: | 9
The apricot(Prunus armeniaca L.)genome elucidates Rosaceae evolution and beta-carotenoid synthesis显示文摘Apricots, scientifically known as Prunus armeniaca L,are drupes that resemble and are closely related to peaches or plums. As one of the top consumed fruits, apricots are widely grown worldwide except in Antarctica.A high-quality reference genome for apricot is still unavailable, which has become a handicap that has dramatically limited the elucidation of the associations of phenotypes with the genetic background, evolutionary diversity, and population diversity in apricot.DNA from P.armeniaca was used to generate a standard,size-selected library with an average DNA fragment size of~20 kb.The library was run on Sequel SMRT Cells, generating a total of 16.54 Gb of PacBio subreads(N50=13.55 kb).The high-quality P.armeniaca reference genome presented here was assembled using long-read single-molecule sequencing at approximately 70×coverage and 171×Illumina reads(40.46 Gb),combined with a genetic map for chromosome scaffolding. The assembled genome size was 221.9 Mb,with a contig NG50 size of 1.02 Mb.Scaffolds covering 92.88%of the assembled genome were anchored on eight chromosomes.Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs analysis showed 98.0%complete genes. We predicted 30,436 protein-coding genes, and 38.28%of the genome was predicted to be repetitive. We found 981 contracted gene families,1324 expanded gene families and 2300 apricot-specific genes. The differentially expressed gene(DEG)analysis indicated that a change in the expression of the 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase(NCED)gene but not lycopene beta-cyclase(LcyB)gene results in a lowβ-carotenoid content in the white cultivar“Dabaixing”.This complete and highly contiguous P.armeniaca reference genome will be of help for future studies of resistance to plum pox virus(PPV)and the identification and characterization of important agronomic genes and breeding strategies in apricot. | Fengchao Jiang Junhuan Zhang Sen Wang Li Yang Yingfeng Luo Shenghan Gao Meiling Zhang Shuangyang Wu Songnian Hu Haoyuan Sun Yuzhu Wang | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 9
Pore Structure Characteristics and Permeability of Deep Sedimentary Rocks Determined by Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry显示文摘Pore structure characteristics of rock are a great concern for researchers and practitioners in rock mechanics and rock engineering fields. In this study, mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP) was used to measure pore size distribution, as well as several important index parameters of pore structure, for seven common types of deep sedimentary rocks with a total of fifty rock samples. Results show a similar pore size distribution pattern of the rock samples in the same lithological group, but remarkable differences among different lithological groups. Among seven investigated rock types, mudstone has the smallest porosity of 3.37%, while conglomerate has the largest value of 18.8%. It is also found that the porosity of rock types with finer grain size is lower than those with coarser grain size. Meanwhile, a comparison of frequency distribution at ten intervals of pore-throat diameter among seven types of sedimentary rocks reveals that different rock types have different dominant pore-size ranges. Furthermore, permeability of the investigated sedimentary rock samples was derived based on MIP data using reported theoretical equations. Among seven rock types, mudstone has the lowest averaged permeability(3.64×10^(-6) mD) while conglomerate has the highest one(8.59×10^(-4) mD). From mudstone to conglomerate, rock permeability increases with an increase of grain size, with only an exception of siltstone which has a relatively larger porosity value. Finally, regression analysis show that there is a good fitting(R^2=0.95) between permeability and porosity which could be easily used to derive reliable permeability values of similar kinds of engineering rocks. | Na Zhang Manchao He Bo Zhang Fengchao Qiao Hailong Sheng Qinhong Hu | 2016 | Journal of Earth Science2016,27,4: | 9
Diurnal dynamics of soil respiration and the influencing factors for three land-cover types in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘Knowledge of soil respiration and the influencing factors in desert ecosystems is essential to understanding carbon dynamics and responses of biotic and abiotic processes in soils to climate change. In this study, soil respiration rate(R_s) for three land-cover types(shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land) in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert was measured in May 2015 using an automated soil CO_2 flux system. The effects of soil temperature(T_s) and soil water content(W_s) on R_s were also analyzed. The results showed that R_s values in shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land were all low and exhibited obvious diurnal fluctuations. The establishment of straw checkerboard barriers in sandy land had no significant effect on R_s, while the establishment of shelterbelts significantly increased R_s. Shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers were carbon sinks at night and early morning and were carbon sources in the daytime, while shelter forest land always acted as a carbon source during the whole day. The synergistic effect of T_s and W_s could better explain the diurnal dynamics in R_s than single factor. In shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, W_s was identified as a limiting factor influencing the diurnal dynamics of R_s. Furthermore, a relatively strong hysteresis loop existed between R_s and T_s. In contrast, in shelter forest land, R_s was significantly influenced by T_s, and a relatively weaker hysteresis loop existed between R_s and W_s. | YANG Fan ALI Mamtimin ZHENG Xinqian HE Qing YANG Xinghua HUO Wen LIANG Fengchao WANG Shaoming | 2017 | Journal of Arid Land2017,9,4: | 7

Molecular kinetic theory of boundary slip on textured surfaces by molecular dynamics simulations显示文摘A theoretical model extended from the Frenkel-Eyring molecular kinetic theory(MKT)was applied to describe the boundary slip on textured surfaces. The concept of the equivalent depth of potential well was adopted to characterize the solid-liquid interactions on the textured surfaces. The slip behaviors on both chemically and topographically textured surfaces were investigated using molecular dynamics(MD)simulations. The extended MKT slip model is validated by our MD simulations under various situations,by constructing different complex surfaces and varying the surface wettability as well as the shear stress exerted on the liquid. This slip model can provide more comprehensive understanding of the liquid flow on atomic scale by considering the influence of the solid-liquid interactions and the applied shear stress on the nano-flow.Moreover,the slip velocity shear-rate dependence can be predicted using this slip model, since the nonlinear increase of the slip velocity under high shear stress can be approximated by a hyperbolic sine function. | WANG LiYa WANG FengChao YANG FuQian WU HengAn | 2014 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,11: | 4
Molecular mechanism of adsorption/desorption hysteresis:dynamics of shale gas in nanopores显示文摘Understanding the adsorption and desorption behavior of methane has received considerable attention since it is one of the crucial aspects of the exploitation of shale gas.Unexpectedly, obvious hysteresis is observed from the ideally reversible physical sorption of methane in some experiments. However, the underlying mechanism still remains an open problem. In this study,Monte Carlo(MC) and molecular dynamics(MD) simulations are carried out to explore the molecular mechanisms of adsorption/desorption hysteresis.First,a detailed analysis about the capillary condensation of methane in micropores is presented. The influence of pore width, surface strength, and temperature on the hysteresis loop is further investigated. It is found that a disappearance of hysteresis occurs above a temperature threshold.Combined with the phase diagram of methane,we explicitly point out that capillary condensation is inapplicable for the hysteresis of shale gas under normal temperature conditions.Second,a new mechanism, variation of pore throat size,is proposed and studied. For methane to pass through the throat,a certain energy is required due to the repulsive interaction. The required energy increases with shrinkage of the throat, such that the originally adsorbed methane cannot escape through the narrowed throat. These trapped methane molecules account for the hysteresis.Furthermore, the hysteresis loop is found to increase with the increasing pressure and decreasing temperature. We suggest that the variation of pore throat size can explain the adsorption/desorption hysteresis of shale gas.Our conclusions and findings are of great significance for guiding the efficient exploitation of shale gas. | Jie Chen FengChao Wang He Liu HengAn Wu | 2017 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2017,60,1: | 3
Molecular transport under extreme confinement显示文摘Mass transport through the nanoporous medium is ubiquitous in nature and industry.Unlike the macroscale transport phenomena which have been well understood by the theory of continuum mechanics, the relevant physics and mechanics on the nanoscale transport still remain mysterious.Recent developments in fabrication of slit-like nanocapillaries with precise dimensions and atomically smooth surfaces have promoted the fundamental research on the molecular transport under extreme confinement. In this review,we summarized the contemporary progress in the study of confined molecular transport of water, ions and gases, based on both experiments and molecular dynamics simulations. The liquid exhibits a pronounced layered structure that extends over several intermolecular distances from the solid surface, which has a substantial influence on static properties and transport behaviors under confinement.Latest studies have also shown that those molecular details could provide some new understanding on the century-old classical theory in this field. | FengChao Wang JianHao Qian JingCun Fan JinChuan Li HengYu Xu HengAn Wu | 2022 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2022,65,6: | 3
Type III interferon-induced CBFβinhibits HBV replication by hijacking HBx显示文摘Hepatitis B virus(HBV)and its associated chronic infection remain serious health threats worldwide. However, there is still no impactful approach for clinical treatment of hepatitis B patients. Therefore, developing a better understanding of the interactions between HBV and its host is particularly important.HBV infection has been reported to induce type-III but not type-I or type-II interferon(IFN).In this study,we identified CBFβ,an HIV enhancer,as an HBV restriction factor that is specifically induced by type-III IFN in the early stages of HBV infection.Type-III IFN-induced IL-10 played an important role in the production of CBFβ.Interestingly, the interaction between CBFβ-and HBV-encoded regulatory protein X(HBx)enhanced the stability of CBFβ,but notably blocked HBx-mediated promotion of HBV replication.CBFβexpression was lower in HBV patients than in healthy persons, and the addition of serum from HBV patients inhibited CBFβexpression in HepG2 cells. On the contrary,HBV via HBsAg inhibited type-III IFN-induced CBFβexpression and decreased the anti-HBV activity of type-III IFN,suggesting that HBV inhibits antiviral interferon-stimulated gene(ISG)expression and induces IFN resistance.Collectively, our results demonstrate that type-III IFN-triggered and IL-10-induced CBFβare crucial factors for inhibiting HBV replication, and the HBx–CBFβ–HBsAg axis reveals a new molecular mechanism of interaction between HBV and its hosts. | Fengchao Xu Hongxiao Song Qingfei Xiao Na Li Hong Zhang Genhong Cheng Guangyun Tan | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,4: | 3
Nature inspired hierarchical structures in nano-cellular epoxy/graphene-Fe3O4 nanocomposites with ultra-efficient EMI and robust mechanical strength显示文摘Hierarchical layered structures, whether in a compact form like nacre or a porous manner like bone, are well known for their combined features of high stiffness, strength, and lightweight, inspiring many man-made materials and structures for high performance applications. The use of nacre/bone like hierarchical structures in polymer nanocomposites can achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties with high filler volume fractions after carefully aligning functional nanofillers, although the fabrication and processing remain a great challenge. In this work,a bio-inspired lightweight nano-cellular epoxy/graphene-Fe_(3)O_(4) nanocomposite with high nanofiller loading of 75 wt.%was successfully fabricated by combining features from both nacre and bone structures, via a simple compression molding process together with an eco-friendly supercritical CO_(2) foaming process to achieve robust mechanical strength and excellent electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding effectiveness(SE)simultaneously.Highly aligned graphene-Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoplatelets with well controlled nanoscale porous structures(52.6 nm)enabled both low density(1.26 g/cm^(3))and high specific EMI SE>5200 dB/cm^(2)/g,as well as preserved tensile strength of 67 MPa.This study provides a sustainable route to fabricate nature mimicked structures with high performance and high flexibility for a wide range of applications, from portable electronics to healthcare devices. | Xun Fan Fengchao Wang Qiang Gao Yu Zhang Fei Huang Ronglin Xiao Jianbin Qin Han Zhang Xuetao Shi Guangcheng Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,8: | 2
Rice GLUTATHIONE PEROXIDASE1-mediated oxidation of bZIP68 positively regulates ABA-independent osmotic stress signaling显示文摘Osmotic stress caused by drought and high salinity is a significant environmental threat that limits plant growth and agricultural yield. Redox regulation plays an important role in plant stress responses, but the mechanisms by which plants perceive and transduce redox signals are still underexplored. Here, we report a critical function for the thiol peroxidase GPX1 in osmotic stress response in rice, where it serves as a redox sensor and transducer. GPX1 is quickly oxidized upon exposure to osmotic stress and forms an intramolecular disulfide bond, which is required for the activation of bZIP68, a VRE-like basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor involved in the ABA-independent osmotic stress response pathway. The disulfide exchange between GPX1 and bZIP68 induces homo-tetramerization of bZIP68 and thus positively regulates osmotic stress response by regulating osmotic-responsive gene expression. Furthermore, we discovered that the nuclear translocation of GPX1 is regulated by its acetylation under osmotic stress. Taken together, our findings not only uncover the redox regulation of the GPX1-bZIP68 module during osmotic stress but also highlight the coordination of protein acetylation and redox signaling in plant osmotic stress responses. | Heng Zhou Feng Zhang Fengchao Zhai Ye Su Ying Zhou Zhenglin Ge Priyadarshini Tilak Jürgen Eirich Iris Finkemeier Ling Fu Zongmin Li Jing Yang Wenbiao Shen Xingxing Yuan Yanjie Xie | 2022 | Molecular Plant2022,15,4: | 2
Optical and electrical properties of a spiral LED filament显示文摘This paper introduces a new type of spiral white light-emitting diodes(WLED) filament with high luminous efficiency and uniform optical performance. The optical and thermal properties of the flexible filament were investigated at different stretching heights, namely 0, 1, 2, and 3 cm. The results indicated that the filament showed the best optical characteristics at the stretching height of 2 cm, because of good heat dissipation. In addition, the radiation temperature of the filament was inversely proportional to the output luminous flux. The reliability of the filament at a stretching height of 2 cm was also evaluated after 1000 h of use. The result demonstrated that the luminous flux decay of the bulb was only 0.85%. The flexible spiral WLED filament exhibiting high luminous flux and good reliability could be adapted to promote industrial development in the near future. | Liping Wang Jun Zou Bobo Yang Wenbo Li Yang Li Mingming Shi Wei Zhu Canyun Zhang Fengchao Wang Yujie Lin | 2018 | Journal of Semiconductors2018,39,2: | 2

Simulation of Heat Transfer with the Growth and Collapse of a Cavitation Bubble Near the Heated Wall显示文摘The growth and collapse behaviors of a single cavitation bubble near a heated wall and its effect on the heat transfer are numerically investigated. The present study is designed to reveal the mechanism of cavitation enhanced heat transfer from a microscopic perspective. In the simulation, the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations are solved in an axisymmetric two-dimensional domain. The volume of fluid (VOF) method is employed to track the liquid-gas interface. It is assumed that the gas inside the bubble is compressible vapor, and the surrounding liquid is incompressible water. Mass transfer between two phases is ignored. The calculated bubble profiles were compared to the available experimental data, and a good agreement was obtained. Then, the relationship among bubble motion, flow field and surface heat transfer coefficient was analyzed. On this basis, the effects of such factors as the initial distance between the bubble and the wall, the initial vapor pressure and the initial bubble nucleus size on the heat transfer enhancement are discussed. The present study is helpful to understand the heat transfer phenomenon in presence of cavitation bubble in liquid. | Bin Liu Jun Cai Fengchao Li Xiulan Huai | 2013 | Journal of Thermal Science2013,22,4: | 1
