| 4 | The potential application of red mud and soil mixture as additive to the surface layer of a landfill cover system显示文摘Red mud, the by-product of aluminum production, has been regarded as a problematic residue all over the world. Its storage involves risks as evidenced by the Ajka red mud spill,an accident in Hungary where the slurry broke free, flooding the surrounding areas. As an immediate remediation measure more than 5 cm thick red mud layer was removed from the flooded soil surface. The removed red mud and soil mixture(RMSM) was transferred into the reservoirs for storage. In this paper the application of RMSM is evaluated in a field study aiming at re-utilizing waste, decreasing cost of waste disposal and providing a value-added product. The purpose was to investigate the applicability of RMSM as surface layer component of landfill cover systems. The field study was carried out in two steps: in lysimeters and in field plots. The RMSM was mixed at ratios ranging between 0 and 50% w/w with low quality subsoil(LQS) originally used as surface layer of an interim landfill cover. The characteristics of the LQS + RMSM mixtures compared to the subsoil(LQS) and the RMSM were determined by physical–chemical, biological and ecotoxicological methods. The addition of RMSM to the subsoil(LQS) at up to 20% did not result any ecotoxic effect, but it increased the water holding capacity. In addition, the microbial substrate utilization became about triple of subsoil(LQS) after 10 months. | 5 | Weakened anisotropy of mechanical properties in rolled ZK60 magnesium alloy sheets with elevated deformation temperature显示文摘The rolling direction(RD) and the transverse direction(TD) samples were obtained from an as-rolled ZK60 magnesium alloy sheet with strong anisotropy of initial texture and their mechanical properties were tested at various deformation temperatures. Meanwhile, the microstructure and texture of these samples after fracture were investigated. Results revealed that a higher flow stress along the RD than that along the TD at room temperature were ascribed to the strong anisotropy of transitional texture, and this texture effect was remarkably weakened with the increase of deformation temperature. Deformation structure was dominant at 100?C, and was replaced by dynamic recrystallization structure when the deformation temperature increased to 200?C and 300?C. The texture presented a strong texture(transitional texture in the RD sample and basal texture in the TD sample) at 100?C, but its intensity visibly decreased and texture components became more disperse at 200?C and 300?C. | 6 | Microstructure and Mechanical Property of 2024 Aluminium Alloy Prepared by Rapid Solidification and Mechanical Milling显示文摘Rapidly solidified 2024 aluminium alloy powders were mechanically milled, then consolidated to bulk form. The microstructural changes of the powders in mechanical milling (MM) and consolidation process were characterized by X-ray diffraction analyses and transmission electron microscopy observations. The results showed that mechanical milling reduced the grain size to nanometer, dissolved the Al2Cu intermetallic compound into the aluminium matrix and produced an aluminium supersaturated solid solution. During consolidation process. the grain size increased to submicrometer, and the Al2Cu and Al2(Cu, Mg, Si, Fe, Mn) compounds precipitated owing to heating. Increasing consolidation temperature and time results in obvious grain growth and coarsening of second phase particles.
