1短暂性脑缺血发作的定义和评价:美国心脏协会/美国卒中协会卒中委员会、心血管外科和麻醉委员会、心血管放射学和介入委员会、心血管护理委员会和外周血管病跨学科委员会对医疗卫生专业人员发布的科学声明:美国神经病学学会确认该声明作为神经科医生继续教育工具的价值显示文摘本科学声明面向为短暂性脑缺血发作(transient ischemic attacks,TIA)患者提供医疗诊治的临床医生和相关医疗卫生人员。采用正规的证据复习方法对1990-2007年7月期间Medline数据库进行系统的文献检索,并运用证据表、汇总分析和病例资料的合并分析,对数据进行综合处理。本文支持以下基于组织学的TIA定义:局灶性脑、脊髓或视网膜缺血引起的短暂性神经功能障碍发作,且无急性脑梗死。TIA患者的近期卒中风险较高,可根据临床量表、血管影像学和磁共振弥散加权成像进行风险分层。诊断推荐包括:TIA患者应在发病24h内接受神经影像学评价,最好是应用包括弥散序列在内的MRI;应进行无创性颈部血管成像检查,最好是无创性颅内血管成像;对于未能确定血管病因的患者,TIA发病后应尽快进行心电图检查,也应考虑持续心电监测和超声心动图检查;应进行常规血液化验;对于发病72h内就诊并且ABCD^2评分≥3分(提示近期复发风险较高)或在门诊不能迅速完成诊断评价的TIA患者,应收入院治疗。J. 2中国妇女妊娠前后单纯服用叶酸对神经管畸形的预防效果显示文摘目的 评价妇女在妊娠前后服用单纯 40 0 μg叶酸增补剂对胎 /婴儿神经管畸形 (NTDs)的预防效果。方法 1993~ 1995年在中国北方的NTDs高发地区和南方的NTDs低发地区妇女增补叶酸的推广项目中 ,共募集从孕前或孕后任何时间开始服药的妇女 130 142名 ,未服药的妇女 1176 89名 ;设计的服药方法从婚检时开始到孕满 3个月为止 ,每天服用单纯叶酸片 40 0 μg ;最后对妇女的分娩结局进行监测并进行预防效果的对比评价研究。结果 服药组妇女生育的胎婴儿中共发现 10 2例NTDs ,对照组胎婴儿中共发现 173例NTDs。末次月经前募集的未服药妇女在孕 2 0周以后分娩的胎婴中NTDs发生率 ,北方为 4 8‰ (16 / 3 318) ,南方为 1 0‰ (2 8/ 2 82 6 5 ) ,而妊娠前后服药妇女组则分别为1 0‰ (13/ 13 0 12 )和 0 6‰ (34/ 5 86 38)。与末次月经前募集的未服药妇女组相比 ,北方服药妇女NTDs发生率明显降低 ,其中依从性大于 80 %的服药组妇女预防率达 85 % (95 %CI为 6 2 %~ 94% ) ,南方地区服叶酸的预防率为 41% (95 %CI为 3 %~ 6 4% )。结论 妇女在妊娠前后每天服用单纯叶酸 40 0李竹 RobertJ Berry 李松 J David Erickson 王红 Cynthia A Moore 赵平 Joseph Mulinare 洪世欣 Lee-Yang C Wong 呼和牧人 Jacqueline Gindler 郝玲 Adolfo Correa 朱慧萍 Elaine Gunter 2000中华医学杂志2000,80,7:185
3风险规避与中国棉农的农药施用行为显示文摘过量施用农药现象在中国农作物生产中普遍存在,本文使用2006~2007年240个棉衣、1429个地块的实地调查数据,结合对农民风险规避程度的实验结果,对风险规避与农民农药施用行为之间的关系进行了实证分析。研究结果表明,农民的风险规避程度对其农药施用行为具有三个方面的重要影响:①具有较高风险规避程度的农民会施用更多的农药来避免可能发生的虫害损失;②具有较高风险规避程度的农民会选择更多种类的农药来避免农业生产的不确定性,以保证农药施用能够有效控制虫害和减少损失;③具有较高风险规避程度的农民会选择购买价格较高的农药。此外,本文也发现,农民对病虫害防治知识的掌握程度对其农药施用行为也有一定影响。因此,提高农民的农业技术知识水平有助于减少农药施用量。米建伟 黄季焜 陈瑞剑 Elaine M.Liu 2012中国农村经济2012,,7:69

5Vertical Nanowire Array-Based Light Emitting Diodes显示文摘Electroluminescence from a nanowire array-based light emitting diode is reported.The junction consists of a p-type GaN thin fi lm grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD)and a vertical n-type ZnO nanowire array grown epitaxially from the thin fi lm through a simple low temperature solution method.The fabricated devices exhibit diode like currentvoltage behavior.Electroluminescence is visible to the human eye at a forward bias of 10 V and spectroscopy reveals that emission is dominated by acceptor to band transitions in the p-GaN thin fi lm.It is suggested that the vertical nanowire architecture of the device leads to waveguided emission from the thin fi lm through the nanowire array.Elaine Lai Woong Kim Peidong Yang 2008Nano Research2008,1,2:13
6The Chinese skeleton: insights into microstructure that help to explain the epidemiology of fracture显示文摘Osteoporotic fractures are a major public health problem worldwide, but incidence varies greatly across racial groups and geographic regions. Recent work suggests that the incidence of osteoporotic fracture is rising among Asian populations. Studies comparing areal bone mineral density and fracture across races generally indicate lower bone mineral density in Asian individuals including the Chinese, but this does not reflect their relatively low risk of non-vertebral fractures. In contrast, the Chinese have relatively high vertebral fracture rates similar to that of Caucasians. The paradoxically low risk for some types of fractures among the Chinese despite their low areal bone mineral density has been elucidated in part by recent advances in skeletal imaging.New techniques for assessing bone quality non-invasively demonstrate that the Chinese compensate for smaller bone size by differences in hip geometry and microstructural skeletal organization. Studies evaluating factors influencing racial differences in bone remodeling, as well as bone acquisition and loss, may further elucidate racial variation in bone microstructure. 7Hepatocellular carcinoma: Review of disease and tumor biomarkers显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is a common malignancy and now the second commonest global cause of cancer death. HCC tumorigenesis is relatively silent and patients experience late symptomatic presentation. As the option for curative treatments is limited to early stage cancers, diagnosis in non-symptomatic individuals is crucial. International guidelines advise regular surveillance of high-risk populations but the current tools lack sufficient sensitivity for early stage tumors on the background of a cirrhotic nodular liver. A number of novel biomarkers have now been suggested in the literature, which may reinforce the current surveillance methods. In addition, recent metabonomic and proteomic discoveries have established specific metabolite expressions in HCC, according to Warburg's phenomenon of altered energy metabolism. 8Traditional Chinese Medicine as a Treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis:From Empirical Practice to Evidence-Based Therapy显示文摘Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a common autoimmune condition with an elusive etiology.Conventional and biological disease-modifying drugs sometimes fail or produce only partial responses.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has long been used in China as a treatment for RA and is achieving everincreasing acceptance worldwide.TCM treatments are traditionally guided by the theory of treatment based on TCM syndrome differentiation;however,they remain a matter of empirical practice relying on TCM theories and doctors’own experience,which places severe restrictions on worldwide TCM application.Nevertheless,TCM is a treasure trove for drug discovery,particularly as a treatment for complicated human conditions.The discoveries of artemisinin as a treatment for malaria and of TCM–arsenic trioxide(As2O3)combination therapy as a treatment for acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL)are excellent examples of the great value of TCM.Regarding RA treatments,many Chinese medicinal herbs and their formulas,extracts,ingredients,and even single compounds have been used in clinical applications.Several Chinese proprietary medicines(CPMs)derived from TCM formulas or herbal bioactive components,such as the controlled-release ZhengQingFengTongNing(ZQFTN)Tablets,Tripterygium Glycoside Tablets,and Total Glucosides of Peony(TGP)Capsules,have been included in the National Health Insurance Directory of China,and show comparable therapeutic efficacies to those of western chemical drugs with fewer side effects.As TCM research has advanced,particularly in the use of multidisciplinary technologies,the scientific foundations and characteristics of the use of TCM to treat RA have been revealed,and the quality of TCM treatments have been increasingly enhanced.However,TCM generally lacks sufficient clinical and laboratory data to be consistent with international standards for quality,safety,and efficacy in order to support its application worldwide.Therefore,intensive basic and clinical studies on TCM are required.In particular,investigations that use cutting-edge technologies in analytical chemistry,biology,and biomedical sciences,and the development of randomized clinical trials(RCTs)and personalized pragmatic randomized controlled trials(PPRCTs)are necessary.Researchers should also collaborate to advance TCM from empirical practice to evidence-based therapy,thus consistently promoting TCM development and globalization in a vital,beneficial,and contributable manner.Hu-Dan Pan Yao Xiao Wan-Ying Wang Ru-Tong Ren Elaine Lai-Han Leung Liang Liu 2019Engineering2019,5,5:12

13Patients with irritable bowel syndrome-diarrhea have lower disease-specific quality of life than irritable bowel syndrome-constipation显示文摘AIM: To determine effect of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) subtype on IBS-specific quality of life(QOL) questionnaire and its subscales.METHODS: We studied IBS patients visiting our functional gastroenterology disorder clinic at a tertiary care center of Unites States.IBS and IBS subtype were diagnosed using Rome-Ⅲ questionnaire.QOL was assessed using IBS-QOL questionnaire.IBSQOL assesses quality of life along eight subscales: dysphoria,interference with activities,body image,health worry,food avoidance,social reactions,sexual health,and effect on relationships.IBS-QOL and its subscales were both scored on a range of 0-100 with higher scores suggestive of better QOL.Results of overall IBS-QOL scores and subscale scores are expressed as means with 95%CI.We compared mean IBS-QOL score and its subscales among various IBSsubtypes.Analysis of variance(ANOVA) was used to compare the mean difference between more than two groups after controlling for age and gender.A posthoc analysis using Bonferroni correction was used only when P value for ANOVA was less than 0.05.RESULTS: Of 542 patients screened,243 had IBS as per Rome-Ⅲ criteria.IBS-mixed(IBS-M) was the most common IBS subtype(121 patients,49.8%) followed by IBS- diarrhea(IBS-D)(56 patients,23.1%),IBSconstipation(IBS-C)(54 patients,22.2%) and IBSunspecified(IBS-U)(12 patients,4.9%).Overall IBSQOL scores were significantly different among various IBS-subtypes(P = 0.01).IBS-QOL of patients with IBS-D(61.6,95%CI: 54.0-69.1) and IBS-M(63.0,95%CI: 58.1-68.0) was significantly lower than patients with IBS-C(74.5,95%CI: 66.9-82.1)(P = 0.03 and 0.02 respectively).IBS-D patients scored significantly lower than IBS-C on food avoidance(45.0,95%CI: 34.8-55.2 vs 61.1,95%CI: 50.8-71.3,P = 0.04) and interference with activity(59.6,95%CI: 51.4-67.7 vs 82.3,95%CI: 74.1-90.6,P < 0.001).IBS-M patients had more interference in their activities(61.6,95%CI: 56.3-66.9 vs 82.3,95%CI: 74.1-90.6,P = 0.001) and greater impact on their relationships(73.3,95%CI: 68.4-78.2 vs 84.7,95%CI: 77.2-92.2,P = 0.02) than IBS-C patients.Patients with IBS-M also scored significantly lower than IBS-C on food avoidance(47.2,95%CI: 40.7-53.7 vs 61.1,95%CI: 50.8-71.3,P = 0.04) and social reaction(66.1,95%CI: 61.1-71.1 vs 80.0,95%CI: 72.1-87.7,P = 0.005).CONCLUSION: IBS-D and IBS-M patients have lower IBS-QOL than IBS-C patients.Clinicians should recognize food avoidance,effects on daily activities and relationship problems in these patients.Prashant Singh Kyle Staller Kenneth Barshop Elaine Dai Jennifer Newman Sonia Yoon Shahar Castel Braden Kuo 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,26:9
14Cancer stem cell plasticity and tumor hierarchy显示文摘The origins of the complex process of intratumoral heterogeneity have been highly debated and different cellular mechanisms have been hypothesized to account for the diversity within a tumor. The clonal evolution and cancer stem cell(CSC) models have been proposed as drivers of this heterogeneity. However, the concept of cancer stem cell plasticity and bidirectional conversion between stem and non-stem cells has added additional complexity to these highly studied paradigms and may help explain the tumor heterogeneity observed in solid tumors. The process of cancer stem cell plasticity in which cancer cel s harbor the dynamic ability of shifting from a non-CSC state to a CSC state and vice versa may be modulated by specific microenvironmental signals and cellular interactions arising in the tumor niche. In addition to promoting CSC plasticity, these interactions may contribute to the cellular transformation of tumor cells and affect response to chemotherapeutic and radiation treatments by providing CSCs protection from these agents. 16Curcumenol triggered ferroptosis in lung cancer cells via lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis显示文摘Curcumenol,an effective ingredient of Wenyujin,has been reported that exerted its antitumor potential in a few cancer types.However,the effect and molecular mechanism of curcumenol in lung cancer are largely unknown.Here,we found that curcumenol induced cell death and suppressed cell proliferation in lung cancer cells.Next,we demonstrated that ferroptosis was the predominant method that contributed to curcumenol-induced cell death of lung cancer in vitro and vivo for the first time.Subsequently,using RNA sequencing,we found that the long non-coding RNA H19(lncRNA H19)was significantly downregulated in lung cancer cells treated with curcumenol,when compared to untreated controls.Overexpression of lncRNA H19 eliminated the anticancer effect of curcumenol,while lncRNA H19 knockdown promoted ferroptosis induced by curcumenol treatment.Mechanistically,we showed that lncRNA H19 functioned as a competing endogenous RNA to bind to miR-19b-3p,thereby enhanced the transcription activity of its endogenous target,ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1),a marker of ferroptosis.In conclusion,our data show that the natural product curcumenol exerted its antitumor effects on lung cancer by triggering ferroptosis,and the lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis plays an essential role in curcumenol-induced ferroptotic cell death.Therefore,our findings will hopefully provide a valuable drug for treating lung cancer patients.Ruonan Zhang Ting Pan Yu Xiang Mingming Zhang Han Xie Zimao Liang Bi Chen Cong Xu Jing Wang Xingxing Huang Qianru Zhu Ziming Zhao Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Wencheng Liu Weirui Ma Jiao Feng Xueni Sun Ting Duan Elaine Lai-Han Leung Tian Xie Qibiao Wu Xinbing Sui 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,7:8
17Cellular arsenic transport pathways in mammals显示文摘Natural contamination of drinking water with arsenic results in the exposure of millions of people world-wide to unacceptable levels of this metalloid. This is a serious global health problem because arsenic is a Group 1(proven) human carcinogen and chronic exposure is known to cause skin, lung, and bladder tumors. Furthermore, arsenic exposure can result in a myriad of other adverse health effects including diseases of the cardiovascular,respiratory, neurological, reproductive, and endocrine systems. In addition to chronic environmental exposure to arsenic, arsenic trioxide is approved for the clinical treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia, and is in clinical trials for other hematological malignancies as well as solid tumors. Considerable inter-individual variability in susceptibility to arsenic-induced disease and toxicity exists, and the reasons for such differences are incompletely understood. Transport pathways that influence the cellular uptake and export of arsenic contribute to regulating its cellular, tissue, and ultimately body levels. In the current review, membrane proteins(including phosphate transporters, aquaglyceroporin channels, solute carrier proteins, and ATP-binding cassette transporters) shown experimentally to contribute to the passage of inorganic, methylated, and/or glutathionylated arsenic species across cellular membranes are discussed. 18STAT3 and sphingosine-1-phosphate in inflammation-associated colorectal cancer显示文摘Accumulated evidences have demonstrated that signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)is a critical link between inflammation and cancer.Multiple studies have indicated that persistent activation of STAT3 in epithelial/tumor cells in inflammation-associated colorectal cancer(CRC)is associated with sphingosine-1-phosphate(S1P)receptor signaling.In inflammatory response whereby interleukin(IL)-6 production is abundant,STAT3-mediated pathways were found to promote the activation of sphingosine kinases(SphK1and SphK2)leading to the production of S1P.Reciprocally,S1P encourages the activation of STAT3 through a positive autocrine-loop signaling.The crosstalk between IL-6,STAT3 and sphingolipid regulated pathways may play an essential role in tumorigenesis and tumor progression in inflamed intestines.Therapeutics targeting both STAT3 and sphingolipid are therefore likely to contribute novel and more effective therapeutic strategies against inflammation-associated CRC.Andrew V Nguyen Yuan-Yuan Wu Elaine Y Lin 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,30:7

20FIXED-POINT CONTINUATION APPLIED TO COMPRESSED SENSING:IMPLEMENTATION AND NUMERICAL EXPERIMENTS显示文摘Fixed-point continuation (FPC) is an approach,based on operator-splitting and continuation,for solving minimization problems with e_1-regularization:min||x||_1 +μf(x).We investigate the application of this algorithm to compressed sensing signal recovery,inwhich f(x) = 1/2||Ax-b||_M^2,A ∈R^(m×n) and m≤n.In particular,we extend the originalalgorithm to obtain better practical results,derive appropriate choices for M and μ under agiven measurement model,and present numerical results for a variety of compressed sensingproblems.The numerical results show that the performance of our algorithm comparesfavorably with that of several recently proposed algorithms.Elaine T.Hale 2010Journal of Computational Mathematics2010,28,2:7
