| 1 | 镰孢菌属镰刀菌致与接触镜有关的真菌性角膜炎1例(英文)显示文摘目的:报道1例罕见的被确诊为由镰孢菌属镰刀菌引起的与接触镜有关的严重的真菌性角膜炎,该病例最后通过治疗性穿透性角膜移植术成功治疗。方法:病例报告。结果:一位39岁的马来西亚女士,私企职员,配戴长戴性软性接触镜18a。感右眼剧痛、眼红10d。眼部检查见多个长有伪足的圆形旁中心角膜溃疡,前房少许积脓,临床诊断为真菌性角膜炎。经重复角膜刮片检查真菌和细菌结果均阴性后给予局部广谱抗生素和抗真菌治疗,但患者右眼角膜炎病情进一步加重,又给予其他的局部和全身抗真菌药物治疗,患者右眼角膜溃疡进一步加深。最后,为保留眼球,限制感染,在发病1.5mo后,给予患者治疗性的穿透性角膜移植术。术后,角膜组织病理学检查和PCR检查证实为镰孢菌属镰刀菌感染所致。结论:这是1例罕见的由镰孢菌属镰刀菌感染引起的严重的与接触镜有关的真菌性角膜炎。这也说明了在真菌性角膜炎的治疗上存在挑战性。为控制真菌性角膜炎进一步发展,并保护眼球,治疗性的穿透性角膜移植术应该是最后的选择。 | Shawarinin Jusoh Effat Omar Manickam Ravichandran Mohtar Ibrahim | 2008 | 国际眼科杂志2008,8,4: | 7 |
| 2 | Inactivation of TFEB and NF-kB by marchantin M alleviates the chemotherapy-driven pro-tumorigenic senescent secretion显示文摘It is critical to regulate the senescence-associated secretory phenotype(SASP) due to its effect on promoting malignant phenotypes and limiting the efficiency of cancer therapy. In this study, we demonstrated that marchantin M(Mar-M, a naturally occurring bisbibenzyl) suppressed proinflammatory SASP components which were elevated in chemotherapy-resistant cells. Mar-M treatment attenuated the pro-tumorigenic effects of SASP and enhanced survival in drug-resistant mouse models.No toxicity was detected on normal fibroblast cells or in animals following this treatment. Inactivation of transcription factor EB(TFEB) and nuclear factor-k B(NF-k B) by Mar-M significantly accounted for its suppression on the components of SASP. Furthermore, inhibition of SASP by Mar-M contributed to a synergistic effect during co-treatment with doxorubicin to lower toxicity and enhance antitumor efficacy. Thus, chemotherapy-driven pro-inflammatory activity, seen to contribute to drug-resistance, is an important target for Mar-M. | 3 | Clinical outcomes of combined flow-pressure drop measurements using newly developed diagnostic endpoint:Pressure drop coefficient in patients with coronary artery dysfunction显示文摘AIM:To combine pressure and flow parameter, pressure drop coefficient(CDP) will result in better clinical outcomes in comparison to the fractional flow reserve(FFR) group. METHODS:To test this hypothesis, a comparison was made between the FFR < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups in this study, for the major adverse cardiac events [major adverse cardiac events(MACE): Primary outcome] and patients’ quality of life(secondary outcome). Further, a comparison was also made between the survival curves for the FFR < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups. Two-tailed χ~2 test proportions were performed for the comparison of primary and secondary outcomes. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed to compare the survival curves of FFR < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups(MedcalcV10.2, Mariakerke, Belgium). Results were considered statistically significant for P < 0.05. RESULTS: The primary outcomes(%MACE) in the FFR < 0.75 group(20%, 4 out of 20) was not statistically different(P = 0.24) from the %MACE occurring in CDP > 27.9 group(8.57%, 2 out of 35). Noteworthy is the reduction in the %MACE in the CDP > 27.9 group, in comparison to the FFR < 0.75 group. Further, the secondary outcomes were not statistically significant between the FFR < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups. Survival analysis results suggest that the survival time for the CDP > 27.9 group(n = 35) is significantly higher(P = 0.048) in comparison to the survival time for the FFR < 0.75 group(n = 20). The results remained similar for a FFR = 0.80 cut-off. | 4 | Delineation of epicardial stenosis in patients with microvascular disease using pressure drop coefficient:A pilot outcome study显示文摘AIM To investigate the patient-outcomes of newly developed pressure drop coefficient(CDP) in diagnosing epicardial stenosis(ES) in the presence of concomitant microvascular disease(MVD).METHODS Patients from our clinical trial were divided into two subgroups with:(1) cut-off of coronary flow reserve(CFR) < 2.0;and(2) diabetes.First,correlations were performed for both subgroups between CDP and hyperemic microvascular resistance(HMR),a diagnostic parameter for assessing the severity of MVD.Linear regression analysis was used for these correlations.Further,in each of the subgroups,comparisons were made between fractional flow reserve(FFR) < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups for assessing major adverse cardiac events(MACE:Primary outcome).Comparisons were also made between the survival curves for FFR < 0.75 and CDP > 27.9 groups.Two tailed chi-squared and Fischer's exact tests were performed for comparison of the primary outcomes,and the log-rank test was used to compare the Kaplan-Meier survival curves.P < 0.05 for all tests was considered statistically significant.RESULTS Significant linear correlations were observed between CDP and HMR for both CFR < 2.0(r = 0.58,P < 0.001) and diabetic(r = 0.61,P < 0.001) patients.In the CFR < 2.0 subgroup,the %MACE(primary outcomes) for CDP > 27.9 group(7.7%,2/26) was lower than FFR < 0.75 group(3/14,21.4%);P = 0.21.Similarly,in the diabetic subgroup,the %MACE for CDP > 27.9 group(12.5%,2/16) was lower than FFR < 0.75 group(18.2%,2/11);P = 0.69.Survival analysis for CFR < 2.0 subgroup indicated better event-free survival for CDP > 27.9 group(n = 26) when compared with FFR < 0.75 group(n = 14);P = 0.10.Similarly,for the diabetic subgroup,CDP > 27.9 group(n = 16) showed higher survival times compared to FFR group(n = 11);P = 0.58.CONCLUSION CDP correlated significantly with HMR and resulted in better %MACE as well as survival rates in comparison to FFR.These positive trends demonstrate that CDP could be a potential diagnostic endpoint for delineating MVD with or without ES. | Ullhas Udaya Hebbar Mohamed A Effat Srikara V Peelukhana Imran Arif Rupak K Banerjee | 2017 | World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,12: | 2 |
| 5 | A validated HPLC method for the determination of donepezil in human plasma after derivatization with 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate显示文摘A new HPLC method has been developed for determining donepezil in human plasma. To find the optimum conditions, a derivatization reaction was performed in different media, and the reaction product was identified by NMR and GC-MS after a semi-preparative HPLC separation. Under optimized conditions, donepezil was derivatized by 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate in chloroform and carbonate buffer at pH 9.5 in the presence of NaI after solid-phase extraction from a plasma sample. The reaction product was quantified on a reversed-phase TRACER EXCEL ODS-A, 5 μm column using a mixture of acetonitrile–10 mM acetate buffer(pH 6.0)–THF(60:35:5, v/v/v) as the mobile phase with fluorescence detection at 264 nm(ex) and 313 nm(em). Fluoxetine was used as the internal standard. The total run-time of the analysis was about 10 min, and a clean chromatogram was obtained. The developed method was linear over the range of 1–100 ng/mL in 500 μL of plasma samples(r2>0.998). The intra-day and inter-day precision values were in the range of 2.6%–11.6%. | 7 | Anti-leishmanial,immunomodulatory and anti-oxidative activity of quercetin against cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania major显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the in vitro and in vivo efficacy of quercetin and its immunomodulatory and anti-oxidative activity against Leishmania major(L.major).Methods:L.major promastigotes and amastigotes were incubated with different concentrations of quercetin to estimate EC_(50).For in vivo study,the base of tails of mice was infected with L.major.After developing ulcers in the inoculation site,mice were treated with 50 mg/kg quercetin orally for 28 consecutive days.The wound-healing potential of quercetin was evaluated by histopathological analysis of tissue sections stained by hematoxylin and eosin as well as Masson's trichrome.In addition,the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-6,malondialdehyde,and adiponectin,the ferric reducing ability of plasma,as well as superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities were measured.Results:The EC_(50)values of quercetin against L.major promastigotes and intracellular amastigotes were 0.27 and 0.85μM,respectively.Histopathological analysis showed that fewer inflammatory cells,more fibroblasts,and more collagen deposition were observed in tissue sections of quercetin-treated mice.In addition,treatment with quercetin markedly increased glutathione peroxidase activity,the ferric reducing ability of plasma and adiponectin levels while decreasing malondialdehyde,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor-αlevels.Conclusions:Quercetin shows anti-leishmanial activity,immunomodulatory,anti-oxidative,and anti-inflammatory effects.Therefore,it may be further explored as an effective drug in treating leishmaniasis. | Ahmad Oryan Effat Bemani Somayeh Bahrami | 2023 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2023,13,1: | 1 |

| 11 | 褪黑素对大鼠妊娠结局的影响(英文)显示文摘褪黑素能调节多项生理功能,但其对妊娠结局的影响所知甚少。本研究旨在探讨补充褪黑素对12~1aN龄的Wistar-Kyoto(WKY)和Sprague-Dawley(SD)大鼠妊娠结局的影响。动情前期确认后,每只雌性大鼠与一只同品种雄性大鼠同笼饲养过夜,第二天阴道涂片确认交配后,雌性大鼠转移至单独的代谢笼,WKY大鼠每天给予含0、25、50或100mg/kg褪黑素的饮水,SD大鼠则每天给予含0或100mg/kg褪黑素的饮水,从怀孕第一天持续至产后21天。记录母鼠体重、孕期、窝产仔数、仔鼠出生体重和出生后7~42d体重及仔鼠死亡率,使用重复测量的方差分析对数据进行分析。结果显示,与对照组相比,褪黑素组母鼠孕期体重增长较小(P〈0.01),窝产仔数减少(尸〈0.01),仔鼠平均出生体重仅在100mg/kg褪黑素组显著降低(P〈0.001),出生后7~42d仔鼠平均体重显著降低(P〈0.01)。25和100mg/kg褪黑素组WKY仔鼠死亡率分别为9.5%和21.6%,且都发生在断奶21天后。以上结果提示,产前和产后补充褪黑素会严重影响WKY和SD大鼠窝产仔数、仔鼠生长和死亡率。 | Harbindar Jeet Singh Hisham Ibrahim Saleh Sergey Gupalo Effat Omar | 2013 | 生理学报2013,65,2: | 1 |

| 14 | Effect of incorporating Elaeagnus angustifolia extract in PCL-PEG-PCL nanofibers for bone tissue engineering显示文摘Plants have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years but they are still finding new uses in modem times. For example, Elaeagnus angustifolia (EA) is a medicinal herb with antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties and it is widely used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. EA extract was loaded onto poly(ε-caprolactone)- poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCLPEG-PCL/EA) nanofibers and their potential applications for bone tissue engineering were studied. The morphology and chemical properties of the fibers were evaluated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, contact angle measurements and mechanical tests. All the samples had bead-free morphologies with average diameters ranging from 100 to 200 nm. The response of human cells to the PCL-PEGPCL/ EA nanofibers was evaluated using human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs). The hDPSCs had better adhesion and proliferation capacity on the EA loaded nanofibers than on the pristine PCL-PEG?PCL nanofibers. An alizarin red S assay and the alkaline phosphatase activity confirmed that the nanofibrous scaffolds induced osteoblastic performance in the hDPSCs. The quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction results confirmed that the EA loaded nanofibrous scaffolds had significantly upregulated gene expression correlating to osteogenic differentiation.
