| 1 | Management of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease:An evidence-based clinical practice review显示文摘AIM:To build a consensus among Chilean specialists on the appropriate management of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in clinical practice.METHODS:NAFLD has now reached epidemic proportions worldwide.The optimal treatment for NAFLD has not been established due to a lack of evidence-based recommendations.An expert panel of members of the Chilean Gastroenterological Society and the Chilean Hepatology Association conducted a structured analysis of the current literature on NAFLD therapy.The quality of the evidence and the level of recommendations supporting each statement were assessed according to the recommendations of the United States Preventive Services Task Force.A modified three-round Delphi technique was used to reach a consensus among the experts.RESULTS:A group of thirteen experts was established.The survey included 17 open-ended questions that were distributed among the experts,who assessed the articles associated with each question.The levels of agreement achieved by the panel were 93.8%in the first round and 100%in the second and third rounds.The final recommendations support the indication of lifestyle changes,including diet and exercise,for all patients with NAFLD.Proven pharmacological therapies include only vitamin E and pioglitazone,which can be used in nondiabetic patients with biopsy-proven nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(the progressive form of NAFLD),although the long-term safety and efficacy of these therapies have not yet been established.CONCLUSION:Current NAFLD management is rapidly evolving,and new pathophysiology-based therapies are expected to be introduced in the near future.All NAFLD patients should be evaluated using a three-focused approach that considers the risks of liver disease,diabetes and cardiovascular events. | Juan P Arab Roberto Candia Rodrigo Zapata Cristián Mu?oz Juan P Arancibia Jaime Poniachik Alejandro Soza Francisco Fuster Javier Brahm Edgar Sanhueza Jorge Contreras M Carolina Cuellar Marco Arrese Arnoldo Riquelme | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,34: | 11 |
| 2 | Effect of Nd3+doping on structure,microstructure,lattice distortion and electronic properties of TiO_2 nanoparticles显示文摘Doped and undoped TiCh nanoparticles were prepared by Stober method and thermally treated at 600 ℃.The effect of Nd^(3+) ion on the structure and micro structure of anatase-phase TiCh nanocrystals was studied by Rietveld refinement method using X-ray powder diffraction data.Bond lengths,bond angles,and edges distances were analyzed.The phase formation was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.The adjustment of Ti-0 bond length induced by the addition of Nd^(3+) ions,reduced the octahedral distortion and altered the octahedral array in the anatase-phase TiCh nanocrystal.The changes of structure and microstructure were mainly observed for TiCh nanoparticles doped with 0.1 at.%of Nd^(3+) ions and attributed to the cationic substitution of Ti^(4+) ions which promoted changes in the density of states and gap band of TiCh.The dopant insertion resulted in a better structural stability of the nanocrystals that enhanced their charge transference and photocatalytic efficiency. | Balter Trujillo-Navarrete María del Pilar Haro-Vázquez Rosa María Félix-Navarro Francisco Paraguay-Delgado Henry Alvarez-Huerta Sergio Pérez-Sicairos Edgar Alonso Reynoso-Soto | 2017 | Journal of Rare Earths2017,35,3: | 2 |
| 3 | Current trends of liver cirrhosis in Mexico: Similitudes and differences with other world regions显示文摘AIM To investigate the main current etiologies of cirrhosis in Mexico.METHODS We performed a cross-sectional retrospective multicenter study that included eight hospitals in different areas of Mexico. These hospitals provide health care to people of diverse social classes. The inclusion criteria were a histological, clinical, biochemical, endoscopic, or imaging diagnosis of liver cirrhosis. Data were obtained during a 5-year period(January 2012-December 2017). RESULTS A total of 1210 patients were included. The mean age was 62.5 years(SD = 12.1), and the percentages of men and women were similar(52.0% vs 48.0%). The most frequent causes of liver cirrhosis were hepatitis C virus(HCV)(36.2%), alcoholic liver disease(ALD)(31.2%), and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(23.2%), and the least frequent were hepatitis B virus(1.1%), autoimmune disorders(7.3%), and other conditions(1.0%).CONCLUSION HCV and ALD are the most frequent causes of cirrhosis in Mexico. However, we note that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) as an etiology of cirrhosis increased by 100% compared with the rate noted previously.
