1Mechanization technology:The key to sugarcane production in China显示文摘Sugarcane is an important cash crop in southern China now planted on about 1.5 million ha in the main production areas in Guangxi,Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan,Guangdong,and Hainan Provinces.Since the cost of labor in China is increasing rapidly and the price of local sugar is uncompetitive with the product from mechanized international producers,China needs to change its sugarcane production methods from manual work to mechanization in order to catch up with international trends in this global industry.Although a lot of effort in China have gone into sugarcane mechanization since the 1960s,the overall level of mechanization in sugarcane production is still only approximately 30%,which is about 20%lower than that achieved in the other main field crops.Almost all of the sugarcane grown in China is still harvested by hand.In order to summarize past experience and promote the mechanization of sugarcane production in China,this paper reviews the whole process of developing mechanization since 1960s and describes the current state of sugarcane mechanization in China.The research currently being undertaken and the main obstacles to be overcome in developing a mechanized sugarcane production system,are described.The design and testing of sugarcane harvesting machinery and its key components has been a significant research area by some Chinese universities,research institutes,and manufacturing companies in these past decades.This paper reviews that research and outlines the main achievements which have been made in this area.Mechanized harvesting systems for sugarcane,and the appropriate harvesting patterns suitable for different growing conditions applying in China,have also been studied.The paper concludes with some comments on the future directions for progress in China’s mechanization of sugarcane production and some policy suggestions to facilitate the industry's transition.Ou Yinggang Malcolm Wegener Yang Dantong Liu Qingting Zheng Dingke Wang Meimei Liu Haochun 2013International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2013,6,1:13

11DOA Estimation Based on Root Sparse Bayesian Learning Under Gain and Phase Error显示文摘The direction of arrival(DOA)is approximated by first-order Taylor expansion in most of the existing methods,which will lead to limited estimation accuracy when using coarse mesh owing to the off-grid error.In this paper,a new root sparse Bayesian learning based DOA estimation method robust to gain-phase error is proposed,which dynamically adjusts the grid angle under coarse grid spacing to compensate the off-grid error and applies the expectation maximization(EM)method to solve the respective iterative formula-based on the prior distribution of each parameter.Simulation results verify that the proposed method reduces the computational complexity through coarse grid sampling while maintaining a reasonable accuracy under gain and phase errors,as compared to the existing methods.Dingke Yu Xin Wang Wenwei Fang Zixian Ma Bing Lan Chunyi Song Zhiwei Xu 2022Journal of Communications and Information Networks2022,7,2:0
12A Lightweight Deep Learning-Based Algorithm for Array Imperfection Correction and DOA Estimation显示文摘Array imperfections will lead to serious performance degradation of the deep neural network(DNN)based direction of arrival(DOA)estimation in the low earth orbit(LEO)satellite communication by producing a mismatch between inference data and training data.In this paper,we propose a lightweight deep learning-based algorithm for array imperfection correction and DOA estimation.By preprocessing the covariance matrix of the array antenna outputs to the image,the array imperfection correction and DOA estimation problems are correspondingly converted into the image-to-image transformation task and image recognition task.Furthermore,for the deployment of real-time DNN-based DOA estimation on the resource-constrained edge system,generative adversarial network(GAN)model compression is applied to obtain a lightweight student generator of Pix2Pix for array imperfection correction.The Mobilenet-V2 is then used to extract the DOA information from the covariance matrix image.Simulations results demonstrate that the DOA estimation performance is significantly improved through the array imperfection correction.The proposed algorithm also better satisfies the real-time demand with decreased inference time on the resource-constrained edge system.Wenwei Fang Zhihui Cao Dingke Yu Xin Wang Zixian Ma Bing Lan Chunyi Song Zhiwei Xu 2022Journal of Communications and Information Networks2022,7,3:0
13Research on Energy-Saving Performance of Intermittent Heating for Rooms in Hot Summer&ColdWinter Zone显示文摘In the hot summer&cold winter zone in China,intermittent heating space for rooms is widely used.However,in comparison with continuous space heating,the energy-saving performance of intermittent space heating has not been sufficiently investigated.This paper studied the factors influencing the energy performance of intermittent heating for the representativeoffice inhot summer&coldwinter zone.Basedon theheatbalancemethod,adynamic thermalmodel of the intermittent heating roomwas built and tested by experiments.And then,it analyzed the total space heating load,the amount of energy saving and energy saving ratio of the intermittent heating under different preheating hours,occupation hours,required roomtemperatures,air change rates,overall heat transfer coefficients(U-value)of windows and wall materials.If the adjacent rooms were not heated,for a typical room occupied about 10 h a day,the energy-saving ratio of intermittent heating was about 30%compared with continuous heating.But the preheating power was higher than two times of continuous heating.The results also indicated that the occupation hours had a significant effect on energy saving amount and ratio,it should be noted that the energy saving ratio by intermittent heating was much lower than the unoccupied period ratio.Relative to other factors,the heating temperatures,room air change rates and U-value of windows,and room envelope materials had little effect on energy efficiency.If the adjacent rooms were heated in the same manner as the roomin question,the energy-saving ratio of the total load of intermittent heating was heavily reduced to 8.46%.Guoqing Yu Nan Fang Dingke Hu Wei Zhao 2023Energy Engineering2023,120,7:0
14Some physical properties of Australian Nonpareil almonds related to bulk storage显示文摘The Australian almond industry desires to improve storage of harvested almonds awaiting processing.The present work quantified some storage-related physical properties of almonds.The sample used in the study was Nonpareil almonds with a kernel moisture content of 4.5% d.b.The mass composition of the sample was 55% hull,32% kernel and 13% shell.Tests showed that the bulk stored in-shell almonds had only 41% of the volume of in-hull almonds and 45% of the mass.Thus removing hulls before storage would result in saving both storage and subsequent transportation costs.Tests simulating various storage heights of almonds showed that a 10 m storage height of almonds increased the bulk density of in-hull almonds from 320 to 355 kg/m^(3),of in-shell almonds(hull removed)from 356 to 378 kg/m3,and kernels(hull and shell removed)from 604 to 649 kg/m^(3).A 10 m storage height of almonds reduced the porosity of in-hull almonds from 67% to 64%,of in-shell almonds from 58% to 55%,and of the kernel from 48% to 44%.Observation showed that the change in bulk density and porosity occurred in an exponential manner with fitted curves that provided R2 between 0.97 and 0.99.Zheng Dingke John Fielke 2014International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,5:0
