1Development of forced degradation and stability indicating studies of drugs——A review显示文摘Forced degradation is a degradation of new drug substance and drug product at conditions more severe than accelerated conditions. It is required to demonstrate specificity of stability indicating methods and also provides an insight into degradation pathways and degradation products of the drug substance and helps in elucidation of the structure of the degradation products. Forced degradation studies show the chemical behavior of the molecule which in turn helps in the development of formulation and package. In addition, the regulatory guidance is very general and does not explain about the performance of forced degradation studies. 5Comparison of cross sectional optical coherence tomography images of elevated optic nerve heads across acquisition devices and scan protocols显示文摘Background:Optic nerve head measurements extracted from optical coherence tomography(OCT)show promise for monitoring clinical conditions with elevated optic nerve heads.The aim of this study is to compare reliability within and between raters and between image acquisition devices of optic nerve measurements derived from OCT scans in eyes with varying degrees of optic nerve elevation.Methods:Wide angle line scans and narrow angle radial scans through optic nerve heads were obtained using three spectral domain(SD)OCT devices on 5 subjects(6 swollen optic nerves,4 normal optic nerves).Three raters independently semi-manually segmented the internal limiting membrane(ILM)and Bruch’s membrane(BM)on each scan using customized software.One rater segmented each scan twice.Segmentations were qualitatively and quantitatively compared.Inter-rater,intra-rater and inter-device reliability was assessed for the optic nerve cross sectional area calculated from the ILM and BM segmentations using intraclass correlation coefficients and graphical comparison.Results:Line scans from all devices were qualitatively similar.Radial scans for which frame rate could not be adjusted were of lower quality.Intra-rater reliability for segmentation and optic nerve cross sectional area was better than inter-rater reliability,which was better than inter-device reliability,though all ICC exceeded 0.95.Reliability was not impacted by the degree of optic nerve elevation.Conclusions:SD-OCT devices acquired similar quality scans of the optic nerve head,with choice of scan protocol affecting the quality.For image derived markers,variability between devices was greater than that attributable to inter and intra-rater differences.Megh D.Patel Fareshta Khushzad Heather E.Moss 2018Eye and Vision2018,5,1:1
6Influence of breakup on elastic and α-production channels in the ^6Li+^116Sn reaction显示文摘The effects of breakup reactions on elastic and α-production channels for the ~6Li+^(116)Sn system have been investigated at energies below and near the Coulomb barrier. The angular distributions of α-particle production differential cross sections have been obtained at several projectile energies between 22 and 40 MeV. The measured breakup α-particle differential cross sections and elastic scattering angular distributions have been compared with the predictions of continuum-discretized coupled channels(CDCC) calculations. The influence of breakup coupling has also been investigated by extracting dynamic polarization potentials(DPP) from the CDCC calculations. From the predictions of CDCC calculations the relative importance of the nuclear, Coulomb, and total breakup contributions have also been investigated. The nuclear breakup couplings are observed to play an important role in comparison to the Coulomb breakup for the direct breakup mechanisms associated in the reaction of ~6Li projectile with ^(116)Sn target nuclei. The influence of strong nuclear breakup coupling exhibits suppression in the Coulomb-nuclear interference peak. The direct breakup cross sections from the CDCC calculations under-predict the measured α-particle differential cross sections at all energies. 7Experimental study of the 9Li breakup reaction on Pb target显示文摘The breakup reaction of ~9Li on a Pb target has been measured at 32.7 MeV/nucleon for the first time. Two peaks of ~6He+t coincident fragments at 9.8 and 12.5 MeV were observed and agreed with the results of the generator coordinate method calculation. 8Synthesis and biological study of novel 5-{(4-(6,7-dihydrothieno-[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-ylsulfonyl)phenylamino)-methyl)-quinolin-8-ol and its metal complexes显示文摘A novel 5-((4-(6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-ylsulfonyl)phenylamino)methyl)quinolin-8-ol(HTPSMQol) was synthesized by optimized reaction of 4-(6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-ylsulfonyl)aniline with 5-chloromethyl-8-hydroxy-quinoline hydrochloride(CMHQ).Also complexes of HTPSMQol were prepared by using various M(Ⅱ) metal salts.All compounds were analyzed by spectroscopic techniques and screened against various strains of microorganisms.The results showed higher antimicrobial activity of HTPSMQol compared to its metal complexes and comparable with Ciprofloxacin.Paresh N.Patel Khyati D.Patel Hasmukh S.Patel 2011Chinese Chemical Letters2011,22,11:0
9Risk factors for long COVID in children and adolescents:a systematic reviewandmeta-analysis显示文摘Background The long-term sequelae of COVID-19 in children and adolescents remain poorly understood and characterized.This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to summarize the risk factors for long COVID in the pediatric population.Methods We searched six databases from January 2020 to May 2023 for observational studies reporting on risk factors for long COVID or persistent symptoms those were present 12 or more weeks post-infection using multivariable regression analyses.Trial registries,reference lists of included studies,and preprint servers were hand-searched for relevant studies.Random-effects meta-analyses were conducted to pool odds ratios for each risk factor.Individual study risk of bias was rated using QUIPS,and the GRADE framework was used to assess the certainty of evidence for each unique factor.Results Sixteen observational studies(N=46,262)were included,and 19 risk factors were amenable to meta-analysis.With moderate certainty in the evidence,age(per 2-year increase),allergic rhinitis,obesity,previous respiratory diseases,hospitalization,severe acute COVID-19,and symptomatic acute COVID-19 are probably associated with an increased risk of long COVID.Female sex,asthma,comorbidity,and heart diseases may be associated with an increased risk of long COVID,and Asian and Black races may be associated with a decreased risk of long COVID.We did not observe any credible subgroup effects for any risk factor.Conclusions The current body of literature presents several compelling risk factors for the development of long COVID in the pediatric population.Further research is necessary to elucidate the pathophysiology of long COVID.Daniel G.Rayner Elaine Wang Cloris Su Om D.Patel Stephanie Aleluya Alessandra Giglia Evelyn Zhu Maha Siddique 2024World Journal of Pediatrics2024,20,2:0

12坦桑尼亚北部地区传统药物使用概况显示文摘目的:传统药物是非洲撒哈拉以南地区医疗保健的重要组成部分,而建立基于传统医学实践的有效治疗方案则需要了解其目前使用情况和药物疗效,包括从生物医学角度。因此,通过在坦桑尼亚北部进行的混合方法研究,以表征一般人群使用传统药物的具体情况和原因,以便更好地了解该地区的公共卫生工作。方法:在坦桑尼亚乞力马扎罗山脉地区,进行5次小组集中讨论及27次深入访谈,采用归纳框架方法分析数据。采用结构化调查,随机抽取该社区的655名成年人,旨在测试传统医学的不同应用。结果:68%的调查参与者反映了解常使用的传统药物,56%的参与者反映自身已在前一年中使用。传统药物最常用于症状性疾病(42%),其次为慢性疾病(15%)、生殖问题(11%)和疟疾/发热疾病(11%)。同时,确定了影响坦桑尼亚北部传统医药使用的五个主要因素为:生物医学保健服务,传统习俗信念,强烈的文化认同,个人健康状况及疾病认识。结论:为更好地有效制定基于传统医学实践的疾病管理计划,明确了传统医学使用的影响因素。另外,还发现坦桑尼亚北部传统药物使用频次较高,其用途不仅限于低收入地区或农村地区。在症状性疾病方面,慢性病是导致传统医学使用最常见的原因,尤其是在非传染性疾病发病率快速增长的坦桑尼亚北部地区。John W.Stanifer Uptal D.Patel Francis Karia Nathan Thielman Venance Maro Dionis Shimbi Humphrey Kilaweh Matayo Lazaro Oliver Matemu Justin Omolo David Boyd 2017亚太传统医药2017,13,15:0
13Biomass-derived carbon doping to enhance the current carrying capacity and flux pinning of an isotopic Mg^(11)B_(2)superconductor显示文摘Low activation isotopic boron(11B)based magnesium diboride(Mg^(11)B_(2))superconductors doped with biomass-derived activated carbon were synthesized using11B and magnesium powder via solid-state reaction.The effect of carbon doping on the lattice structure and superconducting properties of Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were evaluated using X-ray powder diffraction,high resolution transmission electron microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and magnetization measurements.Precise refinement of structural parameters indicates successful substitution of carbon in Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks.The critical current density(Jc)of carbon doped Mg^(11)B_(2)synthesized at 650℃was enhanced more than two times compared with the pure Mg^(11)B_(2)bulk.Similar improvement was observed for the Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks heat-treated at 800℃.This enhancement is due to successful substitution of biomass-derived carbon with high surface area into Mg^(11)B_(2)lattice.The flux pinning mechanism of pure and doped Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were investigated using the Dew-Hughes model.This study provides information regarding enhancement of the Jc of low activation Mg^(11)B_(2)superconductors suitable for next-generation fusion magnets.M.Shahbazi Y.Hao D.Patel H.Liang Y.Yamauchi M.S.A.Hossain 2022Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,7:0
