| 1 | Acute pancreatitis:Etiology and common pathogenesis显示文摘Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease of the pancreas.The etiology and pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis have been intensively investigated for centuries worldwide.Many causes of acute pancreatitis have been discovered,but the pathogenetic theories are controversial.The most common cause of acute pancreatitis is gallstone impacting the distal common bile-pancreatic duct.The majority ofinvestigators accept that the main factors for acute billiary pancreatitis are pancreatic hyperstimulation and bile-pancreatic duct obstruction which increase pancreatic duct pressure and active trypsin reflux.Acute pancreatitis occurs when intracellular protective mechanisms to prevent trypsinogen activation or reduce trypsin activity are overwhelmed.However,little is known about the other acute pancreatitis.We hypothesize that acute biliary pancreatitis and other causes of acute pancreatitis possess a common pathogenesis.Pancreatic hyperstimulation and pancreatic duct obstruction increase pancreatic duct pressure,active trypsin reflux,and subsequent unregulated activation of trypsin within pancreatic acinar cells.Enzyme activation within the pancreas leads to auto-digestion of the gland and local inflammation.Once the hypothesis is confirmed,traditional therapeutic strategies against acute pancreatitis may be improved.Decompression of pancreatic duct pressure should be advocated in the treatment of acute pancreatitits which may greatly improve its outcome. | Guo-Jun Wang Chun-Fang Gao Dong Wei Cun Wang Si-Qin Ding | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,12: | 62 |
| 2 | Moxibustion treatment modulates the gut microbiota and immune function in a dextran sulphate sodium-induced colitis rat model显示文摘AIM To investigate the effect and mechanism of moxibustion in rats with ulcerative colitis.METHODS A rat colitis model was established by administering 4% dextran sulphate sodium solution. Seventy male rats were randomly divided into seven groups: Healthy controls(HC), ulcerative colitis model group(UC), UC with 7 d of moxibustion(UC-7), UC with 14 d of moxibustion(UC-14), UC with mesalazine gavage(UC-W), HC with 7 d of moxibustion(HC-7), HC with 14 d of moxibustion(HC-14). Moxibustion was applied to the bilateral Tianshu(ST25). Gut microbiome profiling was conducted by 16 S r RNA amplicon sequencing, and PCR and ELISA determined the expression of inflammatory cytokines in colon mucosa and serum, respectively. RESULTS Moxibustion treatment restored the colonic mucosa and decreased submucosal inflammatory cell infiltration in colitis rats. Rats treated with moxibustion and mesalazine had significantly lower levels of the dominant phyla Proteobacteria and the genera Saccharibacteria, Sphingomonas and Barnesiella than colitis rats, and they could restore the microbiome to levels similar to those observed in healthy rats. UC rats had reduced alpha diversity, which could be alleviated by moxibustion therapy, and UC-7 had a higher alpha diversity than UC-14. This finding suggests that short-term(7 d) but no longer term(14 d) moxibustion treatment may significantly affect the gut microbiome. The potential bacterial functions affected by moxibustion may be ascorbate and aldarate metabolism, and amino acid metabolism. Compared with HC group, the levels of the cytokines interleukin-12(IL-12)(P < 0.05) and IL-6, IL-17, IL-23, interferon-γ, lipopolysaccharide, Ig A, tumour necrosis factor-α and its receptors 1(TNFR1) and TNFR2(P < 0.01) were all increased, whereas anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-2 and IL-10(P < 0.01) and transforming growth factor-β(P < 0.05) were decreased in UC rats. | 3 | Polymorphisms in PPARD,PPARG and APM1 associated with four types of Traditional Chinese Medicine constitutions显示文摘Based on the theory of constitution of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the human population is divided into nine constitutions including one balanced constitution (Normality) and eight unbalanced constitutions (Yang-deficiency, Yin-deficiency, Phlegm-wetness, Qi-deficiency, Wetness-heat, Blood stasis, Depressed constitution, and Inherited special constitution). Different constitutions have specific metabolic features and different susceptibility to certain diseases. However, whether a genetic basis accounts for such constitution classifica-tion is yet to be determined. Here we performed a genetic study to assess the association between genetic variations of metabolic genes in-cluding PPARD, PPARG and APM1 and the constitutions. A total of 233 individuals of the Han population in China were classified into four groups, Normality, Yang-deficiency, Yin-deficiency and Phlegm-wetness with whom 23 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the three genes were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Biased distri-bution of PPARD rs2267669 and rs2076167, APM1 rs7627128 and rs1063539 in Yang-deficiency, PPARG Pro12Ala in Yin-deficiency and PPARD rs2076167, APM1 rs266729 and rs7627128 in Phlegm-wetness were observed. The frequencies of Haplotype13 (Hap13) of PPARG in Yin-deficiency, Hap25 of APM1 in Yang-deficiency and Hap2 of PPARD and Hap14 of PPARG in Phlegm-wetness, were significantly different from those in Normality, suggesting those might be group-associated haplotypes. | 4 | A scientometric review of biochar research in the past 20 years(1998-2018)显示文摘Biochar is the carbon-rich product obtained from the thermochemical conversion of biomass under oxygen-limited conditions.Biochar has attained extensive attention due to its agronomical and environmental benefits in agro-ecosystems.This work adopts the scientometric analysis method to assess the development trends of biochar research based on the literature data retrieved from the Web of Science over the period of 1998-2018.By analysing the basic characteristics of 6934 publications,we found that the number of publications grew rapidly since 2010.Based on a keyword analysis,it is concluded that scholars have had a fundamental recognition of biochar and preliminarily found that biochar application had agronomic and environmental benefits during the period of 1998-2010.The clustering results of keywords in documents published during 2011-2015 showed that the main research hotspots were“biochar production”,“biochar and global climate change”,“soil quality and plant growth”,“organic pollutants removal”,and“heavy metals immobilization”.While in 2016-2018,beside these five main research hotspots,“biochar and composting”topic had also received greater attention,indicating that biochar utilization in organic solid waste composting is the current research hotspot.Moreover,updated reactors(e.g.,microwave reactor,fixed-bed reactor,screw-feeding reactor,bubbling fluidized bed reactor,etc.)or technologies(e.g.,solar pyrolysis,Thermo-Catalytic Reforming process,liquefaction technology,etc.)applied for efficient energy production and modified biochar for environmental remediation have been extensively studied recently.The findings may help the new researchers to seize the research frontier in the biochar field. | Ping Wu Syed Tahir Ata-Ul-Karim Bhupinder Pal Singh Hailong Wang Tongliang Wu Cun Liu Guodong Fang Dongmei Zhou Yujun Wang Wenfu Chen | 2019 | Biochar2019,1,1: | 36 |

| 6 | Overlying strata movement rules and safety mining technology for the shallow depth seam proximity beneath a room mining goaf显示文摘Aiming at the shallow depth seam proximity beneath a room mining goaf, due to that the shallow depth seam is exploited using the longwall mining and overlain by thin bedrock and thick loose sands, many accidents are likely to occur, including roof structure instability, roof step subsidence, damages of shield supports, and the face bumps triggered by the large area roof weighting, resulting in serious threats to the safety of underground miners and equipment. This paper analyses the overlying strata movement rules for the shallow seams using the physical simulation, the 3DEC numerical simulation and the field measurements. The results show that, in shallow seam mining, the overburden movement forms caved zone and fractured zone, the cracks develop continuously and reach the surface with the face advancing, and the development of surface cracks generally goes through four stages. | 7 | High-dose vs low-dose proton pump inhibitors for upper gastrointestinal bleeding:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of high-dose proton pump inhibitors(PPIs)vs low-dose PPIs for patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding.METHODS:PubMed,Embase,the Cochrane Library,and Web of Science were searched to identify relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs).Eligible trials were RCTs that compared high-dose PPI with low-dose PPI following endoscopic hemostasis.The primary endpoint was rebleeding;secondary endpoints were patient numbers that needed surgery,and mortality.The meta-analysis was performed with a fixed effects model or random effects model.RESULTS:Nine eligible RCTs including 1342 patients were retrieved.The results showed that high-dose intravenous PPI was not superior to low-dose intra-venous PPI in reducing rebleeding[odds ratio(OR)= 1.091,95%confidential interval(CI):0.777-1.532],need for surgery(OR=1.522,95%CI:0.643-3.605) and mortality(OR=1.022,95%CI:0.476-2.196).Subgroup analysis according to different region revealed no difference in rebleeding rate between Asian patients(OR=0.831,95%CI,0.467-1.480)and European patients(OR=1.263,95%CI:0.827-1.929).CONCLUSION:Low-dose intravenous PPI can achieve the same efficacy as high-dose PPI following endoscopic hemostasis. | Wu, Liu-Cheng Cao, Yun-Fei Huang, Jia-Hao Liao, Cun Gao, Feng | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,20: | 19 |
| 8 | EFFECTS OF SUBMERGED MACROPHYTES ON SEDIMENT SUSPENSION AND NH_4-N RELEASE UNDER HYDRODYNAMIC CONDITIONS显示文摘Aquatic vegetation affects sediment suspension and nutrient release by changing the flow structure.Experiments on the influence of submerged vegetation on flow structure,sediment suspension,and NH4-N release were carried in a flume with natural submerged vegetation.Turbulence characteristics in the vegetation section were measured using a three-dimensional acoustic Doppler velocimeter.The effects of submerged vegetation on bed shear stress(),sediment suspension,and NH4-N release were analyzed.Results show that with vegetation,bed shear stress is reduced by about 20%-80%,which,in turn,reduces sediment suspension.The impact of submerged vegetation on sediment suspension and NH4-N release should be considered along with flow intensity.When the flow Reynolds number is relatively small,the submerged vegetation is quite capable of inhibiting sediment suspension and reducing NH4-N release,but when the Reynolds number reaches a certain value,the presence of aquatic plants exacerbates sediment suspension and promotes NH4-N release.Results also reveal that a highly significant positive correlation exists between NH4-N concentration and water turbidity in both vegetated and non-vegetated channels. | WANG Chao WANG Cun WANG Ze | 2010 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2010,22,6: | 19 |

| 10 | Genotypic Characterization of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Pigs and Retail Foods in China显示文摘Objective To investigate the genotypic diversity of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) isolated from pigs and retail foods from different geographical areas in China and further to study the routes and rates of transmission of this pathogen from animals to food. Methods Seventy-one MRSA isolates were obtained from pigs and retail foods and then characterized by multi-locus sequencing typing(MLST), spa typing, multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis(MLVA), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE), and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Results All isolated MRSA exhibited multi-drug resistance(MDR). Greater diversity was found in food-associated MRSA(7 STs, 8 spa types, and 10 MLVA patterns) compared to pig-associated MRSA(3 STs, 1 spa type, and 6 MLVA patterns). PFGE patterns were more diverse for pig-associated MRSA than those of food-associated isolates(40 vs. 11 pulse types). Among the pig-associated isolates, CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236 was the most prevalent clone(96.4%), and CC9-ST9-t437-MC621(20.0%) was the predominant clone among the food-associated isolates. The CC9-ST9 isolates showed significantly higher antimicrobial resistance than other clones. Interestingly, CC398-ST398-t034 clone was identified from both pig-and food-associated isolates. Of note, some community-and hospital-associated MRSA strains(t030, t172, t1244, and t4549) were also identified as food-associated isolates. Conclusion CC9-ST9-t899-MC2236-MDR was the most predominant clone in pigs, but significant genetic diversity was observed in food-associated MRSA. | 13 | Mineral association and graphite inclusions in nephrite jade from Liaoning, northeast China: Implications for metamorphic conditions and ore genesis显示文摘The Liaoning Province in the northeastern part of the North China Craton(NCC) hosts several tremolite jade(nephrite) deposits. Here we investigate the Sangpiyu tremolite jade deposit where the relationship between abundant graphite inclusions within the jade remains enigmatic. We employ petrography, electron probe microanalysis, X-ray-diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy to characterize the tremolite jade and its inclusion minerals. The Sangpiyu jade is predominately composed of tremolite with minor calcite, dolomite, serpentine, titanite, zoisite, allanite, chlorite,apatite, chromite and graphite. Raman spectroscopy of graphite inclusions shows that the D1/G intensity ratio ranges from 0.78 to 0.88 in deep green samples and from 0.05 to 0.23 in dark green samples. The ranges of D1/(D1 + G) integral area ratio for these types are from 0.0548 to 0.3037 and 0.5528 to 0.7355 respectively. The formation temperature of graphite inclusions in the dark green tremolite jade is computed as 549.8 ℃, whereas that for the deep green sample is about343.2 ℃. | 15 | FOXP3 expression and clinical characteristics of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To study the biological and clinical characteristics of transcription factor forkhead box protein 3 (FOXP3) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: We analyzed the expression and localization of FOXP3 in HCC tissues and cell lines to evaluate its biological features. The relationship between FOXP3 staining and clinical risk factors of HCC was assessedto identify the clinical characteristics of FOXP3 in HCC. RESULTS: The mRNA and protein expression of FOXP3 were found in some hepatoma cell lines. Immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis of HCC sections revealed that 48% of HCC displayed FOXP3 staining, but we did not find any FOXP3 staining in normal liver tissues and para-tumor tissues. IHC and Confocal analysis showed that the expressions of FOXP3 were mainly present in the nucleus and cytoplasm of tumor cells in tissues or cell lines. In HCC, the distribution of FOXP3 was similar to that of the cirrhosis, but not to the hepatitis B virus. Those findings implicate that FOXP3 staining seems to be associated with the high risk of HCC. | 16 | Orexin A attenuates the sleep-promoting effect of adenosine in the lateral hypothalamus of rats显示文摘Orexin neurons within the lateral hypothalamus play a crucial role in the promotion and maintenance of arousal. Studies have strongly suggested that orexin neurons are an important target in endogenous adenosine-regulated sleep homeostasis. Orexin A induces a robust increase in the firing activity of orexin neurons, while adenosine has an inhibitory effect. Whether the excitatory action of orexins in the lateral hypothalamus actually promotes wakefulness and reverses the sleep-producing effect of adenosine in vivo is less clear. In this study,electroencephalographic and electromyographic recordings were used to investigate the effects of orexin A and adenosine on sleep and wakefulness in rats. We found that microinjection of orexin A into the lateral hypothalamus increased wakefulness with a concomitant reduction of sleep during the first 3 h of post-injection recording, and this was completely blocked by a selective antagonist for orexin receptor 1,SB 334867. The enhancement of wakefulness also occurred after application of the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate in the first 3 h post-injection. However, in the presence of the NMDA receptor antagonist APV, orexin A did not induce any change of sleep and wakefulness in the first 3 h.Further, exogenous application of adenosine into the lateral hypothalamus induced a marked increase of sleep in the first 3-h post-injection. No significant change in sleep and wakefulness was detected after adenosine application followed by orexin A administration into the same brain area. | 17 | Heat shock induction of a 65 kDa ATP-binding proteinase in rat C6 glioma cells显示文摘The 45, 55, 65 and 100 kDa ATP-binding proteinases (ATP-BPases) of the heat-shocked (44 ℃ for 30 min, recovery for 12h) rat C6 glioma cells were purified by DEAE-ionexchange and ATP-affinity chromatography. Their molecular masses, isoelectric points (pI), pH-optima and other properties were analyzed by native proteinase gels.It was shown that the 65 kDa ATP-BPase is specifically induced by heat shock and not detectable in control cells.Its N-terminal 1-9 amino acid sequence was determined by Edman degradation, but no homologies to other proteins in the protein data bases were found. 30 and 31 kDa proteinases can be cleaved from the 45, 55 and 65 kDa proteinases to which they are linked. | 18 | APE1 polymorphisms are associated with colorectal cancer susceptibility in Chinese Hans显示文摘AIM:To study the association between four base excision repair gene polymorphisms and colorectal cancer risk in a Chinese population.METHODS:Two hundred forty-seven colorectal cancer(CRC)patients and three hundred cancer-free controls were enrolled in this study.Four polymorphisms(OGG1Ser326Cys,APE1 Asp148Glu,-141T/G in the promoter region,and XRCC1 Arg399Gln)in components of the base excision repair pathway were determined in patient blood samples using polymerase chain reaction with confronting two-pair primers.The baseline information included age,gender,family history of cancer,and three behavioral factors[smoking status,alcohol consumption,and body mass index(BMI)].χ2tests were used to assess the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium,the distributions of baseline characteristics,and the four gene polymorphisms between the cases and controls.Multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to analyze the correlations between the four polymorphisms and CRC risk,adjusted by the baseline characteristics.Likelihood ratio tests were performed to analyze the gene-behavior interactions of smoking status,alcohol consumption,and BMI on polymorphisms and CRC susceptibility.RESULTS:The APE1 148 Glu/Glu genotype was significantly associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer(OR=2.411,95%CI:1.497-3.886,P<0.001relative to Asp/Asp genotype).There were no associations between OGG1,XRCC1,or APE1 promoter polymorphisms and CRC risk.A multivariate analysis including three behavioral factors showed that the APE1 148Glu/Glu genotype was associated with an increased risk for CRC among both smokers and non-smokers,non-drinkers and individuals with a BMI≥25 kg/m2(ORs=2.356,3.299,2.654,and 2.581,respectively).The XRCC1 399 Arg/Gln genotype was associated with a decreased risk of CRC among smokers and drinkers(OR=0.289,95%CI:0.152-0.548,P<0.001,and OR=0.327,95%CI:0.158-0.673,P<0.05,respectively).The APE1 promoter polymorphism-141 T/G genotype was associated with a reduced risk of colorectal cancer among subjects with a BMI<25 kg/m2(OR=0.214,95%CI:0.069-0.660,P<0.05 relative to T/T genotype).There were significant gene-behavior interactions between smoking status and XRCC1 Arg399Gln,as well as BMI and APE1-141T/G polymorphism(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION:APE1 Asp148Glu is associated with increased CRC risk and smoking alters the association between XRCC1 Arg399Gln and CRC risk in the Chinese Han population. | Shi-Heng Zhang Lin-Ang Wang Zheng Li Yu Peng Yan Ping Cun Nan Dai Yi Cheng He Xiao Yan-Li Xiong Dong Wang | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,26: | 8 |
| 19 | Anatomy of the lateral ligaments of the rectum: A controversial point of view显示文摘The existence and composition of the lateral ligaments of the rectum (LLR) are still the subjects of anatomical confusion and surgical misconception up to now. Since Miles proposed abdominoperineal excision as radical surgery for rectal cancer, the identification by 'hooking them on the finger' has been accepted by many surgeons with no doubt; clamping, dividing and ligating are considered to be essential procedures in mobilization of the rectum in many surgical textbooks. But in cadaveric studies, many anatomists could not find LLR described by the textbooks, and more and more surgeons also failed to find LLR during the proctectomy according to the principle of total mesorectal excision. The anatomy of LLR has diverse descriptions in literatures. According to our clinical observations, the traditional anatomical structures of LLR do exist; LLR are constant dense connective bundles which are located in either lateral side of the lower part of the rectum, run between rectal visceral fascia and pelvic parietal fascia above the levator ani, and covered by superior fascia of pelvic diaphragm. | 20 | Variable load failure mechanism for high-speed load sensing electro-hydrostatic actuator pump of aircraft显示文摘This paper presents a novel transient lubrication model for the analysis of the variable load failure mechanism of high-speed pump used in Load Sensing Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator(LS-EHA). Focusing on the slipper/swashplate pair partial abrasion, which is considered as the dominant failure mode in the high-speed condition, slipper dynamic models are established. A forth sliding motion of the slipper on the swashplate surface is presented under the fact that the slipper center of mass will rotate around the center of piston ball when the swashplate angle is dynamically adjusted. Besides, extra inertial tilting moments will be produced for the slipper based on the theorem on translation of force, which will increase rapidly when LS-EHA pump operates under highspeed condition. Then, a dynamic lubricating model coupling with fluid film thickness field, temperature field and pressure field is proposed. The deformation effects caused by thermal deflection and hydrostatic pressure are considered. A numerical simulation model is established to validate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed model.
