Understanding the role of interface in advanced semiconductor nanostructure and its interplay with wave function overlap显示文摘As the proportion of interfaces increases rapidly in nanomaterials, properties and quality of interfaces hugely impact the performance of advanced semiconductors. Here, the effect of interfaces is explored by comparatively studying two InAs/AlSb superlattices with and without the thin InAsSb layers inserted inside each InAs layers.Through strain mapping,it indicates that the addition of interfaces leads to an increase of local strain both near interfaces and inside layers.Meantime, owing to the creation of hole potential wells within the original electron wells, the charge distribution undergoes an extra electron-hole alternating arrangement in the structure with inserted layers than the uninserted counterpart.Such a feature is verified to enhance electron-hole wave function overlap by theoretical simulations, which is a must for better optical performance.Furthermore, with an elaborate design of the inserted layers, the wave function overlap could be boosted without sacrificing other key device performances. | Chenyuan Cai Yunhao Zhao Faran Chang Xuebing Zhao Liting Yang Chongyun Liang Guowei Wang Zhichuan Niu Yi Shi Xianhu Liu Yuesheng Li Renchao Che | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,6: | 1

Effect of Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae) decoction on the substantia nigra through Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in rats with Parkinson's disease induced by 6-hydroxydopamine hydrochloride显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae)decoction on the substantia nigra in rats with Parkinson’s disease(PD)induced by 6-hydroxydopamine hydrochloride(6-OHDA).To further determine whether the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is involved in the action.METHODS:A rat model of PD was established by intracranial injection of 6-OHDA.Subsequently,three concentrations of Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae)decoction were prepared and administered to rats by gavage therapy for 14 d.Behavioral changes were measured in PD rats.In vivo tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)levels in the substantia nigra were examined by immunohistochemistry.Additionally, gene and protein expression levels of members of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway were examined by Western blotting and polymerase chain reaction.Lastly,a Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor was used to investigate the mechanism of action in 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium(MPP+)-treated MES23.5 cells in vitro.RESULTS:Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae)decoction improved performance in the stride and gait adjustment tests in PD rats.It also increased TH in the substantia nigra and altered the expression of genes and proteins in the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor reduced the effect of Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae)decoction in MPP+-treated MES23.5 cells.CONCLUSION:Roucongrong(Herba Cistanches Deserticolae)decoction may promote neuronal survival in PD in vivo and in vitro by increasing TH content in the substantia nigra and by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. | XU Qian QIN Wei WU Fangzhen LIN Yao HONG Liting CHEN Dan HU Xuefeng CAI Jing | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,5: | 1
Wear Characteristics of the Nuclear Control Rod Drive Mechanism(CRDM)Movable Latch Serviced in High Temperature Water显示文摘The current research of nuclear control rod drive mechanism(CRDM)movable latch only makes a simple measurement of wear mass. The wear volume and difference in various claw surfaces are ignored and the degradation mechanism of each claw surface is not clear. In this paper,a detailed degradation analysis was carried out on each claw surface of movable latch combined with wear result and worn morphology. Results indicate that the boundary of carbide is preferred for corrosion because carbide presents a nobler Volta potential compared to the metal matrix or boundary region.Due to the oscillation of drive shaft between the claw surfaces of movable latch, the dominant wear mechanism on the upper surface of claw(USC)and lower surface of claw(LSC)is plastic deformation caused by impact wear.Mechanical impact wear will cause the fragmentation of carbides because of the high hardness and low ductility of carbides.Corrosion promotes the broken carbides to fall off from the metal matrix. The generated fine carbides(abrasive particles)cause extra abrasive wear on USC when the movable brings the drive shaft upward or downward. As a result,USC has a higher wear volume than LSC.This research proposes a method to evaluate the wear on the whole movable latches using a 3D full-size scanner. | Tianda Yu Guozhong Fu Yanqing Yu Liting Zhu Maofu Liu Wei Li Qiang Deng Zhenbing Cai | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2022,35,2: | 1
Correlating cognitive impairment with carotid atherosclerosis and carotid artery stenosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that carotid atherosclerosis and carotid artery stenosis are closely associated with cognitive impairment in patients with and without clinically evident cerebrovascular disease. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation between the degree of pathological changes in carotid atherosclerosis, carotid artery stenosis, and cognitive impairment in patients with acute cerebral infarction through the use of color Doppler imaging. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The present concurrent, non-randomized, controlled experiment was performed at the Departments of Neurology and Ultrasound, Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College between November 2006 and August 2007. PARTICIPANTS: Fifty-five patients with cerebral infarction, consisting of 35 males and 20 females, aged 50–82 years, were admitted to the hospital between November 2006 and August 2007 and recruited for this study. An additional 30 subjects consisting of 18 males and 12 females, aged 47–78 years, that concurrently received a health examination at the same hospital, were also included as normal controls. METHODS: Intima-media thickness (IMT), plaque shape, size, and echo intensity of all subjects were detected by color Doppler flow imaging. Assessment criteria: IMT > 1.0 mm was considered to be intimal thickening, and IMT > 1.2 mm was determined to be formed atherosclerotic plaques. In the position of the largest plaque, the degree of carotid artery stenosis was determined by the following formula: (1-cross-sectional area of residual vascular luminal area/vascular cross-sectional area) × 100%. Less than 30% exhibited mild stenosis, 30%-40% moderate stenosis, and > 50% severe stenosis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: IMT and the degree of carotid artery stenosis were evaluated by color Doppler flow imaging. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), as well as the clinical memory scale, was compared between patients with cerebral infarction and normal controls. RESULTS: In the cerebral infarction group, IMT was increased, the degree of carotid artery stenosis was aggravated, and the MMSE and MQ scores of clinical memory scale were decreased. In particular, orientation of time and place, attention, calculation, and short-time memory were decreased. There were statistically significant differences in MMSE and MQ of clinical memory scale between patients with cerebral infarction and normal controls (P < 0.01). The scores from the two scales were significantly lower in patients with cerebral infarction with carotid plaque subgroup compared to the cerebral infarction with no carotid plaque subgroup (P < 0.01). The scores from the two scales were also significantly lower in patients with IMT > 1.0 mm, as well as moderate and severe carotid artery stenosis, compared to patients with IMT ≤ 1.0 mm, and normal and mild stenosis group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: More severe atherosclerotic and carotid artery stenosis leads to more obvious cognitive impairment. | Yamei Cai Xiaoming Wang Xin Liu Liting Cao | 2008 | Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,8: | 0
Extracting Lotus Fields Using the Spectral Characteristics of GF-1 Satellite Data显示文摘The lotus(Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.)is an aquatic plant that grows in shallow water and has long been cultivated in South China. It can improve the incomes of farmers and plays an important role in alleviating poverty in rural China. However,a modern method is required to accurately estimate the area of lotus fields.Lotus has spectral characteristics similar to those of rice, grassland, and shrubs. The features surrounding areas where it is grown are complex, small, and fragmented.Few studies have examined the remote sensing extraction of lotus fields, and automatic extraction and mapping are still challenging methods. Here,we compared the spectral characteristics of lotus fields and other ground objects and devised a remote sensing method for the rapid extraction of lotus fields.Using this method, the extraction accuracy of lotus was 96.3%.The Kappa coefficient was 0.926,which is higher than those of the unsupervised K-means classification,Mahalanobis distance, and support vector machine supervised classification, and demonstrates the potential of this method for extracting and mapping lotus fields by remote sensing. | Dongping Zha Haisheng Cai Xueling Zhang Qinggang He Liting Chen Chunqing Qiu Shufang Xia | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,10: | 0
