| 1 | A study on the mixing proportion in groundwater samples by using Piper diagram and Phreeqc model显示文摘Piper (1944) diagram has been the basis for several important interpretations of the hydrogeochemical data. As seen in this diagram, most natural waters contain relatively few dissolved constituents, with cations (metals or bases) and anions (acid radicles) in chemical equilibrium with one another. Apart from the facies representation, the composition of the mixed sample can be identified in terms of the composition of the parental solution. To bring out this advantage of the Piper diagram, a study was conducted in the Kalpakkam region of Tamilnadu, South India. By taking the geology and water table into consideration, two sample locations were selected as parent solution and third one as the mixture sample. All three samples were analyzed for calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na), potassium (K), chloride (Cl), sulphate (SO4) and phosphate (PO4) by Ion Chromatograph (Metrohm IC 861). HCO3 was determined by volumetric titration. The Piper diagram shows that parent solutions clustered towards Na-Mg-Ca-HCO3-Cl and Na-HCO3 facies, and the mixing sample belongs to Na-Mg-HCO3 facies. Phreeqc interac-tive (Ver 2.8) along with the original composition of the mixture sample was used to correlate the mixing proportion identified by the Piper diagram. | Karmegam U. Chidambaram S. | 2 | Novel degradation products of argatroban: Isolation, synthesis and extensive characterization using NMR and LC-PDA-MS/Q-TOF显示文摘Forced degradation study of argatroban under conditions of hydrolysis(neutral, acidic and alkaline), oxidation,photolysis and thermal stress, as suggested in the ICH Q1 A(R2), was accomplished. The drug showed significant degradation under hydrolysis(acidic, alkaline) and oxidation(peroxide stress) conditions. The drug remained stable under thermal and photolytic stress conditions. In total, seven novel degradation products(DP-1 to DP-7) were found under diverse conditions, which were not reported earlier. | 3 | Effect of heat treatment conditions on the passivation behavior of WE43CMg-Y-Nd alloy in chloride containing alkaline environments显示文摘Mg–Y–Nd alloy(WE43C or Elektron 43)is a heat treatable magnesium wrought alloy that can be used up to 250 ℃ for aerospace application.This alloy has excellent mechanical properties(UTS:up to 345 MPa at room temperature)and improved corrosion resistance.Electrochemical passivation studies were conducted on this alloy under different heat treatment conditions in 0.1 M NaOH solution with the addition of chloride from 0 to 1000 ppm.The passive potential range typically extended to more than 1.5 VAg/AgCl.The transpassive potential was not dependent on the heat treatment condition of the alloy when the chloride concentration increased up to 500 ppm.However,pitting protection potential varied with the heat treatment condition when the chloride addition was 500 ppm or more.The specimen surface was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the passivation behavior of this alloy.The passivated surface of the WE43C specimens indicated that the surface layer consisted of MgO,Mg(OH)_(2),and rare earth oxide phases,and the heat treatment conditions did not significantly affect the composition of the surface film. | Jakraphan Ninlachart Zachary Karmiol Dev Chidambaram Krishnan SRaja | 2017 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2017,5,2: | 3 |

| 14 | Heart failure in COVID-19 patients:Critical care experience显示文摘Patients with heart failure(HF)may be at a higher risk of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)infection and may have a worse outcome due to their comorbid conditions and advanced age.In this narrative review,we aim to study the interaction between COVID-19 and HF from a critical care perspective.We performed a systematic search for studies that reported HF and critical carerelated outcomes in COVID-19 patients in the PubMed and Medline databases.From a total of 1050 papers,we identified 26 that satisfied the eligibility criteria for our review.Data such as patient demographics,HF,intensive care unit(ICU)admission,management,and outcome were extracted from these studies and analyzed.We reported outcomes in heart-transplant patients with COVID-19 separately.In hospitalized patients with COVID-19,the prevalence of HF varied between 4%and 21%.The requirement for ICU admission was between 8%and 33%.HF patients with COVID-19 had an overall mortality rate between 20%and 40%.We identified that HF is an independent predictor of mortality in hospitalized COVID-19 patients,and patients with HF were more likely to require ventilation,ICU admission and develop complications.Patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction did worse than those with HF with midrange ejection fraction,and HF with preserved ejection fraction.COVID-19 patients with HF should be identified early and managed aggressively in an attempt to improve outcomes in this cohort of patients. | Kevin John John Ajay K Mishra Chidambaram Ramasamy Anu A George Vijairam Selvaraj Amos Lal | 2022 | World Journal of Virology2022,11,1: | 1 |
