| 8 | The potential of berries to serve as selective inhibitors of pathogens and promoters of beneficial microorganisms显示文摘OBJECTIVES:Berries are distinct from other foods because of their unique compounds with bioprotective effects and antimicrobial/prebiotic properties.With new knowledge of how these unique phytochemicals differentially affect microbial communities,inhibit foodborne pathogens,and conserve beneficial species,the health claims associated with berries can be further substantiated.This review explores components of berries that have antimicrobial or prebiotic properties and incorporates new knowledge gained from both in vitro and in vivo experiments.CONCLUSIONS:With the continued research efforts,antimicrobials and prebiotics derived from berries may provide an alternative to synthetic preservatives and antibiotics in addition to providing health benefits to consumers.Berries could be applied to food products or as dietary interventions through elucidating which compounds have antimicrobial properties and how pH and nutrient condition impact their efficacy.In addition,these compounds can be added to foods with beneficial microorganisms with minimal impact on their probiotic viability. | Alison Lacombe Vivian C.H.Wu | 2017 | Food Quality and Safety2017,1,1: | 0 |
| 9 | Time-Independent Finite Difference and Ghost Cell Method to Study Sloshing Liquid in 2D and 3D Tanks with Internal Structures显示文摘A finite difference scheme with ghost cell technique is used to study viscous fluid sloshing in 2D and 3D tanks with internal structures.The Navier-Stokes equations in a moving coordinate system are derived and they are mapped onto a time-independent and stretched domain.The staggered grid is used and the revised SIMPLEC iteration algorithm is performed.The developed numerical model is rigorously validated by extensive comparisons with reported analytical,numerical and experimental results.The present numerical results were also validated through an experiment setup with a tank excited by an inclined horizontal excitation or a tank mounted by a vertical baffle.The method is then applied to a number of problems including sloshing fluid in a 2D tank with a bottom-mounted baffle and in a 3D tank with a vertical plate.The phenomena of diagonal sloshing waves affected by a vertical plate are investigated in detail in this work.The effects of internal structures on the resonant frequency of a tank with liquid are discussed and the present developed numerical method can successfully analyze the sloshing phenomenon in 2D or 3D tanks with internal structures. | C.H.Wu O.M.Faltinsen B.F.Chen | 2013 | Communications in Computational Physics2013,13,3: | 0 |
| 10 | Combined soft measurement on key indicator parameters of new competitive advantages for China’s export显示文摘The estimation of the difference between the new competitive advantages of China’s export and the world’s trading powers have been the key measurement problems in China-related studies.In this work,a comprehensive evaluation index system for new export competitive advantages is developed,a soft-sensing model for China’s new export competitive advantages based on the fuzzy entropy weight analytic hierarchy process is established,and the soft-sensing values of key indexes are derived.The obtained evaluation values of the main measurement index are used as the input variable of the fuzzy least squares support vector machine,and a soft-sensing model of the key index parameters of the new export competitive advantages of China based on the combined soft-sensing model of the fuzzy least squares support vector machine is established.The soft-sensing results of the new export competitive advantage index of China show that the soft measurement model developed herein is of high precision compared with other models,and the technical and brand competitiveness indicators of export products have more significant contributions to the new competitive advantages of China’s export,while the service competitiveness indicator of export products has the least contribution to new competitive advantages of China’s export. | Taosheng Wang Hongyan Zuo C.H.Wu B.Hu | 2021 | Financial Innovation2021,7,1: | 0 |
