4DNA origami mediated electrically connected metal–semiconductor junctions显示文摘DNA-based nanofabrication of inorganic nanostructures has potential application in electronics,catalysis,and plasmonics.Previous DNA metallization has generated conductive DNA-assembled nanostructures;however,the use of semiconductors and the development of well-connected nanoscale metal-semiconductor junctions on DNA nanostructures are still at an early stage.Herein,we report the first fabrication of multiple electrically connected metal-semiconductor junctions on individual DNA origami by location-specific binding of gold and tellurium nanorods.Nanorod attachment to DNA origami was via DNA hybridization for Au and by electrostatic interaction for Te.Electroless gold plating was used to create nanoscale metal-semiconductor interfaces by filling the gaps between Au and Te nanorods.Two-point electrical characterization indicated that the Au-Te-Au junctions were electrically connected,with current-voltage properties consistent with a Schottky junction.DNA-based nanofabrication of metal-semiconductor junctions opens up potential opportunities in nanoelectronics,demonstrating the power of this bottom-up approach.Basu R.Aryal Dulashani R.Ranasinghe Tyler R.Westover Diana G.Calvopia Robert C.Davis John N.Harb Adam T.Woolley 2020Nano Research2020,13,5:2
5Pervasive hybridization during evolutionary radiation of Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes in mountains of southwest China显示文摘Radiations are especially important for generating species biodiversity in mountainous ecosystems.The contribution of hybridization to such radiations has rarely been examined.Here,we use extensive genomic data to test whether hybridization was involved in evolutionary radiation within Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes,whose members show strong geographic isolation in the mountains of southwest China.We sequenced genomes for 143 species of this subgenus and 93 species of four other subgenera,and found that Hymenanthes was monophyletic and radiated during the late Oligocene to middle Miocene.Widespread hybridization events were inferred within and between the identified clades and subclades.This suggests that hybridization occurred both early and late during diversification of subgenus Hymenan thes,although the extent to which hybridization,speciation through mixing-isolation-mixing or hybrid speciation,accelerated the diversification needs further exploration.Cycles of isolation and contact in such and other montane ecosystems may have together promoted species radiation through hybridization between diverging populations and species.Similar radiation processes may apply to other montane floras in this region and elsewhere.Yazhen Ma Xingxing Mao Ji Wang Lei Zhang Yuanzhong Jiang Yuying Geng Tao Ma Liming Cai Shuangquan Huang Pete Hollingsworth Kangshan Mao Minghui Kang Yiling Li Wenlu Yang Haolin Wu Yang Chen Charles C.Davis Nawal Shrestha Richard H.Ree Zhenxiang Xi Quanjun Hu Richard I.Milne Jianquan Liu 2022National Science Review2022,9,12:1

10Species delimitation of North American Nyssa species显示文摘The development of next-generation sequencing technologies allows researchers to address complex problems in species delimitation,especially for non-model organisms.The taxonomic status of North American Nyssa species has long been debated and remains controversial.To elucidate the genetic structure and phylogenetic relationships of the five currently recognized North American Nyssa species,we conducted whole-genome sequencing of representative individuals and identified genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)by utilizing the recently released chromosome-level assembly of Nyssa sinensis genome.Population genetic and phylogenetic analyses consistently inferred four well-supported genetic clusters from our sampled individuals,that is,N.aquatica,N.ogeche,N.sylvatica,and N.biflora-N.ursina.Although the identification of N.biflora and N.ursina is primarily based on the morphological characteristics of leaves and drupes,the present evidence,including our principal components analysis of leaf morphological traits,strongly supports the taxonomic designation of N.biflora and N.ursina as a single species.In addition,these four genetic clusters were grouped into two major clades,that is,clade 1(N.aquatica and N.ogeche)and clade 2(N.sylvatica and N.biflora-N.ursina).Despite the fact that no evidence of widespread gene flow was found between these two major clades,our analyses revealed the possibility of introgression from N.sylvatica into N.biflora,albeit at a relatively low frequency.This study demonstrates the use of whole-genome sequences as a promising avenue for delimiting species boundaries and further advocates for an integrative approach in the assessment of species delimitation.Yan-Ting Yang Xu-Chen Yang Ming-Cheng Wang Lin-Ling Zhong Rui Ma Tao Ma Jian-Quan Liu Charles C.Davis Zhen-Xiang Xi 2022Journal of Systematics and Evolution2022,60,4:0
