| 1 | Natural history of hepatitis-related hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is an important cause of cancer death in the world.It has great regional differences in the pathology and epidemiology.The variation is greatly influenced by the aetiologies of the disease.Hepatitis B and C infection are the most important risk factors.HCC incidence rates are higher but in decreasing trend in developing countries. However,the figures in the developed countries are contrary.Successful hepatitis B virus(HBV)vaccination programs,better food hygiene,increased global hepatitis C virus(HCV)prevalence and population migration are the possible explanations.A number of clinical and pathogenic differences exist between HBV- and HCV- related HCC.HBV infection leads to the development of HCC through direct and indirect pathways as it has the ability to integrate into the host genome affecting cellular signaling and growth control.HCV causes HCC mainly through indirect pathways:chronic inflammation, cell deaths and proliferation.As a result,HCC is almost exclusively found in cirrhotic HCV patients while HCC is sometimes found in HBV patients without significant liver cirrhosis.Due to the different severities of liver cirrhosis and HCC extent,therapeutic strategies from resection, liver transplantation to symptoms palliation are available. | 3 | The Induction of Liver Microsomal Cytochrome P450 by Glycyrrhiza uralensis and Glycyrrhetinic acid in Mice显示文摘The effect of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch (GRZ) aqueous extract and one of its active principles Glycyrrhetinic acid (GRT) on hepatic cytochrome P450 in mice were investigated. Oral administration of GRZ at 10g/kg/d or GRT at 50 mg/kg/d for 7 days was foulld to increase the P450 contents up to 4.6 fold compared with the controls. The activities of aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase (AHH,3. 1 and 3. 3 fold), aminopyrine N-demethylase (ADM, 4. 2 and 3. 2 folds), and 7-ethoxycumarin O-deethylase (ECOD, 2. 8 and 2. 5 fold) were also shown to be increased. Westem blot analysis showed that the subtypes of P450 isoforms induced selectively by GRZ and GRT included CYP1A1 (1. 8 and 1. 5 fold over that of the control, respectively), CYP2B1 (both 1.3 fold), and CYP2C11(3 .2 and 3 .0 fold). | 10 | Application of DNA barcodes in Hedyotis L.(Spermacoceae,Rubiaceae)显示文摘The potential application of DNA barcodes of plastid(matK,trnH-psbA,petD,and rbcL) and nuclear(internal transcribed spacer(ITS) of rDNA) DNA regions was investigated for 25 Hedyotis taxa.The ITS showed the best species discrimination by resolving 23 of the species as exclusive lineages with no shared alleles between any of the 24 distinct species(H.assimilis and H.mellii are not supported as distinct species based on our molecular and morphological data).Conversely,rbcL performed the worst and only resolved 10 of the species as exclusive lineages,and 10 species with shared alleles.Using ITS has the advantage of high PCR amplification success and it provides good intra-and interspecific variation distribution patterns.The most powerful plastid markers were petD and trnH-psbA,but we could amplify and sequence trnH-psbA for only 83% of the accessions sampled.Combination of ITS and petD performed extremely well,with all 24 of the distinct species resolved as exclusive lineages and no shared alleles between any of the distinct species.We therefore recommend ITS,or a combination of ITS and petD,as the standard DNA barcode in Hedyotis,but acknowledge that there are no shared alleles between distinct species for matK and rbcL combined. | Xing GUO Mark R SIMMONS Paul Pui-Hay BUT Pang-Chui SHAW Rui-Jiang WANG | 2011 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2011,49,3: | 2 |
| 11 | Photoluminescence and electrochemiluminescence studies of chosen rare earths systems显示文摘Eu(III) complexes with chosen Keggin polyoxomatalates, POM, containing organic counter cations (tetrabutylammonium, tetrabutylphosphonium, triphenylethylphosphonium), were synthesized, and their photophysical properties were studied. The synthesized complexes had the general formula of XnH5-n[EuSiW11O39], formulated based on the results of elemental and thermogravimetric analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. The photophysical properties of the obtained compounds were investigated using photoluminescence and electro- chemiluminescence, ECL, methods in solutions and solids. The most intense luminescence of Eu(III) was observed for the complexes with tetrabutylammonium cations. After the addition of phenanthroline to the XnH5-n[EuSiW11O39] solutions, a large increase in the Eu(III) lumi- nescence intensity and a lengthening of its luminescence lifetime were observed as a result of the formation of ternary complexes. Attempts to apply ECL as a method of light emission by generating species capable of forming excited states in Ln/POMs, i.e., Tb(III) and Eu(III) in the Na9EuW10O36 and Na9TbW10O36 complexes, were made.
