1Transcriptome analysis of the effect of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium(PQQ·Na2) on reproductive performance in sows during gestation and lactation显示文摘Background: Pyrroloquinoline quinone(PQQ), which is a water soluble, thermo-stable triglyceride-quinone, is widely distributed in nature and characterized as a mammalian vitamin-like redox cofactor. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium(PQQ·Na2) on reproductive performance in sows.Results: Dietary supplementation with PQQ·Na2 significantly increased the total number of piglets born, the number of piglets born alive and the born alive litter weight. It also increased the antioxidant status in the placenta, plasma and milk. The concentration of NO was significantly increased in the plasma and placenta. RNA-seq analysis showed that462 unigenes were differentially expressed between the control(Con) treatment and PQQ treatment groups.Among these unigenes, 199 were upregulated, while 263 unigenes were downregulated. The assigned functions of the unigenes covered a broad range of GO categories. Reproduction(27, 7.03%) and the reproduction process(27, 7.03%) were assigned to the biological process category. 2Background Characteristics of Atmospheric CO2 and the Potential Source Regions in the Pearl River Delta Region of China显示文摘Mole fractions of atmospheric CO2(XCO2)have been continuously measured from October 2014 to March 2016 at the Guangzhou Panyu Atmospheric Composition Site(23.00°N,113.21°E;140 m MSL)in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region using a cavity ring-down spectrometer.Approximately 66.63%,19.28%,and 14.09%of the observed values were filtered as background,pollutant source,and sink due to biospheric uptake,respectively,by applying a robust local regression procedure.Their corresponding mean values were 424.12±10.12 ppm(×10-6 mol mol-1),447.83±13.63 ppm,and 408.83±7.75 ppm.The background XCO2 levels were highest in spring and winter,moderate in autumn,and lowest in summer.The diurnal XCO2 was at a minimum from 1400-1600 LST(Local Standard Time)and a maximum at 0500 LST the next day.The increase of XCO2 in spring and summer was mainly associated with polluted air masses from south coastal Vietnam,the South China Sea,and the southeast Pearl River Estuary.With the exception of summer,airflow primarily from marine regions southeast of Taiwan that passed over the Pearl River Estuary had a greater impact on XCO2,suggesting an important potential source region.Boru MAI Xuejiao DENG Fang ZHANG Hao HE Tian LUAN Fei LI Xia LIU 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,6:2
3Floristic composition and endemism pattern of vascular plants in Ethiopia and Eritrea显示文摘Traditional attempts to delineate floristic regions are typically based on the qualitative analysis of species distribution,often ignoring the phylogenetic relationships among their taxa.Ethiopia and Eritrea are in the Horn of Africa,known as one of the world's biodiversity hotspots.We quantitatively classified the flora of Ethiopia and Eritrea into meaningful geographical units by analyzing the taxonomic and phylogeneticβ‐diversity at genera,total species,and endemic species levels at a scale of 0.5°×0.5°grid cells.Hierarchical clustering was used to quantitatively delimitate the flora and analysis of similarities was used to test the significant difference between the derived groups in taxonomic composition and phylogenetic relatedness.In total,two floristic subprovinces,five floristic districts,and 13 floristic subdistricts,as well as three centers of species endemism associated with three floristic subdistricts were identified.Our results also showed that the species diversity,endemism,and turnover of the highlands in Ethiopia and Eritrea were much higher than the lowlands,indicating that the floristic differences are closely related to the topography of the East African Rift.In this study,we provided a scientific framework for the composition and relationships of the floristic units in the Horn of Africa,and similarly provided a scientific basis for better conservation of the diversity in this region.Sheng‐Wei Wang Biyansa Hirpo Boru Antony Waigwa Njogu Anne Christine Ochola Guang‐Wan Hu Ya‐Dong Zhou Qing‐Feng Wang 2020Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020,58,1:2

20Mechanoluminescent hybrids from a natural resource for energy-related applications显示文摘Mechanoluminescent(ML)materials that directly convert mechanical energy into photon emission have emerged as promising candidates for various applications.Despite the recent advances in the development of both novel and conventional ML materials,the limited access to ML materials that simultaneously have the attributes of high brightness,low cost,self-recovery,and stability,and the lack of appropriate designs for constructing ML devices represent significant challenges that remain to be addressed to boost the practical application of ML materials.Herein,ML hybrids derived from a natural source,waste eggshell,with the aforementioned attributes are demonstrated.The introduction of the eggshell not only enables the preparation of the hybrid in a simple and cost-effective manner but also contributes to the homochromatism(red,green,or blue emission),high brightness,and robustness of the resultant ML hybrids.The significant properties of the ML hybrids,together with the proposed structural design,such as porosity or core–shell structure,could expedite a series of mechanic-optical applications,including the self-luminous shoes for the conversion of human motions into light and light generators that efficiently harvest water wave energy.The fascinating properties,versatile designs,and the efficient protocol of“turning waste into treasure”of the ML hybrids represent significant advances in ML materials,promising a leap to the practical applications of this flouring material family.Chunfeng Wang Ronghua Ma Dengfeng Peng Xianhu Liu Jing Li Boru Jin Aixian Shan Yu Fu Lin Dong Wenchao Gao Zhong Lin Wang Caofeng Pan 2021InfoMat2021,3,11:1
