Impact of tree diversity and environmental conditions on the survival of shrub species in a forest biodiversity experiment in subtropical China显示文摘Aims Although shrubs are an important component of forests, their role has not yet been considered in forest biodiversity experiments. In the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning(BEF)experiment with subtropical tree species in south-east China(BEF-China),we factorially combined tree with shrub species-diversity treatments. Here,we tested the hypotheses that shrub survival differs between the 10 planted shrub species, with lower survival rates of late-than early-successional species and is affected by environmental conditions, such as topography and top soil characteristics,as well as by biotic factors, represented by tree, shrub and herb layer characteristics. Methods We analyzed the survival of 42000 shrub individuals in 105 plots varying in tree and shrub species richness of the BEF-China project four years after planting.Shrub survival was analyzed with generalized linear mixed effects models at the level of individuals and with variance partitioning at the plot level.Random intercept and random slope models of different explanatory variables were compared with respect to the Bayesian Information Criterion(BIC).Important Findings Survival rates differed largely between the 10 shrub species, ranging from 26%to 91%for Ardisia crenata and Distylium buxifolium, respectively.Irrespective of species identity, single abiotic factors explained up to 5%of species survival, with a negative effect of altitude and slope inclination and a positive effect of the topsoil carbon to nitrogen ratio, which pointed to drought as the major cause of shrub mortality. In contrast, neither tree nor shrub richness affected shrub survival at this early stage of the experiment.Among the biotic predictors, only herb layer species richness and cover of the dominant fern species(Dicranopteris pedata)affected shrub survival.Overall, our models that included all variables could explain about 65%in shrub survival, with environmental variables being most influential, followed by shrub species identity, while tree species diversity(species richness and identity)and herb layer characteristics contributed much less. Thus,in this early stage of the experiment the biotic interactions among shrubs and between shrubs and trees have not yet overruled the impact of abiotic environmental factors. | Bo Yang Ying Li Bingyang Ding Sabine Both Alexandra Erfmeier Werner Härdtle Keping Ma Bernhard Schmid Thomas Scholten Gunnar Seidler Goddert von Oheimb Xuefei Yang Helge Bruelheide | 2017 | Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,1: | 7
Nanoparticle–Cartilage Interaction: Pathology-Based Intra-articular Drug Delivery for Osteoarthritis Therapy显示文摘Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent chronic and debilitating joint disease, resulting in huge medical and socioeconomic burdens.Intra-articular administration of agents is clinically used for pain management. However, the effectiveness is inapparent caused by the rapid clearance of agents. To overcome this issue, nanoparticles as delivery systems hold considerable promise for local control of the pharmacokinetics of therapeutic agents.Given the therapeutic programs are inseparable from pathological progress of osteoarthritis,an ideal delivery system should allow the release of therapeutic agents upon specific features of disorders. In this review,we firstly introduce the pathological features of osteoarthritis and the design concept for accurate localization within cartilage for sustained drug release. Then,we review the interactions of nanoparticles with cartilage microenvironment and the rational design.Furthermore,we highlight advances in the therapeutic schemes according to the pathology signals. Finally, armed with an updated understanding of the pathological mechanisms,we place an emphasis on the development of“smart”bioresponsive and multiple modality nanoparticles on the near horizon to interact with the pathological signals. We anticipate that the exploration of nanoparticles by balancing the efficacy, safety, and complexity will lay down a solid foundation tangible for clinical translation. | Xu Li Bingyang Dai Jiaxin Guo Lizhen Zheng Quanyi Guo Jiang Peng Jiankun Xu Ling Qin | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,10: | 5
Interfacial Synthesis ofδ-MnO2 Nano-sheets with a Large Surface Area and Their Application in Electrochemical Capacitors显示文摘Birnessite-type MnO_2(δ-MnO_2) nano-sheets were successfully synthesized by an interfacial synthesis method in this work. The properties and electrochemical performance of the as-prepared δ-MnO_2 were analyzed and evaluated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),nitrogen adsorption measurement and electrochemical tests. This facile synthesis method enables δ-MnO_2 nanosheets to show a large specific surface area(257.5 m^2 g^(-1)).The electrochemical test results show that the specific capacitance is 272 Fg^(-1) and the specific capacitance retention is over 96.7%after 1000 cycles at a scan rate of 10 mV s^(-1).All results demonstrate that δ-MnO_2 has a great potential application in highperformance electrochemical capacitors, and this interfacial synthesis method will be a very promising method to synthesize highly active MnO_2 materials in a large scale. | Zhijun Jia Jun wang Yi Wang Bingyang Li Baoguo Wang Tao Qi Xin Wang | 2016 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,2: | 4
Synergistic effects of magnesium ions and simvastatin on attenuation of high-fat diet-induced bone loss显示文摘Introduction:Magnesium(Mg)has a prophylactic potential against the onset of hyperlipidemia.Similar to statin,Mg is recommended as lipid-lowering medication for hypercholesterolemia and concomitantly exhibits an association with increased bone mass. The combination of statin with Mg ions(Mg^(2+))may be able to alleviate the high-fat diet(HFD)-induced bone loss and reduce the side-effects of statin. This study aimed to explore the feasibility of combined Mg^(2+)with simvastatin(SIM)for treating HFD-induced bone loss in mice and the involving mechanisms.Materials and methods:C57BL/6 male mice were fed with a HFD or a normal-fat diet(NFD).Mice were intraperitoneally injected SIM and/or orally received water with additional Mg^(2+)until sacrificed.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed to measure cytokines and cholesterol in serum and liver lysates.Bone mineral density(BMD)and microarchitecture were assessed by micro-computed tomography(μCT)in different groups. The adipogenesis in palmitate pre-treated HepG2 cells was performed under various treatments. Results:μCT analysis showed that the trabecular bone mass was significantly lower in the HFD-fed group than that in NFD-fed group since week 8.The cortical thickness in HFD-fed group had a significant decrease at week 24,as compared with NFD-fed group. The combination of Mg^(2+)and SIM significantly attenuated the trabecular bone loss in HFD-fed mice via arresting the osteoclast formation and bone resorption.Besides, such combination also reduced the hepatocytic synthesis of cholesterol and inhibited matrix metallopeptidase 13(Mmp13)mRNA expression in pre-osteoclasts.Conclusions:The combination of Mg^(2+)and SIM shows a synergistic effect on attenuating the HFD-induced bone loss. Our current formulation may be a cost-effective alternative treatment to be indicated for obesity-related bone loss. | Bingyang Dai Xu Li Jiankun Xu Yuwei Zhu Le Huang Wenxue Tong Hao Yao Dick Ho-kiu Chow Ling Qin | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,8: | 4
A Differential Game Based Approach Against Objective Function Attack in Cognitive Networks显示文摘We study the problem of defense strategy against Objective function attack(OFA) in Cognitive networks(CNs), where the network can be operated at the optimal state by adapting the parameters of its objective function. An OFA attacker can disrupt the parameter adaptation by interfering measures, which results in some operating parameters of the objective function deviating from their optimal settings. We first model the interactive process between the OFA attacker and defense system using differential game theory, and propose a defense strategy by introducing a new metric, namely, threat factor. Then,we obtain the optimal defense strategy by proving the existence of the saddle point of the proposed model. Moreover, this defense strategy is scale-free such that it can conquer a large number of OFAs in a decentralized way. Finally, we conduct extensive simulations to show that the proposed approach is effective. | FENG Guangsheng LIN Junyu ZHAO Qian WANG Huiqiang LYU Hongwu ZHAO Xiaoyu HAN Jizhong LI Bingyang | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2018,27,4: | 2
Spatiotemporal variation and driving factors of water yield services on the Qingzang Plateau显示文摘Water resources are a basic need for social sustainable development and human existence. As an important national strategy for water resources security, spatial and temporal patterns and driving mechanisms of water yield ecosystem services on the Qingzang Plateau(QP)are critical for water resources management, optimal water allocation and the improvement of ecological water protection efficiency. However, only a few relevant studies are currently available. In this study,we simulated the water yield(WY)of the QP over 34 years, from 1982 to 2015,using the InVEST model and analyzed the spatiotemporal dynamic relationships between WY and climate change as well as between WY and vegetation change, using geographically weighted regression(GWR)models. The results showed that:1)from 1982 to 2015,the WY of the QP increased at an average rate of 3.8 mm/yr;2)WY presented a reduced spatial pattern from southeast to northwest;and 3)the WY driving factors have individual and spatial differences. In terms of the area percentage in promoting WY when analyzing each driving factor,precipitation(99.8%)and air pressure(53.3%)played the major roles in promoting WY,while temperature(71.9%),wind speed(57.2%),net primary productivity(87.2%),radiation(68.3%)and lake(87.7%)played negative roles. The areas where WY are dominated by temperature are the largest(41.1%),and followed by areas dominated by pressure(19.7%)and precipitation(18.5%).The results of this study provide scientific support for formulating regional water resources policy, social and economic development planning and other macro decisions for the QP. | Xiaofeng Wang Bingyang Chu Xiaoming Feng Yuehao Li Bojie Fu Shirong Liu Jiming Jin | 2021 | Geography and Sustainability2021,2,1: | 1
Synthesis of N-Alkane Mixture Microcapsule and Its Application in Low-Temperature Protective Fabric显示文摘We investigated synthesis and characterization of melamine-urea-formaldehyde(MUF) microcapsules containing n-alkane mixture as phase change core material for thermal energy storage and low-temperature protection. The phase change microcapsules(microPCMs) were prepared by an in situ polymerization using sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as emulsifiers. Surface morphology, particle size, chemical structure, and thermal properties of microPCMs were, respectively, characterized by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA). Low-temperature resistance performances were measured at-15,-30,-45, and-60 ℃ after microPCMs were coated on a cotton fabric by foaming technology. The results showed that spherical microPCMs had 4.4 μm diameter and 100 nm wall thickness. The melting and freezing temperatures and the latent heats of the microPCMs were determined as 28.9 and 29.6 ℃ as well as 110.0 and 115.7 J/g, respectively. Encapsulation of n-alkane mixture achieved 84.9 %. TGA analysis indicated that the microPCMs had good chemical stability below 250 ℃. The results showed that the microencapsulated n-alkane mixture had good energy storage potential. After the addition of 10 % microPCMs, low-temperature resistance duration was prolonged by 126.9%, 145.5%, 128.6%, and 87.5% in environment of-15,-30,-45 and-60 ℃, respectively as compared to pure fabric. Based on the results, phase change microcapsule plays an effective role in lowtemperature protection field for the human body. | 陈旭 王瑞 LI Tingting WU Bingyang LIU Xing | 2017 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2017,32,3: | 0
Roles of effective stabilizers in improving oral bioavailability of naringenin nanocrystals:Maintenance of supersaturation generated upon dissolution by inhibition of drug dimerization显示文摘Nanocrystals(NCs),a colloidal dispersion system formulated with stabilizers, have attracted widespread interest due to their ability to effectively improve the oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. The stabilizer plays a key role because it can affect the physical stability and even the oral bioavailability of NCs.However, how stabilizers affect the bioavailability of NCs remains unknown. In this study,F68,F127,HPMC,and PVP were each used as a stabilizer to formulate naringenin NCs.The NCs formulated with PVP exhibited excellent release behaviors, cellular uptake, permeability, oral bioavailability, and anti-inflammatory effects. The underlying mechanism is that PVP effectively inhibits the formation of naringenin dimer, which in turn improves the physical stability of the supersaturated solution generated when NC is dissolved. This finding provides insights into the effects of stabilizers on the in vivo performances of NCs and supplies valuable knowledge for the development of poorly water-soluble drugs. | Guangshuai Zhang Haishan Guan Jianfeng Li Mo Li Xiaofan Sui Baocheng Tian Huiming Dong Bingyang Liu Zhonggui He Ning Li Mingming Zhao Qiang Fu | 2022 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2022,17,5: | 0
Rendering discrete participating media using geometrical optics approximation显示文摘We consider the scattering of light in participating media composed of sparsely and randomly distributed discrete particles. The particle size is expected to range from the scale of the wavelength to several orders of magnitude greater, resulting in an appearance with distinct graininess as opposed to the smooth appearance of continuous media. One fundamental issue in the physically-based synthesis of such appearance is to determine the necessary optical properties in every local region.Since these properties vary spatially,we resort to geometrical optics approximation(GOA),a highly efficient alternative to rigorous Lorenz–Mie theory,to quantitatively represent the scattering of a single particle. This enables us to quickly compute bulk optical properties for any particle size distribution. We then use a practical Monte Carlo rendering solution to solve energy transfer in the discrete participating media. Our proposed framework is the first to simulate a wide range of discrete participating media with different levels of graininess, converging to the continuous media case as the particle concentration increases. | Jie Guo Bingyang Hu Yanjun Chen Yuanqi Li Yanwen Guo Ling-Qi Yan | 2022 | Computational Visual Media2022,8,3: | 0
Comparison of modified injection molding and conventional machining in biodegradable behavior of perforated cannulated magnesium hip stents显示文摘In this study, perforated cannulated magnesium(Mg)hip stents were fabricated via modified Mg injection molding and conventional machining, respectively.Additionally, the stent canal was filled with paraffin to simulate injection of biomaterials. The microstructure, mechanical performance, corrosion behavior, and biocompatibility were comparably studied.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)showed higher affinity of interstitial element such as oxygen and carbon as consequences of routine molding process. After immersion in SBF,machining stents showed reduced degradation rate and increased deposition of calcium phosphate compared to molding stents.Corrosion resistance was improved via paraffin-filling.Consistently,the hemolysis and in vitro osteoblast cell culture models showed favourable biocompatibility in machining stents compared to molding ones, which was improved by paraffin-filling treatment as well. These results implied that the feasibility of the prepared machining stents as the potential in vivo orthopaedic application where slower degradation is required, which could be enhanced by designing canal-filling injection of biomaterials as well. | Haiyue Zu Kelvin Chau Temitope Olumide Olugbade Lulu Pan Chris Halling Dreyer Dick Ho-Kiu Chow Le Huang Lizhen Zheng Wenxue Tong Xu Li Ziyi Chen Xuan He Ri Zhang Jie Mi Ye Li Bingyang Dai Jiali Wang Jiankun Xu Kevin Liu Jian Lu Ling Qin | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,4: | 0
High formability Mg-Zn-Gd wire facilitates ACL reconstruction via its swift degradation to accelerate intra-tunnel endochondral ossification显示文摘After reconstructing the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL),unsatisfactory bone tendon interface healing may often induce tunnel enlargement at the early healing stage. With good biological features and high formability,Magnesium-Zinc-Gadolinium(ZG21)wires are developed to bunch the tendon graft for matching the bone tunnel during transplantation.Microstructure, tensile strength, degradation, and cytotoxicity of ZG21 wire are evaluated. The rabbit model is used for assessing the biological effects of ZG21 wire by Micro-CT,histology,and mechanical test. The SEM/EDS,immunochemistry,and in vitro assessments are performed to investigate the underlying mechanism.Material tests demonstrate the high formability of ZG21 wire as surgical suture.Micro-CT shows ZG21 wire degradation accelerates tunnel bone formation, and histologically with earlier and more fibrocartilage regeneration at the healing interface. The mechanical test shows higher ultimate load in the ZG21 group. The SEM/EDS presents ZG21 wire degradation triggered calcium phosphate(Ca-P)deposition.IHC results demonstrate upregulation of Wnt3a,BMP2,and VEGF at the early phase and TGFβ3 and Type II collagen at the late phase of healing. In vitro tests also confirmed the Ca-P in the metal extract could elevate the expression of Wnt3a,βcatenin,ocn and opn to stimulate osteogenesis.Ex vivo tests of clinical samples indicated suturing with ZG21 wire did not weaken the ultimate loading of human tendon tissue. In conclusion, the ZG21 wire is feasible for tendon graft bunching. Its degradation products accelerated intra-tunnel endochondral ossification at the early healing stage and therefore enhanced bone-tendon interface healing in ACL reconstruction. | Xuan He Ye Li Hongwei Miao Jiankun Xu Michael Tim-yun Ong Chenmin Wang Lizhen Zheng Jiali Wang Le Huang Haiyue Zu Zhi Yao Jie Mi Bingyang Dai Xu Li Patrick Shu-hang Yung Guangyin Yuan Ling Qin | 2024 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2024,12,1: | 0
Study on Fiscal Sustainability and Fiscal Response to Epidemic显示文摘China is currently at an important historical juncture. The realization of a series of economic and social goals requires more proactive and effective fiscal policies, but the contradiction between fiscal revenue and expenditure has become more prominent under the impact of the COVID−19 outbreak, and the fiscal system is facing huge challenges. The paper re-summarizes the fiscal function and the direction of fiscal policy response to the impact of the epidemic.By estimating the impact of the epidemic on the fiscal defi cit rate and assessing the sustainability of China’s fi nances,we believe that the epidemic may lead to a more severe fiscal situation in China, but fiscal sustainability is strong.China’s fi nance must adopt a“two-way”strategy that balances economic and social goals with fiscal sustainability. To this end, proactive fiscal policies can work in two ways:fi rst, increasing income sources, appropriately increasing the deficit rate and special debt;and second, improving quality and enhancing efficiency, making up for shortcomings and expanding domestic demand. At the same time,we must turn the crisis into an opportunity to promote the reform of the fiscal system, including establishing a medium-term budget framework, promoting cooperation between the government and society in public utilities, rationally positioning the tax function and reforming the tax system, and implementing national pooling of social security system. | Bingyang Lyu Zhao Li | 2020 | China Finance and Economic Review2020,9,4: | 0
Optimal Overbooking Mechanism in Data Plan Sharing显示文摘For mobile devices users, the inconvenience caused by the fixed data plans becomes a popular issue. With the help of personal hotspot (pH), however, the smartphone users can share network connection with other users nearby. In this paper a data plan sharing platform with reservation mechanism is proposed. The users on this platform can sell their surplus data plan traffic to make profit. A Markov decision process model was formulated and analyzed for data plan sharing platform revenue management through overbooking mechanism. The results of experiment and simulation show that the platform revenue has a considerable growth using this model. | Yaxin Zhao Guangsheng Feng Bingyang Li Chengbo Wang Haibin Lv | 2019 | 国际计算机前沿大会会议论文集2019,,1: | 0
