1Magnetic resonance imaging in breast cancer:A literature review and future perspectives显示文摘Early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer are essential for successful treatment. Currently mammography and ultrasound are the basic imaging techniques for the detection and localization of breast tumors. The low sensitivity and specificity of these imaging tools resulted in a demand for new imaging modalities and breast magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) has become increasingly important in the detection and delineation of breast cancer in daily practice. However, the clinical benefits of the use of pre-operative MRI in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer is still a matter of debate. The main additional diagnostic value of MRI relies on specific situations such as detecting multifocal, multicentric or contralateral disease unrecognized on conventional assessment(particularly in patients diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma), assessing the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, detection of cancer in dense breast tissue, recognition of an occult primary breast cancer in patients presenting with cancer metastasis in axillary lymph nodes, among others. Nevertheless, the development of new MRI technolo-gies such as diffusion-weighted imaging, proton spectroscopy and higher field strength 7.0 T imaging offer a new perspective in providing additional information in breast abnormalities. 2Role of hepatocyte nuclear factor 4-alpha in gastrointestinal and liver diseases显示文摘Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4-alpha(HNF4α)is a highly conserved member of nuclear receptor superfamily of ligand-dependent transcription factors that is expressed in liver and gastrointestinal organs(pancreas,stomach,and intestine).In liver,HNF4αis best known for its role as a master regulator of liver-specific gene expression and essential for adult and fetal liver function.Dysregulation of HNF4αexpression has been associated with many human diseases such as ulcerative colitis,colon cancer,maturity-onset diabetes of the young,liver cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma.However,the precise role of HNF4αin the etiology of these human pathogenesis is not well understood.Limited information is known about the role of HNF4αisoforms in liver and gastrointestinal disease progression.There is,therefore,a critical need to know how disruption of the expression of these isoforms may impact on disease progression and phenotypes.In this review,we will update our current understanding on the role of HNF4αin human liver and gastrointestinal diseases.We further provide additional information on possible use of HNF4αas a target for potential therapeutic approaches.Matthew M Yeh Dustin E Bosch Sayed S Daoud 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,30:5

7Leaves of Field-Grown Mastic Trees Suffer Oxidative Stress at the Two Extremes of their Lifespan显示文摘Leaf senescence is a complex phenomenon occurring in all plant species, but it is still poorly understood in plants grown in Mediterranean field conditions and well-adapted to harsh climatic conditions. To better understand the physiological processes underlying leaf senescence in mastic trees (Pistacia lentiscus L.), we evaluated leaf growth, water and N content, photosystem II (PSII) photochemistry, lipid peroxidation and levels of photosynthetic pigments, antioxidants, abscisic acid, and salicylic acid and jasmonic acid during the complete leaf lifespan, from early expansion to late senescence in relation to natural climatic conditions in the field. While mature leaves suffered from water and N deficit during late spring and summer, both young (emerging) and old (senescing) leaves were most sensitive to photo-oxidative stress, as indicated by reductions in the F v/F m ratio and enhanced lipid peroxidation during late autumn and winter. Reductions in the F v/F m ratio were associated with low α-tocopherol (vitamin E) levels, while very old, senescing leaves additionally showed severe anthocyanin losses. We have concluded that both young (emerging) and old (senescing) leaves suffer oxidative stress in mastic trees, which may be linked in part to suboptimal temperatures during late autumn and winter as well as to low vitamin E levels.Marta Juvany Maren Müller Sergi Munn-Bosch 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,8:2
