| 1 | Latest Progress of the Chinese Meteorological Satellite Program and Core Data Processing Technologies显示文摘In this paper,the latest progress,major achievements and future plans of Chinese meteorological satellites and the core data processing techniques are discussed.First,the latest three FengYun(FY)meteorological satellites(FY-2H,FY-3D,and FY-4A)and their primary objectives are introduced Second,the core image navigation techniques and accuracies of the FY meteorological satellites are elaborated,including the latest geostationary(FY-2/4)and polar-orbit(FY-3)satellites.Third,the radiometric calibration techniques and accuracies of reflective solar bands,thermal infrared bands,and passive microwave bands for FY meteorological satellites are discussed.It also illustrates the latest progress of real-time calibration with the onboard calibration system and validation with different methods,including the vicarious China radiance calibration site calibration,pseudo invariant calibration site calibration,deep convective clouds calibration,and lunar calibration.Fourth,recent progress of meteorological satellite data assimilation applications and quantitative science produce are summarized at length.The main progress is in meteorological satellite data assimilation by using microwave and hyper-spectral infrared sensors in global and regional numerical weather prediction models.Lastly,the latest progress in radiative transfer,absorption and scattering calculations for satellite remote sensing is summarized,and some important research using a new radiative transfer model are illustrated. | Peng ZHANG Qifeng LU Xiuqing HU Songyan GU Lei YANG Min MIN Lin CHEN Na XU Ling Sun Wenguang BAI Gang MA Di XIAN | 2019 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2019,36,9: | 26 |
| 2 | Temporal and spatial distribution of tropospheric CO_2 over China based on satellite observations显示文摘Mid-troposphere CO2 data retrieved by the AIRS(atmospheric infrared sounder) were validated with five ground-based stations and aircraft measurements in the Northern Hemisphere.AIRS CO2 products show good agreement with ground and aircraft observations.The data had a monthly average accuracy better than 3 ppmv.In this study,the spatial and temporal distribution of mid-troposphere CO2 from January 2003 to December 2008 was analyzed based on this satellite product.The average concentration of atmospheric CO2 was higher in the Northern Hemisphere than in the Southern Hemisphere.The yearly average results show a gradual increase from 2003 to 2008.In China,the annual growth rate was about 2 ppmv/a,similar to the United States,Europe,Australia and India,but was slightly lower than Canada and Russia.Mid-troposphere CO2 concentrations were higher over northern China than over southern areas,due to differences in natural conditions and industrial layout.There were four centers of high CO2 concentration between 35° and 45°N over China,with low concentrations over Yunnan Province.There was a significant seasonal CO2 variation with peak concentration in spring and the lowest concentration in autumn. | BAI WenGuang ZHANG XingYing ZHANG Peng | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,31: | 13 |
| 3 | Spatiotemporal variations in mid-upper tropospheric methane over China from satellite observations显示文摘Spaceborne measurements by the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) on the EOS/Aqua satellite provide a global view of methane (CH 4 ) distribution in the mid-upper troposphere (MUT-CH 4 ). The focus of this study is to analyze the spatiotemporal varia- tions in MUT-CH 4 over China from 2003 to 2008. Validation of AIRS CH 4 products versus Fourier transform infrared profiles demonstrates that its RMS error is mostly less than 1.5%. A typical atmospheric methane profile is found that shows how concentrations decrease as height increases because of surface emissions. We found that an important feature in the seasonal variation in CH 4 is the two peaks that exist in summer and winter in most parts of China, which is also observed in in-situ measurements at Mt. Waliguan, Qinghai Province, China (36.2879°N 100.8964°E, 3810 m). Also, in the summer, only one peak existed in western and southern China since there are no more significant anthropogenic sources in winter than at any other time of the year. Further analysis of the deseasonalized time-series of AIRS CH 4 in three fixed pressure layers of AIRS from 2003 to 2008 indicates that CH 4 in the Northern Hemisphere has increased abruptly since 2007, with no significant increase occurring before 2007. The increase in China is generally more significant than in other areas around the world, which again correlates with in-situ measurements at Mt. | 4 | A model for accurately calculating hyper-spectral, middle-shortwave infrared radiative transfer for remote sensing显示文摘Although the calculation of radiative transfer in the middle-shortwave infrared band is important in the field of optical remote sensing, studies in this area of research are rare in China. Both solar reflection and atmospheric emission should be considered when calculating radiative transfer in the middle-shortwave infrared band. This paper presents a new radiative transfer model based on the doubling and adding method. The new model uses approximate calculations of direct solar reflection,multiple scattering, and thermal emissions for a finitely thin atmospheric layer and considers both the solar and thermal sources of radiation. To verify its accuracy, the calculation results produced by the model for four typical scenarios(single layer at night,multi-layer aerosols, double-layer with ice and water clouds, and multi-layer with clouds and aerosols) were compared with those of the DISORT model. With the exception of a few channels, the absolute deviation between the two models was less than2×10^(-6) K. For the same calculation, the computation speed of the new model was approximately two to three times faster than that of the DISORT model. Sensitivity studies were performed to evaluate the error resulting from using simplified calculation methods in the new model. The results obtained in this study indicated that atmospheric thermal emission made a significant contribution to the measured radiance in the strong-absorption band(2230–2400 cm^(-1)), whereas solar radiation could be neglected in this region. However, neglecting solar radiation in the window region(2400–2580 cm^(-1)) introduced error on the order of dozens of K. Employing the average-layer temperature method simplified the calculation of thermal radiation but caused a larger error in the strong-absorption band than in the window region. In the doubling and adding method, the calculation error decreased as the value used for minimum optical thickness decreased. Under the condition of satisfying the requirement of calculation precision, we can consider using the layer-average temperature radiation method and selecting a relative larger minimum optical thickness value to improve the calculation efficiency. | 5 | Enhancement of transfection efficiency for HeLa cells via incorporating arginine moiety into chitosan显示文摘Arginine-rich peptides have attracted considerable attention due to their distinct internalization mechanism. It was reported that arginine and guanidino moieties were able to translocate through cell membranes and played a critical role in the process of membrane permeation. In this work, arginine was conjugated to the backbone of chitosan to form a novel chitosan derivative, arginine modified chitosan (Arg-CS). Arg-CS/DNA complexes were prepared according to the method of coacervation process. The physicochemical properties of Arg-CS and Arg-CS/DNA complexes were characterized and the transfection activity and efficiency mediated by Arg-CS/DNA complexes were investigated taking HeLa cells as target cells. Arg-CS was characterized by FTIR and 13C NMR. Arg-CS/DNA polye- lectrolyte complexes were investigated by agarose gel retardation, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results revealed that the Arg-CS/DNA complexes started to form at N/P ratio of 2:1, and the size of particles varied from 100 to 180 nm. The cytotoxicity of Arg-CS and their complexes with plasmid DNA were determined by MTT assay for HeLa cells, and the results suggested that Arg-CS/DNA complexes were slightly less toxic than Arg-CS. Moreover, the derivative alone and their complexes showed significantly lower toxicity than PEI and PEI/DNA complexes, respectively. Taking HeLa cells as target cells and using pGL3-control as reporter gene, the luciferase expression mediated by Arg-CS was greatly enhanced to about 100 folds compared with the luciferase expression mediated by chitosan at different pH media. | 7 | Validation of Column-Averaged Dry-Air Mole Fraction of CO_2 Retrieved from OCO-2 Using Ground-Based FTS Measurements显示文摘In order to correctly use the column-averaged atmospheric CO_2 dry-air mole fraction(XCO_2) data in the CO_2 flux studies, XCO_2 measurements retrieved from the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2(OCO-2) in 2015 were compared with those obtained from the global ground-based high-resolution Fourier Transform Spectrometer(FTS) participating in the Total Carbon Column Observing Network(TCCON). The XCO_2 retrieved from three observing modes adopted by OCO-2, i.e., nadir, target, and glint, were separately validated by the FTS measurements at up to eight TCCON stations located in different areas. These comparisons show that OCO-2 glint mode yields the best qualitative estimations of CO_2 concentration among the three operational approaches. The overall results regarding the glint mode show no obvious systematic biases. These facts may indicate that the glint concept is appropriate for not only oceans but also land regions. Negative systematic biases in nadir and target modes have been found at most TCCON sites. The standard deviations of XCO_2 retrieved from target and nadir modes within the observation period are similar, and larger than those from glint mode. We also used the FTS site in Beijing, China, to assess the OCO-2 XCO_2 in 2016. This site is located in a typical urban area, which has been absent in previous studies. Overall, OCO-2 XCO_2 agrees well with that from FTS at this site. | 8 | Alternatively spliced BobCAL transcripts alter curd morphotypes in a collection of Chinese cauliflower accessions显示文摘The curd of cauliflower(Brassica oleracea L.var.botrytis)is a modified inflorescence that is consumed as a vegetable.Curd formation is proposed to be due to a mutation in the BobCAULIFLOWER(BobCAL)gene,but the genetic relationship between BobCAL variation and curd morphotypes remains obscure.To address this question,we collected and classified a collection of 78 cauliflower accessions into four subpopulations according to curd surface features:smooth,coarse,granular,and hairy curd morphotypes.Through the cDNA sequencing of BobCAL alleles,we showed that smooth and coarse accessions characterized by inflorescence meristem arrest presented a strong association with the 451T SNP(BobCAL_T),whereas granular and hairy accessions marked with floral organ arrest presented an association with 451G(BobCAL_G).Interestingly,all BobCAL alleles were alternatively spliced,resulting in a total of four alternative splice(AS)variants due to the retention of the fourth and/or seventh introns.Among accessions with BobCAL_G alleles,the total expression of all these AS variants in granular plants was almost equal to that in hairy plants;however,the expression of the individual AS variants encoding intact proteins relative to those encoding truncated proteins differed.Hairy accessions showed relatively high expression of the individual variants encoding intact proteins,whereas granular accessions displayed relatively low expression.In smooth cauliflower,the overexpression of the BobCAL_Ga variant caused an alteration in the curd morphotype from smooth to hairy,concurrent with an increase in the expression levels of downstream floral identity genes.These results reveal that alternative splicing of BobCAL transcripts is involved in the determination of cauliflower curd morphotypes. | Wenguang Cao Biting Cao Xuan Wang Jinjuan Bai Yong-Zhen Xu Jianjun Zhao Xiaorong Li Yuke He Shengwu Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |
| 9 | Jacobian matrix for near-infrared remote sensing based on vector radiative transfer model显示文摘Due to the polarization effects of the Earth’s surface reflection and atmospheric particles’scattering,high-precision retrieval of atmospheric parameters from near-infrared satellite data requires accurate vector atmospheric radiative transfer simulations.This paper presents a near-infrared vector radiative transfer model based on the doubling and adding method.This new model utilizes approximate calculations of the atmospheric transmittance,reflection,and solar scattering radiance for a finitely thin atmospheric layer.To verify its accuracy,the results for four typical scenarios(single molecular layer with Rayleigh scattering,single aerosol layer scattering,multi-layer Rayleigh scattering,and true atmospheric with multi-layer molecular absorption,Rayleigh and aerosol scattering)were compared with benchmarks from a well-known model.The comparison revealed an excellent agreement between the results and the reference data,with accuracy within a few thousandths.Besides,to fulfill the retrieval algorithm,a numerical differentiation-based Jacobian calculation method is developed for the atmospheric and surface parameters.This is coupled with the adding and doubling process for the radiative transfer calculation.The Jacobian matrix produced by the new algorithm is evaluated by comparison with that from the perturbation method.The relative Jacobian matrix deviations between the two methods are within a few thousandths for carbon dioxide and less than 1.0×10-3%for aerosol optical depth.The two methods are consistent for surface albedo,with a deviation below 2.03×10-4%.All validation results suggest that the accuracy of the proposed radiative transfer model is suitable for inversion applications.This model exhibits the potential for simulating near-infrared measurements of greenhouse gas monitoring instruments. | Wenguang BAI Peng ZHANG Wenjian ZHANG Jun LI Gang MA Chengli QI Hui LIU | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,9: | 1 |

| 12 | Geochemical characteristics of produced fluids from CBM wells and their indicative significance for gas accumulation in Daning-Jixian block,Ordos Basin显示文摘The Daning-Jixian block,the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin,is one of the most potential areas for CO_(2)geological storage,enhanced coalbed methane recovery(ECBM)exploration and production in China in recent decades.The ionic composition and total dissolved solids(TDS)of the produced water,coal organic matter maturity,molecular composition and carbon isotope characteristics of the produced gas were utilized to analyze the hydrogeological condition,CBM generation and migration characteristics in this area.The CBM enrichment patterns and the geological impacts on gas well production characteristics were revealed.The optimal area for CBM development and CO_(2)geological storage in the study area were also proposed.Dominated by the Xueguan reverse fault zone,the hydraulic unit in this area can be divided into two parts(i.e.,the recharge-runoff zone in the east and the weak runoff-stagnation zone in the west).The thermogenic gas is dominating CBM genesis in this area.Secondary biogenic gas replenishment is only distributed in the eastern margin area,where theδ13C1 value is less than the thermal simulation results as an influence of hydrodynamic fractionation.Finally,two models of CBM formation and accumulation were proposed,1)thermogenic CBM migrated by hydrodynamic and resorbed for preservation at impermeable fault boundaries;2)thermogenic CBM trapped by fault and accumulated by hydrodynamic in slope zone.The gas production performance,generally increased from east to west,is mainly dominated by hydrogeological conditions.Generally,the west side of the fault zone is the enrichment and high-yield area for ECBM development and CO_(2)geological storage in the study area. | Taotao YAN Chao YANG Shuai ZHENG Yadong BAI Wei CHEN Yanfei LIU Wenguang TIAN Shasha SUN Shangwen JIN Jiahang WANG Zhenxing LIU Huifang YAO | 2023 | Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,3: | 0 |
