1Predictive value and main determinants of abnormal features of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:The major issue with intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is whether its diagnostic accuracy for common bile duct (CBD) stones matches that of other diagnostic procedures,and thus,whether it will become a routine diagnostic procedure.The current study aimed to address the main determinants of CBD stone diagnosis in IOC among an Iranian population.METHODS:In a retrospective review database-based study conducted in Taleghani Hospital in Tehran between 2006 and 2008,baseline data and perioperative information of 2060 patients (male to female ratio 542:1518,mean age 53.7 years) who were candidates for cholecystectomy and underwent concomitant IOC for confirming CBD stones were reviewed.The predictive power of this procedure for diagnosis of abnormal biliary ducts with the focus on biliary stones was determined.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity following cholecystectomy in the study population were 0.6% and 2.6%,respectively.Both early mortality and morbidity due to cholecystectomy were higher in male than female.The prevalence of CBD stones in IOC was 3.4% (5.2% in male and 2.8% in female,P=0.008).Among those without gallstones,8.7% had CBD stones and only 3.1% had concomitant gallstones and CBD stones.The main predictors of stone appearance as an abnormal feature of IOC during cholecystectomy were:advanced age (OR=1.022,P=0.001),male gender (OR=1.498,P=0.050),history of abdominal surgery (OR=1.543,P=0.040) and preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (OR=5.400,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:IOC is a safe and accurate method for the assessment of bile duct anatomy and stones.Therefore,the routine use of IOC within cholecystectomy seems reasonable and is recommended.Shahram Yousefpour Azary Heshmat Kalbasi Ali Setayesh Mirhadi Mousavi Asad Hashemi Mahsa Khodadoostan Mohammad Reza Zali Amir Houshang Mohammad Alizadeh 2011Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,3:11
2Stir casting process for manufacture of Al-SiC composites显示文摘Stir casting is an economical process for the fabrication of aluminum matrix composites.There are many parameters in this process,which affect the final microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites.In this study,micron-sized SiC particles were used as reinforcement to fabricate Al-3 wt% SiC composites at two casting temperatures(680 and 850 ℃) and stirring periods(2 and 6 min).Factors of reaction at matrix/ceramic interface,porosity,ceramic incorporation,and agglomeration of the particles were evaluated by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and high-resolution transition electron microscope(HRTEM) studies.From microstructural characterizations,it is concluded that the shorter stirring period is required for ceramic incorporation to achieve metal/ceramic bonding at the interface.The higher stirring temperature(850 ℃) also leads to improved ceramic incorporation.In some cases,shrinkage porosity and intensive formation of Al_4C_3 at the metal/ceramic interface are also observed.Finally,the mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated,and their relation with the corresponding microstructure and processing parameters of the composites was discussed.Shahin Soltani Rasoul Azari Khosroshahi Reza Taherzadeh Mousavian Zheng-Yi Jiang Alireza Fadavi Boostani Dermot Brabazon 2017Rare Metals2017,36,7:7
325-gauge transconjunctival diagnostic vitrectomy in suspected cases of intraocular lymphoma: a case series and review of the literature显示文摘AIM:To report the cytology results of 25-gauge transconjunctival(25G-TSV)diagnostic vitrectomy in cases suspicious for intraocular lymphoma(IOL),and compare the results to those reported in the literature.METHODS:Clinical and cytopathological records of 18vitreous biopsy specimens obtained via 25G-TSV diagnostic vitrectomy in 12 patients suspicious for IOL were reviewed retrospectively.A review of the literature in regards to the diagnostic yields of vitreous specimens obtained via 25-gauge and 20-gauge diagnostic vitrectomy in suspected cases of IOL was performed.RESULTS:Eighteen eyes from 12 patients with clinical suspicion of IOL underwent diagnostic 25G-TSV.The cytopathological investigations demonstrated IOL in 15eyes(83.3%).Vitreous analysis was non-diagnostic in 3eyes(16.7%).CONCLUSION:Twenty-five-gauge diagnostic vitrectomy yields adequate sample for cytological evaluation of the vitreous in cases suspicious for IOL.The diagnostic results of the 25G-TSV in the current study are superior to those reported for 20-gauge vitrectomy but equivalent to those reported for 25G-TSV in the published literature.Mozhgan Rezaei Kanavi Masoud Soheilian Sayed Bagher Hosseini Amir A. 4An Experimental Study on Nanofluids Convective Heat Transfer Through a Straight Tube under Constant Heat Flux显示文摘In this work, the laminar convective heat transfer performance and the pressure drop of water-based nanofluids containing Al2O3, TiO2 and SiO2 nanoparticles flowing through a straight circular tube were experimentally investigated. The experimental results showed that addition of small amounts of nano-sized Al2O3 and TiO2 particles to de-ionized water increased heat transfer coefficients considerably, while the SiO2 nanofluids showed the opposite behavior attracting the authors' interests. 5Carbothermic Reduction of Zinc Oxide Concentrate by Microwave显示文摘Industrial application of microwave, as a heating source for material processing, was reviewed. The feasibility ofcarbothermic reduction of zinc oxide concentrate, as well as the effect of operating parameters was investigated,using a home style microwave oven at 2.45 GHz. Zinc oxide concentrate does not effectively absorb microwaveenergy, while any source of carbon, which is used as the reduction agent, absorbs microwave energy very well. In thisrespect coke breeze was found to be the best, and thus, coke was used both as the reducing agent and the absorbentof microwave energy. It was also found that any increase in the carbon content and size, increases the reductionrate. Increasing the microwave power and the size of the sample could also increase the reduction rate. 6Empirical model to predict mass gain of cobalt electroless deposition on ceramic particles using response surface methodology显示文摘This investigation was undertaken to predict the mass gain(MG) of cobalt electroless deposition(ED)on ceramic SiC particles.Response surface methodology(RSM) based on a full factorial design with three ED parameters and 30 runs was used to conduct the experiments and to establish a mathematical model by means of Design-Expert software.Three ED parameters considered were pH,bath temperature and ceramic particle morphology.Analysis of variance was applied to validate the predicted model.The results of confirmation analysis by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) show that the developed models are reasonably accurate.The pH is the most effective parameter for the MG.Also,the highest mass gain is obtained for the lowest pH,highest bath temperatures and heat-treated SiC particles.In addition,the developed model shows that the optimal parameters to get a maximum value of mass gain are pH,bath temperature and ceramic particle state of 8,70℃ and heat treatment,respectively.Akbar Heidarzadeh Reza Taherzadeh Mousavian Rasoul Azari Khosroshahi Yalda A.Afkham Hesam Pouraliakbar 2017Rare Metals2017,36,3:3
7Spatial optimization of soil and water conservation practices using coupled SWAT model and evolutionary algorithm显示文摘Soil and water conservation practices have been extensively used in effective watershed management.The impact of each conservation practice is site specific and dependent on the implementation site in the watershed.In order to select cost effective placement of conservation practices with high impact,a large number of spatial combinations is needed to be compared.In this study,an optimization model framework is presented to find cost effective solutions for sediment yield and runoff control in the Fariman dam watershed in the Northeast of Iran.This was accomplished by integrating soil and water assessment tool(SWAT)for simulation of watershed hydrology and multi objective genetic algorithm(NSGA-II)for spatial optimization of soil and water conservation practices.The optimized solutions provided a trade-off between the two objective functions.The final Pareto-optimal shows that the impact of soil and water conservation practices on sediment yield is more than stream flow.The trade-offs between the objective functions show that the implementation of the median cost can lead to a significant decrease of 22.1%in the amount of sediment yield,and 10%in stream flow.Also,percent change achieved through median cost is very close to percent reduction with the highest cost.Results of low cost solution show that the vegetative practices are a suitable economic scenario for soil and water conservation.The introduced framework can be adapted as a suitable tool for selecting cost effective conservation practices in different regions.Farzaeh Naseri Mahmood Azari Mohammad Taghi Dastorani 2021International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,4:3
8Manufacturing of cast A356 matrix composite reinforced with nano- to micrometer-sized SiC particles显示文摘In this study, large micron-sized Si C particles were fragmented via ball-milling process in the presence of iron and nickel powders, separately, to fabricate composite powders of Fe–Si C and Ni–Si C. Continuous fracturing of brittle Si C powders leads to the formation of multi-modalsized Si C powders with size of from 50 nm to slightly higher than 10 lm after 36-h ball milling. The milled powders were then incorporated into the semisolid melt of A356 aluminum alloy to ease the incorporation of fine Si C particles by using iron and nickel as their carrier agents.The final as-cast composites were then extruded at 500 °C with a reduction ratio of 9:1. Lower-sized composite powders with slight agglomeration are obtained for the36-h milled Ni–Si C mixture compared to that of Fe–Si C powders, leading to incorporation of Si C particles into the melt with a lower size and suitable distribution for the Ni–Si C mixture. It is found that lower-sized composite particles could release the fine Si C particles into the melt more easily, while large agglomerated composite particles almost remain in its initial form, resulting in sites of stress concentration and low-strength aluminum matrix composites. 11An experimental comparison of water based alumina and silica nanofluids heat transfer in laminar flow regime显示文摘Experimental investigations were carried out to determine the convective heat transfer performance and pressure drop of Al2O3 /water and SiO2 /water nanofluids flowing through a circular tube. Measurements show that the addition of small amounts of nano-sized Al2O3 particles to the base fluid increases heat transfer coefficients considerably, while the result for the silica nanofluids contradicts with the alumina nanofluids and this leads to some interesting results. In the case of alumina nanofluids, an average increase of 16% in convective heat transfer coefficient is observed with an average penalty of 28% in pressure drop. Moreover, flow resistance increases significantly compared to the base fluid even at very low concentrations of nanofluids.
