| 1 | Study of the impact of the compaction and curing temperature on the behavior of cold bituminous recycled materials显示文摘In most countries, there is a low temperature limit to lay down hot asphalt mixes because if it is too cold, it becomes impossible to get proper compaction. For cold recycled bituminous mixture(CRM), there is little information on the effect of the low temperature on their behavior. The goal of this study is to evaluate, in laboratory, the impact of the compaction and curing temperature on the behavior of CRM. To do so, CRM containing 50%reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP) and 50% natural aggregates treated with foamed asphalt or bituminous emulsion were mixed and cured at different temperature between 0 and23℃ for up to 10 days before being tested in indirect tension. The results show that for all mixes, a cure at lower temperature means lower tensile strength, but the decrease is more noticeable for emulsion treated materials than for foamed treated mixes. The trend is not as obvious for Marshall stability results. | 2 | Yolk-Shell P3-Type K_(0.5)[Mn_(0.85)Ni_(0.1)Co_(0.05)]O_(2):A Low-Cost Cathode for Potassium-Ion Batteries显示文摘Low-cost preparation methods for cathodes with high capacity and long cycle life are crucial for commercializing potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).Presently,the charging/discharging strain that develops in the active cathode material of PIBs causes cracks in the particles,leading to a sharp capacity fade.Here,to abate the strain release and the need for an industrially relevant process,a simple low-cost co-precipitation method for synthesizing yolk-shell P3-type K_(0.5)[Mn_(0.85)Ni_(0.1)Co_(0.05)]O_(2) (YS-KMNC)was reported.As cathode material for PIBs,the YS-KMNC delivers a high reversible capacity(96 mAh g^(-1) at 20 mA g^(-1))and excellent cycle stability(80.5%retention over 400 cycles at a high current density of 200 mA g^(-1)).More importantly,a full battery assembled with the YS-KMNC cathode and a commercial graphite anode exhibits a high operating voltage(0.5-3.4 V)and an excellent cycling performance(84.2%retention for 100 cycles at 100 mA g^(-1)).Considering the low-cost,simple production process and high performance of YS-KMNC cathode,this work could pave the way for the commercial development of PIBs. | Jiaxin Hao Ke Xiong Jiang Zhou Apparao M.Rao Xianyou Wang Huan Liu Bingan Lu | 2022 | Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,1: | 2 |
| 3 | Cell-like-carbon-micro-spheres for robust potassium anode显示文摘Large-scale low-cost synthesis methods for potassium ion battery(PIB)anodes with long cycle life and high capacity have remained challenging.Here,inspired by the structure of a biological cell,biomimetic carbon cells(BCCs)were synthesized and used as PIB anodes.The protruding carbon nanotubes across the BCC wall mimicked the ion-transporting channels present in the cell membrane,and enhanced the rate performance of PIBs.In addition,the robust carbon shell of the BCC could protect its overall structure,and the open space inside the BCC could accommodate the volume changes caused by K+insertion,which greatly improved the stability of PIBs.For the first time,a stable solid electrolyte interphase layer is formed on the surface of amorphous carbon.Collectively,the unique structural characteristics of the BCCs resulted in PIBs that showed a high reversible capacity(302 m Ah g^(-1)at 100 m A g^(-1)and 248 mAh g^(-1)at500 m A g^(-1)),excellent cycle stability(reversible capacity of 226 m Ah g^(-1)after 2100 cycles and a continuous running time of more than 15 months at a current density of 100 m A g^(-1)),and an excellent rate performance(160 mAh g^(-1)at 1 A g^(-1)).This study represents a new strategy for boosting battery performance,and could pave the way for the next generation of battery-powered applications. | Hongbo Ding Jiang Zhou Apparao M.Rao Bingan Lu | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,9: | 2 |
