2Transgenic and genome-edited fruits: background, constraints, benefits, and commercial opportunities显示文摘Breeding has been used successfully for many years in the fruit industry,giving rise to most of today’s commercial fruit cultivars.More recently,new molecular breeding techniques have addressed some of the constraints of conventional breeding.However,the development and commercial introduction of such novel fruits has been slow and limited with only five genetically engineered fruits currently produced as commercial varieties—virus-resistant papaya and squash were commercialized 25 years ago,whereas insect-resistant eggplant,non-browning apple,and pink-fleshed pineapple have been approved for commercialization within the last 6 years and production continues to increase every year.Advances in molecular genetics,particularly the new wave of genome editing technologies,provide opportunities to develop new fruit cultivars more rapidly.Our review,emphasizes the socioeconomic impact of current commercial fruit cultivars developed by genetic engineering and the potential impact of genome editing on the development of improved cultivars at an accelerated rate.Maria Lobato-Gomez Seanna Hewitt Teresa Capell Paul Christou Amit Dhingra Patricia Sarai Giron-Calva 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2

4Perceived aesthetic impact of malocclusion in 16-24 year-old adults in the rural areas of India显示文摘Aim:The purpose of this study was to assess the self-perception of patients toward their dental appearance using the aesthetic component(AC)of index of orthodontic treatment need(IOTN)index and whether age and gender had any influence on it.Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the perceived esthetic impact of malocclusion in 16–24 year-old subjects selected from the rural population of Faridabad,Haryana,India.The sample was divided into two groups,older adolescents and younger adults,and the AC of the IOTN index was applied.Results:The results showed that most subjects scored themselves as having an attractive dentition with no need for orthodontic treatment(60.91%).Gender-wise differences were not found to be statistically significant in relation to the perceived needs(P=0.095),whereas age-wise differences were found to be statistically significant in relation to the perceived needs(P<0.001).Conclusion:While the age seemed to have an impact on the perceived esthetic impact of malocclusion,the gender did not seemingly influence this self-perception.Charu M.Marya Amit Rekhi Ruchi Nagpal Sukhvinder S.Oberoi Chandan Dhingra 2014Plastic and Aesthetic Research2014,1,1:0
