1Histological and biochemical alterations in early-stage lobar ischemia-reperfusion in rat liver显示文摘AIM:To investigate the structural and biochemical changes in the early stage of reperfusion in the rat livers exposed to lobar ischemia-reperfusion (IR).METHODS: The median and left lobes of the liver were subjected to 60 min ischemia followed by 5, 10, 30, 45, 60 and 120 min reperfusion. Blood samples were taken at different time intervals to test enzyme activities and biochemical alterations induced by reperfusion. At the end of each reperfusion period, the animals were killed by euthanasia and tissue samples were taken for histological examination and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Cell vacuolation, bleb formation and focal hepatitis were the most important changes occur during ischemia. While some changes including bleb formation were removed during reperfusion, other alterations including portal hepatitis, inflammation and the induction of apoptosis were seen during this stage. The occurrence of apoptosis, as demonstrated by apoptotic cells and bodies, was the most important histological change during reperfusion. The severity of apoptosis was dependent on the time of reperfusion, and by increasing the time of reperfusion,the numbers of apoptotic bodies was significantly enhanced. The amounts of lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, creatinine and urea were significantly increased in serum obtained from animals exposed to hepatic IR.CONCLUSION: Inflammation and subsequent apoptotic cell death were the most important changes in early-stage hepatic reperfusion injury, and the number of apoptotic bodies increased with time of reperfusion.Hossein Ali Arab Farhang Sasani Mohammad Hossein Rafiee Ahmad Fatemi Abbas Javaheri 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,16:16
2Tight Rock Wettability and Its Relationship to Other Petrophysical Properties: A Montney Case Study显示文摘Understanding and modelling the wettability of tight rocks is essential for designing fracturing and treatment fluids. In this paper, we measure and analyze spontaneous imbibition of water and oil into five twin core plugs drilled from the cores of a well drilled in the Montney Formation, an unconventional oil and gas play in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We characterize the samples by measuring the mineralogy using XRD(x-ray diffraction), total organic carbon content, porosity, and permeability. Interestingly, the equilibrated water uptake of the five samples is similar, while, their oil uptake increases by increasing the core porosity and permeability. We define two wettability indices for the oil phase based on the slope and equilibrium values of water and oil imbibition curves. Both indices increase by increasing porosity and permeability, with the slope affinity index showing a stronger correlation. This observation suggests that part of the pore network has a stronger affinity to oil than to water. We also observe that the two indices decrease by increasing neutron porosity and gamma ray parameters measured by wireline logging tools. 3Application of Lauryl Betaine in enhanced oil recovery: A comparative study in micromodel显示文摘Micromodel flooding is a cost-effective method to investigate enhanced oil recovery.In this study,we apply Lauryl Betaine as an amphoteric surfactant to the injected fluids into the micromodel and compare the results with conventional EOR techniques such as water flooding,solvent flooding,and microemulsion flooding.First,we determined the optimal flow rate of injected fluid into the micromodel to represent fluid flow in the formation.Next,we did water flooding with varying salinities.Next,we did solvent flooding with two different ratios of solvents.Condensate and hexane are the solvents we applied.Next,we did surfactant flooding using Lauryl Betaine.Surfactant flooding tests are conducted using different salinity and surfactant concentration(Cs).Finally,we did microemulsion flooding.The results show that surfactant flooding at high salinity using Lauryl Betaine leads to highest oil recovery among all tested EOR methods.Besides,the results indicate that addition of Lauryl Betaine to the injected brine leads to higher breakthrough time(BT).Hamidreza Yarveicy Ali Javaheri 2019Petroleum2019,5,2:1
4JMJD6 protects against isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy via inhibition of NF-κB activation by demethylating R149 of the p65 subunit显示文摘Histone modification plays an important role in pathological cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure.In this study we investigated the role of a histone arginine demethylase,Jumonji C domain-containing protein 6(JMJD6)in pathological cardiac hypertrophy.Cardiac hypertrophy was induced in rats by subcutaneous injection of isoproterenol(ISO,1.2 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1))for a week.At the end of the experiment,the rats underwent echocardiography,followed by euthanasia and heart collection.We found that JMJD6 levels were compensatorily increased in ISO-induced hypertrophic cardiac tissues,but reduced in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFrEF).Furthermore,we demonstrated that JMJD6 overexpression significantly attenuated ISO-induced hypertrophy in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes(NRCMs)evidenced by the decreased cardiomyocyte surface area and hypertrophic genes expression.Cardiac-specific JMJD6 overexpression in rats protected the hearts against ISO-induced cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis,and rescued cardiac function.Conversely,depletion of JMJD6 by single-guide RNA(sgRNA)exacerbated ISO-induced hypertrophic responses in NRCMs.We revealed that JMJD6 interacted with NF-κB p65 in cytoplasm and reduced nuclear levels of p65 under hypertrophic stimulation in vivo and in vitro.Mechanistically,JMJD6 bound to p65 and demethylated p65 at the R149 residue to inhibit the nuclear translocation of p65,thus inactivating NF-κB signaling and protecting against pathological cardiac hypertrophy.In addition,we found that JMJD6 demethylated histone H3R8,which might be a new histone substrate of JMJD6.These results suggest that JMJD6 may be a potential target for therapeutic interventions in cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure.Zhen Guo Yue-huai Hu Guo-shuai Feng Carla Valenzuela Ripoll Zhen-zhen Li Si-dong Cai Qian-qian Wang Wen-wei Luo Qian Li Li-ying Liang Zhong-kai Wu Ji-guo Zhang Ali Javaheri Lei Wang Jing Lu Pei-qing Liu 2023Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2023,44,9:0
