Prompt diagnosis and appropriate surgical treatment is crucial to achieve satisfactory functional outcomes. A conjoint bicondylar coronal split (Hoffa) fracture with complete transaction of ipsilateral patellar tendon has been reported in a 12 year old child. The injury was managed by open reduction and internal fixation and bone to ten don repair. | 2 | Free fatty acid-induced miR-22 inhibits gluconeogenesis via SIRT-1-mediated PGC-1α expression in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘Background and aims:Free fatty acids(FFAs)are one of the important regulators of the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.The FFAs are shown to modulate the metabolic status of the liver by modulating several cellular pathways in hepatocytes.Here,we elucidated the role of miR-22 in modulating FFAs-mediated gluconeogenesis.Methods:Huh7 and WRL68 cells were transfected with nonspecific miRNA,miR-22 premiRs or anti-miR-22 oligos followed by incubation with palmitic acid,oleic acid,and linoleic acid(300μM each)for 48 and 72 h after transfection.The expression of miR-22 was performed using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blots were performed for SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase.Three groups of C57BL/6 mice(6 mice per group)were fed with standard diet,choline sufficient L-amino acid defined diet or choline-deficient L-amino acid defined(CDAA)diet for 6,18,32,or 54 weeks.Triglycerides content was measured in the serum.Expression of miR-22 and the protein expression of gluconeogenic enzymes were analyzed in the tissue samples.Results:Incubation of miR-22-transfected cells with FFAs inhibited the expression of SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase,while miR-22 expression was increased.These changes were reversed when the cells were transfected with anti-miR-22 oligos.CDAA-fed mice showed the significant increase in triglycerides content and miR-22 expression,while there was an inhibition of SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase expression in CDAA-fed mice. | Ajay K.Yadav Teja Naveen Sata Daksh Verma Amrendra K.Sah Amit K.Mishra Mrinalini Md.Musa Hossain Kishor Pant Senthil K.Venugopal | 2023 | iLIVER2023,2,1: | 1 |

| 5 | Magnetic fabric and geomorphic characteristic of Neotectonic activity along strike direction of North Almora Thrust,Kumaun Lesser Himalaya,India显示文摘Structurally,the North Almora Thrust(NAT),is placed in the northern proximity of the Almora Nappe(AN)in the Kumaun Lesser Himalaya.The NAT is characterized by the presence of a zone of mylonitic rocks of basal Saryu Formation(1800±100 Ma)in the hanging wall and the metasedimentaries of Inner Lesser Himalayan rocks as the footwall block.The NAT has been dextrally offset by two estabilished maj or faults i.e.Saryu River Fault(SRF)in Saryu Valley and Dwarahat-Chaukhutia Fault(DCF)in Ramganga valley.In present study,we identified four new faults,based on field study,geomorphic landform and magnetic fabric analysis.These faults are N-S trending Pancheshwar Fault,NE-SW Rameshwer Fault,NNE-SSW trending Kosi Fault,and NNE-SSW trending Gagas Fault(GF).Our results show that the zone is bound by cross cutting relation with NAT and these fault zones are comparatively more active than other regions.Furthermore,we suggest that the steep and NW-SE orientation of magnetic foliation within the NAT zone is a result of NE-SW oriented progressive regional compression.The magnetic foliations represent the unseen internal foliations in the rocks developed due to preferred alignment of magnetic minerals and can be found through the Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility(AMS)study.Variation in the alignment of the field and magnetic foliations are developed due to superimposed brittle deformation along the faults over the pre-existing field foliations.Magnetic foliations represent the impact of last stage deformation and significant to find brittle deformation and finite strain in the rocks of the study area.The lowering of anisotropy(Pj)away from the fault zone represents distribution of strain across the NAT zone.AMS fabric confirms the presence of faults developed across the NAT zone and also explains the deformation pattern along these faults.The geomorphic anomalies and steepness changes across the NAT zone are correlated with active deformation along the NAT and associated transverse faults. | Ritu Chauhan Girish Ch Kothyari Surendra S.Bhakuni Pitamber Dutt Pant Ajay Kumar Taloor | 2022 | Geodesy and Geodynamics2022,13,3: | 0 |
| 6 | Recharge and vulnerability assessment of groundwater resources in North west India:Insights from isotope-geospatial modelling approach显示文摘Recent studies indicate dwindling groundwater quantity and quality of the largest regional aquifer system in North West India,raising concern over freshwater availability to about 182 million population residing in this region.Widespread agricultural activities have resulted severe groundwater pollution in this area,demanding a systematic vulnerability assessment for proactive measures.Conventional vulnerability assessment models encounter drawbacks due to subjectivity,complexity,data-prerequisites,and spatial-temporal constraints.This study incorporates isotopic information into a weighted-overlay framework to overcome the above-mentioned limitations and proposes a novel vulnerability assessment model.The isotope methodology provides crucial insights on groundwater recharge mechanisms(18O and 2H)and dynamics(3H)-often ignored in vulnerability assessment.Isotopic characterisation of precipitation helped in establishing Local Meteoric Water Line(LMWL)as well as inferring contrasting recharge mechanisms operating in different aquifers.Shallow aquifer(depth<60 m)showed significant evaporative signature with evaporation loss accounting up to 18.04%based on Rayleigh distillation equations.Inter-aquifer connections were apparent from Kernel Density Estimate(KDE)and isotope correlations.A weighted overlay isotope-geospatial model was developed combining 18O,3H,aquifer permeability,and water level data.The central and northern parts of study area fall under least(0.29%)and extremely(1.79%)vulnerable zones respectively,while majority of the study area fall under moderate(42.71%)and highly vulnerable zones(55.20%).Model validation was performed using groundwater NO3-concentration,which showed an overall accuracy up to 82%.Monte Carlo Simulation(MCS)was performed for sensitivity analysis and permeability was found to be the most sensitive input parameter,followed by 3H,18O,and water level.Comparing the vulnerability map with Land Use Land Cover(LULC)and population density maps helped in precisely identifying the high-risk sites,warranting a prompt attention.The model developed in this study integrates isotopic information with vulnerability assessment and resulted in model output with good accuracy,scientific basis,and widespread relevance,which highlights its crucial role in formulating proactive water resource management plans,especially in less explored data-scarce locations. | Annadasankar Roy Sitangshu Chatterjee Uday Kumar Sinha Anil Kumar Jain Hemant Mohokar Ajay Jaryal Tirumalesh Keesari Harish Jagat Pant | 2024 | Geoscience Frontiers2024,15,1: | 0 |
