THE INTERDECADAL VARIABILITY OF EAST ASIA MONSOON AND ITS EFFECT ON THE RAINFALL OVER CHINA显示文摘The interdecadal variability of the East Asia summer monsoon during 1951~1999 is analyzed by using two different East Asia monsoon indices. The results agree on the point that the East Asia monsoon has undergone an interdecadal variability in the mid-1970s. The intensity of the East Asia monsoon is weaker after this transition. Moreover the intensity and location of subtropical high that is an important component in East Asia monsoon system also shows interdecadal variation obviously. It is the interdecadal variation in atmospheric circulation that causes the drought over North China and flooding along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River after the mid-1970s. | 吕俊梅 任菊章 琚建华 | 2004 | Journal of Tropical Meteorology2004,10,1: | 56
Effects of rh BNP after PCI on non-invasive hemodynamic in acute myocardial infarction patients with left heart failure显示文摘Objective: To investigate the effects of exogenous recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide(rh BNP) after primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) on non-invasive hemodynamic in acute myocardial infarction patients with left ventricular failure. Methods: A number of 96 acute myocardial infarction patients accompanied with heart failure after PCI hospitalized in the People's Hospital of Sanya during February 2012 to October 2015 were selected. They were randomly divided into the therapy group(n = 50) and control group(n = 46). On the basis of routine treatment, patients in the therapy group were treated with intravenous rh BNP(1.5 μg/kg was intravenous injection with uniform speed of 3 min, followed by continuous infusion 0.007 5 μg/kg·min for 72 h), while the control group received conventional treatment. Bio Z-2011 non-invasive hemodynamic real-time monitoring system was used to monitor the hemodynamic parameters changes and the leves of plasma pro-BNP, serum creatinine, serum potassium, serum sodium and urine volume of each group before and after treating for 30 min, 1 h, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, 72 h. Results: Patients in the therapy group showed no effect on heart rate, while after 30 min of intravenous injection of rh BNP, CO, CI, SV, and SI increased significantly and LVET and TFC reduced at the same time, which had certain effect on blood pressure(SBP/DBP). Compared with the control group, the therapy group showed a faster and more effective improvement on haemodynamics. Conclusions: Acute myocardial infarction patients complicated with left heart failure after primary PCI can significantly improve hemodynamics by treating with rh BNP. | Xi-Min He Lin Chen Jiang-Bin Luo Xu-Xia Feng Yun-Bo Zhang Qi-Jing Chen Xiao-Li Ji Tian-Song Wang | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,8: | 52
Change of hs-CRP,sVCAM-1,NT-proBNP levels in patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension after therapy with magnesium sulfate and nifudipine显示文摘Objective:To investigate the change of the hs-CRP,sVC AM-1,NT-proBNP levels of the patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension(PIH) syndrome. Methods:A total of 200 patients with PIH were divided into mild, moderate and severe group, and 50 healthy pregnancy patients served as the control group. The serum sVCAM-1 levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,hs-CRP were detected by immunity transmission turbidity, and NT-proBNP levels were determined by the colloidal gold method.Patients were treated with magnesium sulfate and nifudipine and the contrastive analysis was performed before and after treatment. And the pathological changes in placental of PIH patients were delected by hematoxylin-eosin staining at the same time. Results:The hs-CRP,sVCAM-l,NT-proBNP levels of patients in the mild, moderate and severe PHI group were significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). The hs-CKP,sVCAM-l,NT-proBNP levels in the severe group were significantly higher than the mild group and the moderate group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The hsCRP,sVCAM-l,NT-proBNP of the moderate group were significantly higher than the mild group(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between hs-CRP,sVCAM-1,NT-proBNP expression levels and the degree of the PIH.The expression of hs-CRP,sVCAM-1,NT-proBNP levels of the moderate and the severe group were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The number of placental villi and interstitial blood vessel in the moderate and severe PIH group were significantly less than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The increased levels of serum hs-CRP,sVCAM-1, NT-proBNP may be involved in the process of vascular endothelial cell injury of the PIH,and the hs-CRP,sVCAM-1,NT-proBNP can be used as the auxiliary index for diagnosis of PIH and determination of PIH severity. | Li Wang Zhi-Qiang Liu Ying-Qian Huo Li-Juan Yao Xue-Gong Wei Yun-Fang Wang | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,11: | 46
Plasma levels of omentin-1 and visfatin in senile patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure显示文摘Objective:To investigate the alteration of plasma levels of omentin-1 and visfatin in elderly patients with coronary heart disease(CHD)and heart failure. Methods:Plasma omentin-1 and visfatin levels were measured in 90 subjects(29 stable angina pectoris(SAP)cases,30 unstable angina pectoris(UAP)cases and 31 age-and sex-matched healthy controls(age≥60 years)by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay methods.According to the New York Heart Association classification.59 CHDs were divided into three groups:functional I class,11 cases;functional II/III class,36 cases;and functional IV class,12 cases. Results:The plasma level of omentin-1in CHO patients was significantly lower than thai of the control group.Otnenlin-lin SAP group and UAP group were significantly lower compared to the control group(there was no statistical significance between UAP group and SAP group;P>0.05).The plasma level of visfatin in CHD patients was significandy higher than that of the control group.Similarly, visfatin in SAP group and UAP group were all significantly higher compared to the control group, while there was no statistical significance between UAP group, and SAP group. The plasma omentin-1 level was negatively correlated with SBP(r=-0.264,P<0.05),positively correlated with HDL-c level(r=0.271,P<0.05);the plasma visfatin level was positively correlated with TC(r=0.292,P<0.05),negatively correlated with HDL-c level(r=-0.266,P<0.05).There was a negative correlation between plasma omentin-1 and visfatin levels(r=-0.280,P<0.05).Moreover,multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that omentin-1 and visfatin levels might be affected by HDL-c level.Logistic regression analysis showed that visfatin could be an independent risk factor of CHD.Conclusions:Decreased levels of omentin-1 and increased levels of visfatin may be involved in the occurrence and development of CHD.Omentin-1 and visfatin, independently, may be protective and pro-inflammatory cytokines.Additionally, both omentin-1 and visfatin may be related to lipid metabolism.Visfatin may be an independent risk factor of CHD. | Xiu-Hua Wang Ling-Zhi Dou Can Gu Xiao-Qing Wang | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,1: | 38
Evaluation of antiviral activities of Houttuynia cordata Thunb.extract, quercetin, quercetrin and cinanserin on murine coronavirus and dengue virus infection显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the in vitro activities of the ethyl acetate(EA) fraction of Houttuynia cordata(H.cordata) Thunb.(Saururaceae) and three of its constituent flavonoids(quercetin.quercitrin and rutin) against murine coronavirus and dengue virus(DENV).Methods:The antiviral activities of various concentrations of the EA fraction of H.cordata and flavonoids were assessed using virus neutralization tests against mouse hepatitis virus(MHV) and DENV type 2(DENV-2).Cinanserin hydrochloride was also tested against MHV.The EA fraction of H.cordata was tested for acute oral toxicity in C57BL/6 mice. Results:The EA fraction of H.cordata inhibited viral infectivity up to 6 d.Cinanserin hydrochloride was able to inhibit MHV for only 2 d.The 50%inhibitory concentrations(IC_(50)) of the EA fraction of H.cordata added before the viral adsorption stage were 0.98 μg/mL for MHV and 7.50 μg/mL for DENV-2with absence of cytotoxicity. The mice fed with the EA fraction up to 2 000 mg/kg did not induce any signs of acute toxicity, with normal histological features of major organs.Certain flavonoids exhibited comparatively weaker antiviral activity, notably quercetin which could inhibit both MHV and DENV-2.This was followed by quercitrin which could inhibit DENV-2but not MHV,whereas rutin did not exert any inhibitory effect on either virus. When quercetin was combined with quercitrin, enhancement of anti-DENV-2 activity and reduced cytotoxicity were observed. However, the synergistic efficacy of the flavonoid combination was still less than that of the EA fraction. Conclusions:The compounds in H.cordata contribute to the superior antiviral efficacy of the EA fraction which lacked cytotoxicity in vitro and acute toxicity in vim.H.cordata has much potential for the development of antiviral agents against coronavirus and dengue infections. | K.H.Chiow M.C.Phoon Thomas Putti Benny K.H.Tan Vincent T.Chow | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,1: | 38
Study on prevention effect of Zishen Yutai pill combined with progesterone for threatened abortion in rats显示文摘Objective:To observe preventive and therapeutic effects and the mechanism of actions on Zishen Yutai pill combined with progesterone on threatened abortion in rats. Methods:After pregnancy,50 SPF female SD rats were selected and divided into control group, model group, progesterone group,Zishen Yutai pill group, and progesterone plus Zishen Yutai pill group(combination group),with 10 rats in each group. The rats of control group and abortion model group were lavaged with 2 mL/kg normal saline on pregnancy day 1 for continuous 10 days.Rats in Zishen Yutai pill group were given 1.575 g/kg/d of Zishen Yutai pill for intragastric administration for continuous 10 days.Rats in progesterone group were given intramuscular injection treatment of 0.1 mL/d progestin, continuous for 10 days.Rats in combination group were given injection therapy of aqueous solution of Zishen Yutai pill for continuous 10 days, and other treatments were the same as previous two groups.Abortion model were established then and live births, numbers of abortion and average rate of abortion were compared between the five groups.Peripheral blood was collected to detect the estradiol(E2) and progestational hormone(P),and obtain ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines(IL-2,INF-γ,IL-4,IL-10).Results:Significant more live births of rats were found in the control group compared with other four groups(P<0.05).The numbers of live births of the rats in abortion model group were significantly less than that of progesterone group,Zishen Yutai pill group and joint group(P<0.05).The numbers of live births of rats in joint group were significant more than that of progesterone group and Zishen Yutai pill group. The serum E2 level of P of rats in the control group, progesterone group,Zishen Yutai pill group and joint group were significant higher than that of abortion model group(P<0.05).Serum levels of E2 and P of rats in the control group, progesterone group,Zishen Yutai pill group and joint group were not significant different(P>0.05) but these levels in the control group and Zishen Yutai pill group were significant lower than that of progesterone group and joint group(P<0.05).The maternal-fetal interface IL-4/IL-2,IL-10 / IL-2 of model group were balanced deviating to Th1,while the IL-4/IL-2,IL-10/IL-2 of progesterone group,Zishen Yutai pill group and joint group were balanced deviating to Th2,and joint group' deviation was better than progesterone group and Zishen Yutai pill group(P<0.05).Conclusions:Zishen Yutai pill combined with progesterone has a significant control effect for threatened abortion, which can obviously increase contents of maternal serums E2 and P,and regulate the Thl/Th2 balance with a remarkable effect. | Yi Zhang Wei Yan Pu-Feng Ge Yan Li Qian Ye | 2016 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,6: | 32

Honey:its medicinal property and antibacterial activity显示文摘Indeed, medicinal importance of honey has been documented in the world's oldest medical literatures, and since the ancient times,it has been known to possess antimicrobial property as well as wound-healing activity. The healing property of honey is due to the fact that it offers antibacterial activity, maintains a moist wound condition, and its high viscosity helps to provide a protective barrier to prevent infection. Its immunomodulatory property is relevant to wound repair too.The antimicrobial activity in most honeys is due to the enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide. However, another kind of honey, called non-peroxide honey(viz.,manuka honey),displays significant antibacterial effects even when the hydrogen peroxide activity is blocked. Its mechanism may be related to the low pH level of honey and its high sugar content(high osmolality) that is enough to hinder the growth of microbes. The medical grade honeys have potent in vitro bactericidal activity against antibiotic-resistant bacteria causing several life-threatening infections to humans. But,there is a large variation in the antimicrobial activity of some natural honeys, which is due to spatial and temporal variation in sources of nectar. Thus, identification and characterization of the active principle(s) may provide valuable information on the quality and possible therapeutic potential of honeys(against several health disorders of humans),and hence we discussed the medicinal property of honeys with emphasis on their antibacterial activities. | Manisha Deb Mandal Shyamapada Mandal | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,2: | 26

Human cystic echinococcosis:epidemiologic, zoonotic, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects显示文摘This review represents an updated scenario on the transmission cycle, epidemiology, clinical features and pathogenicity, diagnosis and treatment, and prevention and control measures of a cestode parasite Echincoccus granulosus(E.granulosus) infection causing cystic echinococcosis (CE) in humans.Human CE is a serious life-threatening neglected zoonotic disease that occurs in both developing and developed countries, and is recognized as a major public health problem. The life cycle of E.granulosus involves a definitive host(dogs and other canids) for the adult E.granulosus that resides in the intestine, and an intermediate host(sheep and other herbivores) for the tissue-invading metacestode(larval) stage.Humans are only incidentally infected;since the completion of the life cycle of E.granulosus depends on carnivores feeding on herbivores bearing hydatid cysts with viable protoscoleces, humans represent usually the dead end for the parasite. On ingestion of E.granulosus eggs, hydatid cysts are formed mostly in liver and lungs, and occasionally in other organs of human body, which are considered as uncommon sites of localization of hydatid cysts. The diagnosis of extrahepatic echinococcal disease is more accurate today because of the availability of new imaging techniques, and the current treatments include surgery and percutaneous drainage, and chemotherapy(albendazole and mebendazole).But.the wild animals that involve in sylvatic cycle may overlap and interact with the domestic sheepdog cycle, and thus complicating the control efforts. The updated facts and phenomena regarding human and animal CE presented herein are due to the web search of SCI and non-SCI journals. | Shyamapada Mandal Manisha Deb Mandal | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,4: | 21
Combined APACH Ⅱ score and arterial blood lactate clearance rate to predict the prognosis of ARDS patients显示文摘Objective:To explore the easily applicable indicators of practical value to evaluate the prognosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Methods:Blood and biochemical tests and bloodgas analyses were performed upon entry into the ICUs,12 h,24 h,48 h and 72 h after that in 72 ARDS patients(who were admitted to the ICUs of our hospital from January 2000 to December 2009).Then APACHEⅡscores were achieved by combining relevant physiological parameters and laboratory results. Results:There was a statistical difference between the death group and survival group at different time points upon entering the ICUs in terms of APACHEⅡscore, alveolar-arterial oxygen difference and arterial blood lactate clearance rate.PaO2/FiO2 values were recorded to be statistically different between the death group and survival group 24 h,48 h and 72 h,respectively after entry into the ICUs.In addition, registered linear regression existed between APACHEⅡscore,alveolar-arterial oxygen difference or PaO2/FiO2 value and time. APACHEⅡscore 24 h and 72 h after entering ICUs predicted mortality with an area under the ROC curve(AUC) standing respectively at 0.919 and 0.9SS.Arterial blood lactate clearance rate 12 h, 24 h,48 h and 72 h after entering ICUs predicted mortality with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) at 0.918,0.918,0.909 and 0.991,respectively.Conclusions:APACHEⅡscore applied in combination with arterial blood lactate clearance rate is of clinical significance in assessing the prognosis of ARDS patients. | Wen-Hui Wu Yuan-Yuan Niu Chang-Ran Zhang Long-Bin Xiao Hui-Shao Ye De-Mao Pan Mian Zeng | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012,5,8: | 21
Hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity of a mangrove plant Lumnitzera racemosa显示文摘Objective:To identify the hepatoprotective and in vitro antioxidant activity of Lumnitzera racemosa(L.racemosa)leaf extract. Methods:Animals in Group 1 served as vehicle control,Group 2 served as liepatoloxin(CCL_4 treated)group,Group 3 served as positive control(Silyinarin)group, and Group 4,5 and 6 served as(75,150 and 300 mg/kg bw p.o.)L.raremosa leaf extract treated groups. Moreover,in vitro antioxidant DPPH,hydroxyl radical scavenging activity(HRSA),NO,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),lipid hydroperoxide(LPO)and super oxide dismutase(SOD)were also analyzed for the leaf extract. Results:The levels of the serum parameters such as serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(SCOT),serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(SGPT),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),bilirubin, cholesterol(CHL),sugar and lactate dehydrogenase(LDU)were significantly increased in CCL_4 treated rats when compared with the control group(P<0.05).But the L.racemosa leaf extract treated rats showed maximum reduction of SGOT[(210.36±19.63)IU/L],SGPT[(82.37±13.87)IU/L],ALP[(197.63±23.43)IU/L],bilurubin[(2.15±0.84)mg/dL],cholesterol[(163.83±15.63)mg/dL],sugar[(93.00±7.65)mg/dL]and LDH[(1134.00±285.00)IU/L]were observed with the high dose(300 mg/kg bw)of leaf extract treated rats.Histopathological scores showed that,no visible changes were observed with high dose(300 mg/kg bw)of leaf extract treated rats except few mild necrosis. The IC_(50)values were observed as(56.37±4.87)μg/mL,(57.68±1.98)μg/mL,(64.I5±2.90)μg/mL,(61.94±3.98)μg/mL,(94.53±1.68)μg/mL and(69.7±2.65)μg/mL for DPPH,HRSA,NO,FRAP,LPO and SOD radical scavenging activities, respectively. Conclusions:In conclusion, the hepatoprotective effect of the L.racemosa leaf extract might be due to the presence of phenolic groups, terpenoids and alkaloids and in vitro antioxidant properties. | Sundaram Ravikumar Murugesan Gnanadesigan | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,5: | 21
Relationship between expression of EGFR in gastric cancer tissue and clinicopathological features显示文摘Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor(ECFR) in gastric cancer and the clinicopalhological features and prognosis. Methods:A total of 78 paraffin specimens of gastric cancer operation were collected. The immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of ECFR in 78 cases of gastric cancer and 20 cases of adjacent normal tissue. The relationship between the high expression of ECFR and clinicopathological features was analyzed. Results:ECFR positive expression rate in the 78 cases of gastric cancer tissue was 57.7%(43/78),while ECFR was not expressed in 20 cases of adjacent normal tissue. The high ECFR expression was positively correlated with the position of gastric cancer, tumor size, cell differentiation, invasive depth, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging, yet having no obvious relation with gender or age. Conclusions:ECFR expression level in gastric cancer is closely related to the incidence and development of gastric cancer, which can provide a theoretical basis for the targeted therapy for gastric cancer with ECFR as the target. | Ming Gao Xiu-Ju Liang Zi-Sen Zhang Wang Ma Zhi-Wei Chang Ming-Zhi Zhang | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,4: | 20
