| 4 | Merging control strategies of connected and autonomous vehicles at freeway on-ramps:a comprehensive review显示文摘Purpose–On-ramp merging areas are typical bottlenecks in the freeway network since merging on-ramp vehicles may cause intensive disturbances on the mainline traffic flow and lead to various negative impacts on traffic efficiency and safety.The connected and autonomous vehicles(CAVs),with their capabilities of real-time communication and precise motion control,hold a great potential to facilitate ramp merging operation through enhanced coordination strategies.This paper aims to present a comprehensive review of the existing ramp merging strategies leveraging CAVs,focusing on the latest trends and developments in the research field.Design/methodology/approach–The review comprehensively covers 44 papers recently published in leading transportation journals.Based on the application context,control strategies are categorized into three categories:merging into sing-lane freeways with total CAVs,merging into singlane freeways with mixed traffic flows and merging into multilane freeways.Findings–Relevant literature is reviewed regarding the required technologies,control decision level,applied methods and impacts on traffic performance.More importantly,the authors identify the existing research gaps and provide insightful discussions on the potential and promising directions for future research based on the review,which facilitates further advancement in this research topic.Originality/value–Many strategies based on the communication and automation capabilities of CAVs have been developed over the past decades,devoted to facilitating the merging/lane-changing maneuvers at freeway on-ramps.Despite the significant progress made,an up-to-date review covering these latest developments is missing to the authors’best knowledge.This paper conducts a thorough review of the cooperation/coordination strategies that facilitate freeway on-ramp merging using CAVs,focusing on the latest developments in this field.Based on the review,the authors identify the existing research gaps in CAV ramp merging and discuss the potential and promising future research directions to address the gaps. | Jie Zhu Said Easa Kun Gao | 2022 | Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles2022,5,2: | 1 |

| 9 | Battery electric buses charging schedule optimization considering time-of-use electricity price显示文摘Purpose–This paper aims to optimize the charging schedule for battery electric buses(BEBs)to minimize the charging cost considering the time-ofuse electricity price.Design/methodology/approach–The BEBs charging schedule optimization problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming model.The objective is to minimize the total charging cost of the BEB fleet.The charge decision of each BEB at the end of each trip is to be determined.Two types of constraints are adopted to ensure that the charging schedule meets the operational requirements of the BEB fleet and that the number of charging piles can meet the demand of the charging schedule.Findings–This paper conducts numerical cases to validate the effect of the proposed model based on the actual timetable and charging data of a bus line.The results show that the total charge cost with the optimized charging schedule is 15.56%lower than the actual total charge cost under given conditions.The results also suggest that increasing the number of charging piles can reduce the charging cost to some extent,which can provide a reference for planning the number of charging piles.Originality/value–Considering time-of-use electricity price in the BEBs charging schedule will not only reduce the operation cost of electric transit but also make the best use of electricity resources. | Jia He Na Yan Jian Zhang Yang Yu Tao Wang | 2022 | Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles2022,5,2: | 1 |
