1An updated estimation of the risk of transmission of the novel coronavirus(2019-nCov)显示文摘The basic reproduction number of an infectious agent is the average number of infections one case can generate over the course of the infectious period,in a naïve,uninfected population.It is well-known that the estimation of this number may vary due to several methodological issues,including different assumptions and choice of parameters,utilized models,used datasets and estimation period.With the spreading of the novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV)infection,the reproduction number has been found to vary,reflecting the dynamics of transmission of the coronavirus outbreak as well as the case reporting rate.Due to significant variations in the control strategies,which have been changing over time,and thanks to the introduction of detection technologies that have been rapidly improved,enabling to shorten the time from infection/symptoms onset to diagnosis,leading to faster confirmation of the new coronavirus cases,our previous estimations on the transmission risk of the 2019-nCoV need to be revised.By using time-dependent contact and diagnose rates,we refit our previously proposed dynamics transmission model to the data available until January 29th,2020 and re-estimated the effective daily reproduction ratio that better quantifies the evolution of the interventions.We estimated when the effective daily reproduction ratio has fallen below 1 and when the epidemics will peak.Our updated findings suggest that the best measure is persistent and strict self-isolation.The epidemics will continue to grow,and can peak soon with the peak time depending highly on the public health interventions practically implemented.Biao Tang Nicola Luigi Bragazzi Qian Li Sanyi Tang Yanni Xiao Jianhong Wu 2020Infectious Disease Modelling2020,5,1:54
2Current status and perspectives of Clonorchis sinensis and clonorchiasis: epidemiology, pathogenesis, omics, prevention and contro显示文摘Clonorchiasis,caused by Clonorchis sinensis(C.sinensis),is an important food-borne parasitic disease and one of the most common zoonoses.Currently,it is estimated that more than 200 million people are at risk of C.sinensis infection,and over 15 million are infected worldwide.C.sinensis infection is closely related to cholangiocarcinoma(CCA),fibrosis and other human hepatobiliary diseases;thus,clonorchiasis is a serious public health problem in endemic areas.This article reviews the current knowledge regarding the epidemiology,disease burden and treatment of clonorchiasis as well as summarizes the techniques for detecting C.sinensis infection in humans and intermediate hosts and vaccine development against clonorchiasis.Newer data regarding the pathogenesis of clonorchiasis and the genome,transcriptome and secretome of C.sinensis are collected,thus providing perspectives for future studies.These advances in research will aid the development of innovative strategies for the prevention and control of clonorchiasis.Ze-Li Tang Yan Huang Xin-Bing Yu 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:53
3Expression of the SARS-CoV-2 cell receptor gene ACE2 in a wide variety of human tissues显示文摘Background:Since its discovery in December 2019,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has infected more than 2180000 people worldwide and has caused more than 150000 deaths as of April 16,2020.SARS-CoV-2,which is the virus causing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),uses the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)as a cell receptor to invade human cells.Thus,ACE2 is the key to understanding the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 infection.This study is to investigate the ACE2 expression in various human tissues in order to provide insights into the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Methods:We compared ACE2 expression levels across 31 normal human tissues between males and females and between younger(ages≤49 years)and older(ages>49 years)persons using two-sided Student's t test.We also investigated the correlations between ACE2 expression and immune signatures in various tissues using Pearson's correlation test.Results:ACE2 expression levels were the highest in the small intestine,testis,kidneys,heart,thyroid,and adipose tissue,and were the lowest in the blood,spleen,bone marrow,brain,blood vessels,and muscle.ACE2 showed medium expression levels in the lungs,colon,liver,bladder,and adrenal gland.ACE2 was not differentially expressed between males and females or between younger and older persons in any tissue.In the skin,digestive system,brain,and blood vessels,ACE2 expression levels were positively associated with immune signatures in both males and females.In the thyroid and lungs,ACE2 expression levels were positively and negatively associated with immune signatures in males and females,respectively,and in the lungs they had a positive and a negative correlation in the older and younger groups,respectively.Conclusions:Our data indicate that SARS-CoV-2 may infect other tissues aside from the lungs and infect persons with different sexes,ages,and races equally.The different host immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection may partially explain why males and females,young and old persons infected with this virus have markedly distinct disease severity.This study provides new insights into the role of ACE2 in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.Meng-Yuan Li Lin Li Yue Zhang Xiao-Sheng Wang 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,2:41
4The economic burden of influenza-associated outpatient visits and hospitalizations in China: a retrospective survey显示文摘Background:The seasonal influenza vaccine coverage rate in China is only 1.9%.There is no information available on the economic burden of influenza-associated outpatient visits and hospitalizations at the national level,even though this kind of information is important for informing national-level immunization policy decision-making.Methods:A retrospective telephone survey was conducted in 2013/14 to estimate the direct and indirect costs of seasonal influenza-associated outpatient visits and hospitalizations from a societal perspective.Study participants were laboratory-confirmed cases registered in the National Influenza-like Illness Surveillance Network and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections Sentinel Surveillance Network in China in 2013.Patient-reported costs from the survey were validated by a review of hospital accounts for a small sample of the inpatients.Results:The study enrolled 529 outpatients(median age:eight years;interquartile range[IQR]:five to 20 years)and 254 inpatients(median age:four years;IQR:two to seven years).Among the outpatients,22.1%(117/529)had underlying diseases and among the inpatients,52.8%(134/254)had underlying diseases.The average total costs related to influenza-associated outpatient visits and inpatient visits were US$155(standard deviation,SD US$122)and US$1,511(SD US$1,465),respectively.Direct medical costs accounted for 45 and 69%of the total costs related to influenza-associated outpatient and inpatient visits,respectively.For influenza outpatients,the mean cost per episode in children aged below five years(US$196)was higher than that in other age groups(US$129–153).For influenza inpatients,the mean cost per episode in adults aged over 60 years(US$2,735)was much higher than that in those aged below 60 years(US$1,417–1,621).Patients with underlying medical conditions had higher costs per episode than patients without underlying medical conditions(outpatients:US$186 vs.US$146;inpatients:US$1,800 vs.US$1,189).In the baseline analysis,inpatients reported costs were 18%higher than those found in the accounts review(n=38).Conclusion:The economic burden of influenza-associated outpatient and inpatient visits in China is substantial,particularly for young children,the elderly,and patients with underlying medical conditions.More widespread influenza vaccination would likely alleviate the economic burden of patients.The actual impact and cost-effectiveness analysis of the influenza immunization program in China merits further investigation.Juan Yang Mark Jit Kathy S.Leung Ya-ming Zheng Lu-zhao Feng Li-ping Wang Eric H.Y.Lau Joseph T.Wu Hong-jie Yu 2015Infectious Diseases of Poverty2015,4,1:44
5The global epidemiology of clonorchiasis and its relation with cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘This paper reviews the epidemiological status and characteristics of clonorchiasis at global level and the etiological relationship between Clonorchis sinensis infection and cholangiocarcinoma(CCA).A conservative estimation was made that 15 million people were infected in the world in 2004,of which over 85%distributed in China.The epidemiology of clonorchiasis is characterized by rising trend in its prevalence,variability among sexes and age,as well as endemicity in different regions.More data indicate that C.sinensis infection is carcinogenic to human,and it is predicted that nearly 5000 CCA cases attributed to C.sinensis infection may occur annually in the world decades later,with its overall odds ratio of 4.47.Clonorchiasis is becoming one major public health problem in east Asia,and it is worthwhile to carry out further epidemiological studies.Men-Bao Qian Ying-Dan Chen Song Liang Guo-Jing Yang Xiao-Nong Zhou 2012Infectious Diseases of Poverty2012,1,1:37
6Schistosomiasis control and the health system in P.R. China显示文摘Over the last sixty years advances have been made in the control of schistosomiasis in P.R.China.There are,however,difficult challenges still to be met.This paper looks at the extent to which the health system offers a positive environment for the control of the disease.It starts by tracing three phases in schistosomiasis control:disease elimination strategy through snail control(1950s-early 1980s);morbidity control strategy based on chemotherapy(mid 1980s to 2003);integrated control strategy(2004+).Each one of these phases took place in distinct policy-making environments.The paper partly draws on these phases to set out five issues of disease control and discusses them in the context of the health system and its recent trends.These cover the policy-making process,intersectoral action for health,equity and access to health services,funding for public goods and externalities,and strengthening resource management and planning.These issues form the basis of an agenda for integrating research and capacity strengthening in the Chinese health system with a view to creating a more positive enabling environment for schistosomiasis control.In so doing it is important to emphasize the role and integrity of the public sector against its commercialization,the underlying value of equity,a systems wide perspective,and the role of advocacy.Charles Collins Jing Xu Shenglan Tang 2012Infectious Diseases of Poverty2012,1,1:36
7Review of risk factors for human echinococcosis prevalence on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China: a prospective for control options显示文摘Objective: Echinococcosis is a major parasitic zoonosis of public health importance in western China. In 2004, the Chinese Ministry of Health estimated that 380,000 people had the disease in the region. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is highly co-endemic with both alveolar echinococcosis (AE) and cystic echinococcosis (CE). In the past years, the Chinese government has been increasing the financial support to control the diseases in this region. Therefore, it is very important to identify the significant risk factors of the diseases by reviewing studies done in the region in the past decade to help policymakers design appropriate control strategies. Review: Selection criteria for which literature to review were firstly defined. Medline, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), and Google Scholar were systematically searched for literature published between January 2000 and July 2011. Significant risk factors found by single factor and/or multiple factors analysis were listed, counted, and summarized. Literature was examined to check the comparability of the data;age and sex specific prevalence with same data structures were merged and used for further analysis. A variety of assumed social, economical, behavioral, and ecological risk factors were studied on the Plateau. Those most at risk were Tibetan herdsmen, the old and female in particular. By analyzing merged comparable data, it was found that females had a significant higher prevalence, and a positive linearity relationship existed between echinococcosis prevalence and increasing age. In terms of behavioral risk factors, playing with dogs was mostly correlated with CE and/or AE prevalence. In terms of hygiene, employing ground water as the drinking water source was significantly correlated with CE and AE prevalence. For definitive hosts, dog related factors were most frequently identified with prevalence of CE or/and AE;fox was a potential risk factor for AE prevalence only. Overgrazing and deforestation were significant for AE prevalence only. Conclusion: Tibetan herdsmen communities were at the highest risk of echinococcosis prevalence and should be the focus of echinococcosis control. Deworming both owned and stray dogs should be a major measure for controlling echinococcosis;treatment of wild definitive hosts should also be considered for AE endemic areas. Health education activities should be in concert with the local people's education backgrounds and languages in order to be able to improve behaviors. 8Combating echinococcosis in China:strengthening the research and development显示文摘Echinococcosis is a neglected zoonotic disease,causing great morbidity and mortality due to the wide distribution of its endemic areas.China holds a high percentage in the global burden of both cystic and alveolar echinococcosis.A national survey conducted between 2012 and 2016 showed that an estimated 50 million people are at risk of contracting the disease in western China,of whom about 0.17 million are cases with echinococcosis.Despite this,research and development on echinococcosis in China is greatly inadequate compared to that in other countries.In this paper,we argue that there is a need for more research and work to be conducted in China on echinococcosis,including researching techniques in regards to diagnosis,treatment,and vaccination,and developing products through technical transformation and piloting strategies to control and even elimination.However,great opportunities exist for China to strengthen the research and development on this disease through initiatives such as Health China 2030,the Belt and Road Initiative,the China-Africa cooperation,as well as through further cooperation between China and the World Health Organization.All of these can bring us closer to controlling echinococcosis in China as well as in other countries.One element of crucial importance will be the training and development of professionals,which can be strengthened through international cooperation.Men-Bao Qian Bernadette Abela-Ridder Wei-Ping Wu Xiao-Nong Zhou 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:31
9Epidemiology, causes, clinical manifestation and diagnosis, prevention and control of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during the early outbreak period: a scoping review显示文摘Background:The coronavirus disease(COVID-19)has been identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness in Wuhan,Hubei Province,China beginning in December 2019.As of 31 January 2020,this epidemic had spread to 19 countries with 11791 confirmed cases,including 213 deaths.The World Health Organization has declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.Methods:A scoping review was conducted following the methodological framework suggested by Arksey and O'Malley.In this scoping review,65 research articles published before 31 January 2020 were analyzed and discussed to better understand the epidemiology,causes,clinical diagnosis,prevention and control of this virus.The research domains,dates of publication,journal language,authors'affiliations,and methodological characteristics were included in the analysis.All the findings and statements in this review regarding the outbreak are based on published information as listed in the references.Results:Most of the publications were written using the English language(89.2%).The largest proportion of published articles were related to causes(38.5%)and a majority(67.7%)were published by Chinese scholars.Research articles initially focused on causes,but over time there was an increase of the articles related to prevention and control.Studies thus far have shown that the virus7 origination is in connection to a seafood market in Wuhan,but specific animal associations have not been confirmed.Reported symptoms include fever,cough,fatigue,pneumonia,headache,diarrhea,hemoptysis,and dyspnea.Preventive measures such as masks,hand hygiene practices,avoidance of public contact,case detection,contact tracing,and quarantines have been discussed as ways to reduce transmission.To date,no specific antiviral treatment has proven effective;hence,infected people primarily rely on symptomatic treatment and supportive care.Conclusions:There has been a rapid surge in research in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.During this early period,published research primarily explored the epidemiology,causes,clinical manifestation and diagnosis,as well as prevention and control of the novel coronavirus.Although these studies are relevant to control the current public emergency,more high-quality research is needed to provide valid and reliable ways to manage this kind of public health emergency in both the short-and long-term.Sasmita Poudel Adhikari Sha Meng Yu-Ju Wu Yu-Ping Mao Rui-Xue Ye Qing-Zhi Wang Chang Sun Sean Sylvia Scott Rozelle Hein Raat Huan Zhou 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,2:28

13A mathematical model for simulating the phase-based transmissibility of a novel coronavirus显示文摘Background:As reported by the World Health Organization,a novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV)was identified as the causative virus of Wuhan pneumonia of unknown etiology by Chinese authorities on 7 January,2020.The virus was named as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)by International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses on 11 February,2020.This study aimed to develop a mathematical model for calculating the transmissibility of the virus.Methods:In this study,we developed a Bats-Hosts-Reservoir-People transmission network model for simulating the potential transmission from the infection source(probably be bats)to the human infection.Since the Bats-HostsReservoir network was hard to explore clearly and public concerns were focusing on the transmission from Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market(reservoir)to people,we simplified the model as Reservoir-People(RP)transmission network model.The next generation matrix approach was adopted to calculate the basic reproduction number(R0)from the RP model to assess the transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2.Results:The value of R0 was estimated of 2.30 from reservoir to person and 3.58 from person to person which means that the expected number of secondary infections that result from introducing a single infected individual into an otherwise susceptible population was 3.58.Conclusions:Our model showed that the transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2 was higher than the Middle East respiratory syndrome in the Middle East countries,similar to severe acute respiratory syndrome,but lower than MERS in the Republic of Korea.Tian-Mu Chen Jia Rui Qiu-Peng Wang Ze-Yu Zhao Jing-An Cui Ling Yin 2020Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,1:22
14Neglected tropical diseases in the People’s Republic of China: progress towards elimination显示文摘Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949,considerable progress has been made in the control and elimination of the country's initial set of 11 neglected tropical diseases.Indeed,elimination as a public health problem has been declared for lymphatic filariasis in 2007 and for trachoma in 2015.The remaining numbers of people affected by soil-transmitted helminth infection,clonorchiasis,taeniasis,and echinococcosis in 2015 were 29.1 million,6.0 million,366200,and 166100,respectively.In 2017,after more than 60 years of uninterrupted,multifaceted schistosomiasis control,has seen the number of cases dwindling from more than 10 million to 37600.Meanwhile,about 6000 dengue cases are reported,while the incidence of leishmaniasis,leprosy,and rabies are down at 600 or fewer per year.Sustained social and economic development,going hand-in-hand with improvement of water,sanitation,and hygiene provide the foundation for continued progress,while rigorous surveillance and specific public health responses will consolidate achievements and shape the elimination agenda.Targets for poverty elimination and strategic plans and intervention packages post-2020 are important opportunities for further control and elimination,when remaining challenges call for sustainable efforts.Men-Bao Qian Jin Chen Robert Bergquist Zhong-Jie Li Shi-Zhu Li Ning Xiao Jurg Utzinger Xiao-Nong Zhou 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,5:23

16Effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine in treating acquired immune deficiency syndrome: 2004–2014显示文摘Substantial progress has been made in China in using traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)to treat acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS).Our objective was to review the latest developments in TCM treatment of AIDS in China between 2004 and 2014.We reviewed the content of original articles investigating the efficacy and safety of TCM for treating AIDS published in Chinese and English language journals.Relevant references from 2004 to 2014 were found using PubMed and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database.We found that TCM has been widely used for treating AIDS and its complications in China.The number of TCM studies has increased,which indicates efficacy and safety.Measures of efficacy in the reviewed articles included the alleviation of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-related signs and symptoms,improvements in quality of life,improvements in long-term survival,counteraction of the adverse side effects of antiviral drugs,promotion of immune reconstitution,and improvement of laboratory results.In sum,the literature indicates that TCM is safe.TCM plays an important role in the treatment of AIDS.Some studies have attempted to measure the efficacy and safety of TCM for treating AIDS,but more evidence is needed.Therefore,more research on this topic is required in the future.Zhi-Bin Liu Ji-Ping Yang Li-Ran Xu 2015Infectious Diseases of Poverty2015,4,1:22
17Shrinking the malaria map in China: measuring the progress of the National Malaria Elimination Programme显示文摘Background:Remarkable progress has been made towards the elimination of malaria in China since the National Malaria Elimination Programme(NMEP)was launched in 2010.The incidence of locally-acquired malaria cases has declined rapidly and endemic areas have also dramatically shrunk.In total,3078 malaria cases were reported in 2014,but only 56 cases were indigenous.In order to further promote the elimination programme,we reviewed the progress of and experiences associated with malaria elimination in China,and identified the challenges and priorities for the next stage of the programme.Methods:Data were collected from the web-based China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention,and the China Annual Report of Malaria Elimination.The progress towards the elimination of malaria from 2010 to 2014 was measured.Results:During the implementation of the NMEP from 2010 to 2014,local malaria incidence has declined continuously,only remaining in the Yunnan Province and Tibet Autonomous Region in 2014.By the end of 2015,75.6%(1636/2163)of the malaria-endemic counties passed the sub-national elimination assessment.The main challenges are cases of border malaria and imported malaria from other countries.Sustainable support and investment from the government,the establishment of an effective surveillance and response system,and risk assessments for the potential reintroduction of malaria are priorities for the next stage of the elimination programme.Conclusions:The NMEP in China has been successfully implemented thus far and the malaria map has shrunk dramatically.The priorities for malaria elimination are interventions to block transmission at border areas,management of imported malaria cases,preventing malaria reintroduction,capacity building,and sustainability of malaria surveillance and response.Tao Hu Yao-Bao Liu Shao-Sen Zhang Zhi-Gui Xia Shui-Sen Zhou Jun Yan Jun Cao Zhan-Chun Feng 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:23
18Assessment of morbidity due to Schistosoma japonicum infection in China显示文摘This paper presents a historical assessment of morbidity due to the Schistosoma japonicum infection in China.Due to the socio-economic situation,which did not allow for a control program to be implemented until the early 1950s,morbidity was serious and mortality was high before this.Based on a few investigations and published papers,it can be said that the disease caused millions of deaths,and destroyed numerous families and villages.Since the 1950s,there has been a national control program,intensive control and prevention work has been carried out,and consequently the disease is being controlled.At present,both the prevalence and the morbidity of the disease have been decreasing substantially.The morbidity of the three phases of the disease is outlined in this paper.Comparatively higher morbidity is seen in the acute and advanced phases of the disease.The four major forms of advanced schistosomiasis i.e.,ascites,megalosplenia,dwarfism,and colonic tumoroid proliferation,are outlined with their characteristic clinical presentations;their proportions are different during various periods of the national control program.Ectopic schistosomiasis and the relationship between the S.japonicum infection and colorectal cancer are also discussed.Post-transmission schistosomiasis is briefly discussed(which can happen even if the disease reaches the criteria of elimination,and the infection and transmission have stopped,but yet it still develops).The problem of mammalian reservoir hosts of S.japonicum makes the epidemiology and control of schistosomiasis in China even more complicated and arduous,and the control progress in animal reservoirs is briefly presented.Ming-gang Chen 2014Infectious Diseases of Poverty2014,3,1:21
19China’s 1-3-7 surveillance and response strategy for malaria elimination: Is case reporting, investigation and foci response happening according to plan?显示文摘Background:The China’s 1-3-7 strategy was initiated and extensively adopted in different types of counties(geographic regions)for reporting of malaria cases within 1 day,their confirmation and investigation within 3 days,and the appropriate public health response to prevent further transmission within 7 days.Assessing the level of compliance to the 1-3-7 strategy at the county level is a first step towards determining whether the surveillance and response strategy is happening according to plan.This study assessed if the time-bound targets of the 1-3-7 strategy were being sustained over time.Such information would be useful to improve implementation of the 1-3-7 strategy in China.Methods:This cross-sectional study involved country-wide programmatic data for the period January 1st 2013 to June 30th 2014.Data variables were extracted from the national malaria information system and included socio-demographic information,type of county,date of diagnosis,date of reporting,date of case investigation,case classification(indigenous,or imported,or unknown),focus investigation,date of reactive case detection(RACD),and date of indoor residual spraying(IRS).Summary statistics and proportions were used and comparisons between groups were assessed using the chi-square test.Level of significance was set at a P-value≤0.05.Results:Of a total of 5,688 malaria cases from 731 counties,there were 55(1%)indigenous cases(only in Type 1 and Type 2 counties)and 5,633(99%)imported cases from all types of counties.There was no delay in reporting malaria cases by type of county.In terms of case investigation,97.5%cases were investigated within 3 days with the proportion of delays(1.5%)in type 2 counties,being significantly lower than type 1 counties(4.1%).Regarding active foci,96.4%were treated by RACD and/or IRS.Conclusions:The performance of 1-3-7 strategy was encouraging but identified some challenges that if addressed can further improve implementation.Shui-Sen Zhou Shao-Sen Zhang Li Zhang Aafje ECRietveld Andrew RRamsay Rony Zachariah Karen Bissell Rafael Van den Bergh Zhi-Gui Xia Xiao-Nong Zhou Richard ECibulskis 2015Infectious Diseases of Poverty2015,4,1:21
20Global burden, distribution, and interventions for infectious diseases of poverty显示文摘Infectious diseases of poverty(IDoP)disproportionately affect the poorest population in the world and contribute to a cycle of poverty as a result of decreased productivity ensuing from long-term illness,disability,and social stigma.In 2010,the global deaths from HIV/AIDS have increased to 1.5 million and malaria mortality rose to 1.17 million.Mortality from neglected tropical diseases rose to 152,000,while tuberculosis killed 1.2 million people that same year.Substantial regional variations exist in the distribution of these diseases as they are primarily concentrated in rural areas of Sub-Saharan Africa,Asia,and Latin America,with geographic overlap and high levels of co-infection.Evidence-based interventions exist to prevent and control these diseases,however,the coverage still remains low with an emerging challenge of antimicrobial resistance.Therefore,community-based delivery platforms are increasingly being advocated to ensure sustainability and combat co-infections.Because of the high morbidity and mortality burden of these diseases,especially in resource-poor settings,it is imperative to conduct a systematic review to identify strategies to prevent and control these diseases.Therefore,we attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of one of these strategies,that is community-based delivery for the prevention and treatment of IDoP.In this paper,we describe the burden,epidemiology,and potential interventions for IDoP.In subsequent papers of this series,we describe the analytical framework and the methodology used to guide the systematic reviews,and report the findings and interpretations of our analyses of the impact of community-based strategies on individual IDoPs.Zulfiqar A Bhutta Johannes Sommerfeld Zohra S Lassi Rehana A Salam Jai K Das 2014Infectious Diseases of Poverty2014,3,1:21
