1Rapid Identification of Rice Samples Using an Electronic Nose显示文摘Four rice samples of long grain type were tested using an electronic nose (Cyranose-320).Samples of 5 g of each variety ofrice were placed individually in vials and were analyzed with the electronic nose unit consisting of 32 polymer sensors.TheCyranose-320 was able to differentiate between varieties of rice.The chemical composition of the rice odors for differentiatingrice samples needs to be investigated.The optimum parameter settings should be considered during the Cyranose-320 trainingprocess especially for multiple samples,which are helpful for obtaining an accurate training model to improve identificationcapability.Further,it is necessary to investigate the E-nose sensor selection for obtaining better classification accuracy.A re-duced number of sensors could potentially shorten the data processing time,and could be used to establish an application pro-cedure and reduce the cost for a specific electronic nose.Further research is needed for developing analytical procedures thatadapt the Cyranose-320 as a tool for testing rice quality.John Westbrook W.C.Hoffmann R.E.Lacey 2009Journal of Bionic Engineering2009,6,3:28

3FUSAR-Ship:building a high-resolution SAR-AIS matchup dataset of Gaofen-3 for ship detection and recognition显示文摘Gaofen-3 (GF-3) is China's first civil C-band fully polarimetric spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) primarily missioned for ocean remote sensing and marine monitoring. This paper proposes an automatic sea segmentation, ship detection, and SAR-AIS matchup procedure and an extensible marine target taxonomy of 15 primary ship categories, 98 sub-categories, and many non-ship targets. The FUSAR-Ship high-resolution GF-3 SAR dataset is constructed by running the procedure on a total of 126 GF-3 scenes covering a large variety of sea, land, coast, river and island scenarios. It includes more than 5000 ship chips with AIS messages as well as samples of strong scatterer, bridge, coastal land, islands, sea and land clutter. FUSAR-Ship is intended as an open benchmark dataset for ship and marine target detection and recognition. 4Recognition of wood surface defects with near infrared spectroscopy and machine vision显示文摘To improve the accuracy in recognizing defects on wood surfaces,a method fusing near infrared spectroscopy(NIR)and machine vision was examined.Larix gmelinii was selected as the raw material,and the experiments focused on the ability of the model to sort defects into four types:live knots,dead knots,pinholes,and cracks.Sample images were taken using an industrial camera,and a morphological algorithm was applied to locate the position of the defects.A portable near infrared spectrometer(900–1800 nm)collected the spectra of these positions.In addition,principal component analysis was utilized on these variables from spectral information and principal component vectors were extracted as the inputs of the model.The results show that a back propagation neural network model exhibited better discrimination accuracy of 92.7%for the training set and 92.0%for the test set.The research reveals that the NIR fusing machine vision is a feasible tool for detecting defects on board surfaces.Huiling Yu Yuliang Liang Hao Liang Yizhuo Zhang 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6:16
5A novel image segmentation approach for wood plate surface defect classification through convex optimization显示文摘Detection of wood plate surface defects using image processing is a complicated problem in the forest industry as the image of the wood surface contains different kinds of defects. In order to obtain complete defect images, we used convex optimization(CO) with different weights as a pretreatment method for smoothing and the Otsu segmentation method to obtain the target defect area images. Structural similarity(SSIM) results between original image and defect image were calculated to evaluate the performance of segmentation with different convex optimization weights. The geometric and intensity features of defects were extracted before constructing a classification and regression tree(CART) classifier. The average accuracy of the classifier is 94.1% with four types of defects on Xylosma congestum wood plate surface: pinhole, crack,live knot and dead knot. 6Blind recognition of k/n rate convolutional encoders from noisy observation显示文摘Blind recognition of convolutional codes is not only essential for cognitive radio, but also for non-cooperative context.This paper is dedicated to the blind identification of rate k/n convolutional encoders in a noisy context based on Walsh-Hadamard transformation and block matrix(WHT-BM). The proposed algorithm constructs a system of noisy linear equations and utilizes all its coefficients to recover parity check matrix. It is able to make use of fault-tolerant feature of WHT, thus providing more accurate results and achieving better error performance in high raw bit error rate(BER) regions. 7广东省乡村聚落空间分布的影响机制及研究内容框架展望(英文)显示文摘Based on land use classification data of remote sensing images, using kernel density, the minimal cumulative resistance model of road traffic accessibility, and a logistic regression model, the characteristics of the spatial pattern and the main factors influencing it were quantitatively examined in Guangdong Province from 1990 to 2013. The framework of the research concerning rural settlement evolution and its effect mechanisms were also discussed and generalized for the future. The results are as follows:(1) The spatial distribution of rural settlements showed spatial directivity of low altitude, low slope, and adjacent to rivers, as well as to villages and towns; thus a special pattern was formed, which was dense on the plains, sparse in mountainous areas, and included two core high density regions of rural settlements in the Chaoshan plain in the east and the Zhanjiang plain tableland region in the west. The spatial distribution of rural settlements was located along the rivers, valleys, and roads with traffic in the mountainous regions surrounding the Pearl River Delta region.(2) In addition to the spatial orientation of the open road, it was important to show that the accessibility of road traffic to the township has had the greatest influence on the spatial distribution of the rural settlements. The connected transport network between towns and villages is significant for rural transformation as a comprehensive increase in township production and service capacity will be the key to optimizing the town-village system in rural areas.(3) Elevation and slope were two basic but influential factors that have affected the distribution, scale, and form of rural settlements. The attributes of the physical geography are the first elements in optimizing village layout and planning spatial reconstruction.(4) In the current Internet and social media era, the reconstruction of market network system orders connects with the global market network system in rural areas. The rural life service circle will be constructed with the township at its core to explore the theory and practice of spatial reconstruction, including its production, life and ecology, and socio-cultural heritage and protection. 8Identity-aware convolutional neural networks for facial expression recognition显示文摘Facial expression recognition is a hot topic in computer vision, but it remains challenging due to the feature inconsistency caused by person-specific characteristics of facial expressions.To address such a challenge, and inspired by the recent success of deep identity network(Deep ID-Net) for face identification, this paper proposes a novel deep learning based framework for recognising human expressions with facial images. Compared to the existing deep learning methods, our proposed framework, which is based on multi-scale global images and local facial patches,can significantly achieve a better performance on facial expression recognition. 9Discriminative graph regularized broad learning system for image recognition显示文摘Broad learning system(BLS) has been proposed as an alternative method of deep learning. The architecture of BLS is that the input is randomly mapped into series of feature spaces which form the feature nodes, and the output of the feature nodes are expanded broadly to form the enhancement nodes, and then the output weights of the network can be determined analytically. The most advantage of BLS is that it can be learned incrementally without a retraining process when there comes new input data or neural nodes. It has been proven that BLS can overcome the inadequacies caused by training a large number of parameters in gradient-based deep learning algorithms. In this paper, a novel variant graph regularized broad learning system(GBLS) is proposed. Taking account of the locally invariant property of data, which means the similar images may share similar properties, the manifold learning is incorporated into the objective function of the standard BLS. In GBLS, the output weights are constrained to learn more discriminative information,and the classification ability can be further enhanced. Several experiments are carried out to verify that our proposed GBLS model can outperform the standard BLS. 10Solution structure of the RNA recognition domain of METTL3-METTL14 N^6-methyladenosine methyltransferase显示文摘N^6-methyladenosine(m6A),a ubiquitous RNA modification,is installed by METTL3-METTL14 complex.The structure of the heterodimeric complex between the methyltransferase domains(MTDs)of METTL3 and METTL14 has been previously determined.However,the MTDs alone possess no enzymatic activity.Here we present the solution structure for the zinc finger domain(ZFD)of METTL3,the inclusion of which fulfills the methyltransferase activity of METTL3-METTL14.We show that the ZFD specifically binds to an RNA containing 5'-GGACU-3'consensus sequence,but does not to one without.The ZFD thus serves as the target recognition domain,a structural feature previously shown for DNA methyltransferases,and cooperates with the MTDs of METTL3-METTL14 for catalysis.However,the interaction between the ZFD and the specific RNA is extremely weak,with the binding affinity at several hundred micromolar under physiological conditions.The ZFD contains two CCCH-type zinc fingers connected by an anti-parallel P-sheet.Mutational analysis and NMR titrations have mapped the functional interface to a contiguous surface.As a division of labor,the RNA-binding interface comprises basic residues from zinc finger 1 and hydrophobic residues fromβ-sheet and zinc finger 2.Further we show that the linker between the ZFD and MTD of METTL3 is flexible but partially folded,which may permit the cooperation between the two domains during catalysis.Together,the structural characterization of METTL3 ZFD paves the way to elucidate the atomic details of the entire process of RNA m6A modification.Jinbo Huang Xu Dong Zhou Gong Ling-Yun Qin Shuai Yang Yue-Ling Zhu Xiang Wang Delin Zhang Tingting Zou Ping Yin Chun Tang 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,4:11
11Recognition of Palliative Care in Chinese Clinicians:How They Feel and What They Know显示文摘Objective To investigate doctors'feelings when providing medical care to end-stage patients,and their understanding as well as reflection about theoretical concepts of palliative medicine.Methods Questionnaires were delivered through a social networking platform to1500clinicians of different specialties in10proviences of China.It covered issues of background information,self-assessment of familiarity to palliative care,prior training history,emotional attitude toward end-stage patients,and the reflections on clinical practice.Logistic regression analysis and chi-square test were used to analyse the categorical variables.Results There were379clinicians who completed the questionnaires and submitted successfully.Among them,66.8%(253/379)had attended palliative care training courses more than twice;66.8%(253/379)clinicians percieved powerless feeling when facing end-stage patients.We found that the education on palliative medicine was significantly associated to doctors'better comprehension on the concept of palliative care(OR=6.923,P=0.002).Doctors who were more familiar with palliative medicine were less likely to perceive powerless feelings(χ^2=13.015,P<0.001),and would be more likely to concern about patients and their family members in their clinical work(χ^2=28.754,P<0.001,χ^2=24.406,P<0.001).Conclusion The powerless feeling is prevalent in Chinese doctors when facing end-stage patients.Palliative care help them overcome the negative feelings and act more caring in clinic.More careful designed educational strategies that adapt to Chinese actual situation are needed to improve doctors'cognition on palliative care.Yirong Xiang Xiaohong Ning 2018Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2018,33,4:9
12Rapid Recognition of Isomers of Monochlorobiphenyls at Trace Levels by Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Using Ag Nanorods as a Substrate显示文摘Isomers and homologues of organic pollutants are hard to distinguish-especially in trace amounts-due to the similarities in their physical and chemical properties. We report here that by identifying the Raman characteristics of isomers of monochlorobiphenyls, these compounds can be recognized, even at trace levels, by using the surface-enhance Raman scattering method with silver nanorods as a substrate. When dissolved in acetone, 2-, 3-, and 4-chlorobiphenyls were detected at a concentration of 10^(-8) mol/L, at which their characteristic Raman peaks were visible. 14Saliency guided local and global descriptors for effective action recognition显示文摘This paper presents a novel framework for human action recognition based on salient object detection and a new combination of local and global descriptors. We first detect salient objects in video frames and only extract features for such objects.We then use a simple strategy to identify and process only those video frames that contain salient objects. Processing salient objects instead of all frames not only makes the algorithm more efficient, but more importantly also suppresses the interference of background pixels. We combine this approach with a new combination of local and global descriptors, namely3D-SIFT and histograms of oriented optical flow(HOOF), respectively. The resulting saliency guided3D-SIFT–HOOF(SGSH) feature is used along with a multi-class support vector machine(SVM) classifier for human action recognition. 15Local Gabor Dominant Direction Pattern for Face Recognition显示文摘We propose a novel face image representation – Local gabor dominant direction pattern(LGDDP)for face recognition. The face image is convolved with the Gabor filters, resulting in multiple response images of different orientations and scales. The response images' each pixel is encoded by the LGDDP descriptor from the pixel's dominant neighboring one or two pixels. The image formed by the LGDDP descriptor is partitioned into multiple regions and the histogram is extracted from each region. All the histograms are concatenated into the spatial histogram.The nearest neighbor classifier and the weighted intersection histogram similarity measure are used for face image classification. The advantage of the proposed LGDDP method lies in the high recognition rate performance and the low computational complexity. 16Hepatitis B virus-persistent infection and innate immunity defect: Cell-related or virus-related?显示文摘The outcomes of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection are closely related to the age at which infection was acquired. Infection acquired in adult life tends to be selflimited, in contrast to perinatal acquirement, for which chronic persistence of the HBV is a general outcome. Innate immunity plays an indispensable role in early virus infection, facilitating virus clearance. However, it has been reported that HBV is under-recognized and poorly eliminated by the innate immune system in the early stages of infection, possibly explaining the long-lasting persistence of viremia afterwards. Furthermore, due to the existence of covalently closed circular DNA, chronic HBV clearance is very difficult, even when patients are given interferon-α and nucleotide/nucleoside analogs for antiviral therapy. The mechanism by which HBV evades innate immune recognition and establishes persistent infection remains a subject of debate. Besides, some researchers are becoming more interested in how to eradicate chronic HBV infection by restoring or boosting innate immunity. This review aimed to summarize the current knowledge on how intrahepatocyte signaling pathways and innate immune cells act after the onset of HBV infection and how these actions are related to the persistence of HBV. 18Using Highway Connections to Enable Deep Small-footprint LSTM-RNNs for Speech Recognition显示文摘Long short-term memory RNNs(LSTMRNNs) have shown great success in the Automatic speech recognition(ASR) field and have become the state-ofthe-art acoustic model for time-sequence modeling tasks.However, it is still difficult to train deep LSTM-RNNs while keeping the parameter number small. We use the highway connections between memory cells in adjacent layers to train a small-footprint highway LSTM-RNNs(HLSTM-RNNs), which are deeper and thinner compared to conventional LSTM-RNNs. 19A Novel Recognition Method for Low SNR DSSS Signals Based on Four-Order Cumulant and Eigenvalue Analysis显示文摘At present it is very difficult to estimate the carrier frequency, spread spectrum code period and spread spectrum code pattern of Direct sequence spread spectrum(DSSS) signals with low Signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) accurately and simultaneously in the condition of Gaussian white noise. A novel method of estimation for carrier frequency and spread spectrum code period of DSSS signals based on four-order cumulant and eigenvalue analysis is presented. Compared with the correlative detection in time domain, square filtering detection and Hebbian rule, the proposal method in this study can realize the estimation for the carrier frequency and period of spread spectrum code of low SNR DSSS signals with a high accuracy simultaneously. In a priori condition of the spread spectrum code period the proposal method can calculate synchronization loss time between spread spectrum code and information symbol. 20Method of Modulation Recognition Based on Combination Algorithm of K-Means Clustering and Grading Training SVM显示文摘For the existing support vector machine, when recognizing more questions, the shortcomings of high computational complexity and low recognition rate under the low SNR are emerged. The characteristic parameter of the signal is extracted and optimized by using a clustering algorithm, support vector machine is trained by grading algorithm so as to enhance the rate of convergence, improve the performance of recognition under the low SNR and realize modulation recognition of the signal based on the modulation system of the constellation diagram in this paper. Simulation results show that the average recognition rate based on this algorithm is enhanced over 30% compared with methods that adopting clustering algorithm or support vector machine respectively under the low SNR.
