The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use. However, the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome. Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix, and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize, but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event, which was not detected in sorghum. We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits, especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication. The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis. We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color, respectively. The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively. These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop. | Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,2: | 11
Optimization Design of Minimum Total Resistance Hull Form Based on CFD Method显示文摘In order to reduce the resistance and improve the hydrodynamic performance of a ship, two hull form design methods are proposed based on the potential flow theory and viscous flow theory. The flow fields are meshed using body-fitted mesh and structured grids. The parameters of the hull modification function are the design variables. A three-dimensional modeling method is used to alter the geometry. The Non-Linear Programming(NLP) method is utilized to optimize a David Taylor Model Basin(DTMB) model 5415 ship under the constraints, including the displacement constraint. The optimization results show an effective reduction of the resistance. The two hull form design methods developed in this study can provide technical support and theoretical basis for designing green ships. | ZHANG Bao-ji ZHANG Sheng-long ZHANG Hui | 2018 | China Ocean Engineering2018,32,3: | 5
OPTIMIZATION OF A WAVE CANCELLATION MULTIHULL SHIP USING CFD TOOLS显示文摘A simple CFD tool, coupled to a discrete surface representation and a gradient based optimization procedure, is applied to the design of optimal hull forms and optimal arrangement of hulls for a wave cancellation multihull ship. The CFD tool, which is used to estimate the wave drag, is based on the zeroth order slender ship approximation. The hu ll surface is represented by a triangulation, and almost every grid point on the surface can be used as a design variable. A smooth surface is obtained via a si mplified pseudo shell problem. The optimal design process consists of two steps . The optimal center and outer hull forms are determined independently in the fi rst step, where each hull forms are determined independently in the first step, where each hull keeps the same displacement as the original design while the wav e drag is minimized. The optimal outer hull arrangement is determined in the se cond step for the optimal center and outer hull forms obtained in the first step . Results indicate that the new design can achieve a large wave drag reduction i n comparison to the original design configuration. | C. Yang, R. L■hner, O. | 4 | A Quick Convex Hull Building Algorithm Based on Grid and Binary Tree显示文摘A quick convex hull building algorithm using grid and binary tree is proposed for the minimum convex buidling of planar point set. Grids are used to assess and eliminate those interior points wihtout any contribution to convex hull building and points are sought in the boundary grid only so as to enhance the efficiency of algorithm. The minimum convex bull is built by taking such advantages of binary tree as quick, convenient and applicable for various point sets with different distributions, so as to resolve the description problem of concave point. The time complexity of the algorithm is low because of grid pretreatment. As the results of comparative expriment of random point and actual picture show, the proposed algorithm can obtain the best profile of 2D planar picture with minimum time, which is applicable for describing the shape of irregular convex-concave objects. | GAO Yang CHENG Yuhu WANG Xuesong | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Electronics2015,24,2: | 4

Added Resistance Acting on Hull of a Non Ballast Water Ship显示文摘In this paper, added resistances acting on a hull of non ballast water ship(NBS) in high waves is discussed. The non ballast water ships were developed at the laboratory of the authors at Osaka Prefecture University, Japan. In the present paper, the performances of three kinds of bow shapes developed for the NBS were theoretically and experimentally investigated to find the best one in high waves. In previous papers, an optimum bow shape for the NBS was developed in calm water and in moderated waves. For a 2 m model for experiments and computations, the wave height is 0.02 m. This means that the wave height is 15% of the draft of the ship in full load conditions. In this paper, added resistances in high waves up to 0.07 m for a 2 m model or 53% of the full load draft are investigated. In such high waves linear wave theories which have been used in the design stage of a ship for a long time may not work well anymore, and experiments are the only effective tool to predict the added resistance in high waves. With the computations for waves, the ship is in a fully captured condition because shorter waves, λ/Lpp<0.6, are assumed. | Ngo Van He Yoshiho Ikeda | 2014 | Journal of Marine Science and Application2014,13,1: | 2

Gain-Scheduled Control and Stability Analysis of Morphing Aircraft in Transition Process显示文摘The large-scale morphing aircraft can change its shape dramatically to perform high flight performance. To ensure the transient stability of aircraft in the morphing process,a novel gain-scheduled control method is investigated numerically in this paper.Based on quasi-steady assumption, the linear parameter varying (LPV) model of the morphing vehicle is derived from its nonlinear equation.Afterwards,by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities along with the bound of the morphing rate via slowly varying system theory, the designed controller which considers the transition stability during the morphing process is obtained. Finally, the transition process simulations of the morphing aircraft are performed via the changes simultaneously in both span and sweep, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. | Li Wencheng Jin Dongping | 2018 | Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2018,35,6: | 2
Investigation on structural component behaviours of double bottom arrangement under grounding accidents显示文摘Marine accidents have caused immense casualties on various parties in shipping and shipbuilding industries, including financial and structural losses. This situation makes ship accident becomes a critical subject in naval architecture and marine structures, as it needs continuous assessment and investigation to broaden insight and data of collision and grounding phenomena. The paper aims to investigate structural conditions of a ship arranged by double hull system under accidental scenario, namely ship grounding. Fundamental concept of structure-rock interaction in poweredhard grounding is adopted to design impact configuration for calculation using finite element(FE)simulation. Involved entities are defined as the structure represented by tanker vessel, and oceanic rock is deployed as the indenter in analysis. Calculation results indicate that the crashworthiness capability of structural part strengthened by longitudinal girder is higher than other selected locations on the structures against rock penetration. Localized flooding of storage oil may occur during raking damage is formed on structural part between two girders. | Aditya Rio Prabowo Teguh Muttaqie Jung Min Sohn Bangun I.R.Harsritanto | 2019 | Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2019,9,1: | 2
Performance Characterisation for Risk Assessment of Striking Ship Impacts Based on Struck Ship Damaged Volume显示文摘Ship collision accidents are rare events but pose huge threat to human lives, assets, and the environment. Many researchers have sought for effective models that compute ship stochastic response during collisions by considering the variability of ship collision scenario parameters. However, the existing models were limited by the capability of the collision computational models and did not completely capture collision scenario, and material and geometric uncertainties. In this paper, a novel framework to performance characterisation of ships in collision involving a variety of striking ships is developed, by characterising the structural consequences with efficient response models. A double-hull oil carrier is chosen as the struck ship to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework. Response surface techniques are employed to generate the most probable input design sets which are used to sample an automated finite element tool to compute the chosen structural consequences. The resulting predictor-response relationships are fitted with suitable surrogate models to probabilistically characterise the struck ship damage under collisions. As demonstrated in this paper, such models are extremely useful to reduce the computational complexity in obtaining probabilistic design measures for ship structures. The proposed probabilistic approach is also combined with available collision frequency models from literature to demonstrate the risk tolerance computations. | Abayomi Obisesan Srinivas Sriramula | 2017 | Journal of Marine Science and Application2017,16,2: | 2

Buckling of Cassini Oval Pressure Hulls Subjected to External Pressure显示文摘The paper focuses on Cassini oval pressure hulls under uniform external pressure. The Cassini oval pressure hull is proposed based on the shape index of Cassini oval. The buckling of a series of Cassini oval pressure hulls with the shape index of 0.09–0.30 and one spherical pressure hull with the diameter of 2 m is devoted. Such hulls are numerically studied in the case of constant volume, material properties, and wall thickness. The results show that Cassini oval pressure hulls with the shape index of 0.10–0.11 can resist about 4% more external pressure than the spherical one. This deviates from the classical mechanics conclusion that spherical shell is the optimal shape for underwater pressure resistant structures. | TANG Wen-xian WANG Wei-min ZHANG Jian WANG Shu-yan | 2019 | China Ocean Engineering2019,33,4: | 1
A novel method for virtual clearance computation of high-speed train based on model integration and convex hull显示文摘The 3D clearance of a high-speed train(HST) is critical to ensure the safety of railway transportation. Many studies have been conducted on the inspection of the clearance profile in railway operation based on the vision system, but few researchers have focused on the computation of the 3D clearance in the design phase of an HST. This paper summarizes the virtual 3D clearance computation of an HST based on model integration and the convex hull method. First, both the aerodynamic and kinetic analysis models of the HST are constructed. The two models are then integrated according to the corresponding relationship map, and an array of transformation matrixes of the HST is created to drive the designed model simulating the physical railway motion. Furthermore, the convex hull method is adopted to compute the 3D envelope of the moving train. Finally, the Hausdorff metric is involved in the measurement of the minimum clearance model and the 3D envelope model. In addition, the color map of the Hausdorff distance is established to verify that the designed shape of the HST meets the national standards. This paper provides an effective method to accurately calculate the 3D clearance for the shape design of an HST, which greatly reduces the development cost by minimizing the physical prototype that must be built. | 易兵 李雄兵 曾威 宋永锋 杨岳 | 2017 | Journal of Central South University2017,24,10: | 1
Hull forms of small high-speed wave-piercing monohull crafts and hydrodynamics study显示文摘Wave-piercing design is a revolution in hull design for small high-speed boats to operate in adverse sea conditions. To study hydrodynamics of the small high speed wave piercing monohull craft systematically, four typical small high-speed wave-piercing monohull crafts were developed, and validated CFD methods were adopted to calculate hull resistances and motions. The resistances and hull motions of these high-speed wave piercing monohull crafts in calm water and waves were obtained and compared. Obvious operating differences can be observed. High-speed wave piercing monohull crafts with slender and twisted planing hulls have smaller resistance at high speed, but the dynamic effects increase as sea conditions worsen. The high-speed wave-piercing monohull craft with a slim multi-chine hull maintains in waves for softer hull motions but suffers the disadvantages of larger resistance. The high-speed wave piercing monohull craft with a triangular hull shows no obvious advantages compared with the other types. | Cheng-zhu Wei Ying-hui Li Xiao-feng Liang Hong Yi | 2019 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2019,31,4: | 1
Preparation and characterization of nanocellulose from rapeseed hull显示文摘Rapeseed hull, a by product in rapeseed processing, deserves deep research for extensive application to promote its limited value at present. The aim of this study was to explore utilization of rapeseed hull as a source of raw material for nanocellulose. On the basis of pretreatment with sodium hydroxide solution and peroxide solution, nanocellulose from rapeseed hull(NRH) was prepared by sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Samples of different pretreatment stages were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum and thermo-gravimetric analysis. Results showed that sodium hydroxide solution and peroxide solution pretreatment could significantly increase cellulose content of the material(p < 0.05). NRH prepared by sulfuric acid hydrolysis was of short rod structure, 50-250 nm in length with diameter of 5-25 nm. It had a typical type of celluloseⅠcrystal with 64.4% crystallinity. Initial thermal decomposition temperature of NRH was the lowest among all samples. NRH was expected to be applied in biodegradable composites. Therefore, this work will provide reference for further utilization of rapeseed hull as a low-cost source of nanocellulose. | Weijun Wang Changsheng Liu Fenghong Huang Wenlin Li Chang Zheng | 2019 | Oil Crop Science2019,4,1: | 1

FPSO Global Strength and Hull Optimization显示文摘Global strength is a significant item for floating production storage and offloading(FPSO) design, and steel weight plays an important role in the building costs of FPSO. It is the main task to consider and combine these two aspects by optimizing hull dimensions. There are many optional methods for the global strength analysis. A common method is to use the ABS FPSO Eagle software to analyze the global strength including the rule check and direct strength analysis. And the same method can be adopted for the FPSO hull optimization by changing the depth. After calculation and optimization, the results are compared and analyzed. The results can be used as a reference for the future design or quotation purpose. | Junyuan Ma Jianhua Xiao Rui Ma Kai Cao | 2014 | Journal of Marine Science and Application2014,13,1: | 1
