2Longwall mining “cutting cantilever beam theory” and 110 mining method in China——The third mining science innovation显示文摘With the third innovation in science and technology worldwide, China has also experienced this marvelous progress. Concerning the longwall mining in China, the 'masonry beam theory'(MBT) was first proposed in the 1960 s, illustrating that the transmission and equilibrium method of overburden pressure using reserved coal pillar in mined-out areas can be realized. This forms the so-called '121mining method', which lays a solid foundation for development of mining science and technology in China. The 'transfer rock beam theory'(TRBT) proposed in the 1980 s gives a further understanding for the transmission path of stope overburden pressure and pressure distribution in high-stress areas. In this regard, the advanced 121 mining method was proposed with smaller coal pillar for excavation design,making significant contributions to improvement of the coal recovery rate in that era. In the 21 st century,the traditional mining technologies faced great challenges and, under the theoretical developments pioneered by Profs. Minggao Qian and Zhenqi Song, the 'cutting cantilever beam theory'(CCBT) was proposed in 2008. After that the 110 mining method is formulated subsequently, namely one stope face,after the first mining cycle, needs one advanced gateway excavation, while the other one is automatically formed during the last mining cycle without coal pillars left in the mining area. This method can be implemented using the CCBT by incorporating the key technologies, including the directional presplitting roof cutting, constant resistance and large deformation(CRLD) bolt/anchor supporting system with negative Poisson's ratio(NPR) effect material, and remote real-time monitoring technology. 3Progress in additive manufacturing on new materials: A review显示文摘Recent efforts and advances in additive manufacturing(AM) on different types of new materials are presented and reviewed. Special attention is paid to the material design of cladding layers, the choice of feedstock materials, the metallurgical behavior and synthesis principle during the AM process, and the resulted microstructures and properties, as well as the relationship between these factors. Thereafter,the trend of development in the future is forecasted, including: Effects of the particles size and size distribution of powders; Approaches for producing fine microstructures; Opportunities for creating new materials by AM; Wide applications in reconditioning of damaged components; Challenges for deep understanding and applications of the AMed new materials. 7Theoretical analysis and experimental investigation on flexural performance of steel reinforced ultrahigh toughness cementitious composite (RUHTCC) beams显示文摘UHTCC (ultrahigh toughness cementitious composite), which is a kind of ultrahigh toughness cemen- titious composites material, exhibits pseudo strain hardening feature when subjected to tension load, and has enormous ductility and prominent crack dispersal ability. Accordingly, UHTCC can improve mechanical behavior of ordinary concrete structure especially its durability, and has been regarded as historical breakthrough to traditional cementitious materials. In this paper, the study focuses on flexure behavior of steel reinforced beam made of UHTCC. Based on the plane section assumption, along with two equilibrium equations of force and moment, the formulae to calculate the flexural load capability for the reinforced ultrahigh toughness cementitious composite (RUHTCC) beam were developed under the assumption that the compression stress- strain relationship in the UHTCC material is a bilinear model. Following this, the simplified formulae were further evolved by effective rectangle stress distribution approach in order to facilitate design of practical engineering. Two effective parameters introduced in effective rectangle approach were determined. The mathematical expressions to evaluate limited rein- forcement ratio, flexural stiffness as well as ductility index were proposed, too. Last, two series of dif- ferent reinforcement ratios of the RUHTCC beams were tested in four-point flexure loading. For com- parison purposes, ordinary RC (reinforced concrete) beams also were prepared. Both moment curva- ture curves and load mid-span displacement curves were recorded and compared with the theoretical calculations. A good agreement between them was found, which validates the proposed theoretical formulae. For ductility index, a slightly big difference between the experimental values and the calcu- lated ones exists. The experimental results show that, compared to control RC beams, the RUHTCC beam can improve both flexural capacity and ductility index, and the degree of improvement will de- crease with the increase in the reinforcement ratio. 11Development status of high power fiber lasers and their coherent beam combination显示文摘High-power fiber laser has been emerged great potential in a wide range of applications and becomes a robust candidate for high energy solid state laser system. To further increase the output brightness of single-channel fiber laser, high-brightness pump sources and high-power-handling passive components should be fabricated and utilized in the fiber laser systems, in addition to the advanced techniques for multiple nonlinear effects managements. The state-of-the-art high power fiber lasers are reviewed, in terms of narrow-linewidth fiber lasers, broadband fiber lasers and fiber lasers at 2 μm. Coherent beam combining is a promising technique to obtain higher output power while maintaining excellent beam quality simultaneously,which breaks through the bottlenecks of single-channel fiber laser. Based on a series of key techniques for coherent beam combining, high-power coherent beam combining of fiber lasers could be enabled with high combining efficiency. In this paper, we review the progress of high-power fiber lasers and their coherent beam combining in the recent decade, particularly the relevant work in our group. 13Steady-state responses of axially accelerating viscoelastic beams: Approximate analysis and numerical confirmation显示文摘Nonlinear parametric vibration of axially accelerating viscoelastic beams is inves-tigated via an approximate analytical method with numerical confirmations. Based on nonlinear models of a finite-small-stretching slender beam moving at a speed with a periodic fluctuation, a solvability condition is established via the method of multiple scales for subharmonic resonance. Therefore, the amplitudes of steady-state periodic responses and their existence conditions are derived. The amplitudes of stable steady-state responses increase with the amplitude of the axial speed fluctuation, and decrease with the viscosity coefficient and the nonlinear coefficient. The minimum of the detuning parameter which causes the existence of a stable steady-state periodic response decreases with the amplitude of the axial speed fluctuation, and increases with the viscosity coefficient. Nu-merical solutions are sought via the finite difference scheme for a nonlinear par-tial-differential equation and a nonlinear integro-partial-differential equation. The calculation results qualitatively confirm the effects of the related parameters pre-dicted by the approximate analysis on the amplitude and the existence condition of the stable steady-state periodic responses. 14Modeling and power performance improvement of a piezoelectric energy harvester for low-frequency vibration environment显示文摘A novel oscillator structure, bimorph piezoelectric cantilever beam with two-stepped variable thicknesses,is proposed to improve the energy harvestingperformance of the vibration energy harvester (VEH) under low-frequency vibration environment. Firstly, the piezoelectric cantilever is segmented to obtain the energy functions based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam assumptions, and the Galerkin approach is utilized to discretize the energy functions. Applying boundary conditions and continuity conditions enforced at separation locations, the electromechanical coupled governing equations for the piezoelectric energy harvesterareintroduced by means of the Lagrange equations. Furthermore, the steady state response expressions are obtained for harmonic base excitations at arbitrary frequencies. Numerical results are computed and the effects ofthe lengths-ratio, thicknesses-ratio,end thicknessand load resistance on the output voltage, harvested power and power density are discussed. Moreover, to verify thecorrectness ofanalytical results, the finite element method (FEM)simulationis also conducted to analyze performance of the proposed VEH, where a good agreement is presented. 16Introduction of rice chitinase gene into wheat via low energy Ar^+ beam implantation显示文摘A chitinase gene (RCH8) in plasmid vector pCAMBIA1308 was delivered into 3 wheat cultivars (Yangmai 158, Wan 9210, Wanmai 32) by low energy Ar+ beam-mediated method. Preliminary calli from treated mature embryos were first selected on hygromycin (Hm, 20 or 30 mg/L) containing medium. After the resistant calli formed, they were transferred to the regeneration medium with 10 or 20 mg/L Hm. All the three wheat varieties obtained trans-genie plants. PCR and PCR-Southern assays showed that most plants regenerated from the resistant calli were positive transgenic plants. Southern blot of the positive green plants confirmed stable integration of alien DNA into wheat genome. The plant transformation frequencies varied with the variety and ion dose implanted. Wanmai 32 possessed the highest transformation frequency, reaching 3.8% at a suitable implantation dose. The transformation frequency of Yangmai 158 and Wan 9210 varied from 0.5% to 2.5% and from 0.5% to 1.4%, respectively. 18Additive manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V lattice structures with high structural integrity under large compressive deformation显示文摘Additively manufactured Ti-6 Al-4 V lattice structures have found important niche applications. However, they often show insufficient compressive ductility or insufficient structural integrity. In this study,a batch of 45 octahedral Ti-6 Al-4 V lattice structures was manufactured in three different strut diameters(0.5, 1.0, 1.5 mm) by selective electron beam melting(SEBM). The influence of post-SEBM annealing on the compressive deformation characteristics of the lattice structure was investigated. The as-built Ti-6 Al-4 V lattices fragmented when the compressive strain reached 13%–23% depending on strut diameter.Annealing at 950?C(β transus temperature: 995?C) only slightly improved the compressive ductility of the lattice structures. However, annealing at 1050?C(β-annealing) fundamentally changed the compressive deformation mode of the lattice structures. 19Cu_2ZnSnS_4 thin films prepared by sulfurization of ion beam sputtered precursor and their electrical and optical properties显示文摘Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films were successfully prepared by sulfurization of ion bean sputtered precursors on soda-lime glass substrate. The single phase of stannite-type structure CZTS films were obtained as revealed in EDS and XRD analysis when the ratios of the constituents of CZTS thin films are close to stoichiometric by optimizing the conditions of precursor preparation and sulfurization. A low sheet resistivity as about 0.156 Ω·cm and a high absorption coefficient as 1×104 cm-1 were achieved in this method by Hall effect measurements and UV-VIS spectrophotometer. 20Welding of nickel free high nitrogen stainless steel: Microstructure and mechanical properties显示文摘High nitrogen stainless steel(HNS) is a nickel free austenitic stainless steel that is used as a structural component in defence applications for manufacturing battle tanks as a replacement of the existing armour grade steel owing to its low cost, excellent mechanical properties and better corrosion resistance.Conventional fusion welding causes problems like nitrogen desorption, solidification cracking in weld zone, liquation cracking in heat affected zone, nitrogen induced porosity and poor mechanical properties.The above problems can be overcome by proper selection and procedure of joining process. In the present work, an attempt has been made to correlate the microstructural changes with mechanical properties of fusion and solid state welds of high nitrogen steel. Shielded metal arc welding(SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW), electron beam welding(EBW) and friction stir welding(FSW) processes were used in the present work. Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction were used to characterize microstructural changes. Hardness, tensile and bend tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical properties of welds. The results of the present investigation established that fully austenitic dendritic structure was found in welds of SMAW. Reverted austenite pools in the martensite matrix in weld zone and unmixed zones near the fusion boundary were observed in GTA welds. Discontinuous ferrite network in austenite matrix was observed in electron beam welds.Fine recrystallized austenite grain structure was observed in the nugget zone of friction stir welds.Improved mechanical properties are obtained in friction stir welds when compared to fusion welds.
