Heteroatom-doped porous carbon from methyl orange dye wastewater for oxygen reduction显示文摘Banana peel-derived porous carbon(BPPC) was prepared from banana peel and used as an adsorbent for methyl orange(MO) wastewater removal. BPPC-MO50 is a N,S-doped BPPC obtained via secondary carbonization. The BPPC-MO50 exhibited a high specific surface area of1774.3 m^2/g. Heteroatom-doped porous carbon(PC) was successfully synthesized from the BPPC absorbed MO at high temperature and used for oxygen reduction. The BPPC-MO50 displayed the highest ORR onset potential among all carbon-based electrocatalysts, i.e., 0.93 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE). This is the first report to describe porous carbon-activated materials from agriculture and forestry waste that is used for adsorption of dyes from wastewater via an enhanced heteroatom(N,S) content. These results may contribute to the sustainable development of dye wastewater treatment by transforming saturated PC into an effective material and has potential applications in fuel cells or as energy sources. | Yiqing Wang Mingyuan Zhu Yingchun Li Mengjuan Zhang Xueyan Xue Yulin Shi Bin Dai Xuhong Guo Feng Yu | 2018 | Green Energy & Environment2018,3,2: | 4
NiCo2O4 decorated PANI–CNTs composites as supercapacitive electrode materials显示文摘Hierarchical Ni Co_2O_4/PANI/CNTs hybrid composites were designed and fabricated having a layer of Ni Co_2O_4 on the surface of PANI encapsulated CNTs with different morphologies. Physicochemical attributes of the synthesized composites were examined by FTIR, UV–visible and X-ray diffraction(XRD)techniques. Morphological aspects were evaluated by field-emission scanning microscopy(FESEM),electron diffraction spectroscopy(EDS), high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) and selected area electron diffraction(SAED) studies. Electrochemical measurements revealed an improved specific capacitance of 2250 F/g at a scan rate of 5 m V/s and 2000 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g with good rate capability using a three-electrode system. These enhanced features are achieved from the well designed nanostructure and the synergistic contributions of individual components in the electrode material. | Gunjana Chaudhary Ashok K.Sharma Preetam Bhardwaj Kamal Kant Indu Kaushal Ajay K.Mishra | 2017 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2017,26,1: | 1
Laccase immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles by dopamine polymerization for 4-chlorophenol removal显示文摘In this work, a new immobilization method based on dopamine(DA) self-polymerization was developed for laccase immobilization on magnetic nanoparticles(Fe_3O_4 NPs). To optimize the immobilization condition including reaction pH, DA concentration and enzyme concentration, a central composite response surface method was applied. The optimal condition was determined as p H value of 5.92, laccase concentration of 0.25 mg mL^(-1) and DA concentration of 12.74 mg mL^(-1), under which a high enzyme activity recovery of 88.17% was obtained.By comparing with free laccase, the stabilities of immobilized laccase towards p H, thermostability, storage were enhanced significantly.Approximately 60% of relative activity for immobilized laccase was remained after being incubated for 6 h at 50℃, but the free laccase only remained 25%. After 40 days of storage at 4℃, the laccase immobilized by DA kept about 89% of its original activity, but the free laccase only retained 48%. After recycled 10 times, the relative activity of immobilized laccase still retained 70%. The immobilized laccase was then applied to catalyze the degradation of 4-chlorophenol(4-CP), 86% percentage of 4-CP was removed within 2 h. After degraded 10 times, the relative activity of immobilized laccase still remained 64% of its initial activity, which exhibits an excellent reusability and operational stability. | Di Zhang Manfeng Deng Hongbin Cao Songping Zhang He Zhao | 2017 | Green Energy & Environment2017,2,4: | 1
Hydrogen evolution kinetics on Ni cathodes modified by spontaneous deposition of Ag or Cu显示文摘Nickel modification by spontaneous deposition of transition metals such as Ag and Cu is shown as an economic and simple alternative for the activation of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) on cathodes in alkaline media. The kinetics of HER is studied on Ni/Ag and Ni/Cu catalysts by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) using a rotating disk electrode(RDE). Freshly synthesized catalysts, as well as catalysts subjected to a short chronoamperometric ageing procedure, are analyzed and the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the HER are obtained. The nickel surface modified with transition metals with an outer shell electronic configuration [xd^(10)(x+1)s^1], such as Cu(3d^(10)4s^1)and Ag(4d^(10)5s^1), shows an improved activity for the HER compared to bare nickel. Furthermore, the Ni/Cu catalyst presents a decreased onset potential. The hydrogen evolution rate, measured as current density at –1.5 V(vs. SCE), is similar on Ni/Cu and Ni/Ag electrodes. | Esteban A.Franceschini Gabriela I.Lacconi Horacio R.Corti | 2017 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2017,26,3: | 0
Answer to comments on “Fabrication and photovoltaic conversion enhancement of graphene/n-Si Schottky barrier solar cells by electrophoretic deposition”显示文摘Here,we reply to comments by Valentic et al.on our paper published in Electrochimica Acta(2014,130:279).They commented that Au nanoparticles played the dominant role on the whole cell's performances in our improved graphene/Si solar cell.We argued that our devices are Au-doped graphene/n-Si Schottky barrier devices, not Au nanoparticles(film)/n-Si Schottky barrier devices.During the doping process, most of the Au nanopatricles covered the surfaces of the graphene.Schottky barriers between doped graphene and n-Si dominate the total cells properties.Through doping,by adjusting and tailoring the Fermi level of the graphene, the Fermi level of n-Si can be shifted down in the graphene/Si Schottky barrier cell. They also argued that the instability of our devices were related to variation in series resistance reduced at the beginning due to slightly lowered Fermi level and increased at the end by the serf-compensation by deep in-diffusion of Au nanoparticles. But for our fabricated devices,we know that an oxide layer covered the Si surface, which makes it difficult for the Au ions to diffuse into the Si layer, due to the continuous growth of SiO_2 layer on the Si surface which resulted in series resistance decreasing at first and increasing in the end. | Leifeng Chen Hong He | 2017 | Journal of Semiconductors2017,38,4: | 0
Highly efficient and stable electrooxidation of methanol and ethanol on 3D Pt catalyst by thermal decomposition of In2O3 nanoshells显示文摘In this paper In_2O_3 nanoshells have been synthesized via a facile hydrothermal approach. The nanoshells can be completely cracked into pony-size nanocubes by annealing, which are then used as a support of Pt catalyst for methanol and ethanol electrocatalytic oxidation. The prepared In_2O_3 and supported Pt catalysts(Pt/In_2O_3) were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),field effect scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Cyclic voltammetry(CV),linear sweep voltammetry(LSV),chronoamperometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) were carried out, indicating the excellent catalytic performance for alcohol electrooxidation can be achieved on Pt/In_2O_3 nanocatalysts due to the multiple active sites, high conductivity and a mass of microchannels and micropores for reactant diffusions arising from 3D frame structures compared with that on the Pt/C catalysts. | Yuhang Xie Hulin Zhang Guang Yao Saeed Ahmed Khan Xiaojing Cui Min Gao Yuan Lin | 2017 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2017,26,1: | 0
