1Mechanical Properties and Interfacial Interaction of Modified Calcium Sulfate Whisker]Poly(Vinyl Chloride)Composites显示文摘Calcium sulfate whiskers(CSWs) modified with glutaraldehyde-crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) or traditional surface modifiers,including silane coupling agent,titanate coupling agent and stearic acid,were used to strengthen poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC),and the morphologies,mechanical and heat resistant properties of the resulting composites were compared.The results clearly show that glutaraldehyde cross-linked PVA modified CSW/PVC composite(c PVA@CSW/PVC) has the strongest interfacial interaction,good and stable mechanical and heat resistant properties.Nielsen's modified Kerner's equation for Young's modulus is better than other models examined for the CSW/PVC composites.The half debonding angle θ of c PVA@CSW/PVC composite is lower than that of other composites except silane coupling agent modified CSW/PVC composites,indicating a very strong interfacial adhesion between c PVA@CSW and PVC.In general,cross-linked PVA is effective and environmentally friendly in modifying inorganic fillers.Wenjin Yuan Jiayang Cui Shiai Xu 2016Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,12:5
2Tribological Investigation of HDPE-cuttlebone and HDPE-red Coral Composites显示文摘In this paper,the tribological properties of cuttlebone(CB)-reinforced high density polyethylene(HDPE)and Red Coral(RC)-reinfbrced HDPE composites were investigated.The composite specimens were prepared with a hot compression molding machine using different weight proportions of fillers blended with HDPE.The tribological behavior of the composite disks was studied using pin-on-disk tribometer under dry condition against stainless steel M30NW pins.The coefficient of friction as well as wear rate were examined to study the effects of the two fillers on the tribological perfonnance of both composites.After wear tests,different composites were examined using a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM).It was fbund that the use of cuttlebone(CB)and Red Coral(RC)as reinforcement improved the tribological properties of HDPE.Amira Salem Walid Bensalah Salah Mezlini 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,6:0
3Compressive Mechanical Characteristics of Multi-layered Gradient Hydroxyapatite Reinforced Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) Gel Biomaterial显示文摘Functional gradient materials provided us a new concept for artificial articular cartilage design with gradient component and gradient structure where one side of the material is high free water content thereby providing excellent lubrication function and the opposite side of the material is high hydroxyapatite content,thereby improving the bioactivity of the material and stimulating cell growth.The goal of the present study was to develop a multi-layered gradient HA/PVA gel biocomposites through layer-by-layer casting method combing with freeze/thaw cycle technology.The various influence factors on the compressive strength and modulus of the multi-layered gradient biocomposites were investigated.The results showed that the compressive mechanical characteristics of the biocomposites were similar to that of natural articular cartilage.Both the compressive strength and modulus of the multi-layered gradient HA/PVA gel biocomposites increased exponentially with the rise of compressive strain ratio.Both the compressive strength and average compressive modulus of the biocomposites improved with the rise of freeze/thaw cycle times and total concentration of HA particles in the biocomposites,but they showed decreasing tendency with the rise of HA concentration difference between adjacent layers.Yusong Pan Qianqian Shen Chengling Pan Jing Wang 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,6:0
