1Effect of Static Mgnetic Fields on the Recalescence Behavior of Undercooled Co-Sn Liquid显示文摘The recalescence behavior of undercooled Co-Sn alloys under static magnetic fields was investigated using glass slag fluxing technique in a 12T superconducting magnet.Results indicated that the nucleation temperature and the highest temperature after recalescence of undercooled melt can be affected by the static magnetic field.The undercooling for Co-Sn alloys keep unchanged when a strong magnetic field was applied while the recalescence extent was reduced.With the increasing Co content for Co-Sn eutectic systems,the effect of the magnetic field on the recalescence was strengthened.We find that the magnetic field has very limited effect on the nucleation temperature on alloys while the highest temperature after recalescence is affected by the field depending on the magnetization difference of the undercooled melt before and after solidification.WANG Jun BEAUGNON Eric LI Jin-shan HU Rui RIVOIRARD Sophie SULPICE Andre 2012Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,S2:0
2Effect of High Magnetic Field on Nucleation and Growth of Primary Phase in Hypoeutectic Binary Alloys显示文摘The nucleation and growth behaviors of primary Al phase in two hypoeutectic binary alloys of Al-20.8%Cu and Al-3%Ni in high static magnetic fields were investigated with aid of differential thermal analysis(DTA).The DTA curves indicated that the nucleation temperature of primary crystals in two alloys decreased with increase of the magnetic field intensity and their nucleation was retarded in the magnetic field.The dendrite morphology showed that primary dendrites grew from disorderly without the magnetic field to regularly with the field.The retardation of nucleation of primary Al crystals was mainly caused by increase of interracial free energy.The change in dendrite morphology could be attributed to suppression of melt flows in the magnetic field.LI Chuan-jun REN Zhong-ming REN Wei-li WU Yu-qin 2012Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,S1:0
