1Preliminary study on aftershock decay rate of the 2013 Ms 7.0 Lushan earthquake显示文摘We obtained a catalog of early aftershocks of the 2013 Lushan earthquake by examining waveform from a nearby station MDS which is 30.2 km far away from the epicenter,and then we analyzed the relation between aftershock rate and time.We used time-window ratio method to identify aftershocks from continuous waveform data and compare the result with the catalog provided by China Earthquake Networks Center(CENC).As expected,a significant amount of earthquakes is missing in CENC catalog in the 24 h after the main shock.Moreover,we observed a steady seismicity rate of aftershocks nearly in the first 10,000 s before an obvious power-law decay of aftershock activity.We consider this distinct early stage which does not fit the Omori law with a constant p(p*1)value as early aftershock deficiency(EAD),as proposed by previous studies.Our study suggests that the main shock rupture process is different from aftershocks’processes,and EAD can vary in different cases as compared to earthquakes of strike-slip mechanism in California.Zhe Jia Weiwen Chen Risheng Chu 2013Earthquake Science2013,26,3:1
2Relocating ruptures of two M6 earthquakes in Zhongba, South-central Tibet in 2004 and 2005 with seismological and geodetic methods显示文摘To better understand repeatability of strong earthquakes in previously ruptured zones during one seismogenic period, we studied the rupture zones of the doublet of M6 earthquakes in Zhongba region of southcentral Tibet, China, in 11 July 2004 and 7 April 2005, respectively. We focused on the overlapping degree of two strong quakes' aftershock areas one week after the mainshocks by using the SQH station in China Seismic Network and a 68-stations temporary broadband seismic array, a part of the international HI-CLIMB project. About 115 local earthquakes were recorded in one week after the mainquakes, and we located these earthquakes by master event relative location (MERL) method. We also used this method to relocate 31 other M3.7 + earthquakes from 1 July 2004 to 1 July 2005. Meanwhile, we studied two mainshocks' coseismic ruptures with satellite interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). Our results show that the ruptured zones of the two earthquakes do not overlapp substantially, either from early aftershock data or from InSAR inversions.Feng Bao Yingjie Zha Zhenjie Wang 2011Earthquake Science2011,24,2:0
