1Effect of atorvastatin on expression of TLR4 and NF-κB p65 in atherosclerotic rabbits显示文摘Objective:To study the effect of atorvastatin on atherosclerotic rabbits.Methods:A total of 60 Now Zealand male rabbits were randomly divided into the normal group,model group and atorvastatin group.The replication rabbit atherosclerotic model with immune injury combined with a high fat diet feeding was used.All rabbits were sacrificed after 3 months.TLR4 and NF-κB p65 were observed by HE staining,immunohistochemistry and western blotting.Results: The expression of TLR4,NF- k B p65 were significantly increased in the model group compared widi the normal group.The expression of TI.R4 and NK- k B p65 decreased significantly in the atorvastatin group,and there was no difference compared with the normal group.Conclusions: The effect of atorvastatin on adierosclerosis may be achieved by the inhibition of the expression of TLK4 and NF-κB p65.Ding-Zhu Shen San-Li Xin Chuan Chen Te Liu 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,6:8
2Adansonia digitata L.(baobab):a review of traditional information and taxonomic description显示文摘Adansonia digitata L.(Malvaceae) is commonly known as baobab tree native to Africa.Baobab is a multi-purpose tree which offers protection and provides food,clothing and medicine as well as raw material for many useful items.The fruit pulp,seeds,leaves,flowers.roots,and bark of baobab are edible and they have been studied by scientists for their useful properties.The fruit pulp have very high vitamin C.calcium,phosphorus,carbohydrates,fibers,potassium,proteins and lipids content,which can be used in seasoning as an appetizer and also make juices.Seeds contain appreciable quantities of phosphorus,magnesium,zinc,sodium,iron,manganese,whereas they have high levels of lysine,thiamine,calcium and iron.Baobab has numerous biological properties including antimicrobial,anti-malarial,diarrhoea,anaemia,asthma,antiviral,anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities amongst others.Phytochemical investigation revealed the presence of flavonoids.phytosterols.amino acids,fatty acids,vitamins and minerals.The review summarizes the information on various aspects of traditional information,taxonomic description,medicinal properties and importantly nutritional value.Jitin Rahul Manish Kumar Jain Shishu Pal Singh Rakesh Kant Kama Anuradha Aliya Naz Anup Kumar Gupta Sujeet Kumar Mrityunjay 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,1:4
3Studies on the anti-asthmatic and antitussive properties of aqueous leaf extract of Bryophyllum pinnatum in rodent species显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the antiasthmatic and antitussive properties of the aqueous leaf extract of Bryophyilum pinnatum {B.pinnatum)(BP) Lam.Methods:Ovalbiunin-sensilized guinea pigs which were treated with BP for 21 consecutive days were exposed to 0.2%histamine aerosol in a glass chamber.Mucus viscosity,white blood cell and lymphocyte counts and tracheal wall morphometry were measured.Bouts of cough were counted pre and post acute exposure of extract-treated(X7 d) guinea pigs to 7.5%citric acid aerosol in a chamber.Phenol red expectoration was estimated in mice after 7 d of daily administration of BP.Results:Doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg/day(×21 d) BP significantly increased the time for guinea pigs to experience preconvulsive dyspnoea.BP and salbutamol(0.5 mg/kg/day×21 d) reduced mucus viscosity in the sensitized group to values comparable with controls.White blood cell,lymphocyte counts and tracheal morphometry were not significantly altered.Both doses of BP also significantly reduced the bouts of cough but only 400 mg/kg/day significantly inhibited the amount of phenol red secreted.Conclusions:BP has demonstrated antiasthmatic and antitussive properties in these rodent models.These properties may underscore its use in Nigerian ethnomedicine.Edward O Salami Raymond I Ozolua Stephen O Okpo Gerald I Eze Dickson O Uwaya 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,6:2
4Effect of Chinese herbal medicine on lung disease:an updated review显示文摘A large number of people worldwide suffer from pulmonary disorders,and their prevalence is on the rise.Although we have gained a greater understanding of the basis of respiratory airway disorders,the treatments and therapies available for those disorders have not progressed historically.Supplements to existing therapies are made from traditional natural derivatives and herbal medicines.Natural compounds such as these are capable of acting as the basis for developing new drugs and related treatments.Plants possess bioactive compounds that have distinct advantages over allopathic medicines because chemotherapy roots severe adverse effects rather than providing limited benefits.As a result of better effects and fewer adverse effects,herbal bioactive is a promising approach for treating respiratory disorders,resulting in a better quality of life and longer life expectancy for patients.Asthma,pulmonary fibrosis,lung cancer,and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are among the pulmonary disorders addressed in the present article and approaches based on clinical trials.Virender Kumar Davinder Kumar Naveen Khatri Ashwani Kumar Joginder Khurana 2022Cancer Advances2022,5,27:0
