1Emerging potential of exosomes for treatment of traumatic brain injury显示文摘Traumatic brain injury(TBI) is one of the major causes of death and disability worldwide.No effective treatment has been identified from clinical trials.Compelling evidence exists that treatment with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) exerts a substantial therapeutic effect after experimental brain injury.In addition to their soluble factors,therapeutic effects of MSCs may be attributed to their generation and release of exosomes.Exosomes are endosomal origin small-membrane nano-sized vesicles generated by almost all cell types.Exosomes play a pivotal role in intercellular communication.Intravenous delivery of MSC-derived exosomes improves functional recovery and promotes neuroplasticity in rats after TBI.Therapeutic effects of exosomes derive from the exosome content,especially micro RNAs(mi RNAs).mi RNAs are small non-coding regulatory RNAs and play an important role in posttranscriptional regulation of genes.Compared with their parent cells,exosomes are more stable and can cross the blood-brain barrier.They have reduced the safety risks inherent in administering viable cells such as the risk of occlusion in microvasculature or unregulated growth of transplanted cells.Developing a cell-free exosome-based therapy may open up a novel approach to enhancing multifaceted aspects of neuroplasticity and to amplifying neurological recovery,potentially for a variety of neural injuries and neurodegenerative diseases.This review discusses the most recent knowledge of exosome therapies for TBI,their associated challenges and opportunities.Ye Xiong Asim Mahmood Michael Chopp 2017Neural Regeneration Research2017,12,1:22

3Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase: As a potential prognostic marker and immunotherapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Tumor cells induce an immunosuppressive microen-vironment which leads towards tumor immune escape. Understanding the intricacy of immunomodulation by tumor cells is essential for immunotherapy. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase(IDO) is an immunosuppressive enzyme which mediates tumor immune escape in various cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). IDO up-regulation in HCC may lead to recruitment of regulatory T-cells into tumor microenvironment and therefore inhibit local immune responses and promote metastasis. HCC associated fibroblasts stimulate natural killer cells dysfunction through prostaglandin E2 and subsequently IDO promotes favorable condition for tumor metastasis. IDO up-regulation induces immuno-suppression and may enhance the risk of hepatitis C virus and hepatitis B virus induced HCC. Therefore, IDO inhibitors as adjuvant therapeutic agents may have clinical implications in HCC. 4Recent advances in diagnostic upper endoscopy显示文摘BACKGROUND Esophageo-gastro-duodenoscopy(EGD)is an important procedure used for detection and diagnosis of esophago-gastric lesions.There exists no consensus on the technique of examination.AIM To identify recent advances in diagnostic EGDs to improve diagnostic yield.METHODS We queried the PubMed database for relevant articles published between January 2001 and August 2019 as well as hand searched references from recently published endoscopy guidelines.Keywords used included free text and MeSH terms addressing quality indicators and technological innovations in EGDs.Factors affecting diagnostic yield and EGD quality were identified and divided into the follow segments:Pre endoscopy preparation,sedation,examination schema,examination time,routine biopsy,image enhanced endoscopy and future developments.RESULTS We identified 120 relevant abstracts of which we utilized 67 of these studies in our review.Adequate pre-endoscopy preparation with simethicone and pronase increases gastric visibility.Proper sedation,especially with propofol,increases patient satisfaction after procedure and may improve detection of superficial gastrointestinal lesions.There is a movement towards mandatory picture documentation during EGD as well as dedicating sufficient time for examination improves diagnostic yield.The use of image enhanced endoscopy and magnifying endoscopy improves detection of squamous cell carcinoma and gastric neoplasm.The magnifying endoscopy simple diagnostic algorithm is useful for diagnosis of early gastric cancer.CONCLUSION There is a steady momentum in the past decade towards improving diagnostic yield,quality and reporting in EGDs.Other interesting innovations,such as Raman spectroscopy,endocytoscopy and artificial intelligence may have widespread endoscopic applications in the near future.Jun-Liang Teh Asim Shabbir Soon Yuen Jimmy Bok-Yan So 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,4:15

6Mainstreaming Early Warning Systems in Development and Planning Processes: Multilevel Implementation of Sendai Framework in Indus and Sahel显示文摘The third UN World Congress on Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Sendai, Japan in March 2015, agreed on a new framework to guide disaster risk reduction policy and practice for the next 15 years. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030(SFDRR) leaves important implementation issues unspecified and potentially creates both problems and opportunities for complex,multilevel governance systems in coping with hazards and disastrous events. Early warning systems(EWS), if built into the mainstream of planning for development and disaster relief and recovery, could present a significant opportunity to realize many SFDRR goals. We explore the complexities of using hydrometeorological EWS to prepare for drought and flood disasters in the densely populated communities of Pakistan’s Indus River Basin in contrast to the African Sahel’s less densely settled grasslands. Multilevel governance systems are often dominated by a topdown, technocentric, centralized management bias and have great difficulty responding to the needs of peripheral and vulnerable populations. 7Photosynthesis, Growth and Antioxidant Metabolism in Mustard (Brassica juncea L.) Cultivars Differing in Cadmium Tolerance显示文摘Two mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern and Coss.) cultivars, Pusa Jai Kisan and SS2 differing in cadmium (Cd) tolerance were treated with 0, 25 and 50 μmol L-1 Cd to study the physiological basis of difference in Cd tolerance. Cultivar SS2 (Cd sensitive) accumulated greater Cd in leaves than Pusa Jai Kisan (Cd tolerant). Further, SS2 also exhibited higher contents of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and H2O2 and electrolyte leakage. However, the activities of antioxidant enzymes, catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR), and glutathione reductase (GR) were higher in Pusa Jai Kisan than those in SS2. Contrarily, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was higher in SS2 than that in Pusa Jai Kisan and was the greatest at 25 μmol L-1 Cd. Treatment of 25 μmol L-1 Cd induced the maximum activity of enzymes. However, the activity of GR increased up to 50 μmol L-1 Cd in both the cultivars. The non-enzymatic antioxidants ascorbate (AsA) and glutathione (GSH) were higher in Pusa Jai Kisan than that in SS2, whereas dehydroascorbate (DHA) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG) were higher in SS2. Photosynthesis and growth were adversely and maximally decreased by 50 μmol L-1 Cd treatment in both the cultivars, but SS2 exhibited greater reductions. The protection of photosynthesis and growth and lesser reduction in Pusa Jai Kisan were associated with its capacity to restrict accumulation of Cd in leaves resulting in lower level of TBARS and H2O2 and electrolyte leakage. 8柴达木盆地昆特依盐湖沉积特征及其盐类资源评价显示文摘昆特依盐湖位于柴达木盆地西北部,是一个相对独立的沉积盆地,可反映盆地西北部的演化历史,对研究盆地内盐湖演化有重要意义。基于研究区已有的研究成果,总结和评价了昆特依盐湖沉积与盐类矿产资源,并得到以下结论:1)昆特依湖自1925~774 ka期间以暖湿型气候为主,其后呈干冷与暖湿气候交替出现,最早成盐期为1150 ka,最终于30.6 ka成为干盐湖。昆特依盆地早期沉积的细碎屑沉积物沉积速率(0.22 mm/a)慢于晚期沉积的石盐层(0.33 mm/a);2)昆特依盐湖液体KCl储量为1.32×10^8 t,MgCl储量为2.79×10^8 t,NaCl储量为24.15×10^8 t;3)估算出赋存于昆特依盐湖石盐矿中的锂资源量达39×10^4 t,同时估算出液体中的锂资源量约有74×104 t,二者总量达百万吨;4)昆特依矿田的成因属典型的内陆湖相沉积,成矿控制因素以构造作用为主,其次为气候及物质来源。关于昆特依盐湖沉积特征与盐类矿产资源特征的研究,有利于对本地区地质演化更全面的认识,对合理开发利用盐类资源有重要意义。马喆 韩凤清 易磊 张光武 卢胜城 卢晓航 Syed Asim Hussain 孙宇强 韩光 袁文虎 2020盐湖研究2020,28,1:8

11Comparison of visual acuity, refractive results and complications of femtosecond laser with mechanical microkeratome in LASIK显示文摘AIM: To compare the outcomes of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) performed with a femtosecond laser (Femtec, Technolas Perfect Vision GmbH, Germany) versus a mechanical microkeratome (Hansatome, Bausch and Lomb, USA) for the correction of myopia and astigmatism. ·METHODS: In this retrospective study, patients who had undergone LASIK using the 80 -kHz Femtec femtosecond laser were compared to age- and refraction- matched patients in whom the Hansatome microkeratome was used. Refractive and visual results 1 month and 3 months postoperatively, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. ·RESULTS: A total of 280 eyes were analyzed (140 in each group). At 3 months postoperatively in the Femtec vs Hansatome group, spherical equivalent refraction was within ±1.00D of emmetropia in 140 vs 138 eyes (P = 0.498), the cylinder was within ±0.50D in 137 vs 139 eyes (P =0.622), and the UDVA was 20/20 or better in 136 vs 137 eyes (P =0.724), respectively. 12Evaluation of sugar and organic acid composition and their levels in highbush blueberries from two regions of China显示文摘Sweet and sour are the most important taste of blueberries,and they are produced by sugar and acid,respectively.Their contributions to the taste depend not only on the levels of sugar and acid,but also on the types and relative proportions of sugar and acid.Therefore,it is very important to evaluate the composition and levels of sugar and acid in blueberries.Regional differences and variety diversity also affect the sugar and acid characteristics of fruits.Therefore,this study selected two main producing regions in northern China(Weihai and Yingkou)to examine the sugar and acid characteristics of 11 common blueberry cultivars.The indexes measured included soluble sugars,organic acids,soluble solid content and titratable acidity.The results showed that glucose and fructose were the major sugars,and citric acid and quinic acid were the major organic acids.Correlation analysis showed that glucose,fructose,and sucrose were positively correlated with total sugar content;the citric acid content was positively correlated with the titratable acidity and total organic acids.Titratable acidity,glucose,fructose,sucrose,total sugar content,citric acid,shikimic acid and total acid content of the blueberries varied significantly between regions(P<0.05).In general,compared with Weihai blueberries,Yingkou blueberries had higher sugar content and lower acid content.The results of this study may provide useful references for the evaluation of sweet and sour flavors and cultivar selection of blueberries.ZHANG Jia NIE Ji-yun LI Jing ZHANG Hui LI Ye Saqib FAROOQ Syed Asim Shah BACHA WANG Jie 2020Journal of Integrative Agriculture2020,19,9:6
13Imaging of the temporomandibular joint: An update显示文摘Imaging of the temporomandibular joint(TMJ) is continuously evolving with advancement of imaging technologies. Many different imaging modalities are currently used to evaluate the TMJ. Magnetic resonance imaging is commonly used for evaluation of the TMJ due to its superior contrast resolution and its ability to acquire dynamic imaging for demonstration of the functionality of the joint. Computed tomography and ultrasound imaging have specific indication in imaging of the TMJ. This article focuses on state of the art imaging of the temporomandibular joint. Relevant normal anatomy and biomechanics of movement of the TMJ are discussed for better understanding of many TMJ pathologies. Imaging of internal derangements is discussed in detail. 15Impact of immunosuppression on incidence of post-transplant diabetes mellitus in solid organ transplant recipients:Systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Solid organ transplantation is a life-saving intervention for end-stage organ disease.Post-transplant diabetes mellitus(PTDM)is a common complication in solid organ transplant recipients,and significantly compromises long-term survival beyond a year.AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate incidence of PTDM and compare the effects of the 3 major immunosuppressants on incidence of PTDM.METHODS Two hundred and six eligible studies identified 75595 patients on Tacrolimus,51242 on Cyclosporine and 3020 on Sirolimus.Random effects meta-analyses was used to calculate incidence.RESULTS Network meta-analysis estimated the overall risk of developing PTDM was higher with tacrolimus(OR=1.495%CI:1.0–2.0)and sirolimus(OR=1.8;95%CI:1.5–2.2)than with Cyclosporine.The overall incidence of PTDM at years 2-3 was 17%for kidney,19%for liver and 22%for heart.The risk factors for PTDM most frequently identified in the primary studies were age,body mass index,hepatitis C,and African American descent.CONCLUSION Tacrolimus tends to exhibit higher diabetogenicity in the short-term(2-3 years post-transplant),whereas sirolimus exhibits higher diabetogenicity in the longterm(5-10 years post-transplant).This study will aid clinicians in recognition of risk factors for PTDM and encourage careful evaluation of the risk/benefit of different immunosuppressant regimens in transplant recipients.Sreelakshmi Kotha Bishoy Lawendy Saira Asim Charlene Gomes Jeffrey Yu Ani Orchanian-Cheff George Tomlinson Mamatha Bhat 2021World Journal of Transplantation2021,11,10:5
16形状特征和置信传播在去除SIFT特征点错误匹配中的应用显示文摘针对SIFT特征点匹配错误问题,提出一种置信传播与特征点形状特征相结合去除SIFT特征点匹配错误的算法.该算法分为4步:1)根据每个特征点的尺度信息、主方向信息以及匹配邻居特征点信息确定每个特征点邻域窗口的大小和方向,并计算每个特征点在邻域窗口内匹配邻居构成的形状特征;2)连接每个特征点与其最近的3个邻居特征点,构成置信传播网的基本框架;3)利用每对待确定特征点对的特征描述符之间的距离与其形状特征之间的距离生成置信传播网的证据函数,利用每对待确定特征点对与其邻居之间的空间关系生成置信传播网的相容函数;4)迭代计算每个特征点的置信度以及传递给邻居的消息,直至整个网络收敛,并通过最后得到的置信度确定初始匹配特征点对是否为误配.利用真实拍摄的图像和牛津几何视觉组数据库中的图像进行仿真实验,并与RANSAC算法、GTM算法以及BP_SIFT算法进行了比较,仿真结果表明,在召回率、准确率、丢失率和效率上,文中算法总体上优于上述3种算法.翟凤文 党建武 王阳萍 罗维薇 Muhammad Azim Asim 2016计算机辅助设计与图形学学报2016,28,3:5
17Predisposing factors, clinical assessment, management and outcomes of agitation in the trauma intensive care unit显示文摘BACKGROUND: Agitation occurs frequently among critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU). We aimed to evaluate the frequency, predisposing factors and outcomes of agitation in trauma ICU. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted to include patients who were admitted to the trauma ICU between April 2014 and March 2015. Data included patient's demographics, initial vitals, associated injuries, Ramsey Sedation Scale, Glasgow Coma Scale, head injury lesions, use of sedatives and analgesics, head interventions, ventilator days, and ICU length of stay. Patients were divided into two groups based on the agitation status.RESULTS: A total of 102 intubated patients were enrolled; of which 46(45%) experienced agitation. Patients in the agitation group were 7 years younger, had significantly lower GCS and sustained higher frequency of head injuries(P<0.05). Patients who developed agitation were more likely to be prescribed propofol alone or in combination with midazolam and to have frequent ICP catheter insertion, longer ventilatory days and higher incidence of pneumonia(P<0.05). On multivariate analysis, use of propofol alone(OR=4.97; 95% CI=1.35–18.27), subarachnoid hemorrhage(OR=5.11; 95% CI=1.38–18.91) and ICP catheter insertion for severe head injury(OR=4.23; 95% CI=1.16–15.35) were independent predictors for agitation(P<0.01).CONCLUSION: Agitation is a frequent problem in trauma ICU and is mainly related to the type of sedation and poor outcomes in terms of prolonged mechanical ventilation and development of nosocomial pneumonia. 19应用核磁共振技术分析干盐湖地区地下卤水空间分布特征--以昆特依干盐湖为例显示文摘昆特依干盐湖位于柴达木盆地西北部,为特大型综合盐类矿床.大盐滩是昆特依干盐湖内最大的盐滩,地下赋存有一定量的卤水矿床,但该矿床的水文地质条件差,主要卤水矿层含水性弱,开采难度大.核磁共振找水方法作为当今世界上唯一的直接找水地球物理新方法,具有高分辨力、高效率、信息量丰富和解的唯一性等优点,本文运用该方法对昆特依干盐滩地区地下卤水空间分布特征进行研究,通过对核磁共振数据进行处理与反演,结合已有的地质与钻井资料,对测点进行综合地质-地球物理解释,获得以下认识:1)大盐滩0~130 m深度范围内,共存在3个卤水含水层,主要呈扁平状或漏斗状、近似层状展布,W1为晶间潜卤水层,渗透系数较大,颗粒较粗,单位体积含水量为0.4%~2.7%,W2和W3为晶间承压卤水层,渗透系数较小,颗粒较粗,单位体积含水量分别为0.2%~1.1%和0.1%~0.8%;2)大盐滩地区存在两个卤水富集区,分别为研究区西南部沉积盆地中心的Ⅰ号富卤区和盆地东北部的Ⅱ号富卤区;3)根据区域内卤水富集分布以及构造情况,划定大盐滩向斜沉积中心、大盐滩北侧F1~F8及遥F6断裂发育区和冷湖构造带为区域内主要的找矿找水远景区;4)GMR核磁共振系统在干盐滩地区理论探测深度为130 m,该系统不仅可以有效地探测自由水,而且可以依据束缚水的分布解译地下各类含水盐类矿物和含水黏土矿物的存在与分布.杨修猛 刘文玉 韩凤清 韩继龙 Hussain Syed Asim 年秀清 毛庆飞 严维德 2018湖泊科学2018,30,1:4
20An estimation of stress intensity factor in a clamped SE(T) specimen through numerical simulation and experimental verification:case of FCGR of AISI H11 tool steel显示文摘A finite element analysis of stress intensity factors(K I) in clamped SE(T)C specimens(dog bone profile) is presented.A J-integral approach is used to calculate the values of stress intensity factors valid for 0.125≤a/W ≤0.625.A detailed comparison is made with the work of other researchers on rectangular specimens.Different boundary conditions are explored to best describe the real conditions in the laboratory.A sensitivity study is also presented to explore the effects of variation in specimen position in the grips of the testing machine.Finally the numerically calculated SIF is used to determine an FCGR curve for AISI H11 tool steel on SE(T)C specimens and compared with C(T) specimen of the same material.Masood Shah Catherine Mabru Farhad Rezai-Aria Ines Souki Riffat Asim Pasha 2012Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2012,25,4:4
