1Kaili Biota: A Taphonomic Window on Diversification of Metazoans from the Basal Middle Cambrian: Guizhou, China显示文摘A Burgess Shale-type biota is, in part, characterized by a wide diversity of taxa and soft-part preservation. Each provides unique historical insights into early metazoan evolution. Among the more than 40 globally distributed biotas, the early Cambrian Chengjiang and Middle Cambrian Burgess-type biotas are the largest. The Kaili Biota, from the earliest Middle Cambrian of Guizhou, China, contains representatives of 110 metazoan genera belonging to 10 phyla. It contains many well-persevered soft-bodied specimens. This Chinese biota has become the third most taxonomically diverse Burgess Shale-type fauna. Because the Kaili Biota formed in an outer-shelf environment, its main faunal character is large numbers of eocrinoids and planktoic trilobites. The Kaili is younger than the Chengjiang Biota but older than the Canadian Burgess Shale Biota; it shares 30 genera with the Chengjiang and 38 genera with the Burgess Biota. The Kaili Biota displays a taphonomic window to the diversification and evolution of marine offshore organisms covering 5.13 million years between the Early and Middle Cambrian.ZHAO Yuanlong ZHU Maoyan Loren E. 2Antidiabetic Effects of Gegen Qinlian Decoction via the Gut Microbiota Are Attributable to Its Key Ingredient Berberine显示文摘Gegen Qinlian Decoction(GQD),a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)formula,has long been used for the treatment of common metabolic diseases,including type 2 diabetes mellitus.However,the main limitation of its wider application is ingredient complexity of this formula.Thus,it is critically important to identify the major active ingredients of GQD and to illustrate mechanisms underlying its action.Here,we compared the effects of GQD and berberine,a hypothetical key active pharmaceutical ingredient of GQD,on a diabetic rat model by comprehensive analyses of gut microbiota,short-chain fatty acids,proinflammatory cytokines,and ileum transcriptomics.Our results show that berberine and GQD had similar effects on lowering blood glucose levels,modulating gut microbiota,inducing ileal gene expression,as well as relieving systemic and local inflammation.As expected,both berberine and GQD treatment significantly altered the overall gut microbiota structure and enriched many butyrate-producing bacteria,including Faecalibacterium and Roseburia,thereby attenuating intestinal inflammation and lowering glucose.Levels of short-chain fatty acids in rat feces were also significantly elevated after treatment with berberine or GQD.Moreover,concentration of serum proinflammatory cytokines and expression of immune-related genes,including Nfkb1,Stat1,and Ifnrg1,in pancreatic islets were significantly reduced after treatment.Our study demonstrates that the main effects of GQD can be attributed to berberine via modulating gut microbiota.The strategy employed would facilitate further standardization and widespread application of TCM in many diseases.Xizhan Xu Zezheng Gao Fuquan Yang Yingying Yang Liang Chen Lin Han Na Zhao Jiayue Xu Xinmiao Wang Yue Ma Lian Shu Xiaoxi Hu Na Lyu Yuanlong Pan Baoli Zhu Linhua Zhao Xiaolin Tong Jun Wang 2020Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2020,18,6:29
3Progress and significance in research on the early Middle Cambrian Kaili Biota, Guizhou Province, China显示文摘Important progress in research on the Kaili Biota has been made recently. Many interesting components from Chengjiang Biota and Burgess Shale Biota have been discovered, e.g. Microdictyon of lobopodia; Ottoia, Palaeoscolex of worms; Naraoia, Marrella of Trilobitioidea, Mollisonia, anamalocarids and other non-trilobite arthropods; and new sorts of echinoder-mas, macroalage fossils and so on. Recent work on the Kaili Biota has resulted in the following developments: (i) an increase in the number of animal genera, up to more than 100 genera in total, so that the Kaili Biota has become the third most diverse of the Burgess Shale-type Biota after the Burgess Shale and Chengjiang Biotas; and (ii) the most noteworthy fossils in the Kaili Biota are echinoderms, non-trilobite arthropods and soft-bodied medusiform fossils, especially the most diverse echinoderms. The progress provides envidence for the biodiversity of marine organisms presented after the 'Cambrian Explosion' and serves as a link between the earlist Cambrian Chengjiang Biota and late early Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale Biota. 4Discovery of sponge body fossils from the late Meishucunian (Cambrian) at Jinsha, Guizhou, south China显示文摘Here we report discovery of a sponge body fossil Triticispongia sp. from the base of lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation at Jinsha, Guizhou. Stratigraphically, the fossil horizon is located below Ni-Mo ore layer with the Niutitang Biota above, and is equivalent to the late Meishucunian. The species is global in shape with skeletons composed of stauractins and monaxons. 6New Bradoriid Arthropods from the Early Cambrian Balang Formation of Eastern Guizhou, South China显示文摘The Early Cambrian Balang Formation is comprised of mudrock and shale, which was deposited in a shelf environment in the eastern part of Guizhou, south China. The Balang Fauna, which consists of seven phyla, occurs in the middle and upper parts of the Balang Formation. Arthropods are important constituents of the Balang Fauna and include a great number of trilobites, large bivalved arthropods, and newly-discovered well-preserved bradoriid fossils. The bradoriids present include three genera and four species : Comptaluta inflata (Cheng, 1974) emend Hou et al., 2002; Comptaluta kailiensis sp. nov., and Alutella elongeta sp. nov., Aluta sp. This faunal assemblage in the Balang Formation is distinguished from the Tsunyiella Chang, 1964, Songlinella Yin, 1978 and Kunmingella Hou, 1956 assemblage which occurs in the Niutitang and Mingxinsi formations of the Yangtze Platform in middle region of Guizhou and which is earlier than the Balang Formation in age. However, this assemblage resembles the Comptaluta pik, 1968 assemblage from the Early Cambrian Heilinpu Formation in Wuding County, Yuanan Province and from the Ordian Stage of the Cambrian of Australia. The great abundance of Comptaluta pik, 1968 and overall taxonomic diversity of the Comptaluta pik, 1968 assemblage set it distinctly apart from the Alutella Kobayashi et Kato, 1951 and Aluta Hou, 1956 assemblages of the Balang Formation. Alutella Kobayashi et Kato, 1951 and Aluta Hou, 1956 also occur in the Early Cambrian Niutitang Formation of the Yangtze Platform of Guizhou. Individual Bradoriids from the Balang Formation are characterized by large size (>3 mm). 7Phosphate removal from domestic wastewater using thermally modified steel slag显示文摘This study was performed to investigate the removal of phosphate from domestic wastewater using a modified steel slag as the adsorbent. The adsorption effects of alkalinity, salt, water,and thermal modification were investigated. The results showed that thermal activation at 800℃ for 1 hr was the optimum operation to improve the adsorption capacity. The adsorption process of the thermally modified slag was well described by the Elovich kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity calculated from the Langmuir model reached 13.62 mg/g. Scanning electron microscopy indicated that the surface of the modified slag was cracked and that the texture became loose after heating. The surface area and pore volume did not change after thermal modification. In the treatment of domestic wastewater, the modified slag bed(35.5 kg) removed phosphate effectively and operated for 158 days until the effluent P rose above the limit concentration of 0.5 mg/L. The phosphate fractionation method, which is often applied in soil research, was used to analyze the phosphate adsorption behavior in the slag bed. The analysis revealed that the total contents of various Ca–P forms accounted for 81.4%–91.1%, i.e., Ca10–P 50.6%–65.1%, Ca8–P 17.8%–25.0%,and Ca2–P 4.66%–9.20%. The forms of Al–P, Fe–P, and O–P accounted for only 8.9%–18.6%. 9Comprehensive Characterization of miRNA and PHAS Loci in the Diploid Strawberry(Fragaria vesca) Genome显示文摘Small RNAs(sRNAs) are vital regulators of gene expression and involved in various biological processes. Among them, micro RNAs(mi RNAs) and phased small interfering RNAs(phasi RNAs) have been well defined and studied in the past decades. A bunch of scripts or pipelines were developed to annotate mi RNAs and phasi RNAs. However, some computational annotations are rough and without careful manual check,resulting in low quality annotation. In this study, 19 public strawberry(Fragaria vesca) s RNA sequencing data from nine different tissues were collected to annotate mi RNAs and PHAS loci in F. vesca. After bioinformatics analysis and careful manual checking, 167 known mi RNAs, 27 mi RNA*s with notable abundance, 54 novel mi RNAs were accurately annotated. The terms of two mi RNAs were corrected from mi R477 b and mi R5225 using mi RN47 and mi R3627 h, respectively. Besides 21 nucleotides(nt) mi R390, eleven mi RNAs with a length of 22-nt are in charge of triggering the biogenesis of 21-nt phasi RNAs from 110 PHAS loci in strawberry. In particular, we found several PHAS loci were targeted by two different mi RNAs(similar to the 'two-hit' model) and the phasi RNA generating region located between two target sites. We speculate that one target site is in control of triggering phasi RNA biogenesis and the other target site define the boundary of the region of phasi RNA biogenesis,which likely provide an accurate way for phasi RNA generation. 10A closed-loop process for recycling LiNi_xCo_yMn_((1-x-y))O_2 from mixed cathode materials of lithium-ion batteries显示文摘With the rapid development of consumer electronics and electric vehicles(EV), a large number of spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) have been generated worldwide. Thus, effective recycling technologies to recapture a significant amount of valuable metals contained in spent LIBs are highly desirable to prevent the environmental pollution and resource depletion. In this work, a novel recycling technology to regenerate a LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 cathode material from spent LIBs with different cathode chemistries has been developed. By dismantling, crushing,leaching and impurity removing, the LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2(selected as an example of LiNi_xCo_yMn_(1-x-y)O_2) powder can be directly prepared from the purified leaching solution via co-precipitation followed by solid-state synthesis. For comparison purposes, a fresh-synthesized sample with the same composition has also been prepared using the commercial raw materials via the same method. X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and electrochemical measurements have been carried out to characterize these samples. The electrochemical test result suggests that the re-synthesized sample delivers cycle performance and low rate capability which are comparable to those of the freshsynthesized sample. 13Discovery of Corallina fossil from the Middle Cambrian of Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, China显示文摘Abundant and well-preserved macroalgae fossils have been discovered in silty mudstones and shales from the Middle Cambrian of Taijiang County, Guizhou Province, China. Corallina Paraamphiroa siniansis gen. et sp. nov. in the Kaili Fm., is the earliest Corallina fossil, which usually coexists with other carbonaceous macroalgae fossils on the bedding planes of mudstone and shale and is different from the calcareous and phosphatized Precambrian-Cambrian thallus discovered in the Lower Cambrian of Siberia and the Doushantou phosphate rocks of Weng’an County, Guizhou Province, China. 15Chaotic invariant sets of a delayed discrete neural network of two non-identical neurons显示文摘In this paper, we show that a delayed discrete Hopfield neural network of two nonidentical neurons with no self-connections can demonstrate chaotic behavior in a region away from the origin. To this end, we first transform the model, by a novel way, into an equivalent system which enjoys some nice properties. Then, we identify a chaotic invariant set for this system and show that the system within this set is topologically conjugate to the full shift map on two symbols. This confirms chaos in the sense of Devaney. Our main result is complementary to the results in Kaslik and Balint (2008) and Huang and Zou (2005), where it was shown that chaos may occur in neighborhoods of the origin for the same system. 16Trajectory generation of heat load test based on gauss pseudospectral method显示文摘A new trajectory generation for heat load test is proposed based on gauss pseudospectral method within limit range. Firstly,with multiple path constraints and flight task requirements taken into consideration, heat load parameters are introduced into the dynamics equations. In order to solve the problem of generating such a trajectory within limit range rapidly, the dynamics equations have been normalized by Earth related parameters. Secondly, since the gauss pseudospectral method is just employed to solve the discrete nonlinear programming problem, transformations are developed, which can relate the Lagrange multipliers of the discrete nonlinear programming problem to the costates of the continuous optimal control problem. In addtion, another approach of trajectory generation by tracking the given heat rate is also presented. Finally, simulation results with common aero vehicle(CAV-H) show that the trajectories obtained by both methods can well perform the heat load test with high stagnation heating rate and the large total aeroheating amount; meanwhile, gauss pseudospectral method is better than the compared one in the given range. 17Cambrian trilobite Ovatoryctocara granulata Tchernysheva,1962 and its biostratigraphic significance显示文摘The genus Ovatoryctocara Tchernysheva,1962,and its key species Ovatoryctocara granulata Tchernysheva,1962,are revised. Ovatoryctocara granulata occurs near the base of the Ovatoryctocara Zone and ranges up into the lower portion of the Kounamkites Zone in the Siberian Platform. O. granulata also appears in southeastern Guizhou,South China,but O. granulata in northern Greenland may represent an indefinite species. Specimens of Ovatoryctocara from Newfoundland cannot be identified to species level. Specimens includ-ing two cranidia and three pygidia from the lower part of the Aoxi Formation at Yaxi Village,Shizhu Town,eastern Tongren,north-eastern Guizhou,were previously assigned to O. granulata,which is now reassigned as a new species O. yaxiensis sp. nov. It bears the following main features: glabella club-shaped,slightly expanded medially,with four pairs of lateral furrows,of which S1-S3 are trian-gular pits,S4 is shallow,connecting with axial furrow; shorter palpebral lobe situated a little anterior to the midway of facial suture across the fixigenae,longer posterolateral area (exsag.); semielliptical pygidium consisting of seven axial rings with a terminal piece and with eight pairs of marginal tips giving a sawtooth-like shape of the lateral margins in dorsal view. Although O. granulata is a widely distributed species,the FAD of O. granulata,for a global stage boundary,still has some disadvantages. First,its distribution is not as wide as that of Oryctocephalus indicus (Reed,1910). Second,specimens of O. granulata are common only in Siberia. Third,the strati-graphic range of the species has not been studied in detail in all continents. Fourth,O. granulata is relatively small and easily affected by post-burial distortion. Last but not least,there exists obviously a facies change between the Ovatoryctocara Zone (lower Amgan Stage; deeper water facies) and the underlying Anabaraspis splendens Zone (Toyonian Stage; shallow water facies) in Siberian Platform. 18Bathynotus:A key trilobite taxon for global stratigraphic boundary correlation between Cambrian Series 2 and Cambrian Series 3显示文摘The Cambrian trilobite Bathynotus is a special morphology of Redlichiid,which is characterized by a wider thorax axis and an 11th macropleural segment bearing a long,backwardly directed spine.Additionally,its 12th and 13th pleural segments are narrow and they terminate at a fulcrum where they fuse together and to the posterior edge of the long macropleural spine.The genus is widely distributed,occurring in North America,Siberia,the Altay-Sayan fold belt of Russia,South China,the Tarim Basin of China,and Australia.It occurs primarily in deposits of the upper part of the continental slope,at the transition between stable platform settings and subsiding margins of the late Early Cambrian.Here,we recognize three species of Bathynotus from China,including B.holopygus which is widespread around the world.Although six species of Bathynotus have been reported from Siberia and the Altay-Sayan fold belt area of Russia,data presented here suggest that only three of these species are valid.Bathynotus exhibits a short geological range,with its first occurrence late in the unnamed Cambrian Series 2 and the last appearance datum of Bathynotus at the boundary of Cambrian Series 2 and Cambrian Series 3.The late appearance datum(LAD) of Bathynotus provides an important global stratigraphic marker of the boundary between Cambrian Series 2 and Cambrian Series 3.Jin Peng Yuanlong Zhao Jinliang Yuan Lu Yao Hong Yang 2009Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,1:5

20Training for smart manufacturing using a mobile robot-based production line显示文摘Practice experimentation that integrates the manufacturing processes and cutting-edge technologies of smart manufacturing (SM) is essential for future academic and applied engineering personnel. The broadening efficacy of hands-on experience in SM engineering education has been manifested. In this regard, a reference practical system is proposed in this study for hands-on training in SM crucial advancements. The system constructs a mobile robot-based production line (MRPL) to increase participants’ interest in theoretical learning and professional skills. The MRPL-based reference system includes the comprehensive principles and processes involved in modern SM factories from warehousing to logistics, processing, and testing. With key features of modularity, integrability, customizability, and open architecture, this system has a threefold objective. First, it is an interdisciplinary subject that enables students to translate classroom learning into authentic practices, thus facilitating knowledge synthesis and training involvements. Second, it offers effective support to cultivate the attributions and behavioral competencies of SM talents, such as perseverance, adaptability, and cooperation. Third, it promotes students’ capacities for critical thinking and problem solving so that they can deal with the difficulties that physical systems have and motivates them to pursue careers with new syllabi, functions, and process techno-logies.
