2Non-uniform distribution of gas-solid flow through six parallel cyclones in a CFB system: An experimental study显示文摘In large-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers, it is common to use multiple cyclones in parallel for the capture of solids, assuming that gas-solid flow to be the same in the cyclones. This article presents a study investigating gas-solid flow through six parallel cyclones in a CFB cold test rig. The six cyclones were located asymmetrically on the left and right walls of the riser. Solid volume fraction and particle velocity profiles at the riser outlets and in the horizontal ducts were measured using a fiber optical probe. Cyclone pressure drop and solid circulating rate were measured for each individual cyclone. Measurements showed good agreement as to the non-uniform distribution of the gas-solid flow, which occurred mainly across the three cyclones on one side: the middle cyclones on both sides had higher particle velocities. Conversely, the solid volume fractions, solid fluxes and solid circulating rates of the middle cyclones were lower than those of the other four cyclones. The apparent reason for the flow non-uniformity among the cyclones is the significant flow non-uniformity at the riser outlets. Under typical operating conditions, the solid volume fractions at the riser outlets had a deviation of up to 26% whereas the solid circulating rates at the stand pipes, 7%. 4Collagen scaffolds modified with collagen-binding bFGF promotes the neural regeneration in a rat hemisected spinal cord injury model显示文摘Nerve conduit is one of strategies for spine cord injury(SCI)treatment.Recently,studies showed that biomaterials could guide the neurite growth and promote axon regeneration at the injury site.However,the scaffold by itself was difficult to meet the need of SCI functional recovery.The basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)administration significantly promotes functional recovery after organ injuries.Here,using a rat model of T9 hemisected SCI,we aimed at assessing the repair capacity of implantation of collagen scaffold(CS)modified by collagen binding bFGF(CBD-bFGF).The results showed that CS combined with CBD-bFGF treatment improved survival rates after the lateral hemisection SCI.The CS/CBD-bFGF group showed more significant improvements in motor than the simply CS-implanted and untreated control group,when evaluated by the 21-point Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan(BBB)score and footprint analysis.Both hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)and immunohistochemical staining of neurofilament(NF)and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)demonstrated that fibers were guided to grow through the implants.These findings indicated that administration of CS modified with CBD-bFGF could promote spinal cord regeneration and functional recovery.SHI Qin GAO Wei HAN XingLong ZHU XueSong SUN Jie XIE Fang HOU XiangLin YANG HuiLin DAI JianWu CHEN Liang 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:23
5Delayed sowing can increase lodging resistance while maintaining grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency in winter wheat显示文摘Lodging resistance of winter wheat(Trnticum aestivum L.) can be increased by late sowing.However, whether grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency(NUE) can be maintained with delayed sowing remains unknown. During the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 growing seasons, two winter wheat cultivars were sown on three dates(early sowing on October 1, normal so,wing on October8, and late sowing on October 15) to investigate the responses of lodging resistance, grain yield,and NUE to sowing date. No significant differences in lodging resistance, grain yield, or NUE between early and normal sowing were observed. Averaging over the two cultivars and years,postponing the sowing date significantly increased lodging resistance by 53.6% and 49.6%compared with that following early and normal sowing, respectively. Lodging resistance was improved mainly through a reduction in the culm height at the center of gravity and an increase in the tensile strength of the base internode. Late sowing resulted in similar grain yield as well as kernel weight and number of kernels per square meter, compared to early and normal sowing.Averaging over the two cultivars and years, delayed sowing resulted in a reduction in nitrogen uptake efficiency(UPE) by 11.0% and 9.9% compared to early and normal sowing, respectively,owing to reduced root length density and dry matter accumulation before anthesis. An average increase in nitrogen utilization efficiency(UTE) of 12.9% and 11.2% compared to early and normal sowing, respectively, was observed with late sowing owing to a reduction in the grain nitrogen concentration. The increase in UTE offset the reduction in UPE, resulting in equal NUEs among all sowing dates. 6Calculation of watershed flow concentration based on the grid drop concept显示文摘The grid drop concept is introduced and used to develop a micromechanism-based methodology for calculating watershed flow concentration. The flow path and distance traveled by a grid drop to the outlet of the watershed are obtained using a digital elevation model (DEM). Regarding the slope as an uneven carpet through which the grid drop passes, a formula for overland flow velocity differing from Manning’s formula for stream flow as well as Darcy’s formula for pore flow is proposed. Compared with the commonly used unit hydrograph and isochronal methods, this new methodology has outstanding advantages in that it considers the influences of the slope velocity field and the heterogeneity of spatial distribution of rainfall on the flow concentration process, and includes only one parameter that needs to be calibrated. 7Status and development of high-power laser facilities at the NLHPLP显示文摘In this paper, we review the status of the multifunctional experimental platform at the National Laboratory of High Power Laser and Physics(NLHPLP). The platform, including the SG-II laser facility, SG-II 9th beam, SG-II upgrade(SG-II UP) facility, and SG-II 5 PW facility, is operational and available for interested scientists studying inertial confinement fusion(ICF) and a broad range of high-energy-density physics. These facilities can provide important experimental capabilities by combining different pulse widths of nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond scales. In addition, the SG-II UP facility, consisting of a single petawatt system and an eight-beam nanosecond system, is introduced including several laser technologies that have been developed to ensure the performance of the facility. 8Analysis and construction status of SG-Ⅱ 5PW laser facility显示文摘We present a recent progress of the SG-II 5 PW facility, which designed a multi-petawatt ultrashort pulse laser based on optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification(OPCPA). The prior two optical parametric amplifiers have been accomplished and chirped pulses with an energy of 49.7 J and a full-width-at-half-maximum(FWHM) spectrum bandwidth of 85 nm have been achieved. In the PW-scale optical parametric amplification(OPA), with the pump pulse that has an energy of 118 J from the second harmonic generation of the SG-II 7 th beam, the pump-to-signal conversion efficiency is up to 41.9%, which to the best of our knowledge is the highest among all of the reported values for OPCPA systems. The compressed pulse is higher than 37 J in 21 fs(1.76 PW), and the focal spot is ~10 μm after the closed-loop corrections by the adaptive optics. Limited by the repetition of the pump laser, the SG-II 5 PW facility operates one shot per hour. 10Progresses in Sustainable Recycling Technology of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries显示文摘The number of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is steadily increasing in order to meet the ever-growing demand for sustainable energy and a high quality of life for humankind.At the same time,the resulting large number of LIB waste certainly poses safety hazards if it is not properly disposed of and will seriously harm the environment due to its inherent toxicity due to the use of toxic substances.Moreover,the consumption of many scarce precious metal resources is behind the mass production of batteries.In the light of severe environmental,resources,safety and recycling problems,recycling spent LIBs have become an essential urgently needed action to achieve sustainable social development.This review therefore critically analyses the value and the need for recycling of spent LIBs from a variety of resources and the environment.A range of existing technologies for recycling and reusing spent LIBs,such as pretreatment,pyrometallurgy,hydrometallurgy,and direct recycled methods,is subsequently summarized exclusively.In addition,the benefits and problems of the methods described above are analyzed in detail.It also introduces recycling progress of other LIB components,such as anodes,separators,and electrolytes,as well as the high-value cathode.Finally,the prospects for recycling LIBs are addressed in four ways(government,users,battery manufacturers,and recyclers).This review should contribute to the development of the recycling of used LIBs,particularly in support of industrialization and recycling processes.Kaidi Du Edison Huixiang Ang Xinglong Wu Yichun Liu 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,4:7
11A microporous surface containing Si3N4/Ta microparticles of PEKK exhibits both antibacterial and osteogenic activity for inducing cellular response and improving osseointegration显示文摘As an implantable biomaterial,polyetherketoneketone(PEKK)exhibits good mechanical strength but it is biologically inert while tantalum(Ta)possesses outstanding osteogenic bioactivity but has a high density and elastic modulus.Also,silicon nitride(SN)has osteogenic and antibacterial activity.In this study,a microporous surface containing both SN and Ta microparticles on PEKK(STP)exhibiting excellent osteogenic and antibacterial activity was created by sulfonation.Compared with sulfonated PEKK(SPK)without microparticles,the surface properties(roughness,surface energy,hydrophilicity and protein adsorption)of STP significantly increased due to the SN and Ta particles presence on the microporous surface.In addition,STP also exhibited outstanding antibacterial activity,which inhibited bacterial growth in vitro and prevented bacterial infection in vivo because of the presence of SN particles.Moreover,the microporous surface of STP containing both SN and Ta particles remarkably induced response(e.g.,proliferation and differentiation)of rat bone mesenchymal stem(rBMS)cells in vitro.Furthermore,STP significantly improved new bone regeneration and osseointegration in vivo.Regarding the induction of cellular response in vitro and improvement of osseointegration in vivo,the microporous surface containing Ta was better than the surface with SN particles.In conclusion,STP with optimized surface properties activated cellular responses in vitro,enhanced osseointegration and prevented infection in vivo.Therefore,STP possessed the dual biofunctions of excellent osteogenic and antibacterial activity,showing great potential as a bone substitute.Xinglong Hu Shiqi Mei Fan Wang Songchao Tang Dong Xie Chao Ding Wenli Du Jun Zhao Lili Yang Zhaoying Wu Jie Wei 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,10:6
12Implantable PEKK/tantalum microparticles composite with improved surface performances for regulating cell behaviors,promoting bone formation and osseointegration显示文摘Polyetherketoneketone(PEKK)exhibits admirable biocompatibility and mechanical performances but bioinert while tantalum(Ta)possesses excellent osteogenesis and osseointegration but high elastic modulus and density,and processing is too difficult and expensive.In the present study,combining of the advantages of both PEKK and Ta,implantable composites of PEKK/Ta were fabricated by blending PEKK with Ta microparticles of 20 v%(PT20)and 40 v%(PT40)content.In comparison with PT20 and PEKK,the surface hydrophilicity,surface energy,roughness and proteins adsorption as well as mechanical performances of PT40 significantly increased because of the higher Ta particles content in PEKK.Furthermore,PT40 exhibited the mechanical performances(e.g.,compressive strength and modulus of elasticity)close to the cortical bone of human.Compared with PT20 and PEKK,PT40 with higher Ta content remarkably enhanced the responses(including adhesion,proliferation and osteogenic differentiation)of MC3T3-E1 cells in vitro.Moreover,PT40 markedly improved bone formation as well as osseointegration in vivo.In short,incorporation of Ta microparticles into PEKK created implantable composites with improved surface performances,which played key roles in stimulating cell responses/bone formation as well as promoting osseointegration.PT40 might have great potential for bear-loading bone substitute.Xinglong Hu Shiqi Mei Fan Wang Jun Qian Dong Xie Jun Zhao Lili Yang Zhaoying Wu Jie Wei 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,4:6
13TiO_2 nanocrystals/graphene hybrids with enhanced Li-ion storage performance显示文摘TiO_2 nanocrystals/graphene hybrids(TiO_2-G) with ultrafine TiO_2 nanocrystals(~7 nm in size) conformally coated on ultrathin graphene nanosheets(~ 2 layers thick) were successfully prepared via a facile one-pot solvothermal route under mediated conditions.With the feature of large surface area,abundant mesopores and high thermal stability,the TiOi-G nanohybrids exhibited large reversible Li-ion storage capacity with excellent cycling stability(629 mAh·g^(-1) after 400 cycles at a current of 60 mA·g^(-1)) and good rate capability(184 mAh·g^(-1) at a current density of 3 A·g^(-1)) due to the synergetic effects and strong interactions between the components,showing great promise in applications for advanced energy storage devices.Qingqing Zhang Rong Li Mengmeng Zhang Bianli Zhang Xinglong Gou 2014Journal of Energy Chemistry2014,23,3:5
14PREPARATION OF WC-Co POWDER BY DIRECT REDUCTION AND CARBONIZATION显示文摘A new approach to produce superfine WC-Co powder by direct reduction and carbonization is proposed.Water-soluble salts containing W and Co were used as raw materials. Tungsten and cobalt oxide powder (CoWO4/WO3)was first formed by a spray-pyrolysis technique, which was then mixed with carbon black and converted to WC-Co composite powder at 950℃ for 4 h in N2 atmosphere. 15Design and experimental demonstration of a high conversion efficiency OPCPA pre-amplifier for petawatt laser facility显示文摘We present the design and experiment of a broadband optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier(OPCPA) which provides high conversion efficiency and good beam quality at 808 nm wavelength. Using a three-dimensional spatial and temporal numerical model, several design considerations necessary to achieve high conversion efficiency, good beam quality and good output stability are discussed. To improve the conversion efficiency and broaden the amplified signal bandwidth simultaneously, the nonlinear crystal length and OPCPA parameters are analyzed and optimized with the concept of dissipating amplified idler between optical parametric amplification(OPA) of two crystals configuration.In the experiment, an amplifier consisting of two OPCPA stages of ‘L’ type configuration was demonstrated by using the optimized parameters. An amplified signal energy of 160 mJ was achieved with a total pump-to-signal efficiency of 35%(43% efficiency for the OPCPA stage 2). The output bandwidth of signal pulse reached 80 nm and the signal pulse was compressed to 24 fs. The energy stability reached 1.67% RMS at 3% pump energy variation. 16Highly Enhanced Visible-Light-Driven Photoelectrochemical Performance of ZnO-Modified In_2S_3 Nanosheet Arrays by Atomic Layer Deposition显示文摘Photoanodes based on In_2S_3/ZnO heterojunction nanosheet arrays(NSAs) have been fabricated by atomic layer deposition of ZnO over In_2S_3 NSAs, which were in situ grown on fluorine-doped tin oxide glasses via a facile solvothermal process. The as-prepared photoanodes show dramatically enhanced performance for photoelectrochemical(PEC) water splitting, compared to single semiconductor counterparts. The optical and PEC properties of In_2S_3/ZnO NSAs have been optimized by modulating the thickness of the Zn O overlayer. After pairing with ZnO, the NSAs exhibit a broadened absorption range and an increased light absorptance over a wide wavelength region of 250–850 nm. The optimized sample of In_2S_3/ZnO-50 NSAs shows a photocurrent density of 1.642 m A cm^(-2)(1.5 V vs. RHE) and an incident photonto-current efficiency of 27.64% at 380 nm(1.23 V vs.RHE), which are 70 and 116 times higher than those of the pristine In_2S_3 NSAs, respectively. 17Revisiting Al-Ni-Zr bulk metallic glasses using the 'cluster-resonance' model显示文摘Six series of alloys,namely,Ni3Zr6Alx,Ni3Zr7Alx,Ni4Zr9Alx,Ni3Zr8Alx,Ni3Zr9Alx and Ni3Zr10Alx (x=1,1.5,2,3) were designed in this work and the bulk metallic glass (BMG) formation of these compositions was investigated by copper mold suction casting. A centimeter-scale BMG sample was obtained for the Ni4Zr9Al2 (Al13.3Ni26.7Zr60 in atomic percent) composition. The thermal glass parameters for this BMG were determined to be ΔTx = 68 K,Trg = 0.579,and γm = 0.689. 18Aminosaccharide-gold nanoparticle assemblies as narrow-spectrum antibiotics against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Bacterial infection has continued to be a leading cause of death or disability worldwide because of antibiotic resistance.Antibiotic agents specific to certain taxa of bacteria,i.e.,narrow-spectrum antibiotics,have become useful because they can kill bacteria without resulting in broad-spectrum drug resistance.In this study,we describe a series of antibiotics based on combining gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with aminosaccharides,even though these AuNPs or aminosaccharides by themselves are ineffective against any bacteria.The AuNP-based multivalent aminosaccharides can effectively and selectively inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria (including drug-resistant superbacteria).In particular,aminosaccharidemodified AuNPs are effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA),a particularly hard-to-treat strain.This report carves out a way to explore antibiotics by combining AuNPs and an aminosaccharide as multivalent nanostructures,neither of which by itself is effective as an antibiotic.Xinglong Yang Lingmin Zhang Xingyu Jiang 2018Nano Research2018,11,12:5
19Parachute dynamics and perturbation analysis of precision airdrop system显示文摘To analyze the parachute dynamics and stability characteristics of precision airdrop system,the fluid–structure interaction(FSI) dynamics coupling with the flight trajectory of a parachute–payload system is comprehensively predicted by numerical methods.The inflation behavior of a disk-gap-band parachute is specifically investigated using the arbitrary Lagrangian–Euler(ALE) penalty coupling method.With the available aerodynamic data obtained from the FSI simulation,a nine-degree-of-freedom(9DOF) dynamic model of a parachute–payload system is built and solved to simulate the descent trajectory of the multi-body dynamic system.Finally,a linear five-degree-of-freedom(5DOF) dynamic model is developed,the perturbation characteristics and the motion laws of the parachute and payload under a wind gust are analyzed by the linearization method and verified by a comparison with flight test data.The results of airdrop test demonstrate that our method can be further applied to the guidance and control of precision airdrop systems.Gao Xinglong Zhang Qingbin Tang Qiangang 2016Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,3:5
20Surveying brain tumor heterogeneity by single-cell RNA-sequencing of multi-sector biopsies显示文摘Brain tumors are among the most challenging human tumors for which the mechanisms driving progression and heterogeneity remain poorly understood.We combined single-cell RNA-seq with multi-sector biopsies to sample and analyze single-cell expression profiles of gliomas from 13 Chinese patients.After classifying individual cells;we generated a spatial and temporal landscape of glioma that revealed the patterns of invasion between the different sub-regions of gliomas.We also used single-cell inferred copy number variations and pseudotime trajectories to inform on the crucial branches that dominate tumor progression.The dynamic cell components of the multi-region biopsy analysis allowed us to spatially deconvolute with unprecedented accuracy the transcriptomic features of the core and those of the periphery of glioma at single-cell level.Through this rich and geographically detailed dataset,we were also able to characterize and construct the chemokine and chemokine receptor interactions that exist among different tumor and non-tumor cells.This study provides the first spatial-level analysis of the cellular states that characterize human gliomas.It also presents an initial molecular map of the cross-talks between glioma cells and the surrounding microenvironment with single-cell resolution.Kai Yu Yuqiong Hu Fan Wu Qiufang Guo Zenghui Qian Waner Hu Jing Chen Kuanyu Wang Xiaoying Fan Xinglong Wu John EJ Rasko Xiaolong Fan Antonio lavarone Tao Jiang Fuchou Tang Xiao-Dong Su 2020National Science Review2020,7,8:4
