New proofs of the recent climate warming over the Tibetan Plateau as a result of the increasing greenhouse gases emissions显示文摘A striking climate warming over the Ti- betan Plateau during the last decades has been re- vealed by many studies, but evidence linking it to human activity is insufficient. By using historical ob- servations, here we show that the in situ climate warming is accompanied by a distinct decreasing trend of the diurnal range of surface air temperature. The ERA40 reanalysis further indicates that there seems to be a coherent warming trend near the tro- popause but a cooling trend in the lower stratosphere. Moreover, all these features can be reproduced in two coupled climate models forced by observed CO2 concentration of the 20th century but cannot be pro- duced by the fixed external conditions before the industrial revolution. These suggest that the recent climate warming over the Tibetan Plateau primarily results from the increasing anthropogenic green- house gases emissions, and impacts of the increased greenhouse gases emissions upon the climate change in the plateau are probably more serious than the rest of the world. | DUAN Anmin WU Guoxiong ZHANG Qiong LIU Yimin | 2006 | Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,11: | 51
2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. | 3 | Tibetan Plateau climate dynamics: recent research progress and outlook显示文摘This paper reviews progress in the study of Tibetan Plateau(TP) climate dynamics over the past decade.Several theoretical frameworks, including thermal adaptation and the TP sensible heat(SH) driving air-pump, have been developed to identify the mechanisms responsible for the circulation anomaly produced by thermal forcing of the TP. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the thermal efects of large-scale orography, including the Tibetan and Iranian Plateaus(TIP), are crucial for the formation of the East Asian and South Asian summer monsoons(SASM) because the surface SH of the TIP is the major driver of the water vapor transport required for the genesis of the north branch of the SASM. he large-scale orography of the TP afects the Asian climate through thermal forcing in spring and summer, and mechanical forcing in winter. he TP forcing can also inluence the Asian summer monsoon(ASM) onset over the Bay of Bengal(BOB) by enhancing the BOB warm pool at the surface and by modulating the South Asian High(SAH) in the upper troposphere. On intra-seasonal timescales, the TP thermal forcing signiicantly modulates spring rainfall in southern China and generates the biweekly oscillation of the SAH in summer. Despite climate warming, the atmospheric heat source over the TP, particularly the spring SH,exhibits a clear weakening trend from the 1980 s to 2000 s. his weakening of the spring SH contributed to the anomalous ‘dry in the north' and ‘wet in the south' rainfall patern observed over East China. Also discussed are challenges to further understanding the mechanism of TP forcing on the multi-scale variability of the ASM. | Guoxiong Wu Anmin Duan Yimin Liu Jiangyu Mao Rongcai Ren Qing Bao Bian He Boqi Liu Wenting Hu | 2015 | National Science Review2015,2,1: | 51
Heating status of the Tibetan Plateau from April to June and rainfall and atmospheric circulation anomaly over East Asia in midsummer显示文摘Based on the 1958-1999 monthly averaged reanalysis data of the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the rainfall data of 160 Chinese surface stations, the relationship between rainfall and the atmospheric circulation anomaly over East Asia (EA) in July and the sensible heating (SH) over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) from April to June (AMJ) is investigated by using the rotational experimental orthogonal function (REOF) method. The results show that the TP is an isolated heating source in this period. The lagged correlation analysis between the first rotational principal component (RPC) of SH over the TP in May and rainfall of EA in July demonstrates that strong SH over the TP before July leads to a positive rainfall anomaly over the TP, the valley between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, and the regions south and southeast of the TP, and the Sichuan Basin and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, but less rainfall anomaly over the regions north, northeast, and west of the TP. Such rainfall anomaly patterns are shown to be well coordinated with those of the circulation and vapor flux fields, and are explained by using the thermal adaptation theory and quasi-stationary large-scale vorticity equation. Therefore, the status of SH over the TP during AMJ can be used as a predictor for the rainfall anomaly over EA, especially in the valley between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. | DUAN Anmin LIU Yimin WU Guoxiong | 2005 | Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,2: | 29
An assessment of summer sensible heat flux on the Tibetan Plateau from eight data sets显示文摘The eight datasets of the summer (June-August) surface sensible heat (SH) flux over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) are compared on the time scales of the climatology, interannual variability and linear trend during 1980-2006.These data sets include five reanalyses (National Center for Environmental Prediction reanalysis,NCEPR1 and NCEPR2,NCEP climate forecast system reanalysis,CFSR,Japanese 25-year reanalysis,JRA,and European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis,ERA40),two land surface model outputs (Noah model data of Global Land Data Assimilation System version 2,G2_Noah,and Simple Biosphere version 2 output by Yang et al.,YSiB2),and estimated SH based on China Meteorological Administration (CMA) station observations,ObCh.The results suggest that the summer SH on the TP differs from one dataset to another due to different inputs and calculations.Climatologically, the ERA40 and JRA distribute rather uniformly while the other six products show similar regional disparities, that is,larger in the west than in the east and stronger in the north and the south than in the middle of the plateau. The mean magnitude of the SH averaged over the 76 stations above the TP varies considerably among each dataset with the difference of more than 20 W m?2 between the maximum (G2_Noah) and minimum (ObCh).Nevertheless, they are consistent in the interannual variability and mostly show a significant decreasing trend corresponding to the weakening surface wind speed,in spite of the distinct trend for the ground-air temperature difference among the different data sets. These two consistencies indicate the particular availability of the SH products, which is helpful to the relevant climate dynamics research. | ZHU XiaYing LIU YiMin WU GuoXiong | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,5: | 24
Land-atmosphere-ocean coupling associated with the Tibetan Plateau and its climate impacts显示文摘This paper reviews recent advances regarding land-atmosphere-ocean coupling associated with the Tibetan Plateau(TP)and its climatic impacts.Thermal forcing over the TP interacts strongly with that over the Iranian Plateau, forming a coupled heating system that elevates the tropopause, generates a monsoonal meridional circulation over South Asia and creates conditions of large-scale ascent favorable for Asian summer monsoon development.TP heating leads to intensification and westward extension(northward movement)of the South Asian High(Atlantic Intertropical Convergence Zone),and exerts strong impacts on upstream climate variations from North Atlantic to West Asia.It also affects oceanic circulation and buoyancy fields via atmospheric stationary wave trains and air-sea interaction processes, contributing to formation of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The TP thermal state and atmospheric-oceanic conditions are highly interactive and Asian summer monsoon variability is controlled synergistically by internal TP variability and external forcing factors. | Yimin Liu Mengmeng Lu Haijun Yang Anmin Duan Bian He Song Yang Guoxiong Wu | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,3: | 21
Application of PMMA bone cement composited with bone-mineralized collagen in percutaneous kyphoplasty显示文摘We investigated the feasibility of applying polymethylmethacrylate bone cement composited with biomimetic bone-mineralizsed collagen to percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP).We performed PKP in 95 patients diagnosed with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. All patients had fractures of a single vertebral body, and they were divided randomly into control(group A,47 patients)and experimental(group B,48 patients)groups.Patients in group A were treated with acrylic cement, and those in group B were treated with acrylic cement composited with the bone graft material. All patients were evaluated by a visual analogue scale(VAS),Oswestry disability index(ODI),Cobb angle and anterior vertebral body height preoperatively, and 3 days and 3 months postoperatively. All patients successfully completed surgery and were followed up thereafter. The VAS score,ODI index,Cobb angle and anterior vertebral body height compression rate in both groups had significant changes(P<0.05)preoperatively,and at 3 days and 3 months postoperatively. There was no significant difference between the two groups at different times(P>0.05).The analgesic effects of bone cement composited with bone-mineralized collagen are similar to those of bone cement only.Mineralized collagen has excellent promotion prospects by inducing new bone formation and reducing the incidence of adverse reactions caused by bone cement. | Ming Bai Heping Yin Jian Zhao Yang Li Yongdong Yang Yimin Wu | 2017 | Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,4: | 17
Vortex genesis over the Bay of Bengal in spring and its role in the onset of the Asian Summer Monsoon显示文摘Physical processes associated with onset of the 1998 Asian summer monsoon were examined in detail using multi-source datasets. We demonstrated that strong ocean-atmosphere-land interaction in the northern Indian Ocean and tropical Asian area during spring is a fundamental factor that induces the genesis and development of a monsoon onset vortex over the Bay of Bengal (BOB), with the vortex in turn triggering onset of the Asian summer monsoon. In spring, strong surface sensible heating over India and the Indochina Peninsula is transferred to the atmosphere, forming prominent in situ cyclonic circulation, with anticyclonic circulations over the Arabian Sea and northern BOB where the ocean receives abundant solar radiation. The corresponding surface winds along the North Indian Ocean coastal areas cause the ocean to produce the in situ offshore currents and upwelling, resulting in sea surface temperature (SST) cooling. With precipitation on the Indochina Peninsula increasing from late April to early May, the offshore current disappears in the eastern BOB or develops into an onshore current, leading to SST increasing. A southwest-northeast oriented spring BOB warm pool with SST >31°C forms in a band from the southeastern Arabian Sea to the eastern BOB. In early May, the Somali cross-equatorial flow forms due to the meridional SST gradient between the two hemispheres, and surface sensible heat over the African land surface. The Somali flow overlaps in phase with the anticyclone over the northern Arabian Sea in the course of its inertial fluctuation along the equator. The convergent cold northerlies on the eastern side of the anticyclone cause the westerly in the inertial trough to increase rapidly, so that enhanced sensible heat is released from the sea surface into the atmosphere. The cyclonic vorticity forced by such sensible heating is superimposed on the inertial trough, leading to its further increase in vorticity strength. Since atmospheric inertial motion is destroyed, the flow deviates from the inertial track in an intensified cyclonic curvature, and then turns northward toward the warm pool in the northern BOB. It therefore converges with the easterly flow on the south side of the anticyclone over the northern BOB, forming a cyclonic circulation center east of Sri Lanka. Co-located with the cyclonic circulation is a generation of atmospheric potential energy, due to lower tropospheric heating by the warm ocean. Eventually the BOB monsoon onset vortex (MOV) is generated east of Sri Lanka. As the MOV migrates northward to the warm pool it develops quickly such that the zonal oriented subtropical high is split over the eastern BOB. Thus, the tropical southwesterly on the southern and eastern sides of the MOV merges into the subtropical westerly in the north, leading to active convection over the eastern BOB and western Indochina Peninsula and onset of the Asian summer monsoon. | WU GuoXiong GUAN Yue WANG TongMei LIU YiMin YAN JingHui MAO JiangYu | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,1: | 16
Understanding the Surface Temperature Cold Bias in CMIP5 AGCMs over the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The temperature biases of 28 CMIP5 AGCMs are evaluated over the Tibetan Plateau(TP) for the period 1979–2005. The results demonstrate that the majority of CMIP5 models underestimate annual and seasonal mean surface 2-m air temperatures(T_(as)) over the TP. In addition, the ensemble of the 28 AGCMs and half of the individual models underestimate annual mean skin temperatures(T_s) over the TP. The cold biases are larger in T_(as) than in T_s, and are larger over the western TP. By decomposing the T_s bias using the surface energy budget equation, we investigate the contributions to the cold surface temperature bias on the TP from various factors, including the surface albedo-induced bias, surface cloud radiative forcing, clear-sky shortwave radiation, clear-sky downward longwave radiation, surface sensible heat flux, latent heat flux, and heat storage. The results show a suite of physically interlinked processes contributing to the cold surface temperature bias.Strong negative surface albedo-induced bias associated with excessive snow cover and the surface heat fluxes are highly anticorrelated, and the cancelling out of these two terms leads to a relatively weak contribution to the cold bias. Smaller surface turbulent fluxes lead to colder lower-tropospheric temperature and lower water vapor content, which in turn cause negative clear-sky downward longwave radiation and cold bias. The results suggest that improvements in the parameterization of the area of snow cover, as well as the boundary layer, and hence surface turbulent fluxes, may help to reduce the cold bias over the TP in the models. | Xiaolei CHEN Yimin LIU Guoxiong WU | 2017 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2017,34,12: | 15
Two types of summertime heating over the Asian large-scale orography and excitation of potential-vorticity forcing I. Over Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Based on numerical simulation, this study explored the characteristics and interactions of surface sensible heating and atmospheric latent heating over the main part of the Tibetan Plateau, i.e., terrain at elevations >2 km in summer. The impacts of these two types of heating on local vertical motion and monsoonal meridional circulation were compared. Theoretical analysis and numerical experimentation demonstrated that by changing the configuration of the upper-tropospheric air temperature and circulation, the two types of heating could generate both minimum absolute vorticity and abnormal potential vorticity forcing near the tropopause, enhance the meridional circulation of the Asian summer monsoon, and produce an eastward-propagating Rossby wave train within the mid-latitude westerly flow. Consequently, the manifestations of these features were shown to influence the circulation of the Northern Hemisphere. | WU GuoXiong ZHUO HaiFeng WANG ZiQian LIU YiMin | 2016 | Science China Earth Sciences2016,59,10: | 13
CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 Historical Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project Simulation显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System(FGOALS-f3-L) model for the baseline experiment of the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project simulation in the Diagnostic,Evaluation and Characterization of Klima common experiments of phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6) are described in this paper. The CAS FGOALS-f3-L model, experiment settings, and outputs are all given. In total, there are three ensemble experiments over the period 1979–2014, which are performed with different initial states. The model outputs contain a total of 37 variables and include the required three-hourly mean, six-hourly transient, daily and monthly mean datasets. The baseline performances of the model are validated at different time scales. The preliminary evaluation suggests that the CAS FGOALS-f3-L model can capture the basic patterns of atmospheric circulation and precipitation well, including the propagation of the Madden–Julian Oscillation, activities of tropical cyclones, and the characterization of extreme precipitation. | 12 | Effect of biomass addition on the surface and adsorption characterization of carbon-based adsorbents from sewage sludge显示文摘Sewage sludge with the additive corn cob was used as prescusor to prepare sludge-based carbon adsorbents by pyrolysis method. And then, the carbonizated products were activated with potassium hydroxide. The mixing ratio of the corn cob to sewage sludge was investigated. The surface area and pore size distribution, elemental composition, surface chemistry structure and the surface physical morphology were determined and compared. The results demonstrated that the addition of corn cob into the sewage sludge sample could effectively improve the surface area (from 287 to 591 m 2 /g) and the microporosity (from 5% to 48%) of the carbon based adsorbent, thus enhancing the adsorption behavior. The sulfur dioxide adsorption capacity was measured according to breakthrough test. It was found that the sulfur dioxide adsorption capacity of the adsorbents was obviously enhanced after the addition of the corn cob. It is presumed that not only highly porous adsorbents, but also a high metallic content of these materials are required to achieve good performances. | Changzi Wu Min Song Baosheng Jin Yimin Wu Yaji Huang | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,2: | 11
Formation and Variation of the Atmospheric Heat Source over the Tibetan Plateau and Its Climate Effects显示文摘To cherish the memory of the late Professor Duzheng YE on what would have been his 100 th birthday, and to celebrate his great accomplishment in opening a new era of Tibetan Plateau(TP) meteorology, this review paper provides an assessment of the atmospheric heat source(AHS) over the TP from different data resources, including observations from local meteorological stations, satellite remote sensing data, and various reanalysis datasets. The uncertainty and applicability of these heat source data are evaluated. Analysis regarding the formation of the AHS over the TP demonstrates that it is not only the cause of the atmospheric circulation, but is also a result of that circulation. Based on numerical experiments, the review further demonstrates that land–sea thermal contrast is only one part of the monsoon story. The thermal forcing of the Tibetan–Iranian Plateau plays a significant role in generating the Asian summer monsoon(ASM), i.e., in addition to pumping water vapor from sea to land and from the lower to the upper troposphere, it also generates a subtropical monsoon–type meridional circulation subject to the angular momentum conservation, providing an ascending-air large-scale background for the development of the ASM. | Guoxiong WU Bian HE Anmin DUAN Yimin LIU Wei YU | 2017 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2017,34,10: | 10
Science and Prediction of Heavy Rainfall over China:Research Progress since the Reform and Opening-Up of New China显示文摘This paper reviews the major progress on development of the science and prediction of heavy rainfall over China since the beginning of the reform and opening-up of new China(roughly between 1980 and 2019).The progress of research on the physical mechanisms of heavy rainfall over China is summarized from three perspectives:1)the relevant synoptic weather systems,2)heavy rainfall in major sub-regions of China, and 3)heavy rainfall induced by typhoons. The development and application of forecasting techniques for heavy rainfall are summarized in terms of numerical weather prediction techniques and objective forecasting methods.Greatly aided by the rapid progress in meteorological observing technology and substantial improvement in electronic computing, studies of heavy rainfall in China have advanced to investigating the evolution of heavy-rain-producing storms and observational analysis of the cloud microphysical features.A deeper and more systematic understanding of the synoptic systems of importance to the production of heavy rainfall has also been developed.Operational forecast of heavy rainfall in China has changed from subjective weather event forecasts to a combination of both subjective and objective quantitative precipitation forecasts, and is now advancing toward probabilistic quantitative precipitation forecasts with the provision of forecast uncertainty information. | Yali LUO Jisong SUN Ying LI Rudi XIA Yu DU Shuai YANG Yuanchun ZHANG Jing CHEN Kan DAI Xueshun SHEN Haoming CHEN Feifan ZHOU Yimin LIU Shenming FU Mengwen WU Tiangui XIAO Yangruixue CHEN Huiqi LI Mingxin LI | 2020 | Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,3: | 10
Features of rainfall and latent heating structure simulated by two convective parameterization schemes显示文摘Using the latest version of SAMIL (Spectral Atmosphere Model of IAP LASG) developed by LASG/IAP,we evaluate the model performance by analyzing rainfall, latent heating structure and other basic fields with two different convective parameterization schemes:Manabe Scheme and Tiedtke Scheme. Results show that convective precipitation is excessively overestimated while stratiform precipitation is underestimated by Tiedtke scheme, thus causing less stratiform rainfall proportion compared with TRMM observation. In contrast, for Manabe scheme stratiform rainfall belt is well simulated, although precipitation center near Bay of Bengal (BOB) spreads eastward and northward associated with unrealistic strong rainfall downstream of the Tibet Plateau. The simulated latent heating structure indicates that Tiedtke scheme has an advantage over Manabe scheme,as the maximum convective latent heating near middle of troposphere is well reproduced. Moreover, the stratiform latent heating structure is also well simulated by Tiedtke scheme with warming above freezing level and cooling beneath freezing level. As for Manabe scheme, the simulated maximum convective latent heating lies near 700 hPa,lower than the observation.Additionally, the warming due to stratiform latent heating extends to the whole vertical levels, which is unreasonable compared with observation.Taylor diagram further indicates that Tiedtke scheme is superior to Manabe scheme as higher correlation between model output and observation data is achieved when Tiedtke scheme is employed, especially for the temperature near 200 hPa.Finally,a possible explanation is addressed for the unrealistic stratiform rainfall by Tiedtke scheme, which is due to the neglect of detrained cloud water and cloud ice during convective process. The speculation is verified through an established sensitivity experiment. | WANG XiaoCong BAO Qing LIU Kun WU GuoXiong LIU YiMin | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,11: | 8
Modifying the Autism Spectrum Rating Scale(6–18 years)to a Chinese Context:An Exploratory Factor Analysis显示文摘The purpose of this study was to explore the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the autism spectrum rating scale(ASRS). We recruited 1,625community-based children and 211 autism spectrum disorder(ASD) cases from 4 sites, and the parents of all participants completed the Chinese version of the ASRS. A robust weighted least squares means and variance adjusted estimator was used for exploratory factor analysis. The3-factor structure included 59 items suitable for the current sample. The item reliability for the modi?ed Chinese version of the ASRS(MC-ASRS) was excellent. Moreover, with 60 as the cut-off point, receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the MC-ASRS had excellent discriminate validity, comparable to that of the unmodi?ed Chinese version(UC-ASRS), with area under the curve values of 0.952(95% CI: 0.936–0.967) and 0.948(95% CI:0.930–0.965), respectively. Meanwhile, the con?rm factor analysis revealed that MC-ASRS had a better construct validity than UC-ASRS based on the above factor solution in another children sample. In conclusion, the MC-ASRS shows better ef?cacy in epidemiological screening for ASD in Chinese children. | Hao Zhou Lili Zhang Xuerong Luo Lijie Wu Xiaobing Zou Kun Xia Yimin Wang Xiu Xu Xiaoling Ge Yong-Hui Jiang Eric Fombonne Weili Yan Yi Wang | 2017 | Neuroscience Bulletin2017,33,2: | 8
Two types of summertime heating over Asian large-scale orography and excitation of potential-vorticity forcing II.Sensible heating over Tibetan-Iranian Plateau显示文摘Based on analysis and simulation, the interaction of thermal forcing between the Tibetan Plateau(TP) and Iranian Plateau(IP) in summer is investigated.Associated influences on water vapor transport in the Asian subtropical monsoon region and the formation of a cold center in the lower stratosphere over Eurasia are also investigated. Results show that surface sensible heating(SH) over the two plateaus not only have mutual influences but also feedback to each other.SH over the IP can reduce the SH and increase the LH over the TP,whereas the SH over the TP can increase surface heating over the IP,thereby reaching quasi-equilibrium among the SH and LH over the TP,IP SH and atmosphere vertical motion. Therefore, the so-called Tibetan-Iranian Plateau coupling system(TIPS) is constructed, which influences atmosphere circulation. In the TIPS system, interaction between surface SH and LH over the TP plays a leading role.SH of the IP and TP influences on other regions not only have superimposed effects but also mutually offset.Accounting for contributions to the convergence of water vapor transport in the Asian subtropical monsoon region,TP SH contributes more than twice that of the IP.The combined influence of SH over TP and IP represents the major contribution to the convergence of water vapor transport in that region. In addition, the heating effect of TIPS increases the upper tropospheric temperature maximum and lifts the tropopause, cooling the lower stratosphere.Combined with large-scale thermal forcing of the Eurasian continent, the TIPS produces a strong anticyclonic circulation and the South Asian High that warms the upper troposphere and cools the lower stratosphere, thereby affecting regional and global weather and climate. | LIU YiMin WANG ZiQian ZHUO HaiFeng WU GuoXiong | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 7
The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. The crucial role of FGOALS as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences is highlighted by demonstrating the model's performances in the simulation of the evolution of Earth's climate from the past to the future. | TianJun Zhou Bin Wang YongQiang Yu YiMin Liu WeiPeng Zheng LiJuan Li Bo Wu PengFei Lin Zhun Guo WenMin Man Qing Bao AnMin Duan HaiLong Liu XiaoLong Chen Bian He JianDong Li LiWei Zou XiaoCong Wang LiXia Zhang Yong Sun WenXia Zhang | 2018 | Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,4: | 6
