1Extracorporeal shock-wave versus pneumatic ureteroscopic lithotripsy in treatment of lower ureteral calculi显示文摘Aim:To compae the efficacy and complications of extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy (SWL) and pneumatic ureteroscopic lithotripsy(URS) in the treatment of lower ureteral calculi.Methods:From August 1997 to June 1999,210 patients with calculi in the distal third of the ureter were treated with SWL and other 180 with URS.The stones were fragmented with either HB-ESWL-V lithotripter or JML-93 pneumatic lithotripter through Wolf 7.5-9.0 Fr ureteroscope.The outcome was assessed in terms of stone clearance rate,re-treatment rate and complication incidence.Results:the stone clearance rate was 78.1% with SWL and 93.3% with URS (p<0.05).SWL had a re-treatment rate of 11.9%,vs 2.2% in the URS group (P<0.05).URS caused ureteral perforation in 3.3% of patients,while it was o with SWL (P<0.05).The differences in the incidence of other complications such as infection and stricture between the two groups were insignificant.conclusion:Though the selection of these two options depends on equipments available and the expertise of the operator,we recomment URS as the optimal treatment for distal ureteral calculi.Zeng, GQ Zhong, WD Cai, YB Dai, QS Hu, JB Wei, HA 2002Asian Journal of Andrology2002,4,4:17

3Protective effect of thodioloside and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells infected with HIF-1-expressing adenovirus on acute spinal cord injury显示文摘Rhodioloside has been shown to protect cells from hypoxia injury,and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells have a good effect on tissue repair.To study the effects of rhodioloside and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on spinal cord injury,a rat model of spinal cord injury was established using the Infinite Horizons method.After establishing the model,the rats were randomly divided into five groups.Rats in the control group were intragastrically injected with phosphate buffered saline(PBS)(5μL).PBS was injected at 6 equidistant points around 5 mm from the injury site and at a depth of 5 mm.Rats in the rhodioloside group were intragastrically injected with rhodioloside(5 g/kg)and intramuscularly injected with PBS.Rats in the mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)group were intramuscularly injected with PBS and intramuscularly with MSCs(8×10^6/mL in a 50-μL cell suspension).Rats in the Ad-HIF-MSC group were intragastrically injected with PBS and intramuscularly injected with HIF-1 adenovirus-infected MSCs.Rats in the rhodioloside+Ad-HIF-MSC group were intramuscularly injected with MSCs infected with the HIF-1 adenovirus and intragastrically injected with rhodioloside.One week after treatment,exercise recovery was evaluated with a modified combined behavioral score scale.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and Pischingert’s methylene blue staining were used to detect any histological or pathological changes in spinal cord tissue.Levels of adenovirus IX and Sry mRNA were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and used to determine the number of adenovirus and mesenchymal stem cells that were transfected into the spinal cord.Immunohistochemical staining was applied to detect HIF-1 protein levels in the spinal cord.The results showed that:(1)compared with the other groups,the rhodioloside+Ad-HIF-MSC group exhibited the highest combined behavioral score(P<0.05),the most recovered tissue,and the greatest number of neurons,as indicated by Pischingert’s methylene blue staining.(2)Compared with the PBS group,HIF-1 protein expression was greater in the rhodioloside group(P<0.05).(3)Compared with the Ad-HIF-MSC group,Sry mRNA levels were higher in the rhodioloside+Ad-HIF-MSC group(P<0.05).These results confirm that rhodioloside combined with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells can promote the recovery of spinal cord injury and activate the HIF-1 pathway to promote the survival of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and repair damaged neurons within spinal cord tissue.This experiment was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,China(approval No.2015KYLL029)in June 2015.Xiao-Qin Ha Bo Yang Huai-Jing Hou Xiao-Ling Cai Wan-Yuan Xiong Xu-Pan Wei 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,4:9
4Hypoxia-stressed cardiomyocytes promote early cardiac differentiation of cardiac stem cells through HIF-1α/Jagged1/Notch1 signaling显示文摘Hypoxia is beneficial for the differentiation of stem cells transplanted for myocardial injury,but mechanisms underlying this benefit remain unsolved. Here, we report the impact of hypoxia-induced Jagged1 expression in cardiomyocytes(CMs) for driving the differentiation of cardiac stem cells(CSCs).Forced hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α) expression and physical hypoxia(5% O_2) treatment could induce Jagged1 expression in neonatal rat CMs. Pharmacological inhibition of HIF-1α by YC-1 attenuated hypoxia-promoted Jagged1 expression in CMs. An ERK inhibitor(PD98059), but not inhibitors of JNK(SP600125), Notch(DAPT), NF-κB(PTDC), JAK(AG490), or STAT3(Stattic) suppressed hypoxiainduced Jagged1 protein expression in CMs. c-Kit^+ CSCs isolated from neonatal rat hearts using a magnetic-activated cell sorting method expressed GATA4, SM22α or vWF, but not Nkx2.5 and cTnI.Moreover, 87.3% of freshly isolated CSCs displayed Notch1 receptor expression. Direct co-culture of CMs with BrdU-labeled CSCs enhanced CSCs differentiation, as evidenced by an increased number of BrdU^+/Nkx2.5^+ cells, while intermittent hypoxia for 21 days promoted co-culture-triggered differentiation of CSCs into CM-like cells. 5A TCP Performance Enhancement Scheme in Infrastructure based Vehicular Networks显示文摘Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) in infrastructure based vehicular networks is dedicated to support reliable Internet services for mobile users.However,an end-toend TCP flow not only experiences some common challenges in wireless mobile networks,such as high packet loss rate,medium access competition,unstable wireless bandwidth,and dynamic topology,etc.,but also suffers from performance degradation due to traffic congestion at the Road-Side Units(RSUs) that connect the wireline and wireless networks.In order to address the challenging issues related to reliable TCP transmissions in infrastructure based vehicular networks,we propose an RSU based TCP(R-TCP) scheme.For wireline source nodes,R-TCP adopts a novel flow control mechanism to adjust transmission rates according to the status of bottleneck link.Specifically,during the short wireless connection time in Infrastructure based vehicular networks,R-TCP quickly chooses an ideal transmission rate for data transmissions instead of activating the slow start algorithm after the connection is established,and successfully avoids the oscillation of the transmission rate.Simulation results show that R-TCP achieves great advantages than some relate proposals in terms of throughput,end-to-end delay,and packet loss rate.HA Le FANG Lijin BI Yuanguo LIU Wei 2015China Communications2015,12,6:5
6FGFR2 mutation in a Chinese family with unusual Crouzon syndrome显示文摘AIM:To describe the clinical characteristics with genetic lesions in a Chinese family with Crouzon syndrome. METHODS: All five patients from this family were included and received comprehensive ophthalmic and systemic examinations.Direct sequencing of the FGFR2 gene was employed for mutation identification.Crystal structure analysis was applied to analyze the structural changes associated with the substitution. RESULTS: All patients presented typical Crouzon features,including short stature,craniosynostosis,mandibular prognathism,shallow orbits with proptosis,and exotropia.Intrafamilial phenotypic diversities were observed.Atrophic optic nerves were exclusively detected in the proband and her son.Cranial magnetic resonance imaging implied a cystic lesion in her sellar and third ventricular regions.A missense mutation,FGFR2 p.Cys342 Trp,was found as disease causative.This substitution would generate conformational changes in the extracellular Ig-III domain of the FGFR-2 protein,thus altering its physical and biological properties.CONCLUSION: We describe the clinical presentations and genotypic lesions in a Chinese family with Crouzon syndrome.The intrafamilial phenotypic varieties in this family suggest that other genetic modifiers may also play a role in the pathogenesis of Crouzon syndrome.Zi-Li Li Xue Chen Wen-Juan Zhuang Wei Zhao Ya-Ni Liu Fang-Xia Zhang Ruo-Shui Ha Jin-Hua Wu Chen Zhao Xun-Lun Sheng 2016International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,10:4

9Multicenter evaluation of recurrence in endoscopic submucosal dissection and endoscopic mucosal resection in the colon:A Western perspective显示文摘BACKGROUND While colon endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)is an effective technique,removal of larger polyps often requires piecemeal resection,which can increase recurrence rates.Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)in the colon offers the ability for en bloc resection and is well-described in Asia,but there are limited studies comparing ESD vs EMR in the West.AIM To evaluate different techniques in endoscopic resection of large polyps in the colon and to identify factors for recurrence.METHODS The study is a retrospective comparison of ESD,EMR and knife-assisted endoscopic resection performed at Stanford University Medical Center and Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System between 2016 and 2020.Knife-assisted endoscopic resection was defined as use of electrosurgical knife to facilitate snare resection,such as for circumferential incision.Patients≥18 years of age undergoing colonoscopy with removal of polyp(s)≥20 mm were included.The primary outcome was recurrence on follow-up.RESULTS A total of 376 patients and 428 polyps were included.Mean polyp size was greatest in the ESD group(35.8 mm),followed by knife-assisted endoscopic resection(33.3 mm)and EMR(30.5 mm)(P<0.001).ESD achieved highest en bloc resection(90.4%)followed by knife-assisted endoscopic resection(31.1%)and EMR(20.2%)(P<0.001).A total of 287 polyps had follow-up(67.1%).On follow-up analysis,recurrence rate was lowest in knife-assisted endoscopic resection(0.0%)and ESD(1.3%)and highest in EMR(12.9%)(P=0.0017).En bloc polyp resection had significantly lower rate of recurrence(1.9%)compared to non-en bloc(12.0%,P=0.003).On multivariate analysis,ESD(in comparison to EMR)adjusted for polyp size was found to significantly reduce risk of recurrence[adjusted hazard ratio 0.06(95%CI:0.01-0.57,P=0.014)].CONCLUSION In our study,EMR had significantly higher recurrence compared to ESD and knife-assisted endoscopic resection.We found factors including resection by ESD,en bloc removal,and use of circumferential incision were associated with significantly decreased recurrence.While further studies are needed,we have demonstrated the efficacy of ESD in a Western population.Mike T Wei Margaret J Zhou Andrew A Li Andrew Ofosu Joo Ha Hwang Shai Friedland 2023World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2023,15,6:2
10The advance in obtaining fault slip rate of strike slip fault-A review显示文摘Slip rate along the major active fault is an important parameter in the quantitative study of active tectonics.It is the average rate of fault slip during a certain period of time,reflecting the rate of strain energy accumulation on the fault zone.It cannot only be directly applied to evaluate the activity of the fault,the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis,but also important basic data for the study of geodynamics.However,due to the nonstandardized process of obtaining fault slip rates for a given strike-slip fault,the results could be diverse based on various methods by different researchers.In this review,we analyzed the main advances in the approaches to obtain fault slip rate.We found that there are four main sources affecting the final results of slip rate:the displacement along the fault,the dating of the corresponding displacement,the fitting of the displacement and corresponding dating results,and paleoslip analysis.The main advances in obtaining fault slip rates are based on improving the reli-ability of the above four main factors.To obtain a more reasonable and reliable slip rate for a given fault,it is necessary to select a suitable method according to the specific situation.Jinrui Liu Zhikun Ren Wei Min Guanghao Ha Jinghao Lei 2021Earthquake Research Advances2021,1,4:2
11Current status and trends in forest genomics显示文摘Forests are not only the most predominant of the Earth's terrestrial ecosystems,but are also the core supply for essential products for human use.However,global climate change and ongoing population explosion severely threatens the health of the forest ecosystem and aggravtes the deforestation and forest degradation.Forest genomics has great potential of increasing forest productivity and adaptation to the changing climate.In the last two decades,the field of forest genomics has advanced quickly owing to the advent of multiple high-throughput sequencing technologies,single cell RNA-seq,clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)-mediated genome editing,and spatial transcriptomes,as well as bioinformatics analysis technologies,which have led to the generation of multidimensional,multilayered,and spatiotemporal gene expression data.These technologies,together with basic technologies routinely used in plant biotechnology,enable us to tackle many important or unique issues in forest biology,and provide a panoramic view and an integrative elucidation of molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying phenotypic changes and variations.In this review,we recapitulated the advancement and current status of 12 research branches of forest genomics,and then provided future research directions and focuses for each area.Evidently,a shift from simple biotechnology-based research to advanced and integrative genomics research,and a setup for investigation and interpretation of many spatiotemporal development and differentiation issues in forest genomics have just begun to emerge.Dulal Borthakur Victor Busov Xuan Hieu Cao Qingzhang Du Oliver Gailing Fikret Isik Jae-Heung Ko Chenghao Li Quanzi Li Shihui Niu Guanzheng Qu Thi Ha Giang Vu Xiao-Ru Wang Zhigang Wei Lin Zhang Hairong Wei 2022Forestry Research2022,2,1:2
