| 3 | Structure evolution of oxygen removal from porous carbon for optimizing supercapacitor performance显示文摘The presence of oxygen functional groups is detrimental to the capacitive performance of porous carbon electrode in organic electrolyte. In this regards, hydrogen thermal reduction has been demonstrated effective approach in removing the unstable surface oxygen while maintaining the high porosity of carbon matrix. However, the exact evolution mechanism of various oxygen species during this process, as well as the correlation with electrochemical properties, is still under development. Herein, biomass-based porous carbon is adopted as the model material to trace its structure evolution of oxygen removal under hydrogen thermal reduction process with the temperature range of 400–800 °C. The optimum microstructure with low oxygen content of 0.90% and proper pore size distribution was achieved at 700°C. XPS, TPRMS and Boehm titration results indicate that the oxygen elimination undergoes three distinctive stages(intermolecular dehydration, hydrogenation and decomposition reactions). The optimum microstructure with low oxygen content of 0.90% and proper pore size distribution was achieved at 700 °C. Benefiting from the stable electrochemical interface and the optimized porous structure, the as-obtained HAC-700 exhibit significantly suppressed self-discharge and leak current, with improved cycling stability, which is attributable to the stabilization of electrochemical interface between carbon surface and electrolyte. | 4 | The effect of dissolved oxygen concentration on long-term stability of partial nitrification process显示文摘Dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration is regarded as one of the crucial factors to influence partial nitrification process.However,achieving and keeping stable partial nitrification under different DO concentrations were widely reported.The mechanism of DO concentration influencing partial nitrification is still unclear.Therefore,in this study two same sequencing batch reactors(SBRs)cultivated same seeding sludge were built up with realtime control strategy.Different DO concentrations were controlled in SBRs to explore the effect of DO concentration on the long-term stability of partial nitrification process at room temperature.It was discovered that ammonium oxidation rate(AOR)was inhibited when DO concentration decreased from 2.5 to 0.5 mg/L.The abundance of Nitrospira increased from 1011.5 to 1013.7 copies/g DNA,and its relative percentage increased from 0.056%to 3.2%during 190 operational cycles,causing partial nitrification gradually turning into complete nitrification process.However,when DO was 2.5 mg/L the abundance of Nitrospira was stable and AOB was always kept at 1010.7 copies/g DNA.High AOR was maintained,and stable partial nitrification process was kept.Ammonia oxidizing bacteria(AOB)activity was significantly higher than nitrite oxidizing bacteria(NOB)activity at DO of 2.5 mg/L,which was crucial to maintain excellent nitrite accumulation performance. | Bin Cui Qing Yang Xiuhong Liu Siting Huang Yubing Yang Zhibin Liu | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4: | 12 |

| 10 | Depression accelerates gastric cancer invasion and metastasis by inducing a neuroendocrine phenotype via the catecholamine/β_(2)-AR/MACC1 axis显示文摘Background:Depression is a common,easily ignored,accompanied disease of gastric cancer(GC)patients and is often observed with elevated plasma catecholamine levels.Depression frequently promotes GC progression and leads to poor clinical outcomes;however,the molecular mechanisms underlying depression-induced GC progression remain poorly understood.We aimed to study the effects of depression on GC progression and explore possible mechanisms mediating the action of depression-associated catecholamines on GC.Methods:Depression states of GC patients were graded using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and plasma catecholamine levels were examined by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry.Migrative and invasive GC cells were examined using transwell assays,and metastatic GC niches were imaged using bioluminescence technology in a depression mouse model established with chronic unpredictable mild stress.Mouse depression-like behaviors were assessed through sucrose preference,forced swimming,and tail suspension tests.Characteristics of the neuroendocrine phenotype were observed via RT-PCR,Western blotting,flow cytometry,and transmission electron microscopy.Results:Fifty-one GC patients(age:53.61±1.79 years;cancer duration:3.71±0.33 months;depression duration:2.37±0.38 months;male-to-female ratio:1.55:1)were enrolled in the study.Depression grade was significantly higher in GC patients showing higher plasma levels of catecholamines(epinephrine:P=0.018;noradrenaline:P=0.009),higher oncogene metastasis-associated in colon cancer-1(MACC1)level(P=0.018),and metastasis(P<0.001).Further,depression-associated catecholamine specifically bound to the beta-2 adrenergic receptor(β_(2)-AR)and upregulated MACC1 expression,and thus promoting neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation through direct binding betweenMACC1 and synaptophysin.Eventually,the neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation accelerated GC invasion in vitro and metastasis in vivo.However,β_(2)-AR antagonist ICI-118,551 or MACC1 silencing effectively blocked the catecholamineinduced neuroendocrine phenotypic transformation and eliminated depressionenhanced GC migration and invasion.Moreover,β_(2)-AR blocking or MACC1 silencing prevented GC metastasis attributed to a neuroendocrine phenotype in a depression mouse model.Conclusions:Catecholamine-induced neuroendocrine phenotypes of GC cells led to depression-accelerated GC invasion and metastasis via the β_(2)-AR/MACC1 axis,while β_(2)-AR antagonist or MACC1 silencing could reverse it,showing promising potential therapeutic strategies for improving the outcome of GC patients with comorbid depression. | Changqie Pan Jianhua Wu Siting Zheng Huiying Sun Yisheng Fang Zhenhua Huang Min Shi Li Liang Jianping Bin Yulin Liao Jinzhang Chen Wangjun Liao | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,10: | 4 |
| 11 | Genesis of the Changba–Lijiagou Giant Pb-Zn Deposit, West Qinling, Central China: Constraints from S-Pb-C-O isotopes显示文摘The extensive Changba-Lijiagou Pb-Zn deposit is located in the north of the Xihe–Chengxian ore cluster in West Qinling. The ore bodies are mainly hosted in the marble, dolomitic marble and biotite-calcite-quartz schist of the Middle Devonian Anjiacha Formation, and are structurally controlled by the fault and anticline. The ore-forming process can be divided into three main stages, based on field geological features and mineral assemblages. The mineral assemblages of hydrothermal stage I are pale-yellow coarse grain, low Fe sphalerite, pyrite with pits, barite and biotite. The mineral assemblages of hydrothermal stage II are black-brown cryptocrystalline, high Fe shalerite, pyrite without pits, marcasite or arsenopyrite replace the pyrite with pits, K-feldspar. The features of hydrothermal stage III are calcite-quartz-sulfide vein cutting the laminated, banded ore body. Forty-two sulfur isotope analyses, twenty-five lead isotope analyses and nineteen carbon and oxygen isotope analyses were determined on sphalerite, pyrite, galena and calcite. The δ34 S values of stage I(20.3 to 29.0‰) are consistent with the δ34 S of sulfate(barite) in the stratum. Combined with geological feature, inclusion characteristics and EPMA data, we propose that TSR has played a key role in the formation of the sulfides in stage I. The δ34 S values of stage II sphalerite and pyrite(15.1 to 23.0‰) are between sulfides in the host rock, magmatic sulfur and the sulfate(barite) in the stratum. This result suggests that multiple S reservoirs were the sources for S2-in stage II. The δ34 S values of stage III(13.1 to 22‰) combined with the structure of the geological and mineral features suggest a magmatic hydrothermal origin of the mineralization. The lead isotope compositions of the sulfides have 206 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 17.9480 to 17.9782, 207 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 15.611 to 15.622, and 208 Pb/204 Pb ranging from 38.1368 to 38.1691 in the three ore-forming stages. The narrow and symmetric distributions of the lead isotope values reflect homogenization of granite and mantle sources before the Pb-Zn mineralization. The δ13 CPDB and δ18 OSMOW values of stage I range from-0.1 to 2.4‰ and from 18.8 to 21.7‰. The values and inclusion data indicate that the source of fluids in stage I was the dissolution of marine carbonate. The δ13 CPDB and δ18 OSMOW values of stage II range from-4 to 1‰ and from 12.3 to 20.3‰, suggesting multiple C-O reservoirs in the Changba deposit and the addition of mantle-source fluid to the system. The values in stage III are-3.1‰ and 19.7‰, respectively. We infer that the process of mineralization involved evaporitic salt and sedimentary organic-bearing units interacting through thermochemical sulfate reduction through the isotopic, mineralogy and inclusion evidences. Subsequently, the geology feature, mineral assemblages, EPMA data and isotopic values support the conclusion that the ore-forming hydrothermal fluids were mixed with magmatic hydrothermal fluids and forming the massive dark sphalerite, then yielding the calcite-quartz-sulfide vein ore type at the last stage. | 14 | RAVL1 Activates IDD3 to Negatively Regulate Rice Resistance to Sheath Blight Disease显示文摘Sheath blight disease (ShB) has a severe impact on the production of rice. ABI3/VP1-like 1(RAVL1) negatively regulated the rice defense mechanism against ShB, however, this regulatorymechanism is not clearly understood. In this study, we identified that indeterminate domain 3 (IDD3) waspositively regulated by RAVL1. Further, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay, yeast one-hybridassay and transient expression assay indicated a direct binding between RAVL1 and the IDD3 promoterregion. IDD3 was ubiquitously expressed in different tissues and at different stages, and its expressionwas significantly enhanced by Rhizoctonia solani infection. IDD3 exhibited transcription activation activityin yeast and IDD3-GFP was found to be localized in the nucleus. IDD3 mutants exhibited no significantdifferences in response to ShB, while IDD3 overexpressors were more susceptible to ShB compared withwild type (WT) plants. Furthermore, IDD3 repressors were less susceptible to R. solani than WT plants.Interestingly, the expression of brassinosteroid-related genes (D2, D11 and BRI1) was lower in IDD3repressors and higher in IDD3 overexpressors compared with WT. However, the ChIP assay revealedthat IDD3 did not directly bind to the D2 and D11 promoters. Overexpression of IDD3 in BRI1 mutantd61-1 inhibited the activity of IDD3, reducing its susceptibility to ShB compared with IDD3 overexpressorand WT plants, indicating that IDD3 negatively regulated the rice defense mechanism against ShB by activatingthe BR signaling pathway. | 15 | Predictors of itch and pain in the 12 months following burn injury:results from the Burns Registry of Australia and New Zealand(BRANZ)Long-Term Outcomes Project显示文摘Background:Itch and pain are common complaints of patients with burn injuries.This study aimed to describe the prevalence and predictors of itch and moderate to severe pain in the first 12 months following a burn injury,and determine the association between itch,moderate to severe pain,workrelated outcomes,and health-related quality of life following a burn injury.Methods:Burn patients aged 18 years and older were recruited from five Australian specialist burn units.Patients completed the 36-item Short Form Health Survey Version 2(SF-36 V2),the Sickness Impact Profile(SIP)work scale,and a specially developed questionnaire relating to itch at 1,6,and 12 months post-injury.Moderate to severe pain was defined as a score less than 40 on the bodily pain domain of the SF-36 V2.Multivariate mixed-effects regression models were used to identify patient and burn injury predictors of itch and moderate to severe pain.Results:Three hundred and twenty-eight patients were included.The prevalence of itch decreased from 50%at 1 month to 27%at 12 months.Similarly,the prevalence of moderate to severe pain decreased from 23%at 1 month to 13%at 12 months.Compared to patients aged 18-34,the adjusted odds of experiencing any itch were 59%(95%CI:0.20,0.82)and 55%(95%CI:0.22,0.91)lower for patients aged between 35 and 49 and≥50 years,respectively.Compared to patients aged 18-34,the adjusted odds of experiencing moderate to severe pain were 3.12(95%CI:1.35,7.20)and 3.42(95%CI:1.47,7.93)times higher for patients aged 35-49 and≥50 years,respectively.Conclusions:Less than 15%of patients reported moderate or severe pain at 12 months,while approximately one-quarter of the patients reported itch at the same period.The presence of moderate to severe pain was associated with a greater negative impact on health-related quality of life and work outcomes compared to itch.Further research is needed to improve our ability to identify patients at higher risk of persistent itch and pain who would benefit from targeted review and intervention studies. | Lincoln M.Tracy Dale W.Edgar Rebecca Schrale Heather Cleland Belinda J.Gabbe on behalf of the BRANZ Adult Long-Term Outcomes Pilot Project participating sites and working party | 2020 | Burns & Trauma2020,8,1: | 2 |
| 16 | Equilibrium and kinetic Si isotope fractionation factors and their implications for Si isotope distributions in the Earth's surface environments显示文摘Several important equilibrium Si isotope fractionation factors among minerals,organic molecules and the H_4SiO_4 solution are complemented to facilitate the explanation of the distributions of Si isotopes in Earth's surface environments.The results reveal that,in comparison to aqueous H_4SiO_4,heavy Si isotopes will be significantly enriched in secondary silicate minerals.On the contrary,quadra-coordinated organosilicon complexes are enriched in light silicon isotope relative to the solution.The extent of ^(28)Si-enrichment in hyper-coordinated organosilicon complexes was found to be the largest.In addition,the large kinetic isotope effect associated with the polymerization of monosilicic acid and dimer was calculated,and the results support the previous statement that highly ^(28)Sienrichment in the formation of amorphous quartz precursor contributes to the discrepancy between theoretical calculations and field observations.With the equilibrium Si isotope fractionation factors provided here,Si isotope distributions in many of Earth's surface systems can be explained.For example,the change of bulk soil δ^(30)Si can be predicted as a concave pattern with respect to the weathering degree,with the minimum value where allophane completely dissolves and the total amount of sesquioxides and poorly crystalline minerals reaches their maximum.When,under equilibrium conditions,the well-crystallized clays start to precipitate from the pore solutions,the bulk soil δ^(30)Si will increase again and reach a constant value.Similarly,the precipitation of crystalline smectite and the dissolution of poorly crystalline kaolinite may explain the δ^(30)Si variations in the ground water profile.The equilibrium Si isotope fractionations among the quadracoordinated organosilicon complexes and the H_4SiO_4solution may also shed light on the Si isotope distributions in the Si-accumulating plants. | Hong-tao He Siting Zhang Chen Zhu Yun Liu | 2016 | Acta Geochimica2016,35,1: | 2 |
| 17 | HSF1 facilitates the multistep process of lymphatic metastasis in bladder cancer via a novel PRMT5-WDR5-dependent transcriptional program显示文摘Background:Lymphatic metastasis has been associated with poor prognosis in bladder cancer patients with limited therapeutic options.Emerging evidence shows that heat shock factor 1(HSF1)drives diversified transcriptome to promote tumor growth and serves as a promising therapeutic target.However,the roles of HSF1 in lymphatic metastasis remain largely unknown.Herein,we aimed to illustrate the clinical roles and mechanisms of HSF1 in the lymphatic metastasis of bladder cancer and explore its therapeutic potential.Methods:We screened the most relevant gene to lymphatic metastasis among overexpressed heat shock factors(HSFs)and heat shock proteins(HSPs),and analyzed its clinical relevance in three cohorts.Functional in vitro and in vivo assays were performed in HSF1-silenced and-regained models.We also used Coimmunoprecipitation to identify the binding proteins of HSF1 and chromatin immunoprecipitation and dual-luciferase reporter assays to investigate the transcriptional program directed by HSF1.The pharmacological inhibitor of HSF1,KRIBB11,was evaluated in popliteal lymph node metastasis models and patientderived xenograft models of bladder cancer.Results:HSF1 expression was positively associated with lymphatic metastasis status,tumor stage,advanced grade,and poor prognosis of bladder cancer.Importantly,HSF1 enhanced the epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of cancer cells in primary tumor to initiate metastasis,proliferation of cancer cells in lymph nodes,and macrophages infiltration to facilitate multistep lymphatic metastasis.Mechanistically,HSF1 interacted with protein arginine methyltransferase 5(PRMT5)and jointly induced the monomethylation of histone H3 at arginine 2(H3R2me1)and symmetric dimethylation of histone H3 at arginine 2(H3R2me2s).This recruited the WD repeat domain 5(WDR5)/mixed-lineage leukemia(MLL)complex to increase the trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 4(H3K4me3);resulting in upregulation of lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1(LEF1),matrix metallopeptidase 9(MMP9),C-C motif chemokine ligand 20(CCL20),and E2F transcription factor 2(E2F2).Application of KRIBB11 significantly inhibited the lymphatic metastasis of bladder cancer with no significant toxicity.Conclusion:Our findings reveal a novel transcriptional program directed by the HSF1-PRMT5-WDR5 axis during the multistep process of lymphatic metastasis in bladder cancer.Targeting HSF1 could be a multipotent and promising therapeutic strategy for bladder cancer patients with lymphatic metastasis. | Ming Huang Wen Dong Ruihui Xie Jilin Wu Qiao Su Wuguo Li Kai Yao Yuelong Chen Qianghua Zhou Qiang Zhang Wenwen Li Liang Cheng Shengmeng Peng Siting Chen Jian Huang Xu Chen Tianxin Lin | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,5: | 2 |
