1Subchondral bone microenvironment in osteoarthritis and pain显示文摘Osteoarthritis comprises several joint disorders characterized by articular cartilage degeneration and persistent pain,causing disability and economic burden.The incidence of osteoarthritis is rapidly increasing worldwide due to aging and obesity trends.Basic and clinical research on osteoarthritis has been carried out for decades,but many questions remain unanswered.The exact role of subchondral bone during the initiation and progression osteoarthritis remains unclear.Accumulating evidence shows that subchondral bone lesions,including bone marrow edema and angiogenesis,develop earlier than cartilage degeneration.Clinical interventions targeting subchondral bone have shown therapeutic potential,while others targeting cartilage have yielded disappointing results.Abnormal subchondral bone remodeling,angiogenesis and sensory nerve innervation contribute directly or indirectly to cartilage destruction and pain.This review is about bone-cartilage crosstalk,the subchondral microenvironment and the critical role of both in osteoarthritis progression.It also provides an update on the pathogenesis of and interventions for osteoarthritis and future research targeting subchondral bone.Yan Hu Xiao Chen Sicheng Wang Yingying Jing Jiacan Su 2021Bone Research2021,9,3:24
2Status and challenges facing representative anode materials for rechargeable lithium batteries显示文摘Rechargeable lithium batteries have been widely regarded as a revolutionary technology to store renewable energy sources and extensively researched in the recent several decades.As an indispensable part of lithium batteries,the evolution of anode materials has significantly promoted the development of lithium batteries.However,since conventional lithium batteries with graphite anodes cannot meet the ever-increasing demands in different application scenarios(such as electric vehicles and large-scale power supplies)which require high energy/power density and long cycle life,various improvement strategies and alternative anode materials have been exploited for better electrochemical performance.In this review,we detailedly introduced the characteristics and challenges of four representative anode materials for rechargeable lithium batteries,including graphite,Li_(4)Ti_(5)O_(12),silicon,and lithium metal.And some of the latest advances are summarized,which mainly contain the modification strategies of anode materials and partially involve the optimization of electrode/electrolyte interface.Finally,we make the conclusive comments and perspectives,and draw a development timeline on the four anode materials.This review aims to offer a good primer for newcomers in the lithium battery field and benefit the structure and material design of anodes for advanced rechargeable lithium batteries in the future.Liqiang Zhang Chenxi Zhu Sicheng Yu Daohan Ge Haoshen Zhou 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,3:13
3CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 Historical Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project Simulation显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System(FGOALS-f3-L) model for the baseline experiment of the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project simulation in the Diagnostic,Evaluation and Characterization of Klima common experiments of phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6) are described in this paper. The CAS FGOALS-f3-L model, experiment settings, and outputs are all given. In total,there are three ensemble experiments over the period 1979–2014, which are performed with different initial states. The model outputs contain a total of 37 variables and include the required three-hourly mean, six-hourly transient, daily and monthly mean datasets. The baseline performances of the model are validated at different time scales. The preliminary evaluation suggests that the CAS FGOALS-f3-L model can capture the basic patterns of atmospheric circulation and precipitation well, including the propagation of the Madden–Julian Oscillation, activities of tropical cyclones, and the characterization of extreme precipitation. 4Analyses of circRNA profiling during the development from pre-receptive to receptive phases in the goat endometrium显示文摘Background: Recent studies have revealed that noncoding RNAs play important regulatory roles in the formation of endometrial receptivity.Circular RNAs(circRNAs) are a universally expressed noncoding RNA species that have been recently proposed to act as miRNA sponges that directly regulate expression of target genes or parental genes.Results: We used Illumina Solexa technology to analyze the expression profiles of circRNAs in the endometrium from three goats at gestational day 5(pre-receptive endometrium,PE) and three goats at gestational day 15(receptive endometrium,RE).Overall,21,813 circRNAs were identified,of which 5,925 circRNAs were specific to the RE and 9,078 were specific to the PE,which suggested high stage-specificity.Further analysis found 334 differentially expressed circRNAs in the RE compared with PE(P < 0.05).The analysis of the circRNA-miRNA interaction network further supported the idea that circRNAs act as miRNA sponges to regulate gene expression.Moreover,some circRNAs were regulated by estrogen(E2)/progesterone(P4) in endometrial epithelium cell lines(EECs) and endometrial stromal cell line(ESCs),and each circRNA molecule exhibited unique regulation characteristics with respect to E2 and P4.Conclusions: These data provide an endometrium circRNA expression atlas corresponding to the biology of the goat receptive endometrium during embryo implantation.Yuxuan Song Lei Zhang Xiaorui Liu Mengxiao Niu Jiuzeng Cui Sicheng Che Yuexia Liu Xiaopeng An Binyun Cao 2019Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,3:8

6Fabrication of physical and chemical crosslinked hydrogels for bone tissue engineering显示文摘Bone tissue engineering has emerged as a significant research area that provides promising novel tools for the preparation of biomimetic hydrogels applied in bone-related diseases(e.g.,bone defects,cartilage damage,osteoarthritis,etc.).Herein,thermal sensitive polymers(e.g.,PNIPAAm,Soluplus,etc.)were introduced into main chains to fabricate biomimetic hydrogels with injectability and compatibility for those bone defect need minimally invasive surgery.Mineral ions(e.g.,calcium,copper,zinc,and magnesium),as an indispensable role in maintaining the balance of the organism,were linked with polymer chains to form functional hydrogels for accelerating bone regeneration.In the chemically triggered hydrogel section,advanced hydrogels crosslinked by different molecular agents(e.g.,genipin,dopamine,caffeic acid,and tannic acid)possess many advantages,including extensive selectivity,rapid gel-forming capacity and tunable mechanical property.Additionally,photo crosslinking hydrogel with rapid response and mild condition can be triggered by different photoinitiators(e.g.,I2959,LAP,eosin Y,riboflavin,etc.)under specific wavelength of light.Moreover,enzyme triggered hydrogels were also utilized in the tissue regeneration due to its rapid gel-forming capacity and excellent biocompatibility.Particularly,some key factors that can determine the therapy effect for bone tissue engineering were also mentioned.Finally,brief summaries and remaining issues on how to properly design clinical-oriented hydrogels were provided in this review.Xu Xue Yan Hu Sicheng Wang Xiao Chen Yingying Jiang Jiacan Su 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,6:5
7Robust Optimization of Municipal Solid Waste Collection and Transportation with Uncertain Waste Output: A Case Study显示文摘Garbage collection is an important issue in urban environmental management.With the increased awareness of urban residents regarding safety,environmental protection,and health in recent years,it is necessary to logically organize municipal solid waste collection and transportation routes while also considering economic and social benefits.This article focuses on the optimization of the waste transportation routes of garbage trucks.With the objective of minimizing transportation costs and maximizing resident satisfaction,we establish a robust optimization model for the multi-trip collection and transportation of municipal solid waste in an uncertain environment.Resident satisfaction is defined as the penalty cost against a time window constraint.The Bertsimas robust optimization method is applied to characterize the uncertainty,and the decision-making scheme of the receiving route is used to adapt to waste volume changes.We conduct a case study based on real-world data for municipal solid waste collection and transportation in the Dongcheng District of Beijing,China.The solution is validated using the CPLEX program,and the validity of the model is verified.In addition,a sensitivity analysis of related parameters is conducted to study the impacts of variations in work hour limits and time windows on the total cost and service levels,as well as their relationships with the level of robustness.This could help decision-makers make reasonable choices based on actual conditions and to balance reductions in total cost with service level improvements.Sicheng Zhang Jianwen Zhang Zhiwei Zhao Chunlin Xin 2022Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2022,31,2:4
8Electron-Induced Perpendicular Graphene Sheets Embedded Porous Carbon Film for Flexible Touch Sensors显示文摘Graphene-based materials on wearable electronics and bendable displays have received considerable attention for the mechanical flexibility,superior electrical conductivity,and high surface area,which are proved to be one of the most promising candidates of stretching and wearable sensors.However,polarized electric charges need to overcome the barrier of graphene sheets to cross over flakes to penetrate into the electrode,as the graphene planes are usually parallel to the electrode surface.By introducing electron-induced perpendicular graphene(EIPG)electrodes incorporated with a stretchable dielectric layer,a flexible and stretchable touch sensor with'in-sheet-chargestransportation'is developed to lower the resistance of carrier movement.The electrode was fabricated with porous nanostructured architecture design to enable wider variety of dielectric constants of only 50-μm-thick Ecoflex layer,leading to fast response time of only 66 ms,as well as high sensitivities of 0.13 kPa-1 below 0.1 kPa and 4.41 MPa-1 above 10 kPa,respectively.Moreover,the capacitance-decrease phenomenon of capacitive sensor is explored to exhibit an object recognition function in one pixel without any other integrated sensor.This not only suggests promising applications of the EIPG electrode in flexible touch sensors but also provides a strategy for internet of things security functions.Sicheng Chen Yunfei Wang Lei Yang Fouad Karouta Kun Sun 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,10:4

11A Multifunctional Anti-Proton Electrolyte for High-Rate and Super-Stable Aqueous Zn-Vanadium Oxide Battery显示文摘Large volumetric expansion of cathode hosts and sluggish transport kinetics in the cathode–electrolyte interface,as well as dendrite growth and hydrogen evolution at Zn anode side are considered as the system problems that cause the electrochemical failure of aqueous Zn-vanadium oxide battery.In this work,a multifunctional anti-proton electrolyte was proposed to synchronously solve all those issues.Theoretical and experimental studies confirm that PEG 400 additive can regulate the Zn^(2+) solvation structure and inhibit the ionization of free water molecules of the electrolyte.Then,smaller lattice expansion of vanadium oxide hosts and less associated by-product formation can be realized by using such electrolyte.Besides,such electrolyte is also beneficial to guide the uniform Zn deposition and suppress the side reaction of hydrogen evolution.Owing to the integrated synergetic modifica-tion,a high-rate and ultrastable aqueous Zn-V_(2)O_(3)/C battery can be constructed,which can remain a specific capacity of 222.8 m Ah g^(-1)after 6000 cycles at 5 A g^(-1),and 121.8 m Ah g^(-1) even after 18,000 cycles at 20 A g^(-1),respectively.Such“all-in-one”solution based on the electrolyte design provides a new strategy for developing high-performance aqueous Zn-ion battery.Yangwu Chen Dingtao Ma Kefeng Ouyang Ming Yang Sicheng Shen Yanyi Wang Hongwei Mi Lingna Sun Chuanxin He Peixin Zhang 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,9:3
12M2-specific reduction of CD1d switches NKT cell-mediated immune responses and triggers metaflammation in adipose tissue显示文摘Metaflammation is responsible for several metabolic syndromes,such as type 2 diabetes.However,the mechanisms by which metabolic disorders trigger metaflammation remain unclear.We identified a cell type-specific downregulation of CD1d expression in M2 macrophages during the progression of obesity prior to the onset of inflammation in visceral adipose tissues.A reduction in CD1d expression influenced the ability of M2 macrophages to present antigens and caused a change in antigen-presenting cells from M2 macrophages to M1 macrophages.With CD1d conditional knockout(KO)mice,we further demonstrated that natural killer T(NKT)cell activation by M2 macrophages inhibited metaflammation and insulin resistance by promoting Th2 responses and M2 polarization in visceral adipose tissues of obese mice,whereas NKT cell activation by M1 macrophages exacerbated metaflammation and insulin resistance by promoting Th1 responses and inhibiting M2 polarization.Our results suggest that an M2-specific reduction of CD1d is an initiating event that switches NKT cell-mediated immune responses and disrupts the immune balance in visceral adipose tissues in obese mice.Huimin Zhang Rufeng Xue Shasha Zhu Sicheng Fu Zuolong Chen Rongbin Zhou Zhigang Tian Li Bai 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,5:3

14Automated recognition and mapping of building management system (BMS) data points for building energy modeling (BEM)显示文摘With the advance of the internet of things and building management system(BMS)in modern buildings,there is an opportunity of using the data to extend the use of building energy modeling(BEM)beyond the design phase.Potential applications include retrofit analysis,measurement and verification,and operations and controls.However,while BMS is collecting a vast amount of operation data,different suppliers and sensor installers typically apply their own customized or even random non-uniform rules to define the metadata,i.e.,the point tags.This results in a need to interpret and manually map any BMS data before using it for energy analysis.The mapping process is labor-intensive,error-prone,and requires comprehensive prior knowledge.Additionally,BMS metadata typically has considerable variety and limited context information,limiting the applicability of existing interpreting methods.In this paper,we proposed a text mining framework to facilitate interpreting and mapping BMS points to EnergyPlus variables.The framework is based on unsupervised density-based clustering(DBSCAN)and a novel fuzzy string matching algorithm“X-gram”.Therefore,it is generalizable among different buildings and naming conventions.We compare the proposed framework against commonly used baselines that include morphological analysis and widely used text mining techniques.Using two building cases from Singapore and two from the United States,we demonstrated that the framework outperformed baseline methods by 25.5%,with the measurement extraction F-measure of 87.2%and an average mapping accuracy of 91.4%.Sicheng Zhan Adrian Chong Bertrand Lasternas 2021Building Simulation2021,14,1:3
15Sufficient conditions of Rayleigh-Taylor stability and instability in equatorial ionosphere显示文摘Rayleigh-Taylor(R-T) instability is known as the fundamental mechanism of equatorial plasma bubbles(EPBs). However, the sufficient conditions of R-T instability and stability have not yet been derived. In the present paper, the sufficient conditions of R-T stability and instability are preliminarily derived. Linear equations for small perturbation are first obtained from the electron/ion continuity equations, momentum equations, and the current continuity equation in the equatorial ionosphere. The linear equations can be casted as an eigenvalue equation using a normal mode method. The eigenvalue equation is a variable coefficient linear equation that can be solved using a variational approach. With this approach, the sufficient conditions can be obtained as follows: if the minimum systematic eigenvalue is greater than one, the ionosphere is R-T unstable; while if the maximum systematic eigenvalue is less than one, the ionosphere is R-T stable. An approximate numerical method for obtaining the systematic eigenvalues is introduced, and the R-T stable/unstable areas are calculated. Numerical experiments are designed to validate the sufficient conditions. 16Cyst(e)ine in nutrition formulation promotes colon cancer growth and chemoresistance by activating mTORCl and scavenging ROS显示文摘Weight loss and cachexia are common problems in colorectal cancer patients;thus,parenteral and enteral nutrition support play important roles in cancer care.However,the impact of nonessential amino acid components of nutritional intake on cancer progression has not been fully studied.In this study,we discovered that gastrointestinal cancer patients who received cysteine as part of the parenteral nutrition had shorter overall survival(P<0.001)than those who did not.Cystine indeed robustly promotes colon cancer cell growth in vitro and in immunodeficient mice,predominately by inhibiting SESN2 transcription via the GCN2-ATF4 axis,resulting in mTORCl activation.mTORCl inhibitors Rapamycin and Everolimus block cystine-induced cancer cell proliferation.In addition,cystine confers resistance to oxaliplatin and irinotecan chemotherapy by quenching chemotherapy-induced reactive oxygen species via synthesizing glutathione.We demonstrated that dietary deprivation of cystine suppressed colon cancer xenograft growth without weight loss in mice and boosted the antitumor effect of oxaliplatin.These findings indicate that cyst(e)ine;as part of supplemental nutrition,plays an important role in colorectal cancer and manipulation of cyst(e)ine content in nutritional formulations may optimize colorectal cancer patient survival.Jiao Wu Sai-Ching Jim Yeung Sicheng Liu Aiham Qdaisat Dewei Jiang Wenli Liu Zhuo Cheng Wenjing Liu Haixia Wang Lu Li Zhongmei Zhou Rong Liu Chuanyu Yang Ceshi Chen Runxiang Yang 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,6:2

18PGRN exacerbates the progression of non-small cell lung cancer via PI3K/AKT/Bcl-2 antiapoptotic signaling显示文摘Progranulin(PGRN)is a growth factor that is involved in the progression of multiple tumors.However,the effects and molecular mechanisms by which PGRN induces lung cancer remain unclear.The expression level of PGRN was analyzed by conducting immunohistochemistry of the histological sections of lung tissues from non-small-cell lung carcinoma(NSCLC)patients.The proliferation,apoptosis,migration,and invasion of NSCLC cells were assessed by the MTT assay,Western blot,degree of wound healing,and Transwell assays.A nude mouse xenograft model was used to validate the role of PGRN in vivo.The expression level of PGRN was higher in male patients with lung adenocarcinoma than in those with lung squamous cell carcinoma;by contrast,no difference was observed in female patients.The overexpression of PGRN promoted the proliferation and anti-apoptosis of H520(derived from lung squamous cell carcinoma)cells,whereas knockdown of PGRN inhibited the proliferation and anti-apoptosis of A549(derived from lung adenocarcinoma)cells.Copanlisib(targeting PI3K)inhibited the increase in the expression of cell anti-apoptosis marker Bcl-2 induced by rhPGRN protein;the PI3K agonist 740 YeP partially reversed the decrease in Bcl-2 expression induced by PGRN deficiency in both A549 and H520 cells.PGRN increased the expression of Ki-67,PCNA,and Bcl-2 in vivo.PGRN inhibited cell apoptosis depending on the PI3K/Akt/Bcl-2 signaling axis;PGRN positivity correlated with lung adenocarcinoma.PGRN is a potential biomarker for the treatment and diagnosis of NSCLC,especially in lung adenocarcinoma.Sicheng Chen Mengjun Bie Xiaowen Wang Mengtian Fan Bin Chen Qiong Shi Yingjiu Jiang 2022Genes & Diseases2022,9,6:2
19Optical coherent dot-product chip for sophisticated deep learning regression显示文摘Optical implementations of neural networks(ONNs)herald the next-generation high-speed and energy-efficient deep learning computing by harnessing the technical advantages of large bandwidth and high parallelism of optics.However,due to the problems of the incomplete numerical domain,limited hardware scale,or inadequate numerical accuracy,the majority of existing ONNs were studied for basic classification tasks.Given that regression is a fundamental form of deep learning and accounts for a large part of current artificial intelligence applications,it is necessary to master deep learning regression for further development and deployment of ONNs.Here,we demonstrate a silicon-based optical coherent dot-product chip(OCDC)capable of completing deep learning regression tasks.The OCDC adopts optical fields to carry out operations in the complete real-value domain instead of in only the positive domain.Via reusing,a single chip conducts matrix multiplications and convolutions in neural networks of any complexity.Also,hardware deviations are compensated via in-situ backpropagation control provided the simplicity of chip architecture.Therefore,the OCDC meets the requirements for sophisticated regression tasks and we successfully demonstrate a representative neural network,the AUTOMAP(a cutting-edge neural network model for image reconstruction).The quality of reconstructed images by the OCDC and a 32-bit digital computer is comparable.To the best of our knowledge,there is no precedent of performing such state-of-the-art regression tasks on ONN chips.It is anticipated that the OCDC can promote the novel accomplishment of ONNs in modern AI applications including autonomous driving,natural language processing,and scientific study.Shaofu Xu Jing Wang Haowen Shu Zhike Zhang Sicheng Yi Bowen Bai Xingjun Wang Jianguo Liu Weiwen Zou 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,12:2
20DAPR-tree: a distributed spatial data indexing scheme with data access patterns to support Digital Earth initiatives显示文摘This paper proposes a novel data indexing scheme,the distributed access pattern R-tree(DAPR-tree),for spatial data retrieval in a distributed computing environment.As compared to traditional distributed indexing schemes,the DAPR-tree introduces the data access patterns during the indexing utilization stage so that a more balanced indexing structure can be provided for spatial applications(e.g.Digital Earth data warehouse).In this new indexing scheme,(a)an indexing penalty matrix is proposed by considering the balance of data number,topology and access load between different indexing nodes;(b)an‘access possibility’element is integrated to a classic‘Master-Client’structure for a distributed indexing environment;and(c)indexing algorithm for the DAPR-tree is provided for index implementations.By using a duplication of official GEOSS Clearinghouse system as a case study,the DAPR-tree was evaluated in a number of scenarios.The results show that our indexing schemes generally outperform(around 9%)traditional distributed indices with the utilization of data access patterns.Finally,we discuss the applicability of the DARP-tree and document DARP-tree shortcomings to encourage researchers pursuing related topics in Big Data indexing for Digital Earth and other geospatial initiatives.Jizhe Xia Sicheng Huang Shaobiao Zhang Xiaoming Li Jianrong Lyu Wenqun Xiu Wei Tu 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,12:1
