| 3 | Accuracy of abdominal ultrasound for the diagnosis of small bowel obstruction in the emergency department显示文摘BACKGROUND: Emergency physicians frequently encounter patients with acute small bowel obstructions(SBO). Although computed tomography(CT) imaging is the current gold standard in the assessment of patients with suspected SBO in the emergency department, a few studies have examined the use of ultrasound as an alternative imaging technique. METHODS: We evaluated the accuracy of ultrasound performed in the ED by a variety of providers(physicians with various levels of training, physician assistants) compared to CT imaging in 47 patients with suspected SBOs. RESULTS: Our data demonstrated a sensitivity of 93.8% and a specificity of 93.3% when compared to abdominal CT, and a sensitivity of 94.3% and specificity of 95.2% using a composite endpoint of abdominal CT and discharge diagnosis. | 4 | Left ventricular myxoma:Missed vs metastatic显示文摘Left ventricular myxomas account for 2.5% of all cardiac myxoma cases.There are very few case reports on left ventricular myxoma(LVM) presented after complete surgical resection of left atrial myxoma.Here we report a case of a 58-year-old male presented to the hospital for transient limb weakness,numbness and dysarthria.Magnetic resonance image of the brain revealed multiple thromboembolic cerebrovascular accidents.Transthoracic echocardiogram(TTE) revealed a left atrial myxoma.It was resected completely with good surgical margins.After one and half year he started having dizziness,and transient right sided weakness.Computer tomography scan of the head revealed a progression of thromboembolic disease.TTE revealed a LVM that was confirmed by transesophageal echocardiogram.It was resected with good surgical margins 3 wk after recurrent cerebrovascular accident. | Srikanth Seethala | 2013 | World Journal of Cardiology2013，5，10： | 2 |
