| 1 | An experimental study of elastic properties of dragonfly-like flapping wings for use in biomimetic micro air vehicles(BMAVs)显示文摘This article studies the elastic properties of several biomimetic micro air vehicle(BMAV)wings that are based on a dragonfly wing.BMAVs are a new class of unmanned micro-sized air vehicles that mimic the flapping wing motion of flying biological organisms(e.g.,insects,birds,and bats).Three structurally identical wings were fabricated using different materials:acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS),polylactic acid(PLA),and acrylic.Simplified wing frame structures were fabricated from these materials and then a nanocomposite film was adhered to them which mimics the membrane of an actual dragonfly.These wings were then attached to an electromagnetic actuator and passively flapped at frequencies of 10-250 Hz.A three-dimensional high frame rate imaging system was used to capture the flapping motions of these wings at a resolution of 320 pixels x 240 pixels and 35000 frames per second.The maximum bending angle,maximum wing tip deflection,maximum wing tip twist angle,and wing tip twist speed of each wing were measured and compared to each other and the actual dragonfly wing.The results show that the ABS wing has considerable flexibility in the chordwise direction,whereas the PLA and acrylic wings show better conformity to an actual dragonfly wing in the spanwise direction.Past studies have shown that the aerodynamic performance of a BMAV flapping wing is enhanced if its chordwise flexibility is increased and its spanwise flexibility is reduced.Therefore,the ABS wing(fabricated using a 3D printer) shows the most promising results for future applications. | Praveena Nair Sivasankaran Thomas Arthur Ward Erfan Salami Rubentheren Viyapuri Christopher J.Fearday Mohd Rafie Johan | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,2: | 5 |

| 3 | Effect of vitamin E on oxidative stress status in small intestine of diabetic rat显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of vitamin E on oxidative stress status in the small intestine of diabetic rats. METHODS:Twenty-four male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:Control (C),non-treated diabetic (NTD) and vitamin E-treated diabetic (VETD) groups. The increases in lipid peroxidation,protein oxidation and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in these three groups was compared after 6 wk. RESULTS:There was no significant difference in catalase activity between NTD and control rats. Compared to NTD rats,the treatment with vitamin E significantly decreased lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation,and also increased catalase activity and SOD. CONCLUSION:The results revealed the occurrence of oxidative stress in the small intestine of diabetic rats. | 4 | 薰衣草水提取物能改善阿尔茨海默大鼠的空间学习和记忆能力(英文)显示文摘目的阿尔茨海默病(Alzheimer's disease, AD)是主要的神经退行性疾病之一,其特征主要表现为痴呆,包括学习与记忆的衰退。本研究旨在探索薰衣草(唇形科,薰衣草属)水提取物对AD大鼠空间学习和记忆的影响。方法 Wistar大鼠分为对照组和AD 组,通过给大鼠脑室注射10 ?g A?1-42 建立AD模型。20天后,两组大鼠进行为期5天的水迷宫空间记忆采集实验(每天4次),紧接着进行一次空间探索实验。实验结束后,分别给予AD组和对照组大鼠不同剂量的薰衣草水提取物(50、100、200 mg/kg) 或 0.4 mL/kg 蒸馏水,每天一次共20天。随后,重复上述水迷宫实验。结果在水迷宫实验的第一阶段,AD组大鼠找到平台的潜伏期显著高于对照组大鼠,而在第二阶段,接受蒸馏水注射的对照和AD大鼠找到平台的潜伏期没有差异,说明水迷宫运动本身能提高AD大鼠的空间学习能力。在第二阶段空间记忆采集实验中,与接受蒸馏水注射的同类大鼠相比,接受薰衣草水提取物注射的对照和AD大鼠找到平台的潜伏期显著降低。此外,200 mg/kg 薰衣草水提取物能显著提高对照和AD大鼠的空间探索能力。结论薰衣草水提取物能有效逆转AD 大鼠空间学习功能的损伤。 | Masoud Soheili Kashani Mostafa Rezaei Tavirani Sayyed Alireza Talaei Mahmoud Salami | 2011 | Neuroscience Bulletin2011,27,2: | 2 |
| 5 | Effect of indomethacin on electrical field stimulation-induced contractions of isolated transverse and longitudinal rat gastric fundus strips显示文摘AIM: To study the effects of indomethacin on the isolated transverse and longitudinal rat gastric fundus strips.METHODS: The strips were suspended in an organ bath containing oxygenated Krebs solution, and contractile responses to electrical field stimulation were recorded on a physiograph in an isotonic manner after administration of cumulative concentrations of indomethacin. The effects of indomethacin on the strips pretreated with KATP channel modulators, diazoxide and glybenclamide were studied.RESULTS: Treatment of the transverse strips with indomethacin resulted in a concentration-dependent inhibitory response. In longitudinal strips, biphasic responses were seen, which included a stimulatory response at low concentrations of indomethacin, followed by an inhibitory response at higher concentrations.Diazoxide pre-treatment inhibited the stimulatory response of longitudinal strips. Glybenclamide pre-treatment not only blocked inhibitory effect of the low concentrations of indomethacin on transverse strips, but also increased the amplitude of contractions.
