| 1 | Lymphangiogenesis:A new player in cancer progression显示文摘Lymph node metastasis is the hallmark of colon cancer progression,and is considered one of the most important prognostic factors.Recently,there has been growing evidence that tumor lymphangiogenesis(formation of new lymphatic vessels) plays an important role in this process.Here,we review the latest f indings of the role of lymphangiogenesis in colorectal cancer progression,and discuss its clinical application as a biomarker and target for new therapy.Understanding the molecular pathways that regulate lymphangiogenesis is mandatory to pave the way for the development of new therapies for cancer.In the future,tailored treatments consisting of combinations of chemotherapy,other targeted therapies,and anti-lymphangiogenesis agents will hopefully improve patient outcomes.This progression to the clinic must be guided by new avenues of research,such as the identif ication of biomarkers that predict response to treatment. | Masayuki Nagahashi Subramaniam Ramachandran Omar M Rashid Kazuaki Takabe | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，32： | 14 |
| 2 | Inverted Meckel's diverticulum as a cause of occult lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage显示文摘Meckel's diverticulum is a common asymptomatic congenital gastrointestinal anomaly,but rarely it can present with hemorrhage.Over the last few years inverted Meckel's diverticulum has been reported in the literature with increasing frequency as an occult source of lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage.Here,we report a case of a 54-year-old male,who was referred for surgical evaluation with persistent anemia and occult blood per rectum after a work up which failed to localize the source over 12 mo,including upper and capsule endoscopy,colonoscopy,enteroclysis,Meckel scan,and tagged nuclear red blood cell scan.An abdominal computed tomography scan showed a possible mid-ileal intussusception and intraluminal mass.During the abdominal exploration,inverted Meckel's diverticulum was diagnosed and resected.We review the literature,discuss the forms in which the disease presents,the diagnostic modalities utilized,pathological findings,and treatment.Although less than 40 cases have been reported in the English literature from 1978 to 2005,19 cases have been reported in the last 6 years alone(2006-2012) due to improved diagnostic modalities.Successful diagnosis and treatment of this disease requires a high index of clinical suspicion,which is becoming increasingly relevant to general gastroenterologists. | Omar M Rashid Joseph K Ku Masayuki Nagahashi Akimitsu Yamada Kazuaki Takabe | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，42： | 7 |
| 3 | Spatial and seasonal distribution of intertidal macrobenthos with their biomass and functional feeding guilds in the Naf River estuary, Bangladesh显示文摘The Naf River estuary is one of the most productive ecological ecosystems in Bangladesh providing an important feeding area for fishes and other aquatic animals.However,detailed information on macrobenthic communities is rarely available in this area.Our study focused on the seasonal and spatial variability of macrobenthic community structure with their biomass and functional guilds.In total,fortyseven taxa were identified under nine major groups and seven functional feeding guilds.Among macrobenthic taxa,Polychaeta was dominant in both seasons and all over the estuary contributing 60%of total benthos.The mean abundance of macrobenthos was higher during the pre-monsoon(2 972±1 994 inds./m^2)than the monsoon(1 572±361 inds./m^2)being maximum at mid-estuary region and minimum at upper and lower estuary regions.Of the diversity indices,density(P=0.01,P=0.003),the number of taxa(P=0.000 3,P=0.000 9)and Margalef′s Index(P=0.000 4,P=0.001)of macrobenthos were significantly different among stations and seasons.Shannon-Weiner index(P=0.009,P=0.12)and Pielou’s evenness index(P=0.03,P=0.14)had significant differences among stations but not among seasons.Cluster analysis suggested that distribution of macrofauna is strongly influenced by seasonality.Among the feeding types,carnivorous were found to be dominant at the upper and mid-estuarine regions,and herbivorous were at lower estuarine regions.Carnivorous species were dominant in both seasons.Omnivores have shown to be the most abundant feeding type in terms of biomass though herbivores were highest during monsoon. | Md. | 5 | Structural, electronic, and optical properties of ZnO_(1-x)Se_x alloys using first-principles calculations显示文摘The structural, electronic, and optical properties of binary ZnO, ZnSe compounds, and their ternary ZnO 1-x Se x alloys are computed using the accurate full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital (FP-LAPW + lo) method in the rocksalt (B1) and zincblende (B3) crystallographic phases. The electronic band structures, fundamental energy band gaps, and densities of states for ZnO 1-x Se x are evaluated in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 using Wu-Cohen (WC) generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for the exchange-correlation potential. Our calculated results of lattice parameters and bulk modulus reveal a nonlinear variation for pseudo-binary and their ternary alloys in both phases and show a considerable deviation from Vegard's law. It is observed that the predicted lattice parameter and bulk modulus are in good agreement with the available experimental and theoretical data. We establish that the composition dependence of band gap is semi-metallic in B1 phase, while a direct band gap is observed in B3 phase. | 6 | Mapping of three QTLs for seed setting and analysis on the candidate gene for qSS-1 in rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘The lower seed setting is one of the major hindrances which face grain yield in rice.One of the main reasons to cause low spikelet fertility(seed setting)is male sterility or pollen abortion.Notably,pollen abortion has been frequently observed in advanced progenies of rice.In the present study,149 BC_2F_6 individuals with significant segregation in spikelet fertility were generated from the cross between N040212(indica)and Nipponbare(japonica)and used for primary gene mapping.Three QTLs,qSS-1,qSS-7 and qSS-9 at chromosomes 1,7 and 9,respectively,were found to be associated with seed setting.The recombinant analysis and the physical mapping information from publicly available resources exhibited that the qSS-1,qSS-7 and qSS-9 loci were mapped to an interval of 188,701 and 3741 kb,respectively.The seed setting responsible for QTL qSS-1 was further fine mapped to 93.5 kb by using BC_2F_7 population of 1 849 individuals.There are 16possible putative genes in this 93.5 kb region.Pollen vitality tests and artificial pollination indicated that the male gamete has abnormal pollen while the female gamete was normal.These data showed that low seed setting rate relative to qSS-1may be caused by abnormal pollen grains.These results will be useful for cloning,functional analysis of the target gene governing spikelet fertility(seed setting)and understanding the genetic bases of pollen sterility. | Elsheikh Y M Ahmed ZHANG Yan-pei YU Jian-ping Rashid M A Rehman ZHANG Zhan-ying ZHANG Hong-liang LI Jin-jie LI Zi-chao | 2016 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016，15，4： | 2 |
| 7 | Contrast use in relation to the arterial access site for percutaneous coronary intervention:A comprehensive meta-analysis of randomized trials显示文摘AIM To compare the amount of contrast used during percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) via trans-radial access(TRA) vs trans-femoral access(TFA).METHODS Scientific databases and websites were searched for:randomizedcontrolledtrials(RCTs). Data were extracted by two independent reviewers and was summarized as the weighted mean difference(WMD) of contrast used with a 95%CI using a random-effects model. RESULTS The meta-analysis included 13 RCTs with a total of 3165 patients. There was no difference between the two strategies in the amount of contrast used(WMD =-0.65 mL,95%CI:-10.94-9.46 mL; P = 0.901).
