1Left ventricular false tendons and electrocardiogram repolarization abnormalities in healthy young subjects显示文摘AIM To describe echocardiographically left ventricular false tendon characteristics and the correlation with ventricular repolarization abnormalities in young athletes.METHODS Three hundred and sixteen healthy young athletes from different sport disciplines were evaluated from 2009 to 2011 during routine screening for agonistic sports eligibility. All subjects, as part of standard preparticipation screening medical evaluation, underwent a basal and post step test 12-lead electrocardiogram(ECG). The athletes with abnormal T-wave flattening and/or inversion were considered for an echocardiogram evaluation and an incremental maximal exercise test on a cycle ergometer. Arterial blood pressure and heart rate, during and after exercise, were also measured.RESULTS Twenty-one of the 316 subjects(6.9%) showed false tendons in the left ventricle. The majority of false tendons(52.38%) were localized between the middle segments of the inferior septum and the lateral wall, 19.06% between the distal segments of the septum and the lateral wall, in 5 subjects between the middle segments of the anterior and inferior walls, and in one subject between the middle segments of the anterior septum and the posterior wall. ECG abnormalities, represented by alterations of ventricular repolarization, were found in 11 subjects(52.38%), 90% of these anomalies were T wave abnormalities from V1 to V3. These anomalies disappeared with an increasing heart rate following the three minute step test as well as during the execution of the maximal exercise.CONCLUSION Left ventricular false tendons are frequently localized between the middle segments of the inferior septum and the lateral wall and are statistically associated with ventricular repolarization abnormalities.Zlatan Lazarevic Emanuela Ciminelli Federico Quaranta Fabio Sperandii Emanuele Guerra Fabio Pigozzi Paolo Borrione 2016World Journal of Cardiology2016,8,10:4
2基于海上作业数据的船用柴油机排放模型验证显示文摘In this study,a model is developed to simulate the dynamics of an internal combustion engine,and it is calibrated and validated against reliable experimental data,making it a tool that can effectively be adopted to conduct emission predictions.In this work,the Ricardo WAVE software is applied to the simulation of a particular marine diesel engine,a four-stroke engine used in the maritime field.Results from the bench tests are used for the calibration of the model.Finally,the calibration of the model and its validation with full-scale data measured at sea are presented.The prediction includes not only the classic engine operating parameters for a comparison with surveys but also an estimate of nitrogen oxide emissions,which are compared with similar results obtained with emission factors.The calibration of the model made it possible to obtain an overlap between the simulation results and real data with an average error of approximately 7%on power,torque,and consumption.The model provides encouraging results,suggesting further applications,such as in the study on transient conditions,coupling of the engine model with the ship model for a complete simulation of the operating conditions,and optimization studies on consumption and emissions.The availability of the emission data during the sea trial and validated simulation results are the strengths and novelties of this work.Luigia Mocerino CGuedes Soares Enrico Rizzuto Flavio Balsamo Franco Quaranta 2021Journal of Marine Science and Application2021,20,3:4

4Emerging and Innovative Materials for Hydropower Engineering Applications:Turbines,Bearings,Sealing,Dams and Waterways,and Ocean Power显示文摘The hydropower sector is currently experiencing several technological developments.New technologies and practices are emerging to make hydropower more flexible and more sustainable.Novel materials have also been recently developed to increase performance,durability,and reliability;however,no systematic discussions can be found in the literature.Therefore,in this paper,novel materials for hydropower applications are presented,and their performance,advantages,and limitations are discussed.For example,composites can reduce the weight of steel equipment by 50%to 80%,polymers and superhydrophobic materials can reduce head losses by 4%to 20%,and novel bearing materials can reduce bearing wear by 6%.These improvements determine higher efficiencies,longer life span,waste reduction,and maintenance needs,although the initial cost of some materials is not yet competitive with respect to the costs of traditional materials.The novel materials are described here based on the following categories:novel materials for turbines,dams and waterways,bearings,seals,and ocean hydropower.Emanuele Quaranta Peter Davies 2022Engineering2022,8,1:3
5Stability of highly supersaturated vanadium electrolyte solution and characterization of precipitated phases for vanadium redox flow battery显示文摘The vanadium redox flow battery(VRFB)has been receiving great attention in recent years as one of the most viable energy storage technologies for large-scale applications.However,higher concentrations of vanadium species are required in the H_(2)O-H_(2)SO_(4) electrolyte in order to improve the VRFB energy density.This might lead to unwanted precipitation of vanadium compounds,whose nature has not been accurately characterized yet.For this purpose,this study reports the preparation ofⅤ^((Ⅱ)),ⅤV^((Ⅲ)),Ⅴ^((Ⅳ))andⅤ^((Ⅴ))supersaturated solutions in a 5 M H_(2)SO_(4)-H_(2)O electrolyte by an electrolytic method,from the only vanadium sulfate compound commercially available(VOSO_(4)).The precipitates obtained by ageing of the stirred solutions are representative of the solids that may form in a VRFB operated with such supersaturated solutions.The solid phases are identified using thermogravimetric analysis,X-ray diffraction and SEM.We report that dissolvedⅤ^((Ⅱ)),Ⅴ^((Ⅲ))andⅤ^((Ⅳ))species precipitate as crystals of VSO_(4),V_(2)(SO_(4))3 and VOSO_(4) hydrates and not in their anhydrous form;conversely V^((Ⅴ))precipitates as an amorphous V_(2) O_(5) oxide partially hydrated.The measured hydration degrees(respectively 1.5,9,3 and 0.26 mol of H_(2)O per mol of compound)might significantly affect the overall engineering of VRFB operating with high vanadium concentrations.Waldemir M.Carvalho Jr Laurent Cassayre Delphine Quaranta Fabien Chauvet Ranine El-Hage Theodore Tzedakis Béatrice Biscans 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10:3
6Anti-tumor necrosis factor α therapy associates to type 17 helper T lymphocytes immunological shift and significant microbial changes in dextran sodium sulphate colitis显示文摘BACKGROUND Anti-tumor necrosis factor α(TNFα) represents the best therapeutic option to induce mucosal healing and clinical remission in patients with moderate-severe ulcerative colitis. On the other side gut microbiota plays a crucial role in pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis but few information exists on how microbiota changes following anti-TNFα therapy and on microbiota role in mucosal healing.AIM To elucidate whether gut microbiota and immune system changes appear following anti TNFα therapy during dextran sulfate sodium(DSS) colitis.METHODS Eighty C57 BL/6 mice were divided into four groups: 'No DSS', 'No DSS + antiTNFα', 'DSS' and 'DSS + anti-TNFα'. 'DSS' and 'DSS + anti-TNFα' were treated for 5 d with 3% DSS. At day 3, mice whithin 'No DSS+anti-TNFα' and'DSS+anti-TNFα' group received 5 mg/kg of an anti-TNFα agent. Forty mice were sacrificed at day 5, forty at day 12, after one week of recovery post DSS. The severity of colitis was assessed by a clinical score(Disease Activity Index), colon length and histology. Bacteria such as Bacteroides, Clostridiaceae, Enterococcaceae and Fecalibacterium prausnitzii(F. prausnitzii) were evaluated by quantitative PCR.Type 1 helper T lymphocytes(Th1), type 17 helper T lymphocytes(Th17) and CD4+ regulatory T lymphocytes(Treg) distributions in the mesenteric lymph node(MLN) were studied by flow cytometry.RESULTS Bacteria associated with a healthy state(i.e., such as Bacteroides, Clostridiaceae and F. prausnitzii) decreased during colitis and increased in course of anti-TNFαtreatment. Conversely, microorganisms belonging to Enterococcaceae genera,which are linked to inflammatory processes, showed an opposite trend.Furthermore, in colitic mice treated with anti-TNFα microbial changes were associated with an initial increase(day 5 of the colitis) in Treg cells and a consequent decrease(day 12 post DSS) in Th1 and Th17 frequency cells. Healthy mice treated with anti-TNFα showed the same histological, microbial and immune features of untreated colitic mice.
